I think that nowadays English studying is a very important phenomenon. English language became an international language. English occupies leading position among such languages as Russian, Chinese, Spanish, Arabic and French – it is the official languages of the UN. All large companies such as air and sea companies use this language. I guess that in future all people will speak English. My mother says that every educated person should know foreign language or may be some foreign languages. I think that people who know English can visit different countries without problems, because English gives a possibility to communicate with foreign people. Today many people study English. Some of them because of work necessity, they need to make agreements and many different documents. Also a lot of people travel abroad. And for other people language studying is a hobby. They just want to wide their outlook.
My father says that English is widespread. English is a very useful language, because, 80 percent of communications between a person and a computer are in English. Also, nearly half of all business deals in Europe are conducted in English. I guess that English is studied as foreign language in many schools all over the world.
As for me, I study English because I want to be an interpreter. I guess that it is an interesting work. If you work as an interpreter you can met new people, communicate with them and make friend with some of them. Also I study English because I want to understand many people from different countries, I want to read English books in the original, I want to listen songs of foreign groups and to understand them, I want to watch different TV programs. I think that in future I`ll get a possibility to visit USA or England. It would be interesting experience. I like to study English. I like to find out the origin of words, also I like to compare English and Russian words, often they are almost identical. English studying is very interesting and informative.

Nowadays English is one of the most widespread languages in the world. A huge number of people (over one billion) speak English for historical reasons (colonialist policies and cultural influence of the British Empire) and because of its functionality. English is the official language not only in the USA, Canada, and the United Kingdom, but also in India, Australia, and many countries of Africa and Southern America. Due to the great importance of English in business, science, diplomatic relations, it is possible to say that it plays a role of the modern “lingua Franca” like Latin in the Middle Ages or French in the 19th century.
В наши дни английский – один из самых распространённых языков мира. Огромное количество людей (более миллиарда) говорит на английском по историческим причинам (колониальная политика и культурное влияние Британской империи) и из-за его функциональности. Английский является официальным языком не только в США, Канаде и Великобритании, но и в Индии, Австралии, многих странах Африки и Южной Америки. Благодаря большому значению английского в бизнесе, науке, дипломатических отношениях, можно сказать, что он играет роль современной «лингва франка», подобно латинскому в Средневековье или французскому в XIX веке.
Therefore, it is natural that people learn English willingly; for example, in my country, it holds the first position in the list of the most popular languages for learning. Almost all the Russian children study English in school, and I was among them. My personal experience tied with English is rather pleasant and useful: it was always interesting for me to learn it, especially to write my own texts, translate and speak. I took part in a few competitions in English, and some of them were successful. Besides, I enjoyed reading English and American literature in original (E. Bronte, J. Salinger, etc.).

Fortunately, knowledge of English still helps me: as a translator, I use it in my professional life and in scientific research. English is irreplaceable in communication with my friends living abroad. Sometimes I read books and watch movies in English in order to maintain my language level and just to contact the amazing British culture.

The modern world is becoming smaller all the time. Every day distances between different countries seem less. For this reason it’s becoming more and more important to know different languages, especially English.
One billion people speak English today. That’s about 20% of the world’s population. 400 million people speak English as their first language. For the other 600 million people it’s either a second language or a foreign language.
English is the first language in the United Kingdom, the United States of America, Australia and New Zealand. It is one of the official languages in Canada, the Irish Republic and the Republic of South Africa.
As a second language English is spoken in more than 60 countries. It is used by the government, businessmen and universities.
English is the language of politics and diplomacy, science and technology, business and trade, sport and pop music. 80% of all information in the world’s computers is in English. 75% of the world’s letters and faxes are in English. 60% of all international telephone calls are made in English. More than 60% of all scientific journals are written in English.
To know English today is absolutely necessary for every educated person, for every good specialist. Learning a language is not an easy thing. It’s a long and slow process that takes a lot of time and patience. But it’s a must.
English is taught throughout the world and a lot of people speak it quite well. In our country English is very popular: it is studied at schools (sometimes even at nursery schools), colleges and universities.
Everyone will speak English soon — I’m sure of it. We all need to understand each other. To do that we need an international language, and that’s English.

Long ago studying a foreign language was not necessary and people weren`t in need of it.In Shakespeare`s time English was spoken only by six million people and was a “provincial ” language. But now at the beginning of the 21st millenium probably one billion people speak English.But the situation has changed greatly thanks to the expansion of all types of ties between countries in the world. As for me, I study English because I want to be an interpreter. I guess that it is an interesting work. If you work as an interpreter you can met new people, communicate with them and make friend with some of them. Also I study English because I want to understand many people from different countries, I want to read English books in the original, I want to listen songs of foreign groups and to understand them, I want to watch different TV programs. I think that in future I`ll get a possibility to visit USA or England. It would be interesting experience. I like to study English. I like to find out the origin of words, also I like to compare English and Russian words, often they are almost identical. English studying is very interesting and informative.

Nowadays English is one of the most widespread languages in the world. A huge number of people (over one billion) speak English for historical reasons (colonialist policies and cultural influence of the British Empire) and because of its functionality. English is the official language not only in the USA, Canada, and the United Kingdom, but also in India, Australia, and many countries of Africa and Southern America. Due to the great importance of English in business, science, diplomatic relations, it is possible to say that it plays a role of the modern “lingua Franca” like Latin in the Middle Ages or French in the 19th century.
В наши дни английский – один из самых распространённых языков мира. Огромное количество людей (более миллиарда) говорит на английском по историческим причинам (колониальная политика и культурное влияние Британской империи) и из-за его функциональности. Английский является официальным языком не только в США, Канаде и Великобритании, но и в Индии, Австралии, многих странах Африки и Южной Америки. Благодаря большому значению английского в бизнесе, науке, дипломатических отношениях, можно сказать, что он играет роль современной «лингва франка», подобно латинскому в Средневековье или французскому в XIX веке.
Therefore, it is natural that people learn English willingly; for example, in my country, it holds the first position in the list of the most popular languages for learning. Almost all the Russian children study English in school, and I was among them. My personal experience tied with English is rather pleasant and useful: it was always interesting for me to learn it, especially to write my own texts, translate and speak. I took part in a few competitions in English, and some of them were successful. Besides, I enjoyed reading English and American literature in original (E. Bronte, J. Salinger, etc.).

Fortunately, knowledge of English still helps me: as a translator, I use it in my professional life and in scientific research. English is irreplaceable in communication with my friends living abroad. Sometimes I read books and watch movies in English in order to maintain my language level and just to contact the amazing British culture.

The modern world is becoming smaller all the time. Every day distances between different countries seem less. For this reason it’s becoming more and more important to know different languages, especially English.
One billion people speak English today. That’s about 20% of the world’s population. 400 million people speak English as their first language. For the other 600 million people it’s either a second language or a foreign language.
English is the first language in the United Kingdom, the United States of America, Australia and New Zealand. It is one of the official languages in Canada, the Irish Republic and the Republic of South Africa.
As a second language English is spoken in more than 60 countries. It is used by the government, businessmen and universities.
English is the language of politics and diplomacy, science and technology, business and trade, sport and pop music. 80% of all information in the world’s computers is in English. 75% of the world’s letters and faxes are in English. 60% of all international telephone calls are made in English. More than 60% of all scientific journals are written in English.
To know English today is absolutely necessary for every educated person, for every good specialist. Learning a language is not an easy thing. It’s a long and slow process that takes a lot of time and patience. But it’s a must.
English is taught throughout the world and a lot of people speak it quite well. In our country English is very popular: it is studied at schools (sometimes even at nursery schools), colleges and universities.
Everyone will speak English soon — I’m sure of it. We all need to understand each other. To do that we need an international language, and that’s English.

Long ago studying a foreign language was not necessary and people weren`t in need of it.In Shakespeare`s time English was spoken only by six million people and was a “provincial ” language. But now at the beginning of the 21st millenium probably one billion people speak English.But the situation has changed greatly thanks to the expansion of all types of ties between countries in the world. A person who has a good command of a foreign language feels at ease not only in his native country but abroad too.I remember a good quatation said by Gohnson ” language is the dress of thought”. These words dress our thoughts better. A foreign language will enable a person to read English books in the original, to communicate with foreigners, to participate in cultural and educational exchanges with other countries.
So, English plays a great role in our lives.People, who know foreign languages are necessary for the development of technics,economy and arts in modern society. People want to learn foreign languages to write their pen-friends or to communicate with them personally. People also want to read the works written by famous writers and also magazines in the original. Learning a foreign language is especially important in our country. As for me I am fond of English. The river Volga is very beautiful, a lot of fish in it. I like to fish. Sometimes my family and I go fishing.
My family is my mum, my father and my brother. My brother is 4 years. His name is Dima. He is very cheerful and noisy. I have a grandmother, a grandfather and a great-grandmother. I think that English will be my future career because I am good at this language.
