Birthday is a very wonderful day. Everybody likes to celebrate it. It is a good opportunity to spend time with friends, parents, relatives.
I was born on the 10th of January. In the morning on my birthday my parents lay the presents near my bed. So the first thing I see when I open my eyes is my presents. My Mom and Daddy and my little brother come to my room to congratulate me and to sing “Happy Birthday”.
Usually we hold my birthday party in the evening. Once we went to a cafe to celebrate my birthday, but usually we celebrate it at home. We clean the house the day before birthday. In the morning of birthday party day my father goes shopping and buys everything we need.
My mother bakes a cake or pie. By the evening food is cooked, the table is laid. We put on evening suits and dresses and wait for the guests. The flat looks nice and cosy. I am always very glad to meet my guests. I like to get flowers and presents. Mom gives me the telegram from my aunt.
We have an abundant dinner on this day. Mom brings in the birthday cake. I blow the candles out. We dance and sing songs, play games and laugh, joke, tell funny stories. I think that my birthday is one of the best days in a year.

According to the statistics, nearly 18 millions of people celebrate their birthdays on the same day as you. Moreover, the scientists claim that if 24 people gather in one place, two of them must have a birthday on the same day. Nevertheless, birthday is a really special day for everybody and you have the feeling of your own day for sure.
As far as I know, people have different ways of celebrating their birthdays. It basically depends on many factors such as the season of the year, weather, company and, of course, their preferences. As for me, my birthday falls on 16th of July. Now I see that it’s perfect time for celebrating that gives you many opportunities to enjoy this day. Surprisingly, I didn’t think this way when I was a school girl. I remember that everybody in my class had a lot of presents and congratulations from classmates and teachers, but not me, because my birthday is during summer holidays. However, we had nice family celebrations. They were quite traditional, with a cake, candles and flowers. I can’t remember anything special about this day in my childhood.
So nowadays, I’m trying to make each birthday special and not routine. Personally, I believe that the best idea for such day is traveling. It can be seaside, mountains, or any other place you have never been to before. The most important for me is to have new impressions and enrich my experience. Therefore, when I think about my ideal celebration I imagine taking up a new activity together with my closest people. It can be anything from rafting to having a masterclass of making candies together. It seems to me that such new experiences are the most memorable and are of much greater importance than presents.
In addition, I’d like to notice that each birthday counts a new year of our life. It’s time to make some conclusions and new resolutions for the following year. So just dream on this day and let your dreams come true.

My birthday is one of my favourite holidays. It is a wonderful chance to spend the time with your family and friends, with the people who really love you and remember you. On this day you are in the centre of their attention and you hear lots of warm and hearty words and pleasant compliments. When you check your mail you find many greetings from your classmates and relatives. Your telephone keeps ringing all day long and you are very happy to answer the phone.
I was born in summer, on the 9th of July. But I often celebrate my birthday on the nearest Saturday. I wake up quite early on that day because I’m pretty excited. Normally the weather is always sunny and hot. That is why I prefer going for a picnic with my guests somewhere to the river. But if it’s rainy we have a big party at home. Of course, my parents help me organize the party. The day before that I help my mother with cleaning our home and cooking the food: salads, snacks, pies and a fantastic birthday cake. If we stay at home I usually dress up and do my hair. We dance and sing karaoke, play funny games. Then my parents bring the birthday cake with candles, my friends start singing a Happy Birthday song and I blow out the candles. It’s really exciting for me. After that if we are not too tired we go to my room and listen to our favourite music, chat and watch TV. Late in the evening we usually go for a walk.
I also like celebrating my birthday because I get a lot of presents and beautiful bunches of flowers. My parents always ask me about my wishes beforehand and I get presents that I really need. I find them under my bed in the morning when I wake up. My Birthday
W hat will you do on your birthday? Most Americans celebrate their birthdays on the day on which they were born.
Like in Russia, friends and relatives share in the celebration. However, unlike in Russia, birthday parties have a more spontaneous, less planned guest list and agenda, and there is no particular attempt made to venerate one’s guests with vast quantities of gourmet treats (A birthday person is not expected to spend his special day in the kitchen!). Something simple but elegant (not something you would eat any day) and a nice bottle of wine will suffice for this occasion.
In the United States an adult person having a birthday feels no particular social obligation to invite guests home for festivities. This time and space is usually reserved for the immediate family and close family friends. Co-workers may have an impromptu group gathering at coffee break time with cake and ice cream and a small gift for which all have contributed. Or they may shout a ‘birthday lunch’ at a nearby restaurant for the special person or go out for drinks after work.
Children may bring cupcakes and candy to school or distribute invitations to their classmates for a party to be held at their home.
A cake is baked, group games are played, and prizes and souvenirs are passed out to all of the guests. Cone-shaped paper birthday hats may be worn and noise makers passed out to everyone present. Serving of the ornately decorated birthday cake is the highlight of the birthday celebration for the guests. First the cake is equipped with candles, one candle for each year of the birthday person’s life. Then the candles are lit and everyone sings “Happy Birthday to You,” after which the special person makes a ‘secret wish’ and blows the candles out.
The custom of putting candles on a birthday cake is said to have started about 200 years ago in Germany, renowned for its high-quality candles.
It was considered good luck to blow out all of the candles in one blow. Now it is considered as assurance that the birthday wish will come true. The custom of singing “Happy Birthday to You” began about 100 years ago in America when Mildred and Patty Hill made up the song which has since become a big hit and attracted lots of humorous variations.
For the birthday person the highlight of the celebration is often quite conspicuously the opening of the birthday presents. Now, more and more, this custom is reserved for the very formal gift-giving occasion of the wedding.
The most common way to wish someone a happy birthday, however, is with a simple birthday card, a custom that began in England about 100 years ago.
Some typical examples of simple birthday greetings are:
“On your mark, get ready, go! It’s time for you to steal the show! Happy Birthday!”
“Today’s your day, so stay tuned in for birthday fun that makes you grin!”

Birthday is a very wonderful day. Everybody likes to celebrate it. It is a good opportunity to spend time with friends, parents, relatives.

According to the statistics, nearly 18 millions of people celebrate their birthdays on the same day as you. Moreover, the scientists claim that if 24 people gather in one place, two of them must have a birthday on the same day. Nevertheless, birthday is a really special day for everybody and you have the feeling of your own day for sure.
As far as I know, people have different ways of celebrating their birthdays. It basically depends on many factors such as the season of the year, weather, company and, of course, their preferences. As for me, my birthday falls on 16th of July. Now I see that it’s perfect time for celebrating that gives you many opportunities to enjoy this day. Surprisingly, I didn’t think this way when I was a school girl. I remember that everybody in my class had a lot of presents and congratulations from classmates and teachers, but not me, because my birthday is during summer holidays. However, we had nice family celebrations. They were quite traditional, with a cake, candles and flowers. I can’t remember anything special about this day in my childhood.
So nowadays, I’m trying to make each birthday special and not routine. Personally, I believe that the best idea for such day is traveling. It can be seaside, mountains, or any other place you have never been to before. The most important for me is to have new impressions and enrich my experience. Therefore, when I think about my ideal celebration I imagine taking up a new activity together with my closest people. It can be anything from rafting to having a masterclass of making candies together. It seems to me that such new experiences are the most memorable and are of much greater importance than presents.
In addition, I’d like to notice that each birthday counts a new year of our life. It’s time to make some conclusions and new resolutions for the following year. So just dream on this day and let your dreams come true.

My birthday is one of my favourite holidays. It is a wonderful chance to spend the time with your family and friends, with the people who really love you and remember you. On this day you are in the centre of their attention and you hear lots of warm and hearty words and pleasant compliments. When you check your mail you find many greetings from your classmates and relatives. Your telephone keeps ringing all day long and you are very happy to answer the phone.
I was born in summer, on the 9th of July. But I often celebrate my birthday on the nearest Saturday. I wake up quite early on that day because I’m pretty excited. Normally the weather is always sunny and hot. That is why I prefer going for a picnic with my guests somewhere to the river. But if it’s rainy we have a big party at home. Of course, my parents help me organize the party. The day before that I help my mother with cleaning our home and cooking the food: salads, snacks, pies and a fantastic birthday cake. If we stay at home I usually dress up and do my hair. We dance and sing karaoke, play funny games. Then my parents bring the birthday cake with candles, my friends start singing a Happy Birthday song and I blow out the candles. It’s really exciting for me. After that if we are not too tired we go to my room and listen to our favourite music, chat and watch TV. Late in the evening we usually go for a walk.
I also like celebrating my birthday because I get a lot of presents and beautiful bunches of flowers. By the way, my birthday is a remarkable day for my mother too, so I usually thank her for my life with lovely red roses. My parents always ask me about my wishes beforehand and I get presents that I really need. I find them under my bed in the morning when I wake up. So every year my birthday starts with a pleasant surprise from an early morning.

My Birthday
W hat will you do on your birthday? Most Americans celebrate their birthdays on the day on which they were born.
Like in Russia, friends and relatives share in the celebration. However, unlike in Russia, birthday parties have a more spontaneous, less planned guest list and agenda, and there is no particular attempt made to venerate one’s guests with vast quantities of gourmet treats (A birthday person is not expected to spend his special day in the kitchen!). Something simple but elegant (not something you would eat any day) and a nice bottle of wine will suffice for this occasion.
In the United States an adult person having a birthday feels no particular social obligation to invite guests home for festivities. This time and space is usually reserved for the immediate family and close family friends. Co-workers may have an impromptu group gathering at coffee break time with cake and ice cream and a small gift for which all have contributed. Or they may shout a ‘birthday lunch’ at a nearby restaurant for the special person or go out for drinks after work.
Children may bring cupcakes and candy to school or distribute invitations to their classmates for a party to be held at their home.
A cake is baked, group games are played, and prizes and souvenirs are passed out to all of the guests. Cone-shaped paper birthday hats may be worn and noise makers passed out to everyone present. Serving of the ornately decorated birthday cake is the highlight of the birthday celebration for the guests. First the cake is equipped with candles, one candle for each year of the birthday person’s life. Then the candles are lit and everyone sings “Happy Birthday to You,” after which the special person makes a ‘secret wish’ and blows the candles out.
The custom of putting candles on a birthday cake is said to have started about 200 years ago in Germany, renowned for its high-quality candles.
It was considered good luck to blow out all of the candles in one blow. Now it is considered as assurance that the birthday wish will come true. The custom of singing “Happy Birthday to You” began about 100 years ago in America when Mildred and Patty Hill made up the song which has since become a big hit and attracted lots of humorous variations.
For the birthday person the highlight of the celebration is often quite conspicuously the opening of the birthday presents. Now, more and more, this custom is reserved for the very formal gift-giving occasion of the wedding.
The most common way to wish someone a happy birthday, however, is with a simple birthday card, a custom that began in England about 100 years ago.
Some typical examples of simple birthday greetings are:
“On your mark, get ready, go! It’s time for you to steal the show! Happy Birthday!”
“Today’s your day, so stay tuned in for birthday fun that makes you grin!”
“You’re № 1, so have fun on your special day! — Happy Birthday!”
They serve as testimony to the fact that in the United States the focus is definitely on the individual, at least on that one very special birthday each year.

My Birthday
Birthday is a very wonderful day. Everybody likes to celebrate it. It is a good opportunity to spend time with friends, parents, relatives.
1 was born on the 10th of January. In the morning on my birthday my parents lay the presents near my bed. So the first thing I see when I open my eyes is my presents. My Mam and Daddy and my little brother come to my room to congratulate me and to sing «Happy Birthday».
Usually we hold my birthday party in the evening. Once we went to a cafe to celebrate my birthday, but usually we celebrate it at home.
We clean the house the day before birthday. In the morning of birthday party day my father goes shopping and buyes everything we need. My mother bakes a cake or pie.
By the evening food is cooked, the table is layed. We put on evening suits and dresses and wait for the guests. The flat looks nice and cosy.
I am always very glad to meet my guests. I like to get flowers and presents. Mam gives me the telegram from my aunt. We have an abundant dinner on this day. Mam brings in the birthday cake. I blow the candles out.
We dance and sing songs, play games and augh,joke, tell funny stories.
I think that my birthday is one of the best days in a year.
