I love music, I think people can not live without it. The first thing I do in the morning I switch on my tape — recorder.
We can hear music everywhere: in the streets, in the shops, on TV, over the radio, in the cars, in the parks, everywhere. I think it’s really doesn’t matter what kind of music you prefer: rock, pop, classical, jazz. A lot of people are fond of music. They buy tapes, go to the concerts, visit Concert Halls and Opera Theatres.
I enjoy listening music because it reflects my moods and emotions. Very often when I’m blue, I play my favourite merry songs and feel much better.
Sometimes I attend music halls and the concerts, when popular groups and singers are there. I like watching music programs on TV. I like to know more and more about popular talented groups and singers I like.
One wall of my room is covered with posters of “Bon Jovi”, “Scorpions”, “Roxette”, Russian singers Agutin, Sjutkin, Linda and others. Some people go to musics schools, they play different musical instruments, sing in the chorus, try to compose music.
Unfortunately there are so many ungifted singers on the stages, that it makes me sad.
To have a good producer doesn’t mean to have good ears and voice. I think that only talented people can claim to be singers.
I like listening to music. However, I only listen to it in certain situations. For example, I always switch on my player and listen to music when I have to travel somewhere far. A lot of people turn on their record players when they do some routine work. As for me, I love listening to music when I tidy up my house. I like English and Russian songs. My favourite musical style is pop. I like it because these songs are very simple and you can listen to this kind of music in any situation. It suits every mood. There are a lot of songs which I know by heart and enjoy singing them along with the singer.
I don’t like heavy music. It makes me feel depressed. However, I like listening to the legends of classical rock, such as Scorpions. Their songs cannot be compared to modern ones.
Sometimes I just turn on tranquil melodies. It can be sound of waves or other sounds of nature. This type of music helps me to relax after a long day. Usually this music playson low volume somewhere in the background. I can switch it on when I study as it helps to be in the right mood.
There is no doubt that music plays a significant role in our life. It helps to relax. It helps to release the energy. It adds some fun to parties. It creates special atmosphere during a romantic date. It benefits little babies. It unites people. And these points are just a few to name. Music brightens our life and I am glad that every person in the world can find his or her own favourite type of music.

But what is music? Specialists explain that music isn’t only a combination of pleasant sounds. It is an art that reflects life. There are a lot of different kinds of music. Some of them appeared a long time ago, and some are modern. For example, pop and rap music, rock and indie music, industrial, disco and techno music, and, of course, never forget classic music and folk. Folk songs are very melodious and pleasant. Classical music is often associated with the music of the past. However, this style also includes music being written now, we call it neo-classical music. Rap is a modern musical style where the performer speaks or shouts out the words in rhymes to a certain drum loop. I think everyone knows Eminem or Beastie Boys.
Music plays an important role in movies. It emphasizes the depth of feelings of actors. It makes tense moments more exciting and pleasant moments more tender. Films would be boring and not interesting without music.
When I was a teenager I liked listening to pop music. I think you remember Backstreet Boys, Britney Spears, Nsync and their songs about unrequited love. Recently I’m keen on rock and indie music. When I need to focus on an important task I turn on the Queen or Aerosmith. When I want to relax after a stressful day I listen to classical music. It gives me delight, pleasure and a feeling of happiness. Some pieces of classical music are really wonderful. By the way, I used to play the piano some time ago.
Music is beauty in sounds and our magic source of inspiration.

На мой взгляд, люди не могут жить без музыки. Мы слышим ее повсюду: дома, на улице, в торговых центрах, в концертных залах. Мы сочиняем музыку, слушаем ее и танцуем под нее.
Но что такое музыка? Специалисты объясняют, что музыка — это не только сочетание приятных звуков. Это искусство, которое отражает жизнь. Существует много разных видов музыки. Некоторые из них появились давно, а некоторые совсем недавно. Например, поп и рэп-музыка, рок и инди-музыка, индустриальная, диско и техно-музыка и, конечно же, никогда не забываем классическую музыку и фолк (народная).
Народные песни очень мелодичны и приятны для прослушивания. Классическая музыка часто ассоциируется с музыкой прошлого. Однако этот стиль также включает в себя музыку, написанную сейчас, мы называем ее неоклассикой. Рэп — это современный музыкальный стиль, в котором исполнитель говорит или выкрикивает слова в рифмах под определенный цикл ударных. Я думаю, все знают Эминема или Бисти Бойс.

Some people are fond of folk music. There are numerous folk groups in our country. It is interesting to listen to their music and songs. Last week my friends and I visited a concert of folk music. This concert made a great impression on us.
Some people are fond of classical music, but young people prefer modern music: rap, rock and pop music. If you want to listen to modern music you can attend the music halls and the concerts of popular groups and singers.
I like to listen to the songs by our Russian popular singers. They are talented singers and composers, and I like to attend their concerts. My friends and I buy tickets beforehand and often take flowers for our favourite singers.
Both classical and modern music are popular in our country. My friend Mike is fond of classical music. Sometimes he spends his free time, listening to music by Wolfgang Mozart and other composers. The Fourth symphony and the Sixth symphony by Shostakovich strongly impressed him.

Everybody likes music: some people enjoy classical music, others are fond of pop music. For some of them music is a voice for the thoughts and feelings. For others it’s a harmless way to relax (1) and have fun. So many people, so many opinions. You can sometimes understand better the inner world (2) of the person when you speak on music because it is a short way to see if your friend shares your musical values (3) or not.
Some young people prefer classical music to rock and pop music because they consider that rock and pop lost their importance nowadays. Everything is controlled by machines and technology. Ten or twenty years ago there were real artists writing real songs and now all you can get is synthesisers (4) and dance music.
But among young people there are many fans of pop music who consider that pop music is still better today than ever before. There are stars all over the world with lots of different styles and images. And it’s great! Pop is like big fun-fair (5). If you can’t have a good time it’s nobody’s fault (6) but yours. The names of the biggest stars in music of the 20th century are: Elvis Presley, the Beatles, Michael Jackson, Madonna and many others.
Best of all I like Michael Jackson who is called a living legend (7). I have many cassettes (8) with his songs and often listen to them because to my mind his music is first of all extraordinary and creative (9).
I prefer music among all arts because it speaks a universal language and makes the world brighter.
Все любят музыку: некоторые предпочитает классическую, другие восхищаются популярной. Для некоторых из них музыка- это выражение мыслей и чувств. Для других- лучший способ отдохнуть и развлекаться. Сколько людей – столько и мнений. Иногда можно лучше понять внутренний мир человека, поговорив о музыке, потому что это простой способ увидеть, или твои друзья разделяют твои музыкальные взгляды, или нет.
Некоторые молодые люди отдают предпочтение классической музыке, а не року или поп-музыке, потому что считают, что рок и поп-музыка потеряли свою значимость на сегодняшний день. Потому что все зависит только от машин и технологий. Десять или двадцать лет назад были настоящие художники, которые писали настоящие песни, а сейчас все, что можно услышать, это только синтезаторы и танцевальная музыка.
Но среди молодых людей есть немало поклонников популярной музыки, которые считают, что она сейчас значительно лучше, чем когда-либо ранее. Во всем мире звезды музыки отличаются стилем и имиджем. И это прекрасно! Популярная музыка – словно ярмарка. И если ты не получаешь от этого удовольствие, то это только твоя вина, никого другого. Вот имена величайших звезд музыки XX века: Элвис Пресли, “Битлз”, Майкл Джексон, Мадонна и многие другие.
Больше всего мне нравится Майкл Джексон, которого называют живой легендой. Я имею немало кассет с записями его песен и часто их слушаю, поскольку, по моему мнению, его музыка – чрезвычайная и творческая.

In Britain there are three popular musical centuries. Such as: Scotland, England and Wales. Only in Britain you can listen to bagpipe music, but its birthplace is Scotland. Also Scotland is well known because of Edinburgh international Festival.
The capital of England is the famous city called London. Liverpool in England is the home town of the Beatles. Also England is well known because of Aldeburgh Festival.
Wales is well known because of Eisteddfod Festival. I would like to speak about this Festival. It is well known because Eisteddfod is an international festival of folk-dancing and music. It helds every July at Llangollen, North Wales. It has no bardic content and is conducted in English. Its formal title is the International Music Eisteddfod.
Nowadays, many people like to listen to music. As for me, I think that music plays an important role in our life. This is something that helps me to be in a good mood, to understand different things and relax. Music brings me pleasure and delights, fills my life with great expectations of joy and happiness. It fills me with new ideas.
There are many different styles of music. Such as: Jazz, Pop, Rock, Classical, as well as new musical directions, such as: Break Beat Rap, Hip-Hop, and many others. But I prefer classical. At home I have a wonderful collection of CDs, which includes Rap, Hip-Hop, Pop and classical. I also have a large collection of music, videos and photos of popular bands on my computer.
I think I`m a good listener, except for the classics, I also like the loud and energy music, but my mum doesn`t like this music. She does not like loud music and noise. She prefers quiet and relaxing music.
My understanding of music and sensitivity to different styles usually depends on my mood. For example, when I`m sad, I prefer quiet, calm, soft music. If I`m fine, I prefer rhythmic and dance music. I think it is better to listen to in the company of good friends.
My favourite music is classical. When I listen to classical music it pictures in my mind fragments of my life, sad and funny, it depends on the nature of music. Music can change a person`s life. Music can help to solve some my problems. But I find classical music relaxing. This music has been living for centuries. It is in every corner of our land. Some people don`t understand classical music, it creates a special spiritual world for the listener that enriches his inner life and makes him happy. When I listen to «the Ninth Symphony » by Beethoven, I enjoy this wonderful music. It helps me feel much better. Of course, it`s difficult to find the way into serious classical music. I like to play classical music. This music makes me feel like dreaming.
We don`t have much information about folk music. This music lives on for centuries. Every nation has its own national music and dance ensembles and choirs. The British are very fond of their folk music. They held special Folk Festivals, where the young people can learn more about their national culture and folk music.
Music can influence people. It inspires and enriches people. It makes me think of my happy and dark days. Music is an art, a powerful force direct emotional effect. It can be a good friend, and help us to live.

People can not imagine their life without music. We listen to music, dance to music or learn to play musical instruments. Music has become the part of our life. There is music everywhere: at home, in a concert hall, in the park, at the seaside, in the forest and even in the street, on radio and TV.

Music occupies an important place in our life. We cant live without it. People have different musical tastes depending on their age, education and even mood. Some people like classical music, others prefer rock, pop or jazz, but nobody is indifferent to it.
As for me I used to sing in front of the mirror in my childhood. A pencil box served me as a microphone and I imitated a show on the stage. It was a great fun!
At present I can’t spend a day without music. In the morning I prefer fast rhythmical music. It’s like a cup of coffee or a cool shower that encourages you and freshens you up. So, since the early morning you are in a cheerful spirit and the forthcoming day seems to give many pleasant surprises. Isn’t it a great start of the day?
If you are in a bad humour, you’d better turn to music. Nothing can help you better to forget about your problems than a merry song. Listen to your favourite melody and your spleen will disappear, and you are in a good temper again.
After a hard working day I like to listen to some slow, beautiful melody. It helps me to relax and to forget about my tiredness.
In fact, music is an integral part of my life and I can’t just imagine how I would live without it!

Музыка занимает важное место в нашей жизни. Мы не можем жить без нее. У людей различные музыкальные вкусы в зависимости от их возраста, образования и даже настроения. Некоторые люди любят классическую музыку, другие предпочитают рок, поп или джаз, но никто не остается безразличным к ней.
Что касается меня, в детстве я имел обыкновение петь перед зеркалом. Пенал служил мне микрофоном, и я изображал выступление на сцене. Это было очень забавно.
В настоящее время я не могу провести и дня без музыки. Утром я предпочитаю быструю ритмичную музыку. Это как чашка кофе или прохладный душ, который бодрит и освежает вас. Если с раннего утра вы находитесь в бодром настроении, то и предстоящий день преподнесет много приятных сюрпризов. Разве это не хорошее начало дня?
Если вы находитесь в плохом настроении, вам лучше включить музыку. Ничто не поможет вам забыть о ваших проблемах лучше, чем веселая песня. Послушайте свою любимую мелодию, и ваше уныние исчезнет, и вы снова будете в хорошем настроении.

We listening to the music every day and everywhere. But who can tell us what is it music ? Some people think that it’s just arrangement of sounds or voices. But I think it’s something more. Some people even say that there is no practical use for mankind in music. It’s not a food, shelter, medicines and you cannot even touch it. But the other spend all their lives to create it. May be their are wrong? Let’s try to check this out.
Music is what follows us almost everywhere — at home, at work, in shops, we listen to it while travelling, dreaming, and playing on the computer… As far as I’m concerned music is a necessary part of my life. I suppose all of us wouldn’t be able to live in a way we live now if music didn’t exist. And it’s all because of the enormous influence of music on our lives.
Well, music evokes all kinds of emotions — your temper goes up when you listen to a cheerful piece of music, doesn’t it? Some songs make you recollect various events — and you feel nostalgia, sometimes even anguish. Hundreds of songs are about love — and when you’re in love you feel these songs are natural for you and the melody and lyrics express exactly what you feel. Serene and clear music washes away your sorrow, soul-elevating songs help to understand that life goes on. On the other hand, music can make you feel anxiety, boredom or even rage if it’s not the «right» music for you. I believe that music influences my life a lot. It helps me to grow up, to overcome difficulties, to feel various emotions more deeply. I also listen to songs as background music and, if to choose the right piece of music, it’s a very useful collaboration. For example, right now I’m listening to peaceful sweet melodies and it stimulates my activity. I like listening to my favourite songs, very eloquent and striking, while drawing and painting. Here I should say that the topic and the mood of my pictures usually depend on this music. And I often enjoy listening to music while going somewhere or just strolling down the streets. Firstly it entertains me and makes the trip shorter, secondly it helps to notice the beauty of our town. How wonderful it’s to watch yellow leaves falling, the sun shining and listen to your favourite songs at the same time.
But the influence of music can be negative, even destructive sometimes. Some «musical» bands are not musical at all, they don’t play music but only make some noise and a monotonous succession of sounds. Scientists say that listening to it may even make your spatial reasoning more difficult. Moreover, the lyrics are not of a high-quality, they are very rude, violent, primitive and sometimes preach fascism and ruthlessness. Certainly the intake of such «music» can’t appeal to good feelings. Music can also become an obsession. Tn this case we can say that music is destructive because these people can’t enjoy the life entirely.
So, why do different people prefer various kinds of music? The reason for it is that we all have different mental, physical and emotional tendencies. The physical and psychological reactions will differ because of the varying characteristics we have inherited. Each of us has his own spiritual world and chooses the music which is natural for him. In my opinion the choice of music also depends on our age and gender. For instance, children like simple cheerful songs, young lads prefer either rock or rap — it entertains them, its lyrics help to find the solution to problems. Lots of teenager-girls are fond of calm songs about love, adults listen to rather simple music as background music while driving to work or reading newspapers. Our Grannies and Granddads like old songs which remind them of their past. That’s why sometimes there is misunderstanding between fathers and sons, girls and boys — people don’t want to listen to other opinions, don’t want to understand we all have different perception of the world.
Nowadays there are numerous genres of music but the main are classical, pop, rock and rap music. The majority of people listen to all kinds of music — the name of the genres doesn’t play any role for them,’songs themselves should be attractive — it can be heavy-metal music or a tender clear pop hit. But some people prefer only one genre (for example, classical music) and try to convince everybody that rock or rap are not worth listening to. I can’t stand such declarations — if a person finds classical music boring it doesn’t mean he is stupid! At the same time rock-fans are not always rude as many people think. And I reckon that if more people could make allowances for other opinions there would be fewer conflicts and offences. I think that people refer different music to various genres because music needs to be classified. Without it people just cannot find the song they want. So the aim of classification is comfort not offences. I listen to various music, usually rock, but I also like classical and high-quality pop music. Perhaps I don’t listen to rap and hip-hop only, maybe
because I am not fond of its lyrics, Nowadays rock is a very wide notion: I suppose no one knows all its genres.
I prefer indie-rock. Indie means something strange, not usual, something new. It’s not like heavy metal, for example, it’s much more melodic and personal, I think. Tndie-rock musicians sing about friendship, growing up, growing old, love, politics, the meaning of life — so their lyrics aren’t primitive (like the lyrics of most pop songs), they make you reason. I believe you can find there the answers to your questions. Another reason for my appreciation of Tndie-rock is that the sounds of their music know no bounds — besides guitars and drams they can use the piano, the violin, the woodwinds, even the organ! I know lots of songs which were recorded with a symphony orchestra. So we can see that even rock and classical music can «get along with» each other.
From time to time I listen to light cheerful songs with almost senseless lyrics — they raise my mood and help to relax. All in all, my choice of music depends on the situation.
Taking everything into account I’d like to say that music is something personal for each human — it’s not just an entertainment but a part of your soul and mind. That’s why choose what you like, not what is popular or considered to be good. You’ll be very surprised with results — maybe you’ll see everything from another point of view. And — who knows? — music will encourage you to do what you have never dared to do or inspire you to create something so striking that it will change many people’s lives.

Также, я верю, что они могут рисовать картины и паказывать их чувства с помощью их музыки или стихов. Они могут заставить вас плакать или смеяться. Больше того, они могут заставить вас думать о глобальных проблемах, или ты можешь лежать и мечтать в то время, как слушаешь музыку.

I love music, I think people can not live without it. The first thing I do in the morning I switch on my tape — recorder.
We can hear music everywhere: in the streets, in the shops, on TV, over the radio, in the cars, in the parks, everywhere. I think it’s really doesn’t matter what kind of music you prefer: rock, pop, classical, jazz. A lot of people are fond of music. They buy tapes, go to the concerts, visit Concert Halls and Opera Theatres.
I enjoy listening music because it reflects my moods and emotions. Very often when I’m blue, I play my favourite merry songs and feel much better.
Sometimes I attend music halls and the concerts, when popular groups and singers are there. I like watching music programs on TV. I like to know more and more about popular talented groups and singers I like.
One wall of my room is covered with posters of “Bon Jovi”, “Scorpions”, “Roxette”, Russian singers Agutin, Sjutkin, Linda and others. Some people go to musics schools, they play different musical instruments, sing in the chorus, try to compose music.
Unfortunately there are so many ungifted singers on the stages, that it makes me sad.
To have a good producer doesn’t mean to have good ears and voice. I think that only talented people can claim to be singers.
Music is a big part of our life. It sounds everywhere – at home, in the street, in the concert halls, at school, in the forest and in our souls, Many people, especially teenagers, can not imagine their life without music. I devote a lot of time to music. Music in my life means listening, enjoying, composing and performing.
It helps me in some situations. Fop example, it can make long and monotonous job not so boring. Besides, when I travel to a big city, I always take my MP3 player with me. Music helps me not to listen to that oppressing city noise and I can focus only on myself. It also helps me to communicatewith the people in the Internet who listen to the same kind of music like me.
When I listen to my stereo, I enter another world with different shades of complete loneliness, happiness, love and sometimes despair. Music can suit or not suit my mood but it always evokes emotions and makes my life richer and more enjoyable.
Besides listening to music, I create it myself. I have got one acoustic and one electro guitar, a piano in my house. There are some synthesizers on my computer. First, I create some melody with the help of the guitar or the piano and then I try to develop it. After that I choose the theme of my song and begin writing lyrics. I am the author of about fifteen songs.
I am trying to find the supporters to create a music band. My dream is to play in front of thousands of young people who enjoy my music and words and lyrics.
Музыка- это большая часть нашей жизни. Она звучит везде – дома, на улице, в концертных залах, в школе, в лесу и в наших душах. Многие, особенно молодые люди, не могут представить свою жизнь без музыки.
Я посвящаю много времени музыке. Музыка в моей жизни – это значит слушать, наслаждаться, сочинять и исполнять.
Она помогает мне в некоторых ситуациях. Например, она может сделать длинную и монотонную работу не такой скучной. Кроме того, когда я путешествую в большой город, я всегда беру свой МП3 плейер. Музыка помогает мне не слышать тот угнетающий городской шум и позволяет сосредоточиться на самом себе. Она также помогает мне общаться в сети с теми людьми, которые слушают такую же музыку, что и я.

Кроме того, что я просто слушаю музыку, я создаю её сам. В моём доме есть акустическая гитара, электрогитара и фортепьяно. На компьютере есть синтезаторы. Сначала я создаю мелодию с помощью гитары или фортепьяно, а потом пытаюсь её развивать. После этого я выбираю тему песни и пишу стихи. Я – автор уже почти пятнадцати песен. Сейчас я пытаюсь найти единомышленников для создания музыкальной группы. Моя мечта – играть перед тысячами молодых людей, которым будет нравиться и моя музыка, и мои слова.

I like listening to music. However, I only listen to it in certain situations. For example, I always switch on my player and listen to music when I have to travel somewhere far. A lot of people turn on their record players when they do some routine work. As for me, I love listening to music when I tidy up my house. I like English and Russian songs. My favourite musical style is pop. I like it because these songs are very simple and you can listen to this kind of music in any situation. It suits every mood. There are a lot of songs which I know by heart and enjoy singing them along with the singer.
I don’t like heavy music. It makes me feel depressed. However, I like listening to the legends of classical rock, such as Scorpions. Their songs cannot be compared to modern ones.
Sometimes I just turn on tranquil melodies. It can be sound of waves or other sounds of nature. This type of music helps me to relax after a long day. Usually this music playson low volume somewhere in the background. I can switch it on when I study as it helps to be in the right mood.
There is no doubt that music plays a significant role in our life. It helps to relax. It helps to release the energy. It adds some fun to parties. It creates special atmosphere during a romantic date. It benefits little babies. It unites people. And these points are just a few to name. Music brightens our life and I am glad that every person in the world can find his or her own favourite type of music.

I love music, I
think people can not live without it. The first thing I do in
the morning I switch on my tape — recorder.
We can hear music
everywhere: in the streets, in the shops, on TV, over the radio,
in the cars, in the parks, everywhere. I think it’s really
doesn’t matter what kind of music you prefer: rock, pop,
classical, jazz. A lot of people are fond of music. They buy
tapes, go to the concerts, visit Concert Halls and Opera
Theatres.
I enjoy listening
music because it reflects my moods and emotions. Very often when
I’m blue, I play my favourite merry songs and feel much better.
Sometimes I
attend music halls and the concerts, when popular groups and
singers are there. I like watching music programs on TV. I like
to know more and more about popular talented groups and singers
I like.
One wall of my
room is covered with posters of “Bon Jovi”, “Scorpions”, “Roxette”,
Russian singers Agutin, Sjutkin, Linda and others. Some people
go to musics schools, they play different musical instruments,
sing in the chorus, try to compose music.
Unfortunately
there are so many ungifted singers on the stages, that it makes
me sad. To have a good producer doesn’t mean to have good ears
and voice. I think that only talented people can claim to be
singers.

Я люблю музыку, и мне кажется, что
люди не могут жить без нее. Первое, что я делаю утром — это
включаю магнитофон.
Мы можем слышать музыку повсюду: на
улицах, в магазинах, по телевизору и радио, в машинах, парках —
везде. Я думаю, что не имеет никакого значения, какую музыку вы
предпочитаете: рок, поп, классическую, джаз. Многим людям
нравится музыка. Они покупают кассеты, ходят на концерты,
посещают филармонии и оперные театры.
Мне очень нравится слушать музыку,
потому что она отражает мои настроения и эмоции. Очень часто,
когда мне грустно, я включаю свои любимые веселые песни и
чувствую себя намного лучше.
Иногда я посещаю концертные залы,
когда мои любимые группы или исполнители там выступают. Мне
нравится смотреть музыкальные передачи по телевизору. Мне
нравится узнавать больше и больше о популярных талантливых
группах и исполнителях, которые мне нравятся.
Одна стена в моей комнате оклеена
плакатами “Бон Джови”, “Скорпионз”, “Роксет”. плакатами с
изображением российских исполнителей Агутина, Сюткина, Линды.
Некоторые ходят в музыкальные школы.
Они играют на различных музыкальных инструментах, поют в хоре,
пытаются сочинять музыку.
К сожалению, на нашей эстраде сейчас
так много бездарных исполнителей, что меня это огорчает. Иметь
хорошего продюсера — еще не значит иметь хороший слух или голос.
Мне кажется, что только талантливые люди имеют право называться
певцами.

To my mind, people cannot live without music. We hear it everywhere: at home, in the street, in shopping malls, in any concert halls. We compose the music, listen to it and dance to it.
But what is music? Specialists explain that music isn’t only a combination of pleasant sounds. It is an art that reflects life. There are a lot of different kinds of music. Some of them appeared a long time ago, and some are modern. For example, pop and rap music, rock and indie music, industrial, disco and techno music, and, of course, never forget classic music and folk. Folk songs are very melodious and pleasant. Classical music is often associated with the music of the past. However, this style also includes music being written now, we call it neo-classical music. Rap is a modern musical style where the performer speaks or shouts out the words in rhymes to a certain drum loop. I think everyone knows Eminem or Beastie Boys.
Music plays an important role in movies. It emphasizes the depth of feelings of actors. It makes tense moments more exciting and pleasant moments more tender. Films would be boring and not interesting without music.
When I was a teenager I liked listening to pop music. I think you remember Backstreet Boys, Britney Spears, Nsync and their songs about unrequited love. Recently I’m keen on rock and indie music. When I need to focus on an important task I turn on the Queen or Aerosmith. When I want to relax after a stressful day I listen to classical music. It gives me delight, pleasure and a feeling of happiness. Some pieces of classical music are really wonderful. By the way, I used to play the piano some time ago.
Music is beauty in sounds and our magic source of inspiration.

На мой взгляд, люди не могут жить без музыки. Мы слышим ее повсюду: дома, на улице, в торговых центрах, в концертных залах. Мы сочиняем музыку, слушаем ее и танцуем под нее.
Но что такое музыка? Специалисты объясняют, что музыка — это не только сочетание приятных звуков. Это искусство, которое отражает жизнь. Существует много разных видов музыки. Некоторые из них появились давно, а некоторые совсем недавно. Например, поп и рэп-музыка, рок и инди-музыка, индустриальная, диско и техно-музыка и, конечно же, никогда не забываем классическую музыку и фолк (народная).
Народные песни очень мелодичны и приятны для прослушивания. Классическая музыка часто ассоциируется с музыкой прошлого. Однако этот стиль также включает в себя музыку, написанную сейчас, мы называем ее неоклассикой. Рэп — это современный музыкальный стиль, в котором исполнитель говорит или выкрикивает слова в рифмах под определенный цикл ударных. Я думаю, все знают Эминема или Бисти Бойс.
Музыка играет важную роль в кино. Она подчеркивает глубину чувств актеров. Она делает напряженные моменты более захватывающими, a приятные моменты — более нежными. Фильмы были бы скучными и неинтересными без музыки.
Когда я была подростком, мне нравилось слушать поп-музыку. Думаю, вы помните Backstreet Boys, Бритни Спирс, Nsync и их песни о безответной любви. В последнее время я увлекаюсь рок и инди-музыкой. Когда мне нужно сосредоточиться на важной задаче, я включаю Queen или Aerosmith. Когда я хочу расслабиться после напряженного дня, то слушаю классическую музыку. Music plays a big role in my life. I listen to music everyday. I think that there is no person in the world who doesn`t like listening to music. The only difference between music lovers is style of music they listen to. The first likes pop, the second is fond of rock`n`roll, the third is keen on different types of club music…
It doesn`t matter, how we are, are we sad or happy, are we depressed or elated – music is side by side with us forever.
What about me, music is connected with my memories. Other people can remember, for example, the person they were walking with or clothes they were wearing when they arein a particular place, where they have already been. I recall the songs i was listening to. When i see the kindergarden, i used to go when i was a child, i remember the songs from the cartoons. Songs help me to recall my memories from my childhood and from recent times.
Music is an important part of my life, and i think that one day i will start to compose my own songs, which will show my feelings and thoughts.
Музыка играет большую роль в моей жизни. Я слушаю музыку каждый день. Я думаю, что в мире нет такого человека, кто бы не любил слушать музыку. Единственное различие между меломанами это стиль музыки, которую они слушают. Первый любит поп, второй – рок`н`ролл, третий увлекается различной клубной музыкой…
Не имеет значения, как мы себя чувствуем, грустны мы или счастливы, в депрессии ли мы или в приподнятом настроении – музыка всегда рядом с нами.
Что насчет меня, музыка связана с моими воспоминаниями. Другие люди могут вспомнить, например, человека, с которым они гуляли, или одежду, которую они носили, когда они находятся в каком-либо месте, где они уже были. Я вспоминаю музыку, которую слушала. Когда я вижу детский сад, куда я ходила будучи ребенком, мне вспоминаются мелодии из мультиков. Песни помогают мне воскрешать воспоминания из детства и из недавнего времени.
Музыка – важная часть моей жизни, и я думаю, что однажды я начну сочинять свои собственные песни, которые будут демонстрировать мои чувства и мысли.

It is difficult to live without music. We hear music everywhere: in the streets, at home, over the radio and on TV, in the shops, in the parks and in the concert halls, at the seaside, sometimes in the forest.
We can’t live without music. We like to listen to music, we enjoy dancing to music, we can play musical instruments.
Music is a combination of many sounds. They are short and long, weak and strong. Music reflects peoples mood and emotions.
Some people are fond of folk music. There are numerous folk groups in our country. It is interesting to listen to their music and songs. Last week my friends and I visited a concert of folk music. This concert made a great impression on us.
Some people are fond of classical music, but young people prefer modern music: rap, rock and pop music. If you want to listen to modern music you can attend the music halls and the concerts of popular groups and singers.
I like to listen to the songs by our Russian popular singers. They are talented singers and composers, and I like to attend their concerts. My friends and I buy tickets beforehand and often take flowers for our favourite singers.
Both classical and modern music are popular in our country. My friend Mike is fond of classical music. Sometimes he spends his free time, listening to music by Wolfgang Mozart and other composers. The Fourth symphony and the Sixth symphony by Shostakovich strongly impressed him.

Трудно жить без музыки. Мы слышим музыку всюду: на улицах, дома, по радио и по телевидению, в магазинах, в парках, в концертных залах и на побережье, иногда в лесу.
Мы не можем жить без музыки. Нам нравится слушать музыку, мы любим танцевать под музыку, мы умеем играем на музыкальных инструментах.
Музыка — сочетание многих звуков. Они короткие и длинные, слабые и сильные. Музыка отражает настроение и эмоции людей.
Некоторые люди любят народную музыку. В нашей стране есть многочисленные фольклорные группы. Интересно слушать их музыку и песни. На прошлой неделе мы с друзьями посетили концерт народной музыки. Этот концерт произвел на нас большое впечатление.
Некоторые люди любят классику, но молодежь предпочитает современную музыку: рэп, рок и поп-музыку. Если вы хотите послушать современную музыку, вы можете посетить мюзик-холлы и концерты популярных групп и певцов.
Мне нравится слушать песни в исполнении наших российских популярных певцов. Это талантливые певцы и композиторы, и мне нравится ходить на их концерты. Мы с друзьями покупаем билеты заранее и часто дарим нашим любимым исполнителям цветы.
И классическая, и современная музыка популярна в нашей стране. Мой друг Миша любит классическую музыку. Иногда он проводит свое свободное время, слушая музыку Вольфганга Моцарта и других композиторов. «Четвертая симфония» и «Шестая симфония» Шостаковича произвели на него сильное впечатление.

What are your preferences in music?

Everybody likes music: some people enjoy classical music, others are fond of pop music. For some of them music is a voice for the thoughts and feelings. For others it’s a harmless way to relax (1) and have fun. So many people, so many opinions. You can sometimes understand better the inner world (2) of the person when you speak on music because it is a short way to see if your friend shares your musical values (3) or not.
Some young people prefer classical music to rock and pop music because they consider that rock and pop lost their importance nowadays. Everything is controlled by machines and technology. Ten or twenty years ago there were real artists writing real songs and now all you can get is synthesisers (4) and dance music.
But among young people there are many fans of pop music who consider that pop music is still better today than ever before. There are stars all over the world with lots of different styles and images. And it’s great! Pop is like big fun-fair (5). If you can’t have a good time it’s nobody’s fault (6) but yours. The names of the biggest stars in music of the 20th century are: Elvis Presley, the Beatles, Michael Jackson, Madonna and many others.
Best of all I like Michael Jackson who is called a living legend (7). I have many cassettes (8) with his songs and often listen to them because to my mind his music is first of all extraordinary and creative (9).
I prefer music among all arts because it speaks a universal language and makes the world brighter.
Все любят музыку: некоторые предпочитает классическую, другие восхищаются популярной. Для некоторых из них музыка- это выражение мыслей и чувств. Для других- лучший способ отдохнуть и развлекаться. Сколько людей – столько и мнений. Иногда можно лучше понять внутренний мир человека, поговорив о музыке, потому что это простой способ увидеть, или твои друзья разделяют твои музыкальные взгляды, или нет.
Некоторые молодые люди отдают предпочтение классической музыке, а не року или поп-музыке, потому что считают, что рок и поп-музыка потеряли свою значимость на сегодняшний день. Потому что все зависит только от машин и технологий. Десять или двадцать лет назад были настоящие художники, которые писали настоящие песни, а сейчас все, что можно услышать, это только синтезаторы и танцевальная музыка.
Но среди молодых людей есть немало поклонников популярной музыки, которые считают, что она сейчас значительно лучше, чем когда-либо ранее. Во всем мире звезды музыки отличаются стилем и имиджем. И это прекрасно! Популярная музыка – словно ярмарка. И если ты не получаешь от этого удовольствие, то это только твоя вина, никого другого. Вот имена величайших звезд музыки XX века: Элвис Пресли, “Битлз”, Майкл Джексон, Мадонна и многие другие.
Больше всего мне нравится Майкл Джексон, которого называют живой легендой. Я имею немало кассет с записями его песен и часто их слушаю, поскольку, по моему мнению, его музыка – чрезвычайная и творческая.
Я предпочитаю музыке среди всех искусств по-тому, что музыка говорит на одном языке и делает этот мир ярче.

In Britain there are three popular musical centuries. Such as: Scotland, England and Wales. Only in Britain you can listen to bagpipe music, but its birthplace is Scotland. Also Scotland is well known because of Edinburgh international Festival.
The capital of England is the famous city called London. Liverpool in England is the home town of the Beatles. Also England is well known because of Aldeburgh Festival.
Wales is well known because of Eisteddfod Festival. I would like to speak about this Festival. It is well known because Eisteddfod is an international festival of folk-dancing and music. It helds every July at Llangollen, North Wales. It has no bardic content and is conducted in English. Its formal title is the International Music Eisteddfod.
Nowadays, many people like to listen to music. As for me, I think that music plays an important role in our life. This is something that helps me to be in a good mood, to understand different things and relax. Music brings me pleasure and delights, fills my life with great expectations of joy and happiness. It fills me with new ideas.
There are many different styles of music. Such as: Jazz, Pop, Rock, Classical, as well as new musical directions, such as: Break Beat Rap, Hip-Hop, and many others. But I prefer classical. At home I have a wonderful collection of CDs, which includes Rap, Hip-Hop, Pop and classical. I also have a large collection of music, videos and photos of popular bands on my computer.
I think I`m a good listener, except for the classics, I also like the loud and energy music, but my mum doesn`t like this music. She does not like loud music and noise. She prefers quiet and relaxing music.
My understanding of music and sensitivity to different styles usually depends on my mood. For example, when I`m sad, I prefer quiet, calm, soft music. If I`m fine, I prefer rhythmic and dance music. I think it is better to listen to in the company of good friends.
My favourite music is classical. When I listen to classical music it pictures in my mind fragments of my life, sad and funny, it depends on the nature of music. Music can change a person`s life. Music can help to solve some my problems. But I find classical music relaxing. This music has been living for centuries. It is in every corner of our land. Some people don`t understand classical music, it creates a special spiritual world for the listener that enriches his inner life and makes him happy. When I listen to «the Ninth Symphony » by Beethoven, I enjoy this wonderful music. It helps me feel much better. Of course, it`s difficult to find the way into serious classical music. I like to play classical music. This music makes me feel like dreaming.
We don`t have much information about folk music. This music lives on for centuries. Every nation has its own national music and dance ensembles and choirs. The British are very fond of their folk music. They held special Folk Festivals, where the young people can learn more about their national culture and folk music.
Music can influence people. It inspires and enriches people. It makes me think of my happy and dark days. Music is an art, a powerful force direct emotional effect. It can be a good friend, and help us to live.

As there are many definitions for music there are many divisions and groupings of music. Among the larger genres are classical music and popular music or commercial music. The most popular genres of music today are rock, metal, disco, pop-music, rave, hip hop, new age, etc.

Music in Our Life (2)
Music occupies an important place in our life. We cant live without it. People have different musical tastes depending on their age, education and even mood. Some people like classical music, others prefer rock, pop or jazz, but nobody is indifferent to it.
As for me I used to sing in front of the mirror in my childhood. A pencil box served me as a microphone and I imitated a show on the stage. It was a great fun!
At present I can’t spend a day without music. In the morning I prefer fast rhythmical music. It’s like a cup of coffee or a cool shower that encourages you and freshens you up. So, since the early morning you are in a cheerful spirit and the forthcoming day seems to give many pleasant surprises. Isn’t it a great start of the day?
If you are in a bad humour, you’d better turn to music. Nothing can help you better to forget about your problems than a merry song. Listen to your favourite melody and your spleen will disappear, and you are in a good temper again.
After a hard working day I like to listen to some slow, beautiful melody. It helps me to relax and to forget about my tiredness.
In fact, music is an integral part of my life and I can’t just imagine how I would live without it!

Музыка занимает важное место в нашей жизни. Мы не можем жить без нее. У людей различные музыкальные вкусы в зависимости от их возраста, образования и даже настроения. Некоторые люди любят классическую музыку, другие предпочитают рок, поп или джаз, но никто не остается безразличным к ней.
Что касается меня, в детстве я имел обыкновение петь перед зеркалом. Пенал служил мне микрофоном, и я изображал выступление на сцене. Это было очень забавно.
В настоящее время я не могу провести и дня без музыки. Утром я предпочитаю быструю ритмичную музыку. Это как чашка кофе или прохладный душ, который бодрит и освежает вас. Если с раннего утра вы находитесь в бодром настроении, то и предстоящий день преподнесет много приятных сюрпризов. Разве это не хорошее начало дня?
Если вы находитесь в плохом настроении, вам лучше включить музыку. Ничто не поможет вам забыть о ваших проблемах лучше, чем веселая песня. Послушайте свою любимую мелодию, и ваше уныние исчезнет, и вы снова будете в хорошем настроении.
После трудного рабочего дня я люблю слушать какую-то медленную, красивую мелодию. Это помогает мне расслабиться и забыть о моей усталости.
Фактически, музыка — неотъемлемая часть моей жизни, и я просто не могу вообразить, как бы я жил без нее!
We listening to the music every day and everywhere. But who can tell us what is it music ? Some people think that it’s just arrangement of sounds or voices. But I think it’s something more. Some people even say that there is no practical use for mankind in music. It’s not a food, shelter, medicines and you cannot even touch it. But the other spend all their lives to create it. May be their are wrong? Let’s try to check this out.
Music is what follows us almost everywhere — at home, at work, in shops, we listen to it while travelling, dreaming, and playing on the computer… As far as I’m concerned music is a necessary part of my life. I suppose all of us wouldn’t be able to live in a way we live now if music didn’t exist. And it’s all because of the enormous influence of music on our lives.
Well, music evokes all kinds of emotions — your temper goes up when you listen to a cheerful piece of music, doesn’t it? Some songs make you recollect various events — and you feel nostalgia, sometimes even anguish. Hundreds of songs are about love — and when you’re in love you feel these songs are natural for you and the melody and lyrics express exactly what you feel. Serene and clear music washes away your sorrow, soul-elevating songs help to understand that life goes on. On the other hand, music can make you feel anxiety, boredom or even rage if it’s not the «right» music for you. I believe that music influences my life a lot. It helps me to grow up, to overcome difficulties, to feel various emotions more deeply. I also listen to songs as background music and, if to choose the right piece of music, it’s a very useful collaboration. For example, right now I’m listening to peaceful sweet melodies and it stimulates my activity. I like listening to my favourite songs, very eloquent and striking, while drawing and painting. Here I should say that the topic and the mood of my pictures usually depend on this music. And I often enjoy listening to music while going somewhere or just strolling down the streets. Firstly it entertains me and makes the trip shorter, secondly it helps to notice the beauty of our town. How wonderful it’s to watch yellow leaves falling, the sun shining and listen to your favourite songs at the same time.
But the influence of music can be negative, even destructive sometimes. Some «musical» bands are not musical at all, they don’t play music but only make some noise and a monotonous succession of sounds. Scientists say that listening to it may even make your spatial reasoning more difficult. Moreover, the lyrics are not of a high-quality, they are very rude, violent, primitive and sometimes preach fascism and ruthlessness. Certainly the intake of such «music» can’t appeal to good feelings. Music can also become an obsession. Tn this case we can say that music is destructive because these people can’t enjoy the life entirely.
So, why do different people prefer various kinds of music? The reason for it is that we all have different mental, physical and emotional tendencies. The physical and psychological reactions will differ because of the varying characteristics we have inherited. Each of us has his own spiritual world and chooses the music which is natural for him. In my opinion the choice of music also depends on our age and gender. For instance, children like simple cheerful songs, young lads prefer either rock or rap — it entertains them, its lyrics help to find the solution to problems. Lots of teenager-girls are fond of calm songs about love, adults listen to rather simple music as background music while driving to work or reading newspapers. Our Grannies and Granddads like old songs which remind them of their past. That’s why sometimes there is misunderstanding between fathers and sons, girls and boys — people don’t want to listen to other opinions, don’t want to understand we all have different perception of the world.
Nowadays there are numerous genres of music but the main are classical, pop, rock and rap music. The majority of people listen to all kinds of music — the name of the genres doesn’t play any role for them,’songs themselves should be attractive — it can be heavy-metal music or a tender clear pop hit. But some people prefer only one genre (for example, classical music) and try to convince everybody that rock or rap are not worth listening to. I can’t stand such declarations — if a person finds classical music boring it doesn’t mean he is stupid! At the same time rock-fans are not always rude as many people think. And I reckon that if more people could make allowances for other opinions there would be fewer conflicts and offences. I think that people refer different music to various genres because music needs to be classified. Without it people just cannot find the song they want. So the aim of classification is comfort not offences. I listen to various music, usually rock, but I also like classical and high-quality pop music. Perhaps I don’t listen to rap and hip-hop only, maybe
because I am not fond of its lyrics, Nowadays rock is a very wide notion: I suppose no one knows all its genres.
I prefer indie-rock. Indie means something strange, not usual, something new. It’s not like heavy metal, for example, it’s much more melodic and personal, I think. Tndie-rock musicians sing about friendship, growing up, growing old, love, politics, the meaning of life — so their lyrics aren’t primitive (like the lyrics of most pop songs), they make you reason. I believe you can find there the answers to your questions. Another reason for my appreciation of Tndie-rock is that the sounds of their music know no bounds — besides guitars and drams they can use the piano, the violin, the woodwinds, even the organ! I know lots of songs which were recorded with a symphony orchestra. So we can see that even rock and classical music can «get along with» each other.
From time to time I listen to light cheerful songs with almost senseless lyrics — they raise my mood and help to relax. All in all, my choice of music depends on the situation.
Taking everything into account I’d like to say that music is something personal for each human — it’s not just an entertainment but a part of your soul and mind. That’s why choose what you like, not what is popular or considered to be good. You’ll be very surprised with results — maybe you’ll see everything from another point of view. And — who knows? — music will encourage you to do what you have never dared to do or inspire you to create something so striking that it will change many people’s lives.
