I like listening to music. However, I only listen to it in certain situations. For example, I always switch on my player and listen to music when I have to travel somewhere far. A lot of people turn on their record players when they do some routine work. As for me, I love listening to music when I tidy up my house. I like English and Russian songs. My favourite musical style is pop. I like it because these songs are very simple and you can listen to this kind of music in any situation. It suits every mood. There are a lot of songs which I know by heart and enjoy singing them along with the singer.
I don’t like heavy music. It makes me feel depressed. However, I like listening to the legends of classical rock, such as Scorpions. Their songs cannot be compared to modern ones.

Music is an art, which reflects life, people’s ideas and emotions. There are different musical genres: symphony, concerto, opera, ballet and others.
Some music is difficult to understand, but other’s types are not very difficult. Some people have an idea of classical music as of complicated art it’s difficult to find the way into it.
As a result of changing times many young people today are gravitating towards new rhythms and new styles. Music is simple, cheerful and up-to-date now. While listening to such music you can dance or just talk to friends.
Music affects our bodies. Some music promotes loving feelings, other – hate. Susan Burghardt said that all music can be divided into 3 types. The 1st is low-energy music that makes you feel bad. The next category is high-energy music that makes you feel better and it can help to normalize heart rate. The 3d category is prayerful music that is the most healing of all. Music is being used in hospitals, and doctors have found that 20 min. of soothing music is often effective than sleeping pills.
Different people prefer different kinds of music. As for me I listen to different kinds, but most of all I prefer pop music.

Classical music is often associated with the music of the past. However, this style also includes music being written now, and we may speak of modern classical music. Rap is a modern musical style where the singer speaks or shouts the words in time to music with a steady beat. Such groups as Public Enemy or House of Pain are leaders in this style.
Great Britain has produced more popular music stars than any other country. Over the last 30 years rock and pop music have been very popular in Britain. New styles, groups and singers continue to appear. Some of the more recent pop groups are Dire Straits, Eurhythmics and Spice Girls. Many of the new bands have been able to use the changes in technology to develop their music. Computerized drum machines, synthesizers and other electronic instruments are now just as popular as the piano and electric guitars.
Tastes differ. So people’s musical interests range from pop and rock music, which are extremely popular nowadays, especially among young people, to classical music and opera.
My favourite style of music is pop music, because it is breathtaking and full of energy. When I listen to pop music it makes me remember happy times and forget the problems of everyday life. It helps me to relax when I’m tired, and entertains me when I’d like to have fun. My favourite group is Abba. It was formed in 1973 in Sweden. Abba’s cheerful tunes made them international pop stars and one of the most successful groups of the seventies. Their most famous songs (“Waterloo”, “Money, Money, Money”, “Knowing Me, Knowing You”, etc.) often topped European charts. Though the group doesn’t exist any more, it is still popular with people of all ages. I can’t but admire their style of singing. I find it fascinating and overwhelming. When I have free time I listen to their records. I also like having background music while I am working.
I don’t mind listening to dance music, especially when I go to disco clubs. This style of music is catchy and I like catchy tunes. It makes me more energetic.
It’s a pity that many young people like to listen only to modern music. As for me, I also enjoy listening to classical music. I find it tuneful and appealing. Classical music is always a complex of emotions. It gives me delight, pleasure and a sense of happiness. Some pieces of classical music are really wonderful. Not long ago I listened to the First Piano Concerto, composed by Tchaikovsky. The power of his music captivated me. The impression was overwhelming.
The music I hate is heavy metal. I find it noisy and dreadful. When I listen to this style of music it presents to my mind pictures of dark days. Though some young people are fond of this style of music, it is not to everyone’s taste. To my mind, music too loud can destroy our ears. I am indifferent to other styles of music. For example, I don’t mind listening to jazz. Improvisation is an important part of this style, that’s why a jazz song may sound a little different each time it is played. I think that jazz is a mixture of many different kinds of music, but I consider it a bit complicated.
My mother and father approve of my tastes in music. Though they prefer to listen to classical and “bard music”, they think that, on the whole, modern music is not too bad. My parents agree that each generation has its own tastes.
It goes without saying that music plays a very important role in people’s lives. It reflects our moods and emotions. Music appeals to our hearts and transforms our feelings. It conquers our souls and enriches our minds. Besides, listening to music is the perfect way to spend free time and not to feel bored. “Music is the key to your soul.” How many times have you heard a song and you are suddenly transformed back to the place you first heard it or shared it with another person? A musical melody can trigger thoughts and memories of a favorite place, person or event.
Music is a universal language that can be shared with people everywhere. This is one of the many reasons I am passionate about sharing my God-given talent with people in different venues, including concert halls, churches, people’s homes or stages.
Music has always been a very important part of my life. At the age of 5, I was taking piano lessons, which required daily practicing and discipline. I went on to play flute in fourth grade and switched to oboe after “buzzing” an oboe reed at summer Band School in Elizabeth, N.J. My love affair with my oboe began! I taught myself to play French horn and trumpet in high school, rounding out my embouchure.
I credit my love of music to my family, starting with my grandmother, who lived with us, teaching piano out of our home, for 21 years. My mom continues to play cello, after 70 years of performing. Dad played alto saxophone, performing with a big band in Williamsburg, Va., up until relocating to Maryland last year. Both my siblings played instruments from a young age, as well.
Music joins people together in a unique and lasting way. I continue to play with musicians from the University of Delaware and with those from the Delmarva and Baltimore area. Music brought my husband and I together, when he attended a woodwind quintet concert at UD, prior to going out on our first dinner date. He continues to support me with my musical commitments, as well as our daughters, all of whom played musical instruments at the county and state levels.
The creative process is an integral part of making music. It starts from within your soul and heart. You need to be able to take black notes on a page and make them into an expressive, rich and beautiful musical creation. The musician needs to transform a written piece of music into a musical masterpiece the listener will never forget. The composition needs to not only to be communicated in the style and period of the composer, but also needs to be delivered with emotion, expression and individuality.
Music is as diverse as the composers who wrote it. As an artist, you must be able to convey and share the emotion of the music to your audience/congregation. For this transference to be successful, you must first feel the passion of the music from within yourself and then deliver it in a creative way that can relate to every person in your audience.

Some people are fond of folk music. There are numerous folk groups in our country. It is interesting to listen to their music and songs. Last week my friends and I visited a concert of folk music. This concert made a great impression on us.
Some people are fond of classical music, but young people prefer modern music: rap, rock and pop music. If you want to listen to modern music you can attend the music halls and the concerts of popular groups and singers.
I like to listen to the songs by our Russian popular singers. They are talented singers and composers, and I like to attend their concerts. My friends and I buy tickets beforehand and often take flowers for our favourite singers.
Both classical and modern music are popular in our country. My friend Mike is fond of classical music. Sometimes he spends his free time, listening to music by Wolfgang Mozart and other composers. The Fourth symphony and the Sixth symphony by Shostakovich strongly impressed him.

I like listening to music. However, I only listen to it in certain situations. For example, I always switch on my player and listen to music when I have to travel somewhere far. A lot of people turn on their record players when they do some routine work. As for me, I love listening to music when I tidy up my house. I like English and Russian songs. When I need to focus on an important task I turn on the Queen or Aerosmith. When I want to relax after a stressful day I listen to classical music. Music affects our bodies. Some music promotes loving feelings, other – hate. Susan Burghardt said that all music can be divided into 3 types. The 1st is low-energy music that makes you feel bad. The next category is high-energy music that makes you feel better and it can help to normalize heart rate. The 3d category is prayerful music that is the most healing of all. Music is being used in hospitals, and doctors have found that 20 min. of soothing music is often effective than sleeping pills.
Different people prefer different kinds of music. As for me I listen to different kinds, but most of all I prefer pop music.

Rap is a modern musical style where the singer speaks or shouts the words in time to music with a steady beat. Such groups as Public Enemy or House of Pain are leaders in this style.
Great Britain has produced more popular music stars than any other country. Over the last 30 years rock and pop music have been very popular in Britain. The Beatles, with their style of singing, eloquent and exciting, is still one of the most popular groups. British groups often set new trends in music. New styles, groups and singers continue to appear. Some of the more recent pop groups are Dire Straits, Eurhythmics and Spice Girls. Many of the new bands have been able to use the changes in technology to develop their music. Computerized drum machines, synthesizers and other electronic instruments are now just as popular as the piano and electric guitars.
Tastes differ. So people’s musical interests range from pop and rock music, which are extremely popular nowadays, especially among young people, to classical music and opera.
My favourite style of music is pop music, because it is breathtaking and full of energy. When I listen to pop music it makes me remember happy times and forget the problems of everyday life. It helps me to relax when I’m tired, and entertains me when I’d like to have fun. My favourite group is Abba. It was formed in 1973 in Sweden. Abba’s cheerful tunes made them international pop stars and one of the most successful groups of the seventies. Their most famous songs (“Waterloo”, “Money, Money, Money”, “Knowing Me, Knowing You”, etc.) often topped European charts. Though the group doesn’t exist any more, it is still popular with people of all ages. I can’t but admire their style of singing. I find it fascinating and overwhelming. When I have free time I listen to their records. I also like having background music while I am working.
I don’t mind listening to dance music, especially when I go to disco clubs. This style of music is catchy and I like catchy tunes. It makes me more energetic.
It’s a pity that many young people like to listen only to modern music. As for me, I also enjoy listening to classical music. I find it tuneful and appealing. Classical music is always a complex of emotions. It gives me delight, pleasure and a sense of happiness. Some pieces of classical music are really wonderful. Not long ago I listened to the First Piano Concerto, composed by Tchaikovsky. The power of his music captivated me. The impression was overwhelming.
The music I hate is heavy metal. I find it noisy and dreadful. When I listen to this style of music it presents to my mind pictures of dark days. Though some young people are fond of this style of music, it is not to everyone’s taste. To my mind, music too loud can destroy our ears. I am indifferent to other styles of music. For example, I don’t mind listening to jazz. Improvisation is an important part of this style, that’s why a jazz song may sound a little different each time it is played. I think that jazz is a mixture of many different kinds of music, but I consider it a bit complicated.
My mother and father approve of my tastes in music. Though they prefer to listen to classical and “bard music”, they think that, on the whole, modern music is not too bad. My parents agree that each generation has its own tastes.
It goes without saying that music plays a very important role in people’s lives. It reflects our moods and emotions. Music appeals to our hearts and transforms our feelings. It conquers our souls and enriches our minds. Besides, listening to music is the perfect way to spend free time and not to feel bored. It is a great pleasure to be able to play an instrument and I like it a lot.

And on the contrary, rock music and heavy metal arouse hatred, violence, irritation and rage. Some sounds even have a healing effect on people and can normalize heart rate and soothe them better than any pills.

But some young people think that music serves only for entertainment. They like pop music, rap, dance music and heavy metal. These musical genres help them relax and have fun. Most teenagers are not ready to listen to such serious music as symphony, opera or chamber music. To my mind, musical compositions by such outstanding composers as Mozart, Beethoven, Bach, Tchaikovsky or Shostakovich should be listened to attentively and brooded over.

Music is the key to your soul
“Music is the key to your soul.” How many times have you heard a song and you are suddenly transformed back to the place you first heard it or shared it with another person? A musical melody can trigger thoughts and memories of a favorite place, person or event.
Music is a universal language that can be shared with people everywhere. This is one of the many reasons I am passionate about sharing my God-given talent with people in different venues, including concert halls, churches, people’s homes or stages.
Music has always been a very important part of my life. At the age of 5, I was taking piano lessons, which required daily practicing and discipline. I went on to play flute in fourth grade and switched to oboe after “buzzing” an oboe reed at summer Band School in Elizabeth, N.J. My love affair with my oboe began! I taught myself to play French horn and trumpet in high school, rounding out my embouchure.
I credit my love of music to my family, starting with my grandmother, who lived with us, teaching piano out of our home, for 21 years. My mom continues to play cello, after 70 years of performing. Dad played alto saxophone, performing with a big band in Williamsburg, Va., up until relocating to Maryland last year. Both my siblings played instruments from a young age, as well.
Music joins people together in a unique and lasting way. I continue to play with musicians from the University of Delaware and with those from the Delmarva and Baltimore area. Music brought my husband and I together, when he attended a woodwind quintet concert at UD, prior to going out on our first dinner date. He continues to support me with my musical commitments, as well as our daughters, all of whom played musical instruments at the county and state levels.
The creative process is an integral part of making music. It starts from within your soul and heart. You need to be able to take black notes on a page and make them into an expressive, rich and beautiful musical creation. The musician needs to transform a written piece of music into a musical masterpiece the listener will never forget. The composition needs to not only to be communicated in the style and period of the composer, but also needs to be delivered with emotion, expression and individuality.
Music is as diverse as the composers who wrote it. As an artist, you must be able to convey and share the emotion of the music to your audience/congregation. For this transference to be successful, you must first feel the passion of the music from within yourself and then deliver it in a creative way that can relate to every person in your audience.
Music is meant to be shared. My greatest joys in life include music — from my marriage, a wedding, a funeral, a concert, a church service, a social event or the birth of a child. I plan to continue sharing my gift of music for a very long time. Let the music play on …

Some people are fond of folk music. There are numerous folk groups in our country. It is interesting to listen to their music and songs. Last week my friends and I visited a concert of folk music. This concert made a great impression on us.
Some people are fond of classical music, but young people prefer modern music: rap, rock and pop music. If you want to listen to modern music you can attend the music halls and the concerts of popular groups and singers.
I like to listen to the songs by our Russian popular singers. They are talented singers and composers, and I like to attend their concerts. My friends and I buy tickets beforehand and often take flowers for our favourite singers.
