Types of money
Perhaps, the most prevalent type of money is paper money, or banknotes. Every banknote has its own nominal value and is accepted everywhere on the territory of a certain country.
With the development of technologies plastic cards become more and more popular. They allow you to pay for things without cash. Such cards as Visa and MasterCard are even accepted abroad. This is a very convenient way of payment as money is simply transferred from one account to another by the bank.
Can Money Buy Happiness?
Money has always been a characteristic of wealth. People have always tried to earn as much money as possible. The explanation to this is quite simple. The more money a person has, the more he or she can afford to buy.
People often think that money equals happiness. However, it is not always like that. Happiness is a complicated concept which depends on things that surround the person. These things can be both material and spiritual. For example, love, health and care can’t be bought. A lot of examples prove that. Truly rich people still face serious illnesses. Others feel very lonely despite millions of people around them.

I’m among the people who consider that money is not all-powerful. Humanity, dignity, intelligence, kindness and other good qualities of a person can’t be bought for money. We’ll never be able to buy pure love, real friendship and loving and caring family. But life isn’t worth living without these things. It’s not worth living if money has become the point of it either.

I am very young now to operate a big figure of money, but I always have my pocket money.
Well I started to get my pocket money few years ago. First my parents and grandparents gave me something and I was saving. I was collecting money to buy some toys and chocolate.
When I went to school I tried to earn something in summer, walking the dogs. I started to save to buy presents for my family or some nice clothes that I like.
My parents give me some money regularly. Honestly I have nothing special to buy. Sometime I go to pizzeria or cinema with my friends, collecting money for vacation or something else.
In future I would like to go to university. I also need money for this. Of course my parents will pay, but I would like to help them as well.
In different countries teenagers have pocket money. Unfortunately not everybody can spend them smart. Sometime I read in internet, that teenagers start to buy alcohol, cigarettes and drugs. These are bad and useless things.
My mom says that I have to learn how to save money. It is not easy but I am doing my best. For example, if you have 50 rubles every months, you can spend 30-40 rubles. Rest money you save for future. My mom says, that in past my grandad have saved money so to build a house.
I am too young to start to save for house, but for my education. Anyway for any teenager pocket money today is very important. But you also have to think how to spend them and what to buy.

Мама говорит, что я должна учиться копить деньги. Это непросто, но я очень стараюсь. Например, если тебе дают 50 рублей в месяц, вы можете тратить только 30-40. Остальные деньги можно отложить. Мама говорит, что в прошлом дедушка скопил так, чтобы построить дом.

people believe that pocket money teaches teenagers to be
responsible. Others say that teenagers are too young to deal
with money and that their parents should just buy them what they
need.
Many parents wonder whether to give pocket money to their
children and how much to give. Most Moms and Dads think that
pocket money helps the child learn to handle money sensibly.
However, pocket money may become a battleground if not handled
correctly from the very start.
Personally, I think that by giving pocket money parents help
children learn to manage money while they are young. It also
helps them make choices and feel that they are important members
of the family. Even a small amount can give a child the feeling
of responsibility and independence. Parents can suggest the
child keeping a little book in their money box to record ins and
outs. This will help with their mathematics and will encourage
them to save money.
But in some families children are given what they ask for and do
not get pocket money. Some parents think that pocket money can
cause a number of problems. For example, if children have a lot
less than their friends they may feel depressed and may be
tempted to steal. On the other hand, when they have much more it
can cause envy and resentment amongst their friends. Besides, I
believe that parents should never give pocket money to their
children as compensation for not spending enough time with them
and as a reward for helping around the house.
To conclude, I think it is up to parents to decide whether to
give children pocket money or not. Anyway, parents should
explain their sons and daughters that lots of money cannot buy
love and happiness. Some people
think they can be happy only being rich, while others don’t care
too much about money. It is rather difficult to imagine our lives without money.
People consider money to be part and parcel of their everyday
lives. They buy and sell different things, receive a fee, a
pension or a subsidy, exchange currency and what not. People’s
attitude to money can be quite different: for some of them money
is the most important thing in the world, while other people
don’t care much about money.
In my opinion, the life of rich people is not only luxurious. It
is also dangerous. There are quite a lot of people who want to
deceive the rich. Millionaires have to spend much money on
security, but sometimes even such measures don’t help. Rich
people are often robbed, kidnapped and killed. Besides, they
have to work much and that is why they spend very little time
with their families and they often feel stressed.
But in spite of all dangers and difficulties, many people are
sure that money and happiness are synonyms. They believe that
money can make them powerful and independent. They dream of
expensive cars and luxurious mansions. Some people think that we
live in the world where almost everything can be bought and
sold. They even make friends and marry for money. To my mind,
money becomes a kind of addiction for such people.
To sum up, money is very useful as a medium of exchange, a unit
of account and a store of value. But it becomes “the root of all
evil” when it makes people take bribes, betray their partners or
commit crimes. I think that “money is a good servant but a bad
master.” A lot of
people say that it is very important for everybody to own
property. However, others are not so sure that property can make
our lives better. Everyone has some possessions. People own cars, buildings,
land, money, bonds, stocks and so on. We are used to consuming,
selling, renting, mortgaging, transferring or exchanging our
property. But sometimes people attach too much importance to
their possessions.
Personally, I believe that property is not the most important
thing in our lives. It may arouse other people’s envy and it is
difficult to say whether people surrounding you are your real
friends or they just like your possessions and want to make use
of them. I strongly feel that having friends, parents,
relatives, spouses and children who love and understand you is
better than possessing money, houses or securities.
However, there are people whose desire to own things
predominates over all other feelings. They often become “slaves
of property”. They usually try to make a commercial use of
everything and the main aim of their lives is accumulation of
their capital. They sometimes buy beautiful pictures and
sculptures not because they admire works of art or drive
inspiration from them, but because it is a way of investing
money. But to my mind, a person who values only property is
miserable because inanimate objects like cars, pictures or
precious stones can’t make you happy.
To conclude, I think that possessing property is not a sin, but
one should remember the proverb: “Money can’t buy happiness”. Some people
say that making money with the Internet is reality, while others
think it is a myth. The Internet is not only a source of information and
entertainment for many people. It can also help them make money
from home. At the same time the Internet business may be hard to
break into.
To my mind, the Internet gives people a great number of
opportunities to make money. Some of them earn money building
websites for different companies, organizations or businessmen.
Many people use websites to sell different goods or services.
Thanks to the Internet, e-learning industry which is estimated
to be worth billions of dollars has developed. People also earn
money by sending spam, creating computer viruses, putting
advertisements on a web page and so on.
However, those who believe that the Internet can help them make
millions in a few days may be disappointed. Even hard work does
not always result in success. People usually have to invest some
money to develop their online business. What is more, there is
usually great competition on the Internet when thousands of
other people are trying to sell similar goods or services. So if
you want to succeed, you should be original in order to stand
out from the crowd.
To sum up, the Internet may motivate people to earn money. I
strongly feel that if you are not afraid of difficulties, if you
are hard-working, energetic and persistent, the Internet
business will help you become richer. Some people
say that high social status is very important for everybody.
Others are convinced that it is better to have a high income. In modern societies, a person’s social status depends on
many factors including their income, education, occupation,
inherited wealth and position, ownerships, personal skills,
abilities and efforts. Some people achieve high social status
through education, occupation, and marital status. But statuses
can also be inherited through family.
To my mind, it is difficult to say which is more important: high
social status or a high income. Sometimes an individual’s social
positions have both positive and negative influence on their
social status. For example, a teacher has a positive societal
image which increases his status but may earn little money,
which simultaneously decreases it. In contrast, a drug dealer,
may have low social position though have a high income. There
are a lot of professions that are not prestigious, but well-paid
and vice versa. Personally, I would prefer having high social
status to being rich.
Some people say that they would rather have low social status
but earn much money. They are convinced that money can make them
powerful and independent. Such people also say that we live in
the world where almost everything can be bought and sold, even
high social status. But I think that a person must be respected
only for his or her individual merits and achievements.
To sum up, both a person’s income and social status depend on
him or her and may be changed in the course of his or her life.
So if you want to be wealthy, respected and successful, you must
work hard to achieve this goal.

People say: Money makes the world go round and T totally agree. Frankly speaking, it’s impossible to imagine the life of people without usage of money because we should pay almost for everything in our world except for mother’s love, father’s guidance and friend’s support.

Owing to money each person can interpret prices, costs, profits and debts; in such a way people have an opportunity to monitor their financial situations, plan their expenses and measure their future profitability. And finally, it’s a well-known fact that money is a store of value, which means that money can be saved for future purchases. Valuables, real estate, stocks and bonds are stores of wealth as well. Certainly it’s better when money works and brings its owner a profit, it’s also possible to put money into a bank account and receive interest from it if one wants to minimize the risk.
There are two different opinions about money. One people think that wealth is the most important thing in a people’s life. Other insists that there are a lot of things which have higher importance then money. Of course everyone have their own arguments.
First of all, measure of welfare can be the meter of people’s brainpower and success. As suggested by the majority only clever and brainy people can be hired on a decent position with high salary. But from other side reach people can also be a swindlers and a cheaters who bosses other persons around and has no dignity at all.
Next, money lets us fulfill our basic needs. You can’t be happy if you have no money to satisfy your natural needs. Money as commonly gives us new possibilities. But it’s not a secret that people’s requirements have no limits: the more you have, the more you want.
And the last, poverty should restrict themselves in everything. As a result it force them feel themselves miserable, angry and jealous of others’ wealth. It is said in the Bible that «The love of money is the root of all evil». Indeed, the majority of the crimes are committed because of money.
I suppose that money is very necessary thing in our world, but it is not the first. Everyone has to understand that life is worth living because of things that can’t be bought for money..
As far as I’m concerned, I get pocket money from my parents. There are different points of view on the allowance given to children by their parents, but I’m inclined to think that
pocket money is needed, because children are reasonable enough to make correct use of this money. Dealing with money is an extremely useful skill for our future life and it gives us a sense of independence. In addition to it, every teenager needs money in case he or she wants to grab a snack or gets lost in the city or lacks some stationery. Regrettably, some children do not understand the value of money and do not appreciate their parents’ labor.
In this case I’d recommend them to take a part-time job and become a babysitter, a waiter, a
cleaner and so on. Not only does this provide teenagers with earnings, but help to gain some priceless experience.
To make my long story short, I want to quote Malcom Forbes, the rich and extravagant person who seemed to have all a human wants: «Money isn’t everything according to those who have it». So enjoy every moment of your life and appreciate the things you already have.

Some of us are obsessed by making a fortune. For the sake of money or business purposes parents deprive their children of love and care. But luxurious interior, new cars, brand-new fashionable clothes is not a substitution to real relationships.
Rolling in money, without having a person with whom one can share it, being a man of property, deprived of love, respect and appreciation, is the worst mistake ever! Just recall the destiny of Gogol’s Plyushkin. He was rich but greedy and died alone.
The next bright example is Pushkin’s Covetous Knight. A great amount of money didn’t bring happiness to him too; he died on the chest full of gold coins.
To sum up, I want to say that money is a means which gives a lot of opportunities. But it is not a value, for the sake of which one should sacrifice something. “Money often costs too much”, — said Ralph Waldo Emerson. “It is no use in sacrificing something vital, hoping to gain something excessive”, — claimed Pushkin in his “Queen of Spades”. So, do not forget about such inestimable notions as love, family, health and life itself. They stand above price; money means nothing in comparison with them.

But I personally think that this statement is not true.
It is a well-known fact that everything in life has its own price. And money is a reward for our work that allows us to enjoy good things in life. Sure, money cannot buy true friends, real love or happiness, but it can give you a sense of financial security, remove the worry of being unable to feed yourself or fear of losing your house. Moreover, money can also be used to help people who cannot help themselves, for example, people with serious health problems or victims of wars, floods or famine.
However, a lot of people believe that money spoils people’s lives. Money can easily become a person’s master if he puts material possessions above everything else. Usually making money becomes number one priority in such people’s lives. They work long hours every day and do not have time for family or friends, which often leads to loneliness and separated homes. Greed may also make people break laws and commit crimes in order to become rich.
In my view, money itself is harmless, it is nothing but the way people can exchange things. It is the love of money that can lead to evil.
To crown it all, I would like to say that despite the fact that in the pursuit of money people may feel miserable and exhausted of being unable to satisfy their greed, I am still convinced that money in the right hands can be a good servant.

In different countries teenagers have pocket money. Unfortunately not everybody can spend them smart. Sometime I read in internet, that teenagers start to buy alcohol, cigarettes and drugs. These are bad and useless things.
My mom says that I have to learn how to save money. It is not easy but I am doing my best. For example, if you have 50 rubles every months, you can spend 30-40 rubles. Rest money you save for future. My mom says, that in past my grandad have saved money so to build a house.
I am too young to start to save for house, but for my education. Anyway for any teenager pocket money today is very important. But you also have to think how to spend them and what to buy.

Personally, I think that by giving pocket money parents help

child keeping a little book in their money box to record ins and
outs. This will help with their mathematics and will encourage
them to save money.
But in some families children are given what they ask for and do
not get pocket money. Some parents think that pocket money can
cause a number of problems. For example, if children have a lot
less than their friends they may feel depressed and may be
tempted to steal. On the other hand, when they have much more it
can cause envy and resentment amongst their friends. Besides, I
believe that parents should never give pocket money to their
children as compensation for not spending enough time with them
and as a reward for helping around the house.
To conclude, I think it is up to parents to decide whether to
give children pocket money or not. Anyway, parents should
explain their sons and daughters that lots of money cannot buy
love and happiness.

To sum up, money is very useful as a medium of exchange, a unit
of account and a store of value. But it becomes “the root of all
evil” when it makes people take bribes, betray their partners or
commit crimes. I think that “money is a good servant but a bad
master.”
A lot of

property. However, others are not so sure that property can make
our lives better.
Everyone has some possessions. People own cars, buildings,
land, money, bonds, stocks and so on. We are used to consuming,
selling, renting, mortgaging, transferring or exchanging our
property. But sometimes people attach too much importance to
their possessions.
Personally, I believe that property is not the most important
thing in our lives. It may arouse other people’s envy and it is
difficult to say whether people surrounding you are your real

of them. I strongly feel that having friends, parents,
relatives, spouses and children who love and understand you is
better than possessing money, houses or securities.
However, there are people whose desire to own things
predominates over all other feelings. They often become “slaves
of property”. They usually try to make a commercial use of
everything and the main aim of their lives is accumulation of
their capital. They sometimes buy beautiful pictures and
sculptures not because they admire works of art or drive
inspiration from them, but because it is a way of investing
money. But to my mind, a person who values only property is
miserable because inanimate objects like cars, pictures or
precious stones can’t make you happy.
To conclude, I think that possessing property is not a sin, but
one should remember the proverb: “Money can’t buy happiness”.

say that making money with the Internet is reality, while others
think it is a myth.
The Internet is not only a source of information and
entertainment for many people. It can also help them make money
from home. At the same time the Internet business may be hard to
break into.
To my mind, the Internet gives people a great number of
opportunities to make money. Some of them earn money building
websites for different companies, organizations or businessmen.
Many people use websites to sell different goods or services.
Thanks to the Internet, e-learning industry which is estimated
to be worth billions of dollars has developed. People also earn
money by sending spam, creating computer viruses, putting
advertisements on a web page and so on.
However, those who believe that the Internet can help them make
millions in a few days may be disappointed. Even hard work does
not always result in success. People usually have to invest some
money to develop their online business. What is more, there is
usually great competition on the Internet when thousands of
other people are trying to sell similar goods or services. So if
you want to succeed, you should be original in order to stand
out from the crowd.
To sum up, the Internet may motivate people to earn money. I
strongly feel that if you are not afraid of difficulties, if you
are hard-working, energetic and persistent, the Internet
business will help you become richer.

say that high social status is very important for everybody.
Others are convinced that it is better to have a high income.
In modern societies, a person’s social status depends on
many factors including their income, education, occupation,
inherited wealth and position, ownerships, personal skills,
abilities and efforts. Some people achieve high social status
through education, occupation, and marital status. But statuses
can also be inherited through family.
To my mind, it is difficult to say which is more important: high
social status or a high income. Sometimes an individual’s social
positions have both positive and negative influence on their
social status. For example, a teacher has a positive societal
image which increases his status but may earn little money,
which simultaneously decreases it. In contrast, a drug dealer,
may have low social position though have a high income. There
are a lot of professions that are not prestigious, but well-paid
and vice versa. Personally, I would prefer having high social
status to being rich.
Some people say that they would rather have low social status
but earn much money. They are convinced that money can make them
powerful and independent. Such people also say that we live in
the world where almost everything can be bought and sold, even
high social status. But I think that a person must be respected
only for his or her individual merits and achievements.
To sum up, both a person’s income and social status depend on
him or her and may be changed in the course of his or her life.
So if you want to be wealthy, respected and successful, you must
work hard to achieve this goal.

People say: Money makes the world go round and T totally agree. Frankly speaking, it’s impossible to imagine the life of people without usage of money because we should pay almost for everything in our world except for mother’s love, father’s guidance and friend’s support.
In all times money were a medium of exchange. In ancient times when money didn’t exist people used barter to satisfy their need for goods they didn’t have. Later commodity money appeared, like shells, beads, salt, tobacco, animal skins, even dog’s teeth and what not. Gradually our forefathers started to use clearly marked coins, made of precious metals. It was not until about 1000 years ago that the first paper money, which we call banknotes today, was invented in China. Today cash is widely used across the world along with credit cards and electronic money. In fact, each country has its own basic unit of money called currency, whereas the U. S. dollar is quite often regarded as the international means of payment.
What for we use money now? Well, there are three main uses. At first it is a medium of exchange as in ancient times; if you want to buy something you have to pay for it a certain sum of money. In addition to it, money is also used as a unit of account as money determines cost of all goods and services. Owing to money each person can interpret prices, costs, profits and debts; in such a way people have an opportunity to monitor their financial situations, plan their expenses and measure their future profitability. And finally, it’s a well-known fact that money is a store of value, which means that money can be saved for future purchases. Valuables, real estate, stocks and bonds are stores of wealth as well. Certainly it’s better when money works and brings its owner a profit, it’s also possible to put money into a bank account and receive interest from it if one wants to minimize the risk.
There are two different opinions about money. One people think that wealth is the most important thing in a people’s life. Other insists that there are a lot of things which have higher importance then money. Of course everyone have their own arguments.
First of all, measure of welfare can be the meter of people’s brainpower and success. As suggested by the majority only clever and brainy people can be hired on a decent position with high salary. But from other side reach people can also be a swindlers and a cheaters who bosses other persons around and has no dignity at all.
Next, money lets us fulfill our basic needs. You can’t be happy if you have no money to satisfy your natural needs. Money as commonly gives us new possibilities. But it’s not a secret that people’s requirements have no limits: the more you have, the more you want.
And the last, poverty should restrict themselves in everything. As a result it force them feel themselves miserable, angry and jealous of others’ wealth. It is said in the Bible that «The love of money is the root of all evil». Indeed, the majority of the crimes are committed because of money.
I suppose that money is very necessary thing in our world, but it is not the first. Everyone has to understand that life is worth living because of things that can’t be bought for money..
As far as I’m concerned, I get pocket money from my parents. There are different points of view on the allowance given to children by their parents, but I’m inclined to think that
pocket money is needed, because children are reasonable enough to make correct use of this money. Dealing with money is an extremely useful skill for our future life and it gives us a sense of independence. In addition to it, every teenager needs money in case he or she wants to grab a snack or gets lost in the city or lacks some stationery. Regrettably, some children do not understand the value of money and do not appreciate their parents’ labor.
In this case I’d recommend them to take a part-time job and become a babysitter, a waiter, a
cleaner and so on. Not only does this provide teenagers with earnings, but help to gain some priceless experience.
To make my long story short, I want to quote Malcom Forbes, the rich and extravagant person who seemed to have all a human wants: «Money isn’t everything according to those who have it». So enjoy every moment of your life and appreciate the things you already have.

Some of us are obsessed by making a fortune. For the sake of money or business purposes parents deprive their children of love and care. But luxurious interior, new cars, brand-new fashionable clothes is not a substitution to real relationships.
Rolling in money, without having a person with whom one can share it, being a man of property, deprived of love, respect and appreciation, is the worst mistake ever! Just recall the destiny of Gogol’s Plyushkin. He was rich but greedy and died alone.
The next bright example is Pushkin’s Covetous Knight. A great amount of money didn’t bring happiness to him too; he died on the chest full of gold coins.
To sum up, I want to say that money is a means which gives a lot of opportunities. But it is not a value, for the sake of which one should sacrifice something. “Money often costs too much”, — said Ralph Waldo Emerson. “It is no use in sacrificing something vital, hoping to gain something excessive”, — claimed Pushkin in his “Queen of Spades”. So, do not forget about such inestimable notions as love, family, health and life itself. They stand above price; money means nothing in comparison with them.

It is a well-known fact that everything in life has its own price. And money is a reward for our work that allows us to enjoy good things in life. Sure, money cannot buy true friends, real love or happiness, but it can give you a sense of financial security, remove the worry of being unable to feed yourself or fear of losing your house. Moreover, money can also be used to help people who cannot help themselves, for example, people with serious health problems or victims of wars, floods or famine.
However, a lot of people believe that money spoils people’s lives. Money can easily become a person’s master if he puts material possessions above everything else. Usually making money becomes number one priority in such people’s lives. They work long hours every day and do not have time for family or friends, which often leads to loneliness and separated homes. Greed may also make people break laws and commit crimes in order to become rich.
In my view, money itself is harmless, it is nothing but the way people can exchange things. It is the love of money that can lead to evil.
To crown it all, I would like to say that despite the fact that in the pursuit of money people may feel miserable and exhausted of being unable to satisfy their greed, I am still convinced that money in the right hands can be a good servant.
