  1. I’ve read an interesting proverb today, “A good friend is like a four–leaf clover, hard to find and lucky to have.” and while I was reading it, I wondered “What is friendship in fact?” So let’s find out!
Friendship is a special kind of relationships between people. People need it because they expect help and comfort from each other. Those who have friends have less stress and live longer. Friendship is usually based on common interests and mutual understanding, true encouragement and sympathy. Usually people meet, get acquainted, communicate and as a result become friends. But, only time can show, whether the friendship is strong or not.
The most important feeling that exists between friends is trust. It never appears from nowhere, it’s a result of communication, support in difficult situations, long-lasting friendship. Respect is also very important. It means that you don’t criticize your friend’s lifestyle, you always try to understand him, discuss problems with him and explain to him your feelings and emotions. Never forget to discuss important issues with your best friend or friends, because reservations can lead into the end of friendship.
I have many good friends, but two of them are the best. Their names are Annie and Natalie. They make my life brighter and more interesting. When I’m bored, I can always call my them and ask to come over and have a party. Once a month we go to the cinema or to the theatre, we call it “trinity time”. I consider them to be a part of my family. We’ve known each other for more than 20 years. I fully trust them and I know that they would do anything for me. We are always caring and attentive to each other. I know that it’s not easy to find a real friendship. I have met lots of fake friends as well. So, now I try to appreciate the relations that I have with my true ones.
I want to finish this topic with my favorite quote, “Find a group of people who challenge and inspire you; spend a lot of time with them, and it will change your life.”

  2. Friendship is very important in our life. I have many friends at school and in my town and I can not imagine my life without them.
My best friend Vika is very interesting and communicative person. We have been friends since kidner garden and now we talk by phone regularly. Sometime we have quarrels but still I can say she is my best friend. We are little bit different but still we have many things in common.
My neighbor Kate helps me always and everywhere. If I need any support or advice I can always ask her. If I have misunderstandings with my parents or relatives, Kate knows what I need. She comes to me with a chocolate, we drink coffee and talk.
Another my important friend is my granny. I have no secret with her, because she is the only one who supports any my idea. She is 60 years old but she can give very good and useful advice.
I can talk about my friends forever. Friendship changes me a lot every day. In past I was not confident person, but my friends helped me to believe in myself.
Also I liked to stay by myself. I watched movies, read books and surf in internet and now I enjoy every single moment with my friends and people around. I like and I want to help people. I want to give advice and support if someone needs it.
Friendship is something that is important to everyone. Some people say they don’t need friends, but I don’t believe them. Everyone needs a person who can listen, support, give confidence and advice. Poor the people who don’t have and don’t want to have friends.

Topic friendship.

    Let’s talk about friendship.
Friendship is a special relationship between people. People need this relationship because they expect help and comfort from each other. Those who have friends have less stress and live longer. Friendship is usually based on common interests and mutual understanding, true encouragement and sympathy.
They say “Friendship isn’t a big thing, it’s a million little things” and I agree. To me it means that friendship isn’t always about one big gesture of help. Instead, true friendship is about millions of ongoing little actions you do day in and day out, that show how much you care about and value your friend.
They say: “A person has just one true friend”. I think it’s possible to have more than one true friend. It’s hard to find a person who will share your whole life. People can change and their interests change, that’s why we can have more than one true friend during the life.
Muhammad Ali once said: “If you haven’t learnt the meaning of friendship, you really haven’t learnt anything”. Не meant that friendship is in some aspects more important than anything that you learn at school. He meant that nothing that you know matters if you do not understand friendship.
What rolе do friends play in your life? You can have a lot of acquaintances, they come and go, but a true friend is always there when you need a shoulder to cry on. Having a good friend can usually brighten a bad day and make you smile because that is what friends are for. If you feel depressed your friend will hang out with you to amuse you, to cheer you up and have a laugh with you. A good friend will not take offence at you if you disagree with him.
I have no friends among adults apart from my parents. I think that it’s easier to make friends among your peers. My best friend is of the same age with me.
I have a wide circle of friends who are on the same wavelength. I get on well with them because I respect their differences. It is fun to be with them all, but my special friend is _________. I met him/her when I mixed with my friends once after school. We’ve become inseparable since our first meeting. I really like him/her and we get on well. He/she accepts me as I am and doesn’t try to change me.
_________ is tall (well-built, pretty, handsome, plump, good-looking, slim) in his/her teens. _____ has got an oval (round / square) face with shoulder-length (long / short) hair, greenish-blue (hazel / blue / grey / green) eyes and full lips.
_________ is very responsible and decisive. He/she is determined: once he/she decides to do something, nothing can stop him/her. On the other hand, ______ tends to be sometimes bossy and likes telling other people what to do.
________ is an active and energetic person who enjoys cycling and playing sports games. He/she has an outgoing personality and loves meeting new people. He/she is also ambitious and works very hard at school to be successful in future. He/ she is intelligent and understands difficult subjects quickly and easily. On the other hand, he/ she can be sensitive at times and gets upset when something goes wrong.
All in all, ______ is very special to me and I am always there when he / she needs me.
A real friend is always next tо you, you can always count on his support and attention. I can rely on my best friend in everything. _________ helps me to see the truth even if it hurts, he / she keeps my secrets and shares things with me. I know, I can turn to my friend in trouble and he / she will give me a hand when I can’t cope with a problem myself.
People usually become friends when they have much in common, when they have much to tell each other, when they trust each other and rely on each other. So, if you want to get acquainted with someone and understand if this person can become your friend, you may ask the following questions:
What music do you like? / What books do you read? / What TV programs do you prefer?
    What’s your hobby?
What personal qualities do you appreciate in people?
If you want to understand if people are close friends, you can ask the same questions and compare the answers. Close friends will have similar answers.
I think it’s a bit easier to make friends when you 6-10 years, because children of this age are more outgoing and sociable. But I guess making friends doesn’t really depend on how old you are. If a person is friendly, it won’t be hard for him to get to know someone.
Making friends is not easy for some people and in some situations. These situations may be different – moving to a new school, moving to a new place, bullying at school, etc. Many teenagers are nervous about starting a conversation, because possible neglecting frightens them. To ease the tension, I’d advise not to be afraid of new people and not to think that all people around you must like you. If they don’t – it’s normal. You are simply different kinds of people. Try to find a group of your kind and make friends with them.
Nowadays teenagers have many virtual friends in contact or Facebook. I can’t name those friends real ones. Friends in social networks can have much in common, but virtual friendship can’t replace real communication when you spend time together.
Nowadays people prefer to have more money than many friends. They say that a person with money can afford everything and can solve any problem. I am sure that money can’t buy you real friends. And there are really such situations when you need friends and their emotional support more than money. That’s why I prefer to have both money and real friends.

I have lots of good friends, but two of them are the best. Their names are Louisa and Cathy. I can always rely on them and share my thoughts with them. We spend lots of time together. I simply can’t imagine life without these people. They make my life brighter and more interesting. When I’m bored, I can always phone my friends and ask them to come over. Sometimes we go to the cinema, sometimes to the theatre or to the museum. For me they are a part of my family. I fully trust them and I know that they would do anything for me. For example, Louisa has once saved my life. When we were both eleven, we went to swim in the lake. While we were swimming, I had a leg cramp. Nobody noticed that I couldn’t swim to the shore, but Louisa did and she helped me to get out. Such things can happen to anyone, so we always try to be caring and attentive to each other.
I know that it’s not easy to find a real friendship. I have met lots of false friends as well. So, now I try to appreciate the relations I have with my true friends.

  7. What is friendship? Friendship is a state of human spirit.
People can’t live without friendship, they feel lonely and unhappy without it .Friendship makes wonders. I believe that everyone can be a friend, a child and an adult.
A true friend will never betray and will always help you, if you are in trouble. He never envies you. But we shouldn`t demand much from our friends, because nobody is perfect.
Real friendship is rare. Many people who have not got friends often buy cats, dogs, rabbits or hamsters. Pets are like true friends: faithful, understanding and besides they can listen to them attentively.
There are a lot of proverbs and fairy tales about friendship. I like such proverbs as “A friend in need is a friend indeed” and “A friend is never known till needed”. All amazing events and adventures in children’s stories happen only with friends. We remember books “The wizard of the Emerald town” by A.Volkov, “The nice adventures” by B.Ockudzhava, “Denis’s stories” by V.Dragynsky and stories by N.Nosov. Main characters of these books can fight with enemies and help each other in difficult situations only if they are together.

  8. What is friendship? Some people will say that it is a feeling of mutual liking between two or more people, other will add that it is a state when one person understands and supports the other one.
To my mind friendship can be compared to a tree. Its seed should find good soil and under good conditions it will grow into a tree. As the years go by the tree stands firmer and firmer on the ground. And if it is strong enough, it will survive all the storms and winds. But to help it, we should take care of it and love it.
The most important feeling that exists between friends is trust. It newer appears by itself, it’s the result of a long friendship and this feeling is very valuable. Respect and tolerance are also very important; it means that you don’t criticize your friend’s way of living, but try to understand him, discuss problems with him and explain to him what you think is good and what is bad. A friend is a person who can help you in time, lend you any sum of money for a long period of time without any percent, whom you can wake up in the middle of the night just to say you feel worried or who is eager to do everything for you waiting nothing in return, who supports you in all your beginnings and who will never betray you.
Lucky are those people who have friends. I’m happy to have lots of friends, too. Some of them are very close, some are less. But all of them make my life interesting and enjoyable.
I appreciate friendship. It makes happiness grow brighter and grief less painful, because we have friends to share it with. When we doubt our ability to fulfill our aspiration or to reach our secret goal it is our best friend who gives us a spark of assurance. And we trust our friends and we are grateful to them. Friendship is a bridge between loneliness and fellowship, frustration and confidence, despair and hope, setbacks and success. That’s why a true friend is a priceless gift. They are rich who have true friends, says a proverb and I agree.

  9. The role of friendship in our life

    What is the basis
of true friendship? It is confidence, common interests, support
and mutual understanding. Friendship plays an important role in
the modern world. During our lives, we meet lots of people but
not all of them become our friends. Some people have only one
lifelong friend. There is also an opinion that friends like
books should be few but well chosen.
    Personally, I
think that life without friends is like the sky without the sun.
As far as I am concerned, I have a small circle of good friends.
They are always on my side and make my life complete. I share
all my joys and sorrows with them. We have much in common and
always have something to talk about. Besides, my friends are
battle tested and proven worthy. As it is known, hard times will
always reveal true friends. This is absolutely right. I am sure
my friends will never turn their back on me when I most need
them. Moreover, my friends never envy my success. I can always
be myself with them as if they are my family.
    A Jewish proverb
says, “A friend to all is a friend to no one.” I completely
disagree with it. As we grow older, lots of people come into our
lives. We find friends at school, at university, at work and so
forth. For instance, my best friends are my schoolmate and my
fitness coach. They are of different personality types. One of
them is easy-going, sociable and optimistic. She always cheers
me up and makes me smile. Her optimism really shines through:
she enjoys life and is always in a good mood. The other one is
thoughtful and inclined to melancholy. But she is always eager
to help or gives me a sound advice. I do love both of them. In
my opinion, friends are those you can unconditionally trust. It
does not matter how many friends you have, faith is what
    matters.
    All in all, life
is meaningless without friends. They make our life interesting
and enjoyable. As it is known, “Who finds a faithful friend,
    finds a treasure.”

I met my friend Andrew in kindergarten. Even though we were in different groups, we often played together during walks outdoors. He always shared his toys with me, and so did I. It turned out that we lived near each other. After kindergarten we went to study at the same school.
According to Aristotle, friendship is a single soul dwelling in two bodies. Indeed, a man shares his life with another person and they walk together through life side by side.
My best friend’s name is Andrew. We’ve been friends since kindergarten. He is 15 years old and we study at the same school but in different classes. Andrew has got blue eyes and blond hair. He is taller than me. He is cheerful and he is slow to take offence. Andrew doesn’t allow anyone to insult other people. We have a great deal in common, we listen almost to the same music and we regularly play table tennis after school. Andrew is a sociable, kind and modest person. Sometimes he is witty, but his jokes are never wicked. We always find interesting topics to discuss. Very often we visit each other at home. We always can help each other with homework, and we usually play computer and video games together.
I can safely say that Andrew is my best friend. He has an amazing sense of humor and he can easily make me laugh even when I have a bad day. He is as good as his word. Andrew is also good at keeping secrets. I like that he is a reliable person and he always supports me. We try to help each other. Of course we sometimes can argue or quarrel, but not for too long. We try to forgive each other.
I cannot imagine my life without Andrew. I appreciate our friendship and the fact that we are trying to help each other, and that we can talk about everything. Our friendship makes me happy.

  11. According to the dictionary friendship is a feeling and behaviour that exist between people, but what these feelings are and what this behaviour is everyone should decide for himself. I consider that friendship is a gift from the God. that’s why I highly appreciate it. I think it is hard to find a close friend because people are unique creatures of nature, all of them have their own habits, opinions and judgments which differ from others.
It makes sense to say that friendship can be compared to a tree. Its seed should find good soil and under favourable conditions it will grow into a tree. As the years go by the tree stands firmer and firmer on the ground and if it is strong enough it will survive all the storms and winds, but to help it we should take care of it and love it.
In my opinion lucky are the people who have real friends. As for me I’m happy to have lots of friends, some of them are close, some are less, but all of them make my life interesting and enjoyable and I can’t imagine my life without them, because friendship means very much for me. Being friends means making allowances for the other person’s faults, being tolerant to each other moods. The most important thing about friends for me is being able to share secrets, to tell each other your problems and share your worries, to help each other out.
As I’ve said before a real friend is the gift from the God. In my opinion an ideal friend should posses such qualities as honesty, sincerity, faith, tolerance and respect in attitude to you. A friend is a person who can help you in no time, lend you a hand, whom you can wake up in the middle of the night just to say you feel worried or who is eager to do everything for you waiting nothing in return, who supports you in all your beginnings and who will never betray you. To my mind really close and devoted friend can be not only the same sex as you. It doesn’t matter your best friend is a girl or a boy. I think that her or his soul, character and attitude to you are considerably more important. I disagree with people who say that boys are better friends than girls. Such people think that a boy-friend can never spread false stories about you or tell your secrets to the entire world, but to my mind it depends on his moral qualities. I knew one boy who began to spread stories about me, saying I was dishonest, unreliable and impudent, when we broke our relations, but I still actually believe in friendship between fellows and girls, that’s why I have equal amount of boys and girls among my close friends.
But in my opinion it isn’t an easy thing to be a true friend and before somebody can name you his best friend you should prove your friendship. To my mind everyone can have only one or two true friends, because a friend to all is a friend to none. I believe that faithful friend can brighten your life and make it more interesting, vivid and enjoyable. You are interested in your friend with all his positive and negative traits of personality and your friend in his turn can understand and forgive you everything. You shouldn’t tell a lie to your friend, there mustn’t be hypocrisy in your speech and even in thoughts. Before telling your friend something, before doing anything you should think a lot and guess what kind influence it will render on him and on his life. So I think that it is difficult to be a real friend, but to my mind all of us try to achieve the ideal of a true friend.
I’m sure you will agree that nowadays there are various ways of acquaintance. Some people make friends when they are in guests or on weddings, others prefer to find friends with the help of newspapers or the Internet. Somebody can get acquainted with his future friend when he even doesn’t expect it, for example, when he simply walks in a park or goes anywhere by public transport.
What about me I have known my best friend Natasha almost all my life, but 1 can never forget our first meeting. It was in summer when our families decided to rest in the south together. When we drove up to their house my attention was attracted by a little tidy girl in a rose dress, who was sitting to squat and playing with her long blond curl, but I can’t say that my first impressions were the same as my opinion about her now, because meeting people for the first time we always make a judgment based on their appearance though the proverb tells us not to make such a mistake. At first she seemed to me so correct, obedient and shy that I didn’t like her, but when we began to communicate closer I understood I was mistaken. I think it makes sense to say that when we returned home we were loyal friends.
Today she has changed a lot but we are still best friends and now I think Natasha is a very charming and pretty seventeen-year-old girl. She isn’t tall and I can’t even say that she is of average height but she is always smart and elegant. Natasha has an attractive face which is broaden with open and frank features. She is the owner of a blunt nose, large expressive green eyes and radiant smile that immediately makes people smile in return. Her blond hair and sort voice make her similar to a little beautiful princess from a fairy-tale.
My friend likes casual clothes. Natasha hates skirts and formal blouses, but adores tight-fitting trousers and casual T-shirts. She prefers low-heeled shoes to high-heeled, because they are more comfortable to her mind.
I believe that Natasha is a very amazing girl, because she differs from other people. When she was about twelve she became a real tomboy, she communicated only with boys except me, she liked to play rough and boys’ games and she even decided to go to the army when she would come of age. All her friends and relatives tried to dissuade her and at least she agreed, but frankly speaking. I can’t understand her desire even now, though in general we are very alike. It’s true that Natasha is a very enthusiastic and active person, you can hardly find her sitting at one place without doing anything but in spite of it she constantly has no free time. My friend is a gregarious person and an optimist; she is never bored but always smiles and laughs, that is why I like her fascinating smile very much. I should say I can never be bored it my friend keeps company for me, because she is so cheerful and joyous. She is responsible and original, I think. Such friends like she can be characterized as devoted. frank and careful, because she can never refuse if I need support or a piece of advice, she is always eager to help me and to calm me with the help of a tender word. To my mind Natasha is an intelligent, skillful and diligent girl, that’s why her success in study is brilliant. Now she studies at gymnasium number 56 in physics-mathematics class. I’d like to add that she is a great daydreamer, because she has always got her head in the clouds and she is always dreaming about something.
But like other people she isn’t an ideal. Sometimes she is too lazy and stubborn and I dislike it a bit. She is rather impatient, because she can’t wait for long. But these features of her character don’t matter much for me; I try not to pay attention to them because in general she is a wonderful person, whom I worship a lot.
Though Natasha is a busy girl and she doesn’t have much free time, she always tries to find spare time for her hobbies and interests, because she has a lot of them. Most of all she likes to play computer games and solve various problems on it. She says she can’t imagine her life without this machine. When Natasha relaxes she likes to look through different interesting magazines and newspapers but she doesn’t like to read books, especially large books like “War and Piece” by Tolstoy. Sometimes she can write poems about love. It happens rarely but I’m always the first person who reads her poems and gives an objective mark. Natasha is fond of sport but this year she has very little time for it, because she is very busy with her studying, because she enters the university this year.
And unfortunately that is the main reason why we see each other quite rarely, but we phone each other almost every day, we try to meet on our days off and that’s why we don’t feel separation from each other. Though I can’t see Natasha every day I think about her all the time.
At these rare times when we see each other we like to attend cinema or central park, but most of all we like to speak. When we meet our mouths are never close because we can speak for hours, I can discuss with my best friend such problems that I can’t discuss with my parents. We speak about fellows and our relations with them, we discuss our problems with parents and share our thoughts and dreams. It doesn’t mean that I can’t say about all these things to my mother, but I know that nobody can understand me better than Natasha. I know that only she can support me and help me in everything, because we are very alike, we think in the same way and our points of view often coincide, but in spite of it I can’t say that nothing worries me in our relationships, though also I can’t say there are some real problems or misunderstandings between us. We see each other rather rarely, because we live in different districts and she is too busy even on days off and I dislike it a lot. I consider she is a bit disorderly and she can’t plan her day off in a right way, that’s why she doesn’t manage to do everything she wants. Natasha often has troubles and problems with her parents and it is another thing that worries me. I know her parents very well and to my mind they are wonderful people, but sometimes my friend can be rude to them and as a result they quarrel, when she tells me about such quarrels I can’t take her side because I don’t approve her behaviour, that’s why I prefer to keep silence in such situations. Sometimes her flippant attitude to some things worries me very much. In my opinion she is too flippant in her attitude to preventive words of others. But I believe that all these things can’t destroy our friendship, though they influence it a bit.
And of course in some cases our points of view can differ, for example, sometimes our opinions can be different in clothes, music or films. In such situations we freely express our points of view, we can even argue but we never suppress each other. To my mind thoughts, opinions and habits of your friend can influence you a lot, but they should not destroy your own personality, they shouldn’t influence you if you don’t want it. I’m happy that both of us understand it.
I believe that friendship should be sincere and. In my opinion your friend should be attentive to you, he or she should be reliable, honest and he or she should trust you, because, I think, trust probably the most important feeling that exists between friends, but it never appears by itself, it is the result of a long friendship.
As for our friendship, I’m sure it is strong enough because we trust each other as ourselves, we always share the same joys and troubles together and we support each other at difficult times. And it goes without saying that I like Natasha with all her positive and negative features of character and admire her a lot.

  12. I consider that friendship can’t last long time. People have families, interests change. They go to other cities.
My opponents approve the return: Certainly, friendship can last long time. She is necessary to all and always. Friendship assumes communication, trust, understanding, reciprocity and sincerity and who will be able to live without it?
And how or than friendship is checked? First, distance. Secondly, time. If not to support communication, any beginning friendship can will come to an end. Thirdly, say that a friend in need is a friend indeed.
I agree with it, but not completely. Yes, the friend will sympathize, will help with a trouble, as differently: he has to, he understands that it is impossible to refuse to the person who trusts you. But I think that each person puts the interests above others. It is interesting to much to listen about misfortune of others and to show in it big interest. As soon as someone begins to tell about the progress, interest in him vanishes at once. All are able to sympathize, it can be done, nothing is absolute without putting in it. And here not everyone can be glad for the person.
In the conclusion I want to tell. Friendship – a concept especially practical: two persons communicate with each other while it is favorable or interesting to them, further a parallel disperse, or, what is much worse, are crossed.

  13. I’m not a very sociable person. To my mind, it’s not obliged for people to have a lot of friends in order to be happy. It’s enough, as I think, to have one or two friends who are able to understand you and to support you in hard situations. So, there are few people whom I can call friends. We have much in common and we enjoy communicating with each other.
One of my friends is Natalie. She is eighteen. I can say that she is beautiful and smart girl. She left school 2 years ago and now she is a second year student of the University. Natalie wants to be a journalist. She studies well because she is greatly interested in her future profession. Natalie is a hardworking girl too. I admire this feature of her character because I don’t have it.
Natalie does not have much free time but if she has, she likes to spend it in a good company, consisting of her school friends. When we gather together we like to listen to music, both classical and modern one, to watch new films and discuss them. I enjoy talking to her a lot because she knows many interesting facts about famous people, history. Her favorite subject at school were history and literature. She is fond of reading. Books have become part and parcel of her life.
We trust each other so much that we have some personal secrets which are not revealed to the others. I can tell her about my troubles and I am sure that Natalie would help me and give me a piece of good advice.
Natalie is an intelligent person. She has a deep and genuine interest in people. I’m happy to have such a good friend as Natalie.

I have a lot of friends. Most of them are classmates. My best friend called Andrey. He is fourteen. He lives with his parents not far from the school.
Andrey has a lot of hobbies: he likes to play the computer, to read detective stories, to collect butterflies. He likes animals, espesially cats. He has got a cat Lastik at home. Andrey has short, light hair and grey eyes. He is quite short and rather thin. He always manages to be cheerful, energetic, full of life and energy. He is helpful and honest. Andrey is very popular. Hе is a helpful person and every time he tries to do her best to help somebody when he has problems. Andrey is very attentive to his parents. Of course, he has some drawbacks – sometimes she is a hurly-burly boy, a bit stubborn. But still like him as she has a good sense of humour and pleasant to deal with. We spend much time together – watch video or listen to the music, walk or go to the cafe discussing all sorts of things. Our friendship helps me feel strong and sure of myself.

Friendship is very important in our life. Let me explain you why I think so. Everybody needs someone who is close to your heart and way of thinking. Your parents will always love you anyway because they are parents. And your friend just likes you; he wants to spend his time with you and he is willing to help you when you need it. My best friend’s name is Stepan. He is not my schoolmate. Stepan lives next to me and our parents are good friends. We first met on my mom’s birthday party three years ago. Since then we see each other almost every day. Stepan is one year older. He is fond of tennis very much. He plays tennis since childhood and he even won some tournaments. Maybe once he will become a professional player. Stepan is very clever, honest and friendly. He likes to read books and watch films, that’s why it’s always interesting to talk to him. We usually discuss our favorite characters and most exciting actions. Also we both like to ride the bicycle and to listen to music so we are never bored together. I think it’s very important to have common hobbies with a friend. I’m sure that we both are willing to help each other in need. Stepan usually explains me mathematics when I don’t understand something. He visits me when I’m ill. He never envies me. I know that I can trust my best friend. As for me, I also try to do my best to be a good friend for him too. I’m happy to have such a good friend.

People cannot live without friends. Real friendship is possible only when people respect and trust each other, when they have the same interests, when they do something useful together. They say «A friend in need is a friend indeed». True friends are always ready to help each other when you are in a difficult situation. Friends make our life happier and more interesting. It is difficult to find a true friend. If you do something wrong you may lose a friend, that’s why always think how to keep friendship. If you want to have a friend, you have to be a good friend yourself. I have a lot of friends. But my bosom friend is Diana. She isn’t very tall, she’s fair, slim and pretty. I like Diana because she is well- bred, clever, honest, true, jolly and kind and generous. She did well at school. She is fond of reading. My friend has a lot of books. She goes in for sport. She plays the piano. She has a rich imagination and her own style. I respect and trust her. We have the same interests. We never envy each other. I do my best to keep my friendship and not to quarrel. We usually debate important events. Now we are going to enter the University. We read a lot together, learn, write compositions. We attend special courses for school- leavers. We help each other to become students in the nearest future. We are faithful friends.

My best friends name’s Misha. We made friends a few years ago. We are of the same age. We live in the same block of flats, so we see each other almost every day. Misha is a tall slender boy. He has got dark hair, large dark eyes, a straight nose, and thin lips. He wears spectacles. Misha is a nice guy. He is very honest and just, understanding and kind. I trust him a lot, and I’m sure that I can rely on him in any situation. He never lets people down. Misha is only 16 but he is very responsible — he finishes whatever he starts. He’s got only one shortcoming. He is a bit stubborn; nevertheless he is pleasant to deal with. Misha’s an only child and his parents love him very much. His father is a lawyer. He is the most brilliant man I’ve ever met. He knows everything there is to know about the law. His mother is a music teacher. No wonder Michael is so talented. He’s got a very good ear for music. He likes jazz and plays the piano very well. We spend a lot of time together. We often watch video or listen to music. Sometimes we go to theatre, or walk around the centre of the city, visiting small cafes, museums, art galleries, and shops. We talk for hours about all sorts of things (politics, love, teachers, and girls). We discuss films, television programmes, books. I never quarrel with Misha. But if there is some misunderstanding between us we try to make peace as soon as possible. What I like best about him is that he is always willing to help and share his knowledge, thoughts, and feelings. I respect him for his fairness, strong will, intellect, and modesty. I miss Misha when we don’t see each other for a long time. Without him I would feel lonely and uncomfortable. Our friendship helps me feel strong and sure of myself.

I have many friends. I like my friends. When we gather, we play computer games, chat, make lots of noise. I like noise. To my mind, people should have many friends as possible, because if you have not friends, you just become very dull and boring person. It is fine when you have friends, who are able to understand you and support and help in difficult situations. We have much in common and we enjoy communicating with each other. One of my friends is Sergey. He is thirteen. I can say that he is a good guy. He is a schoolboy. He wants to be a businessman like his father. He studies well, but he is not a hardworking person. When we gather together we like to play computer games, to watch new movies and discuss them. His favourite subject at school is Maths. He is keen on Maths. I guess he might become a great mathematician, but he wants to be like his father. We are friends for a long time. We trust each other. We have some personal secrets. I can tell him about my troubles and he always helps me, if he can. I’m happy to have such a good friend as Sergey.

Friendship is very important in everyone’s life. And it’s really true. In my opinion if you don’t have friends you are so lonely and miserable. Who will support you in difficult situations, help in doing homework and go for a walk in a rainy day? For sure, your best friend! A real friend accepts you as such, even if your character is terrible. As for me, my character is not ideal and my mood is often changeable. But my best friends don’t pay attention on this.  So let me introduce my best friends to you. They are Kate and Dima. Kate is my classmate. She is 12 years old. I think Kate is a very creative and talented girl. She draws wonderfully. And she presented me some of her paintings. We have much in common with my best friend Kate: we are both fond of doing sports, reading romantic stories and dancing. We like the same music as well. When we are together we are not bored. My best friend Dima is 1 year older than me. He lives next door, so we spend a lot of time together. Dima likes playing football. Sometimes I attend competitions in which he takes part. And I can say that he is not only my best friend, he is the best footballer. I am proud of him. My best friends are my helpmeet. I believe that our frienship will never end.

  14. “The rain may be falling hard outside,
But your smile makes it all alright.
I’m so glad that you are my friend.
I know our friendship will never end.”
    ~Robert Alan
It’s autumn again… Those who have ever been to small Russian towns like ours will understand me. “…again…” means that each autumn is similar to the previous one. I call this time “the velvet season”. It’s a kind of irony, of course. The end of November is especially dull. Autumn meets winter these days. You can hardly see a sunbeam in the sky. There is slush everywhere. Famous Russian writers Ilf and Petrov compared Russian slush with coal. Sullen inhabitants are in a hurry. “Good morning, – “Morning”. We have breakfast, waiting for a bus. We are already in the office! The scheme is so simple and uninteresting. Why does it happen this way? Moreover, is it really so?
My own personal feeling is that it’s not the material things that matter. In my opinion, people who are sad and sullen have no friends! Walking in the mud, along the broken-down pavements, suddenly you see your friends` windows. The lights are so bright and kind there. The older we become, the more we appreciate those people who can share our happiness or sadness. They respect our individuality no matter what’s your profession or salary. They are your friends. “A true friend is someone who thinks that you are a good egg even though he knows that you are slightly cracked.”(Bernard Meltzer). Real friends are so rare in our life. Some people say thatfriendship is one of the most important things, which give the purport of life.
However, we can’t tell everything even to our mothers, but our close friends are good at listening. They say that the woman’s friendship doesn’t exist. I can not accept this argument. Undoubtedly, most women are ready to sacrifice their friendly relations for the family. It’s our genetic feature. Well-educated and sensible persons will always appreciate real friendship. It’s important to understand that everything in this world including human relations develops constantly, going through the best and the worst stages.
It is a well-known fact that the reappraisal of values comes in different periods of our life. Probably, graduation is one of the crucial moments of our life. It is the period when we face real problems, lose old relationships. In other words, time shows who our real friends are.
Sometimes we differ greatly from our friends but even the famous scientists mentioned the unity of opposites! One example of this: one day, the unknown passerby walked along the street. It was raining. He was tired but did not feel it at all. This man was a salesperson. During the day he couldn’t wait until the closing time. He hadn’t seen his friends for two months! So all his friends – one lawyer, two accountants, and a teacher gathered in a quiet cafe`. These people were different, they had different occupations, but they had been friends for 15 years! They could speak about everything: family problems, the birth of their children, their new hobbies, job achievements. So, why was our salesperson in a hurry? He had found another job! Swedish proverb says: “Friendship doubles our joy and divides our grief”. That’s why the weather and insignificant problems were of no importance any more. He had got real friends and was able to overcome all difficulties.
In conclusion, I`d like to say that our life is like a coloring book. We choose colors ourselves and our friends help us to select the brightest and the most positive ones.

  15. What is the friendship? I suppose it’s a quite complicated term. Friendship is not only the number of people who you communicate with every day but it’s a deep feeling of support and understanding that you receive from them. Furthermore, you can’t make friends in one day. Friendship comes with the years you have spent together, experiences you’ve had together and the troubles you’ve got into and sorted out together.
I’m absolutely convinced that nobody can have a lot of friends. People can have a lot of classmates, colleagues or acquaintances but not friends. As for me I just have two people in my life that I can call real close friends. Their names are Kate and Ann and they are of the same age as me. We have known each other for ages and I can say we have been friends as long as I remember myself. All of us really have a lot in common. We are keen on the same music, the same clothes and we are even in love with the same boys.
In spite of that, we also have quarrels as all other friends. We can’t agree about some trivial things from time to time. Nevertheless, we can’t be in a quarrel for a long time and finally, we understand that nothing is more important than our friendship.
We adore spending time together. It doesn’t matter what we do, listen to music, surf the internet, go shopping or have a meal in a cafe, the time together always means a plenty of fun. We all have different talents and hobbies. I’m good at dancing, Kate is a brilliant tennis player and Ann draws fantastic pictures, but we try to teach each other and we’re really interested in each other’s lives.
I have always been thinking what the secret of long and successful friendship is. Now I can surely claim that it’s trust and respect. I trust my friends and get the same from them.

    Friendship
