Doing household
chores is an essential part of our daily life. Everybody wants
to come back home after school or work and enjoy the quiet and
cozy atmosphere of home. So, cleaning the house is a
responsibility of the whole family. Our family is not an
exception. We share our household chores to help each other.
As far as I am
concerned, I have some household duties. Well, since childhood I
got used to wash the dishes after meals. However, recently, my
dad has bought a new dishwasher. So, now 1 just load or empty
it. Sometimes 1 help my mom with cooking and clear or lay the
table. As I am a good cooker, I often bake cakes or pies. We
have lots of plants at home. That’s why I regularly water them.
1 also take out the garbage and walk with my dog. Moreover, I
always make the bed and clean up my room.
My mom’s main
responsibility is cooking. She always buys only fresh and
healthy products which don’t contain any chemical activities. I
think that home-made meals are the tastiest. Besides, my mom
does the laundry and vacuums the carpet. Twice a year she does
spring and fall cleaning. She cleans the windows, arranges lots
of items in the wardrobe and paints the ceiling.
My dad is a handy
man. He is well at home repairs of all kinds. Last year he
refurbished our apartment. He hung wallpapers, installed floor
tiles and painted the walls.
There are some
chores that we do together. At weekends we always go shopping
for food or clothes. It is our family tradition. We prefer huge
shopping malls like IKEA, where we spend the whole day. We

My family is very friendly and hardworking. We like to spend time all together, to go out, visit friends and relatives and so on. We celebrate the holidays all together and never speak bad about each other.
Our family is so strong and happy, I think, because the household duties are divided between all family members.
Usually our mom is responsible for lunch and dinner for everyone. Of course we can help, but she cooks great and knows many recipes. My mom works, but in our fridge there is always meal. After meal me and my brother are responsible to wash all the dishes. Sometime we are lazy or busy with homework, then our mom can do everything.
Our dad is in charge for breakfast. He cooks fantastic pancakes and sandwiches for the whole family. He is an early bird and every morning he prepares breakfast for all of us. Also we have two dogs and a cat and my dad feeds them every day.
I clean the house with my mom on Saturday. But during the week I have to clean the dust, water the flowers and vacuum the floor.
My brother and dad take care about the garden.
That’s it. Sometime we fight for our duties because we don’t have time or wish to do many things. But we respect and love each other. We want to make our home more beautiful and comfortable. My parents have already done a great job. They grew us up hospitable and hardworking.
Sometime we can change our duties or have something extra. Often we like to do everything together. We cheer up each other, say some jokes. Thus family spirit becomes stronger.
I hope in future I will have the same relationships in my family. I have a great model of the best parents in the world and I see how much they respect each other and us as well.

Вот и все. Порой мы ругаемся из-да наших обязанностей. Бывает, что нету времени или просто не хотим этим заниматься. Но мы уважаем и любим друг друга. Мы хотим, чтобы наш дом был красивее и уютнее. Родители уже провели огромную работу. Они вырастили нас добрыми и трудолюбивыми.

My Household Duties (1)
This is my last
year at school, and I work hard to pass my final exams
successfully. As I am very busy, I can’t help my parents much in
keeping the house.
But still I have
some household duties. Every day I do
my room and my bed, wash up dishes,
dust the furniture and usually go to the baker’s after I have
dinner.
I buy some brown
and white bread, biscuits and cakes there. The shop is not far
from our house and it doesn’t take me long to do everyday
shopping.
Once a v/eek I
help my mother to do all other work about the house. We wash our
linen, iron and mend it, clean the flat. We beat the dust out of
the carpets, vacuum the floors and polish them. It’s not
difficult to keep the flat tidy if you do your rooms regularly.
This is my usual round of duties. But sometimes I have some
other things to do.
When my mother is
ill or away from home, I do the cooking and the washing up, the
buying of food and the planning of meals. I am not a good cook,
but my vegetable soup is always tasty. I can also boil an egg or
fry some meat. I also lay the table and clear away the dishes.
If I’m too busy or can’t do these things, all the duties are
organized among other members of our family.
Sometimes I have
to visit everyday services: hairdresser’s, shoemaker’s,
tailor’s, dry-cleaner’s, photographer’s. At the hairdresser’s I
have my hair cut and waved. At the shoemaker’s I have my shoes
and boots repaired, at the photographer’s I have my photos
taken. Service is generally good, but in some cases it leaves
much to be desired.
My brother has
his own duties at home. He helps to fix and repair some things.
For example, he repairs electrical appliances when they are out
of order. He has already repaired our mother’s electric iron, my
desk lamp and his own shaver.
Last year I was
at my grandparents. They are elderly people and need care and
attention. During my stay there, I swept the floors and washed
them, fed the chickens, collected the eggs and weeded the
vegetable-beds. I don’t know how to milk the cow but I helped to
feed the other animals: lambs, sheep and pigs. I enjoyed this

Members of my family
My family is quite large. It consists of five members: my mother, my father, my grandmother, my younger sister and me. I suppose it’s fair that everyone in the family has their own duties.
My mother
My mother usually goes shopping because she is the only one who knows best which products we need. She buys bread, milk and vegetables every day and if there is too much to bring from the supermarket, my sister goes with her to help her with carrying the bags. After that my mom prepares dinner and supper. We all like her cooking. She is especially good at cooking meat with vegetables.
My chore
My chore is to do the washing up after we have finished with our meal. I also have to dust the furniture and to sweep the floor in my room every day. My sister’s duties are to carry out the garbage and put her things in their right place.
My grandmother
My grandmother hasn’t got many duties. She meets my sister from school every evening. Besides, she knits socks for everybody and makes tasty cakes and pies and cooks jam out of strawberries, blueberries and raspberries.
My father
My father usually works long hours and he is very tired at the end of the day. Therefore, his only duty on weekdays is to walk our dog.
Weekends
On Saturday, all the family are busy with their chores as we make our flat neat. My father cleans the carpet with a vacuum-cleaner. My mother washes linen in a washing machine. I wash the floors and clean the dust as usually. My grandma cooks Saturday dinner. After all, we all lay the table and have dinner all together. For dessert we have tea with a delicious cake made by my granny. Then we spend some time discussing different problems and events of the week. Finally, we enjoy the rest of the day doing things we like.

The most effective way for me to get my household chores completed is to schedule or list them. This is probably the best way for the kids to get their household chores done also.
About the house
As far as I remember I’ve always had something to do about the house. My mom was very wise about that. Once she had decided what she wanted her children to do as household chores, she drawn up a chore schedule for my brother and me. She made it as a table with days of the week going across the top and the chores listed down the page. It was a simple list hanging on our refrigerator by a magnet. When we were little our responsibility was to wipe lower kitchen cabinets and dust low bookshelves. I think it was a very good idea. As I grew older I started doing the dishes after dinner and picked up the dinner mess. I also had to mop floors and vacuum. My brother has always been rather opposed to housework, so he just kept his room tidy, making the bed and putting his things away.
Responsibilities
We’ve recently moved to a bigger house, so we’ve got lots of things to do. With me now responsible for doing most of the cleaning, my younger brother has a responsibility of mowing the lawn, taking out the rubbish, pruning the trees and cleaning up the yard. He says he likes doing yard work. He’s a sportsman, so he enjoys everything physical. He can occasionally do the laundry, which my mom usually does, but he hates doing the cleaning. As for the parents, they both work full time, so it’s difficult for them to manage it. My mom still does most of the cooking, washes the windows in the house and cleans the carpets and my dad is responsible for doing repairs which is often needed when you live in a house rather than in a flat.
Conclusion
I believe chores are really life lessons for children, so I’m deeply thankful to my mom for such homemaking school.

My family is very friendly and hardworking. We like to spend time all together, to go out, visit friends and relatives and so on. We celebrate the holidays all together and never speak bad about each other.

The most effective way for me to get my household chores completed is to schedule or list them. This is probably the best way for the kids to get their household chores done also.
About the house
As far as I remember I’ve always had something to do about the house. My mom was very wise about that. Once she had decided what she wanted her children to do as household chores, she drawn up a chore schedule for my brother and me. She made it as a table with days of the week going across the top and the chores listed down the page. It was a simple list hanging on our refrigerator by a magnet. When we were little our responsibility was to wipe lower kitchen cabinets and dust low bookshelves. I think it was a very good idea. As I grew older I started doing the dishes after dinner and picked up the dinner mess. I also had to mop floors and vacuum. My brother has always been rather opposed to housework, so he just kept his room tidy, making the bed and putting his things away.
Responsibilities
We’ve recently moved to a bigger house, so we’ve got lots of things to do. With me now responsible for doing most of the cleaning, my younger brother has a responsibility of mowing the lawn, taking out the rubbish, pruning the trees and cleaning up the yard. He says he likes doing yard work. He’s a sportsman, so he enjoys everything physical. He can occasionally do the laundry, which my mom usually does, but he hates doing the cleaning. As for the parents, they both work full time, so it’s difficult for them to manage it. My mom still does most of the cooking, washes the windows in the house and cleans the carpets and my dad is responsible for doing repairs which is often needed when you live in a house rather than in a flat.
Conclusion
I believe chores are really life lessons for children, so I’m deeply thankful to my mom for such homemaking school.

from home, I do the cooking and the washing up, the buying of food and the
planning of meals. I am not a good cook, but my vegetable soup is always tasty.
I can also boil an egg or fry some meat. I also lay the table and clear away the
dishes. If I’m too busy or can’t do these things, all the duties are organized
among other members of our family.
Sometimes I have to visit
everyday services: hairdresser’s, shoemaker’s, tailor’s, dry-cleaner’s,
photographer’s. At the hairdresser’s I have my hair cut and waved. At the
shoemaker’s I have my shoes and boots repaired, at the photographer’s I have my
photos taken. Service is generally good, but in some cases it leaves much to be
desired.
My brother has his own duties at
home. He helps to fix and repair some things. For example, he repairs electrical
appliances when they are out of order. He has already repaired our mother’s
electric iron, my desk lamp and his own shaver.
Last year I was at my
grandparents. They are elderly people and need care and attention. During my
stay there, I swept the floors and washed them, fed the chickens, collected the
eggs and weeded the vegetable-beds. I don’t know how to milk the cow but I
helped to feed the other animals: lambs, sheep and pigs. I enjoyed this work
very much.

ковры от пыли, пылесосим пол и полируем его. Не трудно содержать квартиру в
порядке, если ты убираешь систематически. Это обычный круг моих обязанностей. Но
иногда мне надо делать другую работу.
Когда мама больна или ее нет дома, я готовлю еду и
мою посуду, покупаю продукты и составляю меню. Я не очень хорошо готовлю, но мой
овощной суп всегда вкусный. Я могу также сварить яйцо и пожарить немного мяса,

и ботинки, в фотоателье я фотографируюсь. Обслуживание в общем хорошее, но в
некоторых случаях оно оставляет желать лучшего.
У моего брата свои обязанности по дому. Он помогает
установить или починить некоторые вещи, например, он чинит электроприборы, когда
они в неисправности. Он уже починил мамин утюг, мою настольную лампу и свою
бритву.
В прошлом году я была у бабушки и дедушки. Они
пожилые люди и нуждаются в заботе и внимании. Во время своего пребывания там я
подметала и мыла полы, кормила цыплят, собирала яйца, пропалывала грядки. Я не
знаю, как доить корову, но я помогала кормить других животных: ягнят, овец,

I live with my mother and father. I like to help them. Every Sunday I clean my room. I take the vacuum — cleaner and clean the carpets. I sweep the floor, dust the sofa and the chairs, I try to dust the furniture in a proper way.

The cutlery is kept in a drawer in the sideboard. The wine-glasses are kept on shelves in the sideboard. I take out of the drawer in the sideboard all the cutlery — a fish-knife and fork for the fish, a large knife and fork for the meat, a small knife for the butter and fruit-knife for the dessert. Then there is a pudding-spoon and a fork for the sweet, and a soup-spoon for the soup.
I put the knives and the soup-spoon on the right-hand side and the forks on the left, except the pudding-spoon and fork which I put across the top. Then I put the serving — spoons and forks, the carving-knife and fork, the bread-board and a knife to cut the bread.
On the left of each guest I put a small plate for bread and on his right a wine-glass if we are having wine. And I am ready for the guests to come.

Столовые приборы хранятся в ящике серванта. Я достаю из ящика серванта все столовые приборы — нож и вилку для рыбы, большой нож и вилку для мяса, маленький нож для масла и нож для десерта. Затем ложку и вилку для сладкого и суповую ложку.
Я кладу ножи и ложки для супа справа, а вилки слева, кроме ложки и вилки для сладкого, которые я кладу выше. Потом я достаю вспомогательные вилки и ложки, нож для разделки мяса и вилку, дощечку и нож, чтобы нарезать хлеб.
