I live and study in Kazan city, the capital of the Republic of Tatarstan. It’s my native city as I was born here. Kazan is located on the left bank of the Volga river and it was founded more than one thousand years ago. So it is a very old place, with rich and fascinating history. The population of my city is multinational and enormous: about one and a half million people. Kazan has changed greatly from the moment when I was born and it has grown much bigger, but still it keeps its own traditions and some strict religious rules. The people of my city are friendly and hospitable, polite and intelligent to my mind.
The capital of Tatarstan is a city of contrasts: there are quarters of modern high-rise buildings and districts with old historical places; some districts are awfully noisy and crowded, with long traffic jams, the others are very clean and quiet. Our transport system is really busy: we have a railway station, a big river port, an airport, buses, trolleybuses, trams and trains of the Kazan metro which was opened in 2005.
There are plenty of impressive sights for our guests in the historical centre of the city: the Kremlin of the 10th century, the Millenium bridge, the Kul-Sharif mosque and other beautiful cathedrals and mosques. Kazan has unique museums, able to suit any taste: the Fine Arts museum, the museum of Leo Tolstoy, the National museum of Tatarstan, the museum of Zoology.
My native city is a recognized sports capital of Russia. It has hosted many important sports events. The International Summer Universiade of 2013 was among them. And in 2018 our city is going to host the FIFA World Cup.
I feel proud of my birthplace and I am sure that Kazan is the place which is worth visiting at least once in our life. I know that many tourists from abroad come here and they feel enraptured with the local sights.

Novorossiysk is situated in the geographical point where three typys of environment meet: sea, mountains and steppes. During the Great PAtriotic War Novorossiysk became the arena of very severe combats. Due to courage and firmness of soviet warriors the enemy, who was heading for the Caucuses, was stopped here by the walls of the city in September of 1942. Small land is a bridgehead with the area of 27 square kilometers. For 225 days and nights there were fierce fights here. The Germans sent to divisions and lots of tanks against the marines. The enemy’s artyllery and frontline aveation rained down bombs and shells on the position of the marines. This unequal fight lasted for three days and nights, but the marines were able to hold the bridgehead until the landing of the main forces of the 18th landing army under the command of lieutenant general Leselidze K. N. There are lots of monuments in Novorossiysk. On the square of Freedom, in the centre of the city, the sculptural group of city defenders (a soldier, an infantryman and a girl – partisan) stiffened in their rushing forward movement. Above them proudly flutters the standard of victory. And on the seafront on the rising concrete wave stands a torpedo launch, the symbol of fast warships that assaulted the city in 1943. A bit further you can see the bronze figure of the Unknown Sailor. The bright pages of the city history, immortallized in stone and bronze, names of streets and squares, are connected with the revolutionary, war and labour traditions. I love my city very much!

My name is Anna and I’m 16 years old. I live in Rostov-on-Don, which is a large city in the south region of Russia. My family is not big. It’s just me, my parents and my grandpa.
The school, which I attend, is situated in a walking distance from us. My teacher, Alissa Ivanovna, often organizes school trips to other cities. Last year, we went to Saint-Petersburg for three days. It was during the holidays in May. Since then, I fell in love with this city. I’ve realized that it’s the most beautiful place I’ve ever seen.
I know that there are many other nice cities in our country and abroad, but none as charming as Saint-Petersburg. Perhaps, the first thing that I noticed, when we arrived, was the unique architecture. The second eye-catching thing is the abundance of bridges across the river Neva. I can hardly distinguish which building or bridge was the best, as they are all magnificent. The Winter Palace was undoubtedly one of the most beautiful structures. I also liked the Nikolaevskiy Palace and the Savior on the Spilled Blood Cathedral.
I regret that we had so little time to see all the sights, but we managed to visit Peterhof, which reminded me a kingdom of fountains, and Tsarskoe Selo. Peterhof was built on the orders of Peter the Great – the remarkable person, who ruled the country in the 17th and 18th centuries. Saint-Petersburg was even named after him and all the glorious architecture, which can now be seen in the city, is his merit. During his reign, best European masters were invited to erect the palaces, cathedrals, mansions, bridges and noble monuments. Unfortunately, we didn’t see the famous White Nights of Saint Petersburg, as they take place in June. But that’s a good reason to visit my favourite city one more time.

I have many favourite places in my town: the Volga Bay, parks and cinemas.
You can see many people and children on the Volga Bay. There are many exciting coloured fountains here. In summer you can boat and in winter you can skate.
We have a lot of parks. Each park is very nice and cozy, where children and their parents gather for the merry and bright holidays, musical fairy tales, theatrical performances. Cheboksary is situated on both banks of the Volga, and is one of the most beautiful green cities in Russia. The main advantage of the Chuvash Republic is good location on the Volga River, which flows through the picturesque and green places. Volga and Sursko beaches, attractive natural landscape are attractive moments for tourism development.
The town also has a cinema. I love to go and watch movies with friends and parents.
We have a lot of monuments. Cheboksary is the cultural center of the republic and has more than 100 monuments, including prominent figures of culture and art.

Everyone has a city which he adores and loves with all his heart. For some people it can be their hometown and for others it can be some other city, which, for example, they have dreamt of visiting for years. As for me, my favorite city is Moscow and below you can see the reasons why.
First of all, it should be mentioned, that I am not a Muscovite. I was born in Izhevsk, but when I was a little child, my parents used to bring me to Moscow and gradually I fell in love with it. I remember that when our train arrived at the Moscow station, I was very excited and my mood all at once became great. I was always looking forward to my summer holidaysas only then we could go to Moscow.
Almost two years ago I arrived in Moscow to study at the university. Finally, my dream came true and I could enjoy all the sights this magnificent city had.
In my opinion, in Moscow you have every opportunity to live your life brightly and fully. Not only can you see lots of mesmerizing sights and views here, but also you have got lots of career possibilities. Most of perspective companies, including international ones, have their offices in this city and to get your dream job you just need to be active, ambitious and sociable. All the opportunities lay in front of you and you just need to have a go and grab them.
For those, who love art, music and movie industry, Moscow has also lots of amusing things to suggest. Every year a certain amount of famous exhibitions from different countries is held in this city, you will also be able to see the performances of famous artists and musicians, who arrive in Moscow as a part of their world tour, and, of course, you will have the opportunity to see world-famous actors, who come in Russia to present their new films and projects.
Moscow is a very beautiful city. Here you can find both ancient and modern architecture. In the centre of the city there are mostly quite old but beautiful buildings and, of course, here you can also find the heart of Moscow and Russia – the Kremlin and the Red Square. This is quite an exceptional place in the city and I think that there’s no one who does not like it. Being there, you can admire the unforgettable architectural style it is built in and you have an incredible feeling of belonging to Russia.
A little bit further from the city centre, just outside the Garden Ring, you can see one of the most famous modern building complexes – Moscow International Business Center with its impressive and shiny skyscrapers. Though this district is not completely built, there you can already see lots of offices and some entertainment features (for example, a big shopping center with cinema complex).
In this city there are also lots of places for family walks, including parks, alleys and natural reserves and among them I have my favorite ones. These are Gorky Central Park, Park Pobedy, the Arbat (both new and old) and quiet boulevards of the Boulevard Ring. There you can spend your free time with your friends or family or meet lots of new interesting people.
Living in Moscow, I feel like I can achieve anything I want if I just put in some efforts. I believe that Moscow is one of the best cities to live in as it has both beautiful sights and the whole ocean of possibilities for those willing to take them. Not everyone will like Moscow with its constant traffic jams, large crowds of people and its fussy and noisy rhythm of life, but for me this city is just perfect and I feel like I belong here. I am extremely happy to live in such place and I hope everyone will be able to find the place where he can feel comfortable and homelike.

В этом городе также много мест для семейных прогулок, включая парки, аллеи и природные заповедники, и среди них у меня есть любимые. Это Центральный парк им. Горького, Парк победы, улица Арбат (и новый, и старый) и тихие бульвары Бульварного кольца. I live and study in Kazan city, the capital of the Republic of Tatarstan. It’s my native city as I was born here. Kazan is located on the left bank of the Volga river and it was founded more than one thousand years ago. So it is a very old place, with rich and fascinating history. The population of my city is multinational and enormous: about one and a half million people. Kazan has changed greatly from the moment when I was born and it has grown much bigger, but still it keeps its own traditions and some strict religious rules. The people of my city are friendly and hospitable, polite and intelligent to my mind.
The capital of Tatarstan is a city of contrasts: there are quarters of modern high-rise buildings and districts with old historical places; some districts are awfully noisy and crowded, with long traffic jams, the others are very clean and quiet. Our transport system is really busy: we have a railway station, a big river port, an airport, buses, trolleybuses, trams and trains of the Kazan metro which was opened in 2005.
There are plenty of impressive sights for our guests in the historical centre of the city: the Kremlin of the 10th century, the Millenium bridge, the Kul-Sharif mosque and other beautiful cathedrals and mosques. Kazan has unique museums, able to suit any taste: the Fine Arts museum, the museum of Leo Tolstoy, the National museum of Tatarstan, the museum of Zoology.
My native city is a recognized sports capital of Russia. It has hosted many important sports events. The International Summer Universiade of 2013 was among them. And in 2018 our city is going to host the FIFA World Cup.
I feel proud of my birthplace and I am sure that Kazan is the place which is worth visiting at least once in our life. I know that many tourists from abroad come here and they feel enraptured with the local sights.

Мой родной город является признанной спортивной столицей России. Он принимал гостей многих важных спортивных событий. Международная летняя Универсиада-2013 была одной из них. А в 2018 г. наш город собирается принимать участников Кубка мира FIFA.
Я горжусь местом своего рождения, и я уверен, что Казань – это место, которое стоит посетить хотя бы раз в жизни. Я знаю, что многие туристы приезжают к нам, и они приходят в восторг от местных достопримечательностей.
It was founded in 1703 by Peter the Great. One can only imagine how rich its history is. For a long time St. Petersburg was the capital of Russia. Nowadays it is the second largest city in Russia and the third largest city in Europe, with the population of more than 5 million people (2015).
St. Petersburg is an important economic, scientific and cultural centre of the country. A lot of enterprises and international companies are located here. Tourism also plays a great role in the economic development of the city. St. Petersburg is not only beloved by Russian citizens, it is the place which foreigners will never forget.
St. Petersburg is a major transport hub. The city has an extensive network of public transport with buses, trams and underground. St. Petersburg is served by Pulkovo International Airport which is located on the outskirts of the city. Apart from that there are some seaports.
Everyone knows that St. Petersburg is usually referred to as the cultural capital of Russia. It is the city of great monuments, historical museums and other sites which belong to the World Heritage. Among them there is the Hermitage, the Mariinsky Theatre, Kazan Cathedral, the Peterhof Grand Palace, Saint Isaac’s Cathedral, the Church of the Saviour on Spilled Blood and many others.
The city is the place where a lot of festivals and celebrations are held. It is a unique city with its own ingenious atmosphere.

I live in a wonderful, beautiful town. I love it very much. The name of my town is Kotovo. It is situated not far from Volgograd.
I have arrived to live in this town recently. I have lived in St.-Petersburg before. Kotovo differs from big cities greatly. It is small and quiet. Life is measured, calm and kind. Everyone knows each other. People are kind, beautiful, native, close in my town. You don`t feel lonely here, as a rule it happens in big cities.
There are a library, a cinema, a palace of culture, a museum, a big sports hall and five schools in my town. Also there is a swimming pool in the sports hall. Children of my city like to visit it. There is a very beautiful central park. It is very beautiful in spring and summer. I like to have a rest, to sit on the bench and to read a book in the park. I like to walk on foot around the city, because I like to dream about my future. Kotovo is a magic place, especially in the evening. There are many old houses, monuments, small and narrow streets in the town. All these things create fantastic, mysterious atmosphere. I have met my love, my husband in this town.
Kotovo is the best town in the earth. And when I leave from it I always miss it very much. You can`t fall in love with my town.

Я приехала жить в этот город недавно. До этого я жила в Санкт-Петербурге. Котово очень отличается от больших городов. Он маленький и тихий. Жизнь размеренная, спокойная и добрая. Каждый знает друг друга. В моем Городе люди добрые, красивые, родные, близкие. Ты не чувствуешь себя одиноким здесь, как правило это случается в больших городах.
В моем городе есть библиотека, кинотеатр, дом культуры, музей, большой спортивный зал и пять школ. Также есть бассейн в спортивном зале. Дети моего города любят посещать его. Есть очень красивый центральный парк. Он очень красивый весной и летом. Я люблю отдохнуть, посидеть на скамейке и почитать книгу в этом парке. Novorossiysk is situated in the geographical point where three typys of environment meet: sea, mountains and steppes. During the Great PAtriotic War Novorossiysk became the arena of very severe combats. Due to courage and firmness of soviet warriors the enemy, who was heading for the Caucuses, was stopped here by the walls of the city in September of 1942. Small land is a bridgehead with the area of 27 square kilometers. For 225 days and nights there were fierce fights here. The Germans sent to divisions and lots of tanks against the marines. The enemy’s artyllery and frontline aveation rained down bombs and shells on the position of the marines. This unequal fight lasted for three days and nights, but the marines were able to hold the bridgehead until the landing of the main forces of the 18th landing army under the command of lieutenant general Leselidze K. N. There are lots of monuments in Novorossiysk. On the square of Freedom, in the centre of the city, the sculptural group of city defenders (a soldier, an infantryman and a girl – partisan) stiffened in their rushing forward movement. Above them proudly flutters the standard of victory. And on the seafront on the rising concrete wave stands a torpedo launch, the symbol of fast warships that assaulted the city in 1943. A bit further you can see the bronze figure of the Unknown Sailor. The bright pages of the city history, immortallized in stone and bronze, names of streets and squares, are connected with the revolutionary, war and labour traditions. I love my city very much!

My name is Anna and I’m 16 years old. I live in Rostov-on-Don, which is a large city in the south region of Russia. My family is not big. It’s just me, my parents and my grandpa.
The school, which I attend, is situated in a walking distance from us. My teacher, Alissa Ivanovna, often organizes school trips to other cities. Last year, we went to Saint-Petersburg for three days. It was during the holidays in May. Since then, I fell in love with this city. I’ve realized that it’s the most beautiful place I’ve ever seen.
I know that there are many other nice cities in our country and abroad, but none as charming as Saint-Petersburg. Perhaps, the first thing that I noticed, when we arrived, was the unique architecture. The second eye-catching thing is the abundance of bridges across the river Neva. I can hardly distinguish which building or bridge was the best, as they are all magnificent. The Winter Palace was undoubtedly one of the most beautiful structures. I also liked the Nikolaevskiy Palace and the Savior on the Spilled Blood Cathedral.
I regret that we had so little time to see all the sights, but we managed to visit Peterhof, which reminded me a kingdom of fountains, and Tsarskoe Selo. Peterhof was built on the orders of Peter the Great – the remarkable person, who ruled the country in the 17th and 18th centuries. Saint-Petersburg was even named after him and all the glorious architecture, which can now be seen in the city, is his merit. During his reign, best European masters were invited to erect the palaces, cathedrals, mansions, bridges and noble monuments. Unfortunately, we didn’t see the famous White Nights of Saint Petersburg, as they take place in June. But that’s a good reason to visit my favourite city one more time.

Меня зовут Анна и мне 16 лет. Я живу в большом городе в южном регионе России, в Ростове-на-Дону. Моя семья небольшая. В ней всего лишь я, мои родители и мой дедушка.
Школа, которую я посещаю, расположена в нескольких минутах ходьбы от нас. Моя учительница, Алиса Ивановна, часто организует школьные экскурсии в другие города. В прошлом году, мы поехали на три дня в Санкт-Петербург. Это было во время майских праздников. С тех пор я просто влюбилась в этот город. Я поняла, что это самое красивое место, которое я когда-либо видела.
Я знаю, что в нашей стране, равно как и за рубежом, есть много других симпатичных городов, но, ни один из них не имеет очарования Санкт-Петербурга. Возможно, первое, на что я обратила внимание, когда мы прибыли, это уникальная архитектура. Второе, что бросается в глаза, это обилие мостов через Неву. Мне сложно выделить какое-то одно здание или мост, так как они все великолепны. Зимний дворец был, несомненно, одним из самых красивых зданий. Мне также понравились Николаевский дворец и Храм Спаса-на-Крови.
Жаль, что у нас было так мало времени на осмотр всех достопримечательностей, но нам удалось посетить Петергоф, который напоминает царство фонтанов, и Царского Село. Петергоф был построен по приказу Петра Великого – выдающегося человека, который правил страной в 17 и 18 веках. Санкт-Петербург был даже назван в его честь, и вся чудесная архитектура, которую в настоящее время можно увидеть в городе, это его заслуга. I have many favourite places in my town: the Volga Bay, parks and cinemas.
You can see many people and children on the Volga Bay. There are many exciting coloured fountains here. In summer you can boat and in winter you can skate.
We have a lot of parks. Each park is very nice and cozy, where children and their parents gather for the merry and bright holidays, musical fairy tales, theatrical performances. Cheboksary is situated on both banks of the Volga, and is one of the most beautiful green cities in Russia. The main advantage of the Chuvash Republic is good location on the Volga River, which flows through the picturesque and green places. Volga and Sursko beaches, attractive natural landscape are attractive moments for tourism development.
The town also has a cinema. I love to go and watch movies with friends and parents.
We have a lot of monuments. Cheboksary is the cultural center of the republic and has more than 100 monuments, including prominent figures of culture and art.
I like Cheboksary very much and I love my city.

There is nothing better and the most expensive in the world like Native Land. It gives us wings for flight, lights every our step. It is impossible to choose Native Land. It can be only loved or treated indifferently to.
Unfortunately some people don’t have the sense of patriotism and feeling of pride. How to develop this sense?
Recently I have been to the city at the bank of the river the Neva – Saint Petersburg. I visited a lot of excursions and knew the city’s history. I was very impressed by magnificent buildings of Cathedrals, ancient Palace`s towers and many other sights. Having seen all the sights I understood that exactly in such cities we could develop the spirit of Homeland and bring up to love the country.
After this journey my love to the Native Land became stronger and I’m ready to defend it and do good to it.
