MY COUNTRY
I want to tell you about my country. Russia is the largest
country in the world. It covers eastern part of Europe and
northern part of Asia. Total area of Russia is about seventeen
million square kilometres with the population of about 145
million people.
The official name of Russia is the Russian Federation. The
colours of the national flag are white, blue and red. Russia’s
state emblem is a double headed eagle. The country is a
parliamentary republic, which means that the President is the
Head of the state. The main law of the country is the
Constitution. It guarantees the rights of the citizens.
The country is washed by twelve seas and three oceans: the
Pacific Ocean in the east, the Arctic Ocean in the north and the
Atlantic Ocean in the west. Russia borders on many countries:
China, Georgia, Finland, Norway, Byelorussia, Ukraine and
others. The landscape of Russia is varied. There are highlands
in the east, steppes in the south, plains and forests in the
midland, the tundra and the taiga in the north.
There are several mountain chains in my country, too: the Urals,
the Caucasus, the Altai and others. The largest chain is the
Urals which separates Russia’s European part from its Asian
part.
Russia is rich in rivers and lakes. The Volga which flows into
the Caspian Sea is the longest river in Russia. Lake Baikal is
the deepest lake in the world.
There are different types of climate on the territory of Russia.
It is very cold in the north, even in summer. In the central
part of the country winters are usually cold, summers are very
warm. The climate of Siberia is continental: summers are hot and
dry, winters are very cold and snowy. In the south of Russia the
temperature is usually above zero all year round, even in
winter.
Russia is an industrial country. It has a lot of mineral
resources: coal, natural gas and iron. There are a lot of large
factories and plants all over the country. Russia is also an
agricultural country. Russians plant corn, fruit and vegetables.
Russia has a very rich history. It is an ancient country with a
lot of historic places of interest, big cultural centres and
small towns. There are a lot of museums, theatres, cinemas,
libraries, restaurants and clubs in big Russian cities. Such
cities are usually noisy with heavy traffic in the streets and
are full of smoke.
The capital of Russia is Moscow. Moscow is one of the biggest
cities in Europe with the population more than ten million
people. The second largest city in Russia is St. Petersburg.
This is a city of numerous monuments, museums and art galleries.
The city is on the Neva River.
Russia is a great country with a great culture. I love my

Russia is unique country. Our country is well known around the world with its enormous territory, various and beautiful landscapes. In addition we have great history and cultural heritage. From generation to generation stories of great event and personalities are told. So thinking of native land we think about modern and former heroes: artists, musicians, writers and poets. I love my Russia and I proud with its endless fields, fertile forests, seas, rivers, lakes, cities and villages.
I could never leave my country. I was born here, same raised here so it became part of my life. I’m very glad to live in peaceful time. It is the opportunity to visit great school to get education, do my favorite things and stay close to my family and friends. Because homeland is not only land it’s also people that surround us in daily life. It’s bigger than one can imagine.
Deep knowledge about my country is my priority. I know it takes lots of efforts and there will be many difficulties but I’m confident about myself. As they say man is happy knowing his destination, where his should follow and how make his dreams into real. I will decorate my life with dreams having bright future ahead. And I’m really glad to live in Russia.

It has undergone several long-lasting stages of development. For example, at first it was inhabited by the Slavic tribes. Then, the Kievan Rus’ was formed, which was taken over by the Grand Duchy of Moscow. Then, there were the Tsardom of Russia, the Imperial Russia, the Soviet Union and, finally, the Russian Federation – the country we live in today.
Speaking about the cultural side of Russia may be noted Russian literature. There were so many well-known poets and writers in Russia, including Pushkin, Tolstoy, Chekhov, Dostoevsky, Lermontov, Tsvetaeva. Russian architecture is also remarkable. It has a distinct style, which can be seen in Orthodox cathedrals and numerous Kremlins.
National symbols of Russian Federation are Russian tricolor flag, the double-headed eagle, the Russian bear, the Matryoshka doll and Cheburashka.

Landscapes

Despite the economic problems that Russia is facing nowadays, the country remains one of the leading countries in the world.

Culture

Thus, the masterpieces of Pushkin, Chekhov, Repin, Malevich and Tchaikovsky have charmed millions of people in different parts of our planet.
However, Russia is also quite a multinational country, though all nations have a common history. In spite of the fact that the country is divided into federal republics and autonomous regions and areas, they are all united by common goals and ideology that leads to peaceful coexistence and productive collaboration of so different parts of our diverse country.
Furthermore, Russian nature dramatically varies too. One can find everything imaginable here. From enormous endless fields and forests with their unique beauty of flowers and trees to fascinating mountains, pure lakes and rivers. Here we can also see one of the symbols of our country, birch. Unity with nature brings us internal balance and energy.
Thus, I can say that I’m really proud of my country, of its history and culture. I like travelling and visiting other countries, understanding other cultures, but there is no such amazing and diverse country as Russia which is so comfortable to live in.

Единение с природой приносит нам душевное равновесие и энергию.
Итак, я могу сказать, что я действительно горжусь своей страной, ее историей и культурой. Мне нравится путешествовать и посещать другие страны, узнавать другие культуры, но такой удивительной, разнообразной и комфортной для жизни страны, как Россия, нет больше нигде.

Иностранцы при общении с русскими часто просят рассказать о родной стране, об особенностях менталитета жителей или национальных праздниках.
На этот случай лучше подготовиться и достойно рассказать о своей стране.
Если о России нужно рассказать в рамках выступления на уроке, рекомендуется составить небольшой план, рассказав коротко по каждому из пунктов. План может выглядеть так:
Вступление
Основная часть:- рассказать о географическом положении и населении;- описать особенности менталитета, обычаев и традиций;- рассказать о культуре и др.
Заключение Вступление
Если рассказ является устным выступлением на английском языке, а не продолжением общения с иностранцем, то необходимо начать с логического вступления.
Начало сделает более красивым крылатое выражение о родине.
Например, высказывание Сенеки: «Men love their country, not because it is great, but because it is their own» – «Родину любят не за то, что она велика, а за то, что она своя».
После можно продолжить, рассказав, что Россия – это ваша родная страна. Можно уточнить, в каком именно городе вы родились. Если речь идет о живом общении, то можно сразу приступать к основной части. В этом могут помочь вводные слова, например, «well» или «so». Основная часть

Russia is a parliamentary republic. The Head of State is the President. The legislative powers are exercised by the Duma.

At present, the political and economic situation in the country is rather complicated. There are a lot of problems in the national economy of the Russian Federation. The industrial production is decreasing. The prices are constantly rising, the rate of inflation is very high. People are losing their jobs because many factories and plants are going bankrupt. But in spite of the problems Russia is facing at present, there are a lot of opportunities for this country to become one of the leading countries in the world. I’m sure that we, the younger generation, can do very much to make Russia as strong and powerful as in used to be.

Children like to get together and go to the nearest creek to swim in a hot day, and there you can dissolve a fire and bake the potatoes with bacon. And in winter, they build a snow fortress, or take a big horse sleigh; the whole crowds drag them up to the hill and then laugh and go down through the village…
I love the village. Everyone knows you, your parents and grandparents. It seems the village to be a big family… I like “Molodetskie games” most of all. They are always held on Maslenitsa festival. Everybody in the village come to look at them. The teams arrive and the competitions in different kinds of sport take place. They pull rope, then lift weights, sing and dance … It’s very funny! … And then people burn a strawman and eat pancakes.
It is often said that a village inhabitant is different from a city man, and I do not deny it. People grown in village are much kinder and they like to communicate with other people. Just because they used to. I think it`s very good, because people are stronger together! Перевод:

Speaking about the cultural side of Russia may be noted Russian literature. There were so many well-known poets and writers in Russia, including Pushkin, Tolstoy, Chekhov, Dostoevsky, Lermontov, Tsvetaeva. Russian architecture is also remarkable. It has a distinct style, which can be seen in Orthodox cathedrals and numerous Kremlins.
National symbols of Russian Federation are Russian tricolor flag, the double-headed eagle, the Russian bear, the Matryoshka doll and Cheburashka.

About Russia
Location
Russia is also officially known as the Russian Federation. It’s the largest country in the world with the total area of about 17 million square kilometers. Russia is situated in Europe and in Asia. It is washed by 12 seas. Russia borders on Norway, Finland, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Belarus, Ukraine, Georgia, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, China, Mongolia and North Korea. It also has a sea border with Japan and the United States. The population of Russia is about 142 million people. It’s the ninth most populous nation in the world. The capital of the country is Moscow.
Landscapes
Russia has a great variety of landscapes. There are plains and forests, highlands and deserts, tundra and taiga. There are lots of mountains and over two million rivers in the country. The main ones are the Volga, which is the longest river in Europe, the Ob, the Yenisei and the Lena. Russia’s lakes contain one-quarter of the world’s fresh water. The deepest and the purest lake Baikal is situated in Russia.
Industrial country
Russia is a highly developed industrial country. It has the world’s largest reserves of mineral and energy resources. The country is rich in oil, coal, iron ore, natural gas, copper, nickel and other mineral resources. Despite the economic problems that Russia is facing nowadays, the country remains one of the leading countries in the world.

Russia is a parliamentary republic with the President being the Head of the State. The legislative powers are exercised by the Duma.
Culture
Russia is a country of unique culture. Its largest and most beautiful cities are Moscow and St. Petersburg where one can find numerous museums, parks, theatres, monuments, churches and lots of other interesting places.

Russia attracts millions of tourists every year.
It’s believed that the place where we were born is significantly important for us. First of all, we are greatly influenced by people around us and we are formed by moral and cultural values existing in a particular country. Moreover, we reflect the history of our nation and experience gained through the centuries. So, I can say that “motherland” is not only the word, but it’s in fact who we are.
As for me, I was born in Russia and I’m absolutely convinced that it’s the best place for living. To start with, Russia is the largest country in the world. It is famous for its natural sources such as oil and gas as well as its cultural inheritance for the reason that Russian music, art and literature are well-known all over the world. Thus, the masterpieces of Pushkin, Chekhov, Repin, Malevich and Tchaikovsky have charmed millions of people in different parts of our planet.
However, Russia is also quite a multinational country, though all nations have a common history. In spite of the fact that the country is divided into federal republics and autonomous regions and areas, they are all united by common goals and ideology that leads to peaceful coexistence and productive collaboration of so different parts of our diverse country.
Furthermore, Russian nature dramatically varies too. One can find everything imaginable here. From enormous endless fields and forests with their unique beauty of flowers and trees to fascinating mountains, pure lakes and rivers. Here we can also see one of the symbols of our country, birch. Unity with nature brings us internal balance and energy.
Thus, I can say that I’m really proud of my country, of its history and culture. I like travelling and visiting other countries, understanding other cultures, but there is no such amazing and diverse country as Russia which is so comfortable to live in.

Единение с природой приносит нам душевное равновесие и энергию.
Итак, я могу сказать, что я действительно горжусь своей страной, ее историей и культурой. Мне нравится путешествовать и посещать другие страны, узнавать другие культуры, но такой удивительной, разнообразной и комфортной для жизни страны, как Россия, нет больше нигде.

Иностранцы при общении с русскими часто просят рассказать о родной стране, об особенностях менталитета жителей или национальных праздниках.
На этот случай лучше подготовиться и достойно рассказать о своей стране.
Если о России нужно рассказать в рамках выступления на уроке, рекомендуется составить небольшой план, рассказав коротко по каждому из пунктов. План может выглядеть так:
Вступление
Основная часть:- рассказать о географическом положении и населении;- описать особенности менталитета, обычаев и традиций;- рассказать о культуре и др.
Заключение
Вступление
Если рассказ является устным выступлением на английском языке, а не продолжением общения с иностранцем, то необходимо начать с логического вступления.
Начало сделает более красивым крылатое выражение о родине.
Например, высказывание Сенеки: «Men love their country, not because it is great, but because it is their own» – «Родину любят не за то, что она велика, а за то, что она своя».
После можно продолжить, рассказав, что Россия – это ваша родная страна. Можно уточнить, в каком именно городе вы родились. Если речь идет о живом общении, то можно сразу приступать к основной части. В этом могут помочь вводные слова, например, «well» или «so».

В основной части нужно рассказать всю общую информацию о стране, привести конкретные цифры и данные. Это может выглядеть так:

Russia has one-sixth of the world’s forests. They are concentrated in the European north of the country, in Siberia and in the Far East. On the vast territory of the country there are various of climate, from arctic in the north to subtropical in the south. In the middle of the country the climate is temperate and continental.

If you are just passing this village in transport, you can notice nothing extraordinary, but if you take a closer look, you’ll never want to go away. The nature is wonderful there. Clean air, which every citizen dreams about, and the mountains and the forest in the background of the blue almost transparent sky, seem to be fabulous. There are a lotof lakes, where you can fish, go boating or just swim. There are a lot of mushrooms and berries in the forests. Walking along the paths, you can collect a bunch of flowers or just watch and take picture of other ones, which are in The Red Book. Children like to get together and go to the nearest creek to swim in a hot day, and there you can dissolve a fire and bake the potatoes with bacon. And in winter, they build a snow fortress, or take a big horse sleigh; the whole crowds drag them up to the hill and then laugh and go down through the village…
I love the village. Everyone knows you, your parents and grandparents. It seems the village to be a big family… I like “Molodetskie games” most of all. They are always held on Maslenitsa festival. Everybody in the village come to look at them. The teams arrive and the competitions in different kinds of sport take place. They pull rope, then lift weights, sing and dance … It’s very funny! … And then people burn a strawman and eat pancakes.
It is often said that a village inhabitant is different from a city man, and I do not deny it. People grown in village are much kinder and they like to communicate with other people. Just because they used to. I think it`s very good, because people are stronger together!

Ну а зимой, строим крепости из снега или берём большие конские сани, всей гурьбой затаскивали их на гору, а потом смеёмся и едем через всю деревню…
Люблю деревню. Все знают и тебя и родителей и бабушек с дедушками, такое впечатление, что это одна большая семья… Больше всего мне нравятся «молодецкие игры». Они всегда проводятся на масленицу. Вся деревня собирается посмотреть. Собирают команды и проводятся соревнования по различным видам спорта, то они канат перетягивают, то гири поднимают, то на столб залазают, кто быстрее, то поют, то танцуют… Весело.…А потом соломенную бабу сжигают и блины едят.
Часто говорят, что деревенского в городе сразу видно, а я не скрываю этого. Те, кто в деревне вырос намного добрее, и с другими людьми им общаться нравится. Просто они привыкли так. Мне кажется это очень хорошо, ведь вместе люди сильнее!

Russia – a multinational country, so divided in the Federal Republic, the autonomous region and county. They live almost two hundred different nations, large and small. This Russian, Tatar, Bashkir, Chuvash, Azerbaijanis, Ukrainians, Jews, Chukchi and many others. All of them are called Russians. All they have to live together, because they have a single country. Unfortunately, it is often the other way. But I hope that by the time I grow up, quarrels between nations in my country will stop.
