When you leave school you understand that the time to choose your future profession, your future life has become. It’s not easy to make the right choice of a job. I have known for long time that leaving school is the beginning of my independent life, the beginning of a far more serious examination of my abilities and character.
What do I want to be when I leave school? It’s very important question for me. A few years ago it was difficult for me to give a definite answer. As the years passed I changed my mind a lot of times about what science or field of industry to specialize in. It’s difficult to make up my mind and choose one of the hundreds jobs to which I might be better suited. A coupe of years ago I wanted to become a doctor, you know I wanted to help people who had problems with health. Then I wanted to become a policeman, then a spaceman, I even wanted to become a professional football player. But all of them now are in the past; they were like children’s dreams and nothing more. Now I have already decided what to do. I’d like to be an aviator. I know that it’s very difficult. I should know perfectly everything about the planes, airports, weather and other things. You know that the weather is very important thing for the flights too. I must be well educated and well informed. So that’s why at first I am going to go to the Aviation University in Moscow, then when I finish studding I’ll go to my country to try to get a job in the air companies. You know may be something will be not OK, because I don’t know what will happen tomorrow, but I know that I’ll do everything to realize my plane and my dreams.
I also want to say that the profession should be chosen according to the character and hobbies of the person. That’s why parents mustn’t make their children choose the thing they like (parents like). Children must do it themselves. Because they must love the thing they do, believe that people need them and their job will bring them more pleasure.

You should also decide whether you want to work indoors or outdoors.

Teacher’s work requires love for children, profound knowledge of subjects, and the ability to explain. A secretary has to be efficient and careful in order to do her work quickly and accurately. Salespeople need to be friendly and persuasive, to get people buy their products.

When a young man starts to think about a future career, he imagines a very glorious picture. But a person gets older he faces real life with its problems. After graduation from the Institute young specialists don’t have many variants. The most common one is to get work as a manager.
As for me, I don’t want to spend all the time in a stuffy office full of computers and printers. I believe that I will never impose unnecessary goods, compose boring reports, and be on phone all day. I understand that modern life could be more difficult without managers, but this kind of work not for me. We have one life and we ought to spend it wisely. I’m sure that in the future I’ll ask myself what I’ve achieved. I believe that any person is born to fulfil some goals, which nobody else, but himself, could define. So as sooner I define my goals as happier I will be.
I’m leaving school at the end of the spring and I always think about an educational institution which I need to choose. I think the ideal option for me will be any Choreographic Academy. I have been dancing all since I was five and I can’t imagine my future life without choreography. Dancing is the best way to express myself, to capture my emotions and thoughts to people. I adore dancing. When I’m engrossed in creation, I don’t think about my school problems and everyone around. I call it “inspiration”. I feel that a real connection between me and the Universe. So I just pick up some ideas and express them through dance using my body and emotions.
If I tell my friends or parents about this plan, perhaps they will say that I am aspiring to be famous. By no means, fame is a heavy burden. There is an important difference between the desire to be a famous artist and the desire not to be forgotten dancer. I don’t think the people of art are exceptional. If an architect creates buildings that will stand for many years, people will be thankful for his great work. If the writer’s novels are read in three hundred years, it will be wonderful. If a dancer’s creation will be remembered next generations, he will live in human hearts.
Any career should make the human who has chosen it satisfied. Otherwise, working routine will be an excruciation and nothing else. I really don’t want to write reports and answer the phone sitting in the office all day. I want my profession to make me happy, and I want to see happy people around me.
Now I have to think about my entrance exams. They are not so easy. I believe that my dream to become a great dancer will come true and I will be able to share the pleasure of dancing with other people.

Choosing a career
is one of the most important life decisions that every person
faces on the threshold of adulthood. It means that on leaving
school every teenager should be aware what he wants to become.
So, if you want to influence your future, it is high time to
take actions. At first, you have to learn about yourself. You
should take into account your values, interests, skills, as well
as certain personality traits which can identify the most
suitable professions for you. Then it is highly recommended to
study the field you want to work in and to find out what jobs
are in demand.
Confucius said,
“Choose a job you love, and you will never have to work a day in
your life.” I absolutely agree with this statement. In my
opinion, it is very important to find a job that gives you
pleasure and an opportunity to fulfill yourself. When you
completely devote yourself to your job, you get better and
quicker results. Moreover, when you love your job, you regard it
as a hobby rather than inevitable ruts. Personally, I want to
become an interpreter. Since childhood my reference book has
always been an illustrated dictionary. When I was twelve, I had
a chance to try my hand at speaking English. I lucked out to go
to Turkey and got acquainted with a friendly English couple
there. At first I experienced a language barrier, but then I
managed to break through it. So, since that time I realized how
important the knowledge of English is. As a matter of fact,
English is one of the most popular and wide-spread languages in
the world. Whenever you go, everybody can speak it. Besides,
more and more foreign companies are opening their offices in
Russia. So, the demand for interpreting services is on the rise.
Moreover, having a perfect command of English gives you much
more opportunities to find a highly-paid job. Another advantage
of developing good language skills is that you can read books in
the original, translate them and understand the content or
meaning that the writer wants to convey to the reader. Another
important thing to mention is that English gives you an
opportunity to travel around the world, to meet new people, to
know their culture and traditions, as well as to explore
different cuisines. Besides, travelling broadens the mind,
improves language skills and geographical knowledge and makes
life more interesting. I hope to find a job in an international
company and to be party to negotiations. I am sure that my

I am a school-leaver and this year I am finishing school. When you leave school, you understand that the time to choose your future profession has come. It is not an easy task to choose the right job for you.
There are a lot of different professions and it is really hard to choose the one, which would be interesting for you and will help you earn your living. Generally, I think that choosing the right job is the main question not only for a school-leaver, but also for all the family. Though I understand that parents can help their children make the right choice, I guess it is much wiser to look at what interests you personally and only then try to find something that might suit your interests and your personality using your parents’ advice.
As a child I liked to gather with my friends at my place and we imagined that we were at school. I was a teacher and my friends were pupils. All my mother’s recipe books were turned into school registers; all the furniture was used as blackboards where I drew with chalk. As a result, I was punished but I still didn’t change my dream to connect my future profession with children. Now I have already decided what to do. I would like to become a teacher.
In my opinion, to be a teacher is not an easy task because you need not only to love children, but you also should have an ability to explain things clearly, know your subject profoundly and be an all around person. Though this is not the easiest task, I am sure that I have got almost all necessary qualities to become a really good teacher.
Nowadays it is very important to know a foreign language, especially English. More and more people need qualified teachers to teach them today. I understand that this profession is greatly demanded and that is why I would like to become an English teacher. This year I am going to enter the department of foreign languages at the local University. To get an education of a teacher it is not the only thing one needs to become a real teacher. Good teachers continue learning their subject all their career to be able to answer any questions that might arise. They should be an example of competence for their pupils.
Our life is too short and that is why I cannot afford to waste my time on a job, which I am not going to enjoy. I hope that I will never regret choosing the career path of a teacher. When you leave your school you understand that the time to choose your future profession has come. Choosing a career isn’t an easy thing.
There are a lot of interesting professions in the world, so it is difficult to make the right choice. Some important jobs at the turn of the century are: nurse, photographer, editor, scientist, fireman, fashion designer and many other jobs.
Your choice of a job can be influenced by your skills and experience, your interest, your talent, pressure from your parents. For example, If you have a talent at Maths and you want your profession to be connected with this subject, you should start studying it very seriously. The same is with other subjects.
Jobs can be attractive or not attractive. Attractive jobs can be creative exciting, popular, prestigious, rewarding. Unattractive jobs are dangerous, boring, messy, tiring and not respected. Different jobs can require travelling a lot, a good imagination physical strength, special training ,working from home and so on.
I am leaving school in four years and I haven’t yet decided which profession to choose. My father wants me to follow in his footsteps and become a businessman. This profession is very popular, so there are a lot of businessmen and I think it is not good for me, and I am not interested in business or economics. My mother says that I should choose my future occupation myself.
Of course there are a lot of special books about different professions. I think I am good at Physics, so I think my job can be connected with this subject. I want to be a scientist. It is a very prestigious job. But It is very difficult to enter a university. If you do not have money and if you are not a genius, you will never enter a good university or an institute.
To sum up I would like to say that choosing my future career is a very important step in my life. I suppose that my facilities combined with knowledge will be quite enough to succeed in my work.
My future profession
A child usually dreams to be a doctor, a teacher, a firefighter or even an astronaut in the future. These professions are very important, so it is wonderful when child’s dream comes true and he or she becomes an expert in the particular field, for example, in medicine.
I think that everyone should work. It may be easy or difficult work, well-paid or low-paid. However, what is even more important is that the work must bring the joy. Of course, the salary is important nowadays but if you are not happy with your job, the salary will mean almost nothing. In this case you should find something else, something that will make you smile. This work even may become just a little addition to the main job.
My dream is to become an interpreter in the future. Why have I chosen this particular profession? The answer is quite simple. I like studying foreign languages and cultures. When I study a new foreign language, a new world seems to be opened to me. I can find something unusual, unique, fascinating or even strange there but it is the wonderful experience.
The profession of an interpreter gives you an opportunity to meet new people from different countries or social groups. It teaches you to make decisions right here and right now. It is the experience that you cannot get even being a translator, for example. This is the main reason why I want to be an interpreter.
I will do my best to become an interpreter in the future because this is the work that can make me happy.

В этом случае вы должны найти что-то другое, то, что заставит вас улыбнуться. Эта работа даже может стать всего лишь небольшим дополнением к вашей основной профессии.
Моя мечта – это стать в будущем устным переводчиком. Почему я выбрала именно эту профессию? Ответ довольно прост. Я люблю изучать иностранные языки и культуры. Когда я изучаю новый иностранный язык, для меня словно открывается новый мир, в котором я могу найти что-то необычное, уникальное, увлекательное или даже странное, но это замечательный опыт.
Профессия переводчика дает возможность познакомиться с новыми людьми из разных стран или социальных групп. Она учит вас принимать решения здесь и сейчас. Это тот опыт, который вы не можете получить, например, даже будучи письменным переводчиком. Это основная причина, почему я хочу быть именно устным переводчиком.

Finishing school is the beginning of the independent life for millions of school leavers. Many roads are open to them: technical schools, institutes and universities. But it is not an easy thing to choose a profession out of more than 2000 existing professions in the world. Some pupils follow the advice of their parents, others can’t decide even after leaving school.
Choosing the kind of career to follow is probably one of the most important decisions you will ever make. Before you make this decision you will have to do a lot of thinking about who you are, about the things you like to do and the things you do well. It is an advantage to choose a future career while at school. It gives a goal to work towards and enables to choose a right, suitable course of study. When deciding your future you must be realistic about your interests and abilities.
There are a lot of magazines for teenagers that often offer questionnaires, quizzes or surveys to help young people to see their interests and abilities more clearly and to make a decision concerning their future occupation.
Frankly speaking at present I have a very vogue idea about my future career and I am unable to give a detailed account of the activities it will involve.
But I am convinced that for every trade, profession or occupation you have to acquire necessary skills and practical experience. Not all professions require higher education and they are of great demand now and satisfy the needs of society. But I see things a little differently, because it is my firm belief that learning is the greatest of all adventures, and being a highly educated person gives you top priority and a position in society and what is most important – self-satisfaction. And now being not so far from leaving school the career sounds interesting to me if I have a higher education, good working conditions, if I can get steady salary, if it suits my interests, if it is not monotonous and gives me promotion in the future, if it helps me to establish myself in life and can give me independence and opportunities to develop special abilities and of course if I’m able to take it up and my interests can be channeled in to this work.
As for me in future I would like to become an interpreter. I know that interpreters have opportunities to visit different countries and continents. It attracts me, because I’ll get acquainted with various peoples and I’ll learn their customs, rituals and traditions. I’m sure that this creative profession enriches our mind and we become more educated. I think that an interpreter is a very useful profession, because it helps people to communicate. But of course if you want to be an interpreter, you will need definite qualification. At first you must know one foreign language at least. It’s good, if you know English (the language of the planet) and any other language. Also you should know colloquial expressions and slang. You should know the history of the country the language of which you are studying, ways of life that are typical for this country, etc. And of course you must be a sociable, communicative and patient person. I think that this kind of career will suit me because I have almost all qualifications that are needed. But I must continue to work with English grammar and vocabulary as well and German pronunciation. I like this job and I hope that I’ll become an interpreter. I hope that my dream will be realized. I try to read English books in the original, learn 10 words at a time and listen to English songs every day, because I want to fulfill my ambitions.
The matter of choosing a career
I’m going to tell you about my future profession. There are two most important things in anyone’s life: choosing a career and getting a job. Some pupils know what they are going to do after leaving school but for others it’s difficult to give a definite answer about their future profession. We get to know about a wide range of professions from magazines and advertisements and then we make either our own choice or follow our parents’ advice as they are also concerned about our future.

When choosing a career one should take into consideration all the possibilities that it might provide. First of all, it should be interesting. Secondly, one has to be sure to be able to find a good and well-paid job after graduating. Another important factor that influences the choice of the profession is our abilities to different disciplines. One has to analyze thoroughly which things or subjects he or she is good at, and only then make a final choice.
I want to be an interpreter
As for me, since my childhood I’ve known I want to be an interpreter. My choice is closely connected with the importance of foreign languages and cultures which is growing nowadays. Foreign languages are needed for communication with people on our planet. I believe that among all, English is the most universal and widely spread. It’s an official language in a vast number of countries. Besides, it’s the language of international aviation, sports, medicine, the language of science and technology, trade, cultural and business relations.
Conclusion
I’m quite aware that the job of an interpreter isn’t an easy one. You have to be very communicative and responsible. Moreover, be prepared to work long hours and move around a lot. But on the other hand you’ll have a chance to travel to different foreign countries and to meet a lot of interesting people. I think this profession is worth taking up. Being a student of the University I pay special attention to English and try to work hard. I hope I’ve made the right decision.

“If you don’t think about your future, you can’t have one”, — I agree with these words said by John Galsworthy. I’m convinced that today everyone worries much about the problems of the future alongside with the problems of getting along with their family and friends. Of course, it is not simple to choose an occupation at my age. It is not an easy to choose a profession out of more than two thousand existing in the world.
We are well aware of the situation in our society and we realize that the situation around forces us to do well at school. It gives you a goal for working hard. The role played by school in our life is hard to overestimate. It teaches us many subjects and other important things, helps to discover special talents. I personally believe that a young person can better approach his future if he manages to widen his outlook while at school and the teachers expand to great extent the boundaries of our world. For sure, our minds should be enriched with a decent level of knowledge in the vast branches of science and humanities: maths, physics, foreign languages.
As for me, I like languages, and I consider that the choice of my occupation will be connected with them. I’d like to study languages not only because I found myself extremely keen on foreign places, culture and traditions. Nowadays, English is to be learned because it’s already become the international language, pushing aside French and German.
Nearly 50 % of all the companies in Europe communicate in English. 80 % of all information in the world’s in English. It’s the language of the United Nations. The latest ideas in medicine and science appear in special international magazines also in English. That’s because both of these subjects are now completely international, for doctors and scientists everywhere are trying to answer the same questions. Every pilot and ship’s captain has to speak English. It’s the language of the sky and the sea.
So, to be honest, I haven’t decided whom to become yet, still I know that my profession will be connected with the English language.

Я убежден(а), что сегодня все очень волнуются о собственном будущем — никак не меньше, чем о взаимоотношениях с членами семьи и друзьями. Конечно, не просто выбрать будущее занятие в моем возрасте. Не легко выбрать профессию из более двух тысяч существующих в мире.
Мы хорошо осведомлены о ситуации в нашем обществе, и мы понимаем, что ситуация вокруг вынуждает нас хорошо учиться в школе. Перед нами поставлена цель – упорно трудиться . Роль, которую играет школа в нашей жизни, сложно переоценить. Здесь нам преподают множество предметов, помогают раскрыть таланты. Я лично полагаю, что молодой человек/девушка может лучше подготовиться к будущему, если ему/ей удастся расширить свой кругозор, а в школе учителя помогают расширяют границы наших познаний. Естественно, мы должны обладать приличным уровнем знаний в различных отраслях естественных и гуманитарных наук: в математике, физике, иностранных языках.
Что касается меня, то мне нравится изучать языки, и я полагаю, что выбор моей профессии будет связан с ними. Я хотел бы изучить языки не только потому, что меня чрезвычайно увлекает информация о зарубежных странах, культуре и традициях. В наше время английский язык нужно изучать еще и потому, что он уже стал международным языком, потеснив даже французский и немецкий языки.

When choosing a future career, we should consider different factors. In my opinion, money is one of the most important factors when you make a choice. There are highly paid jobs and low-paid jobs. For example, a businessman, a president or a film star, are highly paid jobs. A worker, a doctor or an engineer, are low-paid jobs. I think everybody wants to earn as much money as possible. Training, promotional prospects and conditions should be also taken into account.
On the other hand, it’s good when you get satisfaction from your job. It is very important to choose a profession that suits your interests. In my opinion, a job should be interesting and socially important. Some jobs are considered to be more suitable for men and others for women. For example, the professions of secretary or nurse are more suitable for women. A lifeguard or a pilot are more likely the jobs for men. You should also decide whether you want to work indoors or outdoors.
To make the right choice, you should take into account your traits of character. It goes without saying that to become a good doctor you must be patient, caring and kind. Teacher’s work requires love for children, profound knowledge of subjects, and the ability to explain. A secretary has to be efficient and careful in order to do her work quickly and accurately. Salespeople need to be friendly and persuasive, to get people buy their products.
There are so many people who influence us in choosing our occupation. Parents and friends play a very important role in our choices.
My father works for an international company as a managing director. It is a highly paid job and it offers a lot of opportunities. You can travel abroad and meet different people. My father is a friendly person and he is easy to talk to. He thinks that I must choose my future profession according to my taste and preferences. I respect him and I want to become a businessman, too.
I have always been interested in economics and I am good at Maths. I have an aptitude for working with people, and I think I’m rather communicative and have good social skills. I have good analytical abilities and I am good at problem-solving. Besides, I am good at English. English has become the standard language for all kinds of international business communications. To know English today is absolutely necessary for every businessman.
To become a successful businessman you should know a lot. So after finishing school I want to enter the university and to study marketing or management. Management deals mainly with people. A manager is a person who directly supervises people in an organization. Managers spend a great deal of time communicating, coordinating and making decisions affecting the daily operations of their organization. Almost everything, a manager does, involves decisions, and in decision-making there is always uncertainty and risk. So managing is a very interesting, but difficult, job.
Marketing deals with market research and commercial activity in general. It involves analyzing business situations, evaluating market opportunities, developing market strategies and controlling their implementation. It is important for a specialist in marketing to be flexible and prepared to make adjustments where necessary, as it is unlikely that any marketing plan will succeed exactly as planned.
I haven’t decided yet what to study. But I still have time to think and to choose.

Now I have already decided what to do. I’d like to be an aviator. I know that it’s very difficult. I should know perfectly everything about the planes, airports, weather and other things. You know that the weather is very important thing for the flights too. I must be well educated and well informed. So that’s why at first I am going to go to the Aviation University in Moscow, then when I finish studding I’ll go to my country to try to get a job in the air companies. You know may be something will be not OK, because I don’t know what will happen tomorrow, but I know that I’ll do everything to realize my plane and my dreams.
I also want to say that the profession should be chosen according to the character and hobbies of the person. That’s why parents mustn’t make their children choose the thing they like (parents like). Children must do it themselves. Because they must love the thing they do, believe that people need them and their job will bring them more pleasure.

Choosing a future career is one of the biggest problems for young people. It does not only depend on some preference or the teenager, but also on some other aspects such as salary, the job s requirements, and others. People start to think about a future job in their early years. But from their childhood, they change their opinions many times. But what is the reason for that?
The main reason is that the speed of change is accelerating rapidly and some jobs which were on the top of most demanding have become some of the most useless or underpaid. That is why some job areas which did well in the past now are doing badly.
As for me there are many vital aspects of choosing my future job. First, and the main reason for choosing my job, is salary. Of course it should give me a decent living wage. But this is not enough for me. I want also to get a job that can give me an opportunity to buy some luxuries, for example, designer clothes. Maybe my job can also give me some perks or benefits.
Then my job should be connected with my interests. They are: communicating with people, using foreign languages, doing some creative tasks, and others. I can`t stand doing menial tasks and running errands.
After that, I want to find a job in which I can realize my potential and move up the company ladder quickly. Maybe these prospects can be a guarantee of my future stability.
Last, but not the least reason, is a flexible schedule. I believe that I could crack the whip with other things, except the work. So I need to have the possibility to get away from work at any time.
Now I am thinking about being a manager. It is rather in demand nowadays, but there is a high turnover of staff in this area, so I should work hard and get a good university degree if I want to get to the top in this field. So I can say that salary, meeting my interests, moving up the corporate ladder, and a flexible schedule are what I am looking for in my future.

Я также хочу иметь работу, которая может дать мне возможность покупать какую-нибудь роскошь, например дизайнерские вещи. Еще моя работа должна быть сопряжена с моими интересами. Это: общение с людьми, использование иностранных языков, выполнение каких-нибудь творческих заданий и т.п. Я терпеть не могу выполнение каких-либо мелких поручений.
Также я хочу найти работу, где я смогу реализовать свой потенциал и быстро подниматься вверх по карьерной лестнице. Возможно, эти проспекты будут гарантией моего стабильно будущего.
Последняя, но не самая незначительная причина-это гибкий рабочий график. Я думаю, что у меня будет много других забот, помимо работы, тогда у меня должна быть возможность уйти с работы в любое время.

What do you want to be when you grow up? We have heard this question many times during our school years. Perhaps, it was difficult for us to give a definite answer earlier. But now we understand that the time to choose our future profession has come. Finishing school is the beginning of an independent life for millions of school-leavers. Many roads are open before us: technical schools, colleges and universities. Centuries ago there were only a few jobs: people were farmers, bakers, butchers or carpenters. Today there are thousands of different kinds of jobs, and new ones are constantly appearing. No wonder that it is not an easy thing to make the right choice.
When choosing a future career, we should consider different factors. In my opinion, money is one of the most important factors when you make a choice. There are highly paid jobs and low-paid jobs. For example, a businessman, a president or a film star, are highly paid jobs. A worker, a doctor or an engineer, are low-paid jobs. I think everybody wants to earn as much money as possible. Training, promotional prospects and conditions should be also taken into account.
On the other hand, it’s good when you get satisfaction from your job. It is very important to choose a profession that suits your interests. In my opinion, a job should be interesting and socially important. Some jobs are considered to be more suitable for men and others for women. For example, the professions of secretary or nurse are more suitable for women. A lifeguard or a pilot are more likely the jobs for men. You should also decide whether you want to work indoors or outdoors.
To make the right choice, you should take into account your traits of character. It goes without saying that to become a good doctor you must be patient, caring and kind. When a young man starts to think about a future career, he imagines a very glorious picture. But a person gets older he faces real life with its problems. After graduation from the Institute young specialists don’t have many variants. The most common one is to get work as a manager.
As for me, I don’t want to spend all the time in a stuffy office full of computers and printers. I believe that I will never impose unnecessary goods, compose boring reports, and be on phone all day. I understand that modern life could be more difficult without managers, but this kind of work not for me. We have one life and we ought to spend it wisely. I’m sure that in the future I’ll ask myself what I’ve achieved. I believe that any person is born to fulfil some goals, which nobody else, but himself, could define. So as sooner I define my goals as happier I will be.
I’m leaving school at the end of the spring and I always think about an educational institution which I need to choose. I think the ideal option for me will be any Choreographic Academy. I have been dancing all since I was five and I can’t imagine my future life without choreography. Dancing is the best way to express myself, to capture my emotions and thoughts to people. I adore dancing. When I’m engrossed in creation, I don’t think about my school problems and everyone around. I call it “inspiration”. I feel that a real connection between me and the Universe. So I just pick up some ideas and express them through dance using my body and emotions.
If I tell my friends or parents about this plan, perhaps they will say that I am aspiring to be famous. By no means, fame is a heavy burden. There is an important difference between the desire to be a famous artist and the desire not to be forgotten dancer. I don’t think the people of art are exceptional. If an architect creates buildings that will stand for many years, people will be thankful for his great work. If the writer’s novels are read in three hundred years, it will be wonderful. If a dancer’s creation will be remembered next generations, he will live in human hearts.
Any career should make the human who has chosen it satisfied. Otherwise, working routine will be an excruciation and nothing else. I really don’t want to write reports and answer the phone sitting in the office all day. I want my profession to make me happy, and I want to see happy people around me.
Now I have to think about my entrance exams. They are not so easy. I believe that my dream to become a great dancer will come true and I will be able to share the pleasure of dancing with other people.

Choosing a career
is one of the most important life decisions that every person
faces on the threshold of adulthood. It means that on leaving
school every teenager should be aware what he wants to become.
So, if you want to influence your future, it is high time to
take actions. At first, you have to learn about yourself. You
should take into account your values, interests, skills, as well
as certain personality traits which can identify the most
suitable professions for you. Then it is highly recommended to
study the field you want to work in and to find out what jobs
are in demand.
Confucius said,
“Choose a job you love, and you will never have to work a day in
your life.” I absolutely agree with this statement. In my
opinion, it is very important to find a job that gives you
pleasure and an opportunity to fulfill yourself. When you
completely devote yourself to your job, you get better and
quicker results. Moreover, when you love your job, you regard it
as a hobby rather than inevitable ruts. Personally, I want to
become an interpreter. Since childhood my reference book has
always been an illustrated dictionary. When I was twelve, I had
a chance to try my hand at speaking English. I lucked out to go
to Turkey and got acquainted with a friendly English couple
there. At first I experienced a language barrier, but then I
managed to break through it. So, since that time I realized how
important the knowledge of English is. As a matter of fact,
English is one of the most popular and wide-spread languages in
the world. Whenever you go, everybody can speak it. Besides,
more and more foreign companies are opening their offices in
Russia. So, the demand for interpreting services is on the rise.
Moreover, having a perfect command of English gives you much
more opportunities to find a highly-paid job. Another advantage
of developing good language skills is that you can read books in
the original, translate them and understand the content or
meaning that the writer wants to convey to the reader. Another
important thing to mention is that English gives you an
opportunity to travel around the world, to meet new people, to
know their culture and traditions, as well as to explore
different cuisines. Besides, travelling broadens the mind,
improves language skills and geographical knowledge and makes
life more interesting. I hope to find a job in an international
company and to be party to negotiations. I am sure that my
dreams will soon become a reality.

Выбор профессии является одним из
важнейших решений, с принятием которых каждый человек
сталкивается на пороге во взрослую жизнь. Это означает, что по
окончании школы каждый подросток должен отдавать себе отчет в
том, кем он хочет стать. Итак, если вы хотите сами повлиять на
свое будущее, то сейчас самое время предпринимать действия.
Сначала необходимо познать себя, приняв во внимание свои
ценности, интересы, способности, а также определенные черты
личности, которые смогут определить наиболее подходящие
профессии для вас. Затем рекомендуется изучить сферу
деятельности, в которой вы хотите работать, и узнать, какие
профессии являются наиболее востребованными.
Как сказал Конфуций: «Выбери работу
по душе, и тебе больше не придется работать ни дня в своей
жизни». Я полностью согласна с данным утверждением. Я считаю,
что очень важно найти работу, которая будет приносить
удовольствие и даст возможность реализовать себя. Когда ты
полностью посвящаешь себя своей работе, ты можешь быстрее
достичь лучших результатов. Более того, когда ты любишь свою
работу, ты воспринимаешь ее как любимое занятие, а не неизбежную
рутину. Лично я хочу стать переводчиком. С самого детства моей
настольной книгой был словарь. Когда мне исполнилось двенадцать
лет, у меня появилась возможность испытать свои силы в знаниях
английского языка. Мне посчастливилось поехать в Турцию и
познакомиться с очень дружелюбной парой из Англии. Вначале у
меня был языковой барьер, но вскоре мне удалось его преодолеть.
Именно с этого момента я осознала, насколько важно знание
английского языка. Следует отметить, что английский является
одним из наиболее популярных и широко распространенных языков в
мире. Куда бы ты ни поехал, везде говорят на этом языке. Кроме
того, все больше и больше иностранных компаний открывают свои
офисы в России. Таким образом, спрос на переводческие услуги
тоже растет с каждым днем. Более того, отличное знание
английского языка открывает перед вами гораздо больше
возможностей для получения высокооплачиваемой работы. Еще одним
преимуществом развития лингвистических навыков является тот
факт, что вы можете читать книги в оригинале, переводить их и
понимать именно тот смысл, который автор хотел донести до
читателя. Следующим немаловажным фактором, о котором следует
упомянуть, является тот факт, что знание языка дает возможность
путешествовать по всему миру, знакомиться с новыми людьми,
узнавать об их культуре и традициях, а также пробовать

I am a school-leaver and this year I am finishing school. When you leave school, you understand that the time to choose your future profession has come. It is not an easy task to choose the right job for you.
There are a lot of different professions and it is really hard to choose the one, which would be interesting for you and will help you earn your living. Generally, I think that choosing the right job is the main question not only for a school-leaver, but also for all the family. Though I understand that parents can help their children make the right choice, I guess it is much wiser to look at what interests you personally and only then try to find something that might suit your interests and your personality using your parents’ advice.
As a child I liked to gather with my friends at my place and we imagined that we were at school. I was a teacher and my friends were pupils. All my mother’s recipe books were turned into school registers; all the furniture was used as blackboards where I drew with chalk. As a result, I was punished but I still didn’t change my dream to connect my future profession with children. Now I have already decided what to do. I would like to become a teacher.
In my opinion, to be a teacher is not an easy task because you need not only to love children, but you also should have an ability to explain things clearly, know your subject profoundly and be an all around person. Though this is not the easiest task, I am sure that I have got almost all necessary qualities to become a really good teacher.
Nowadays it is very important to know a foreign language, especially English. More and more people need qualified teachers to teach them today. I understand that this profession is greatly demanded and that is why I would like to become an English teacher. This year I am going to enter the department of foreign languages at the local University. To get an education of a teacher it is not the only thing one needs to become a real teacher. Good teachers continue learning their subject all their career to be able to answer any questions that might arise. They should be an example of competence for their pupils.
Our life is too short and that is why I cannot afford to waste my time on a job, which I am not going to enjoy. I hope that I will never regret choosing the career path of a teacher.

When you leave your school you understand that the time to choose your future profession has come. Choosing a career isn’t an easy thing.
There are a lot of interesting professions in the world, so it is difficult to make the right choice. Some important jobs at the turn of the century are: nurse, photographer, editor, scientist, fireman, fashion designer and many other jobs.
Your choice of a job can be influenced by your skills and experience, your interest, your talent, pressure from your parents. For example, If you have a talent at Maths and you want your profession to be connected with this subject, you should start studying it very seriously. The same is with other subjects.
Jobs can be attractive or not attractive. Attractive jobs can be creative exciting, popular, prestigious, rewarding. Unattractive jobs are dangerous, boring, messy, tiring and not respected. Different jobs can require travelling a lot, a good imagination physical strength, special training ,working from home and so on.
I am leaving school in four years and I haven’t yet decided which profession to choose. My father wants me to follow in his footsteps and become a businessman. This profession is very popular, so there are a lot of businessmen and I think it is not good for me, and I am not interested in business or economics. My mother says that I should choose my future occupation myself.
Of course there are a lot of special books about different professions. I think I am good at Physics, so I think my job can be connected with this subject. I want to be a scientist. It is a very prestigious job. But It is very difficult to enter a university. If you do not have money and if you are not a genius, you will never enter a good university or an institute.
To sum up I would like to say that choosing my future career is a very important step in my life. I suppose that my facilities combined with knowledge will be quite enough to succeed in my work.
My future profession
A child usually dreams to be a doctor, a teacher, a firefighter or even an astronaut in the future. These professions are very important, so it is wonderful when child’s dream comes true and he or she becomes an expert in the particular field, for example, in medicine.
I think that everyone should work. It may be easy or difficult work, well-paid or low-paid. However, what is even more important is that the work must bring the joy. Of course, the salary is important nowadays but if you are not happy with your job, the salary will mean almost nothing. In this case you should find something else, something that will make you smile. This work even may become just a little addition to the main job.
My dream is to become an interpreter in the future. Why have I chosen this particular profession? The answer is quite simple. I like studying foreign languages and cultures. When I study a new foreign language, a new world seems to be opened to me. I can find something unusual, unique, fascinating or even strange there but it is the wonderful experience.
The profession of an interpreter gives you an opportunity to meet new people from different countries or social groups. It teaches you to make decisions right here and right now. It is the experience that you cannot get even being a translator, for example. This is the main reason why I want to be an interpreter.
I will do my best to become an interpreter in the future because this is the work that can make me happy.

Когда я изучаю новый иностранный язык, для меня словно открывается новый мир, в котором я могу найти что-то необычное, уникальное, увлекательное или даже странное, но это замечательный опыт.
Профессия переводчика дает возможность познакомиться с новыми людьми из разных стран или социальных групп. Она учит вас принимать решения здесь и сейчас. Это тот опыт, который вы не можете получить, например, даже будучи письменным переводчиком. Это основная причина, почему я хочу быть именно устным переводчиком.
Я сделаю все возможное, чтобы стать устным переводчиком в будущем, потому что это та работа, которая может сделать меня счастливым.

Finishing school is the beginning of the independent life for millions of school leavers. Many roads are open to them: technical schools, institutes and universities. But it is not an easy thing to choose a profession out of more than 2000 existing professions in the world. Some pupils follow the advice of their parents, others can’t decide even after leaving school.
Choosing the kind of career to follow is probably one of the most important decisions you will ever make. Before you make this decision you will have to do a lot of thinking about who you are, about the things you like to do and the things you do well. It is an advantage to choose a future career while at school. It gives a goal to work towards and enables to choose a right, suitable course of study. When deciding your future you must be realistic about your interests and abilities.
There are a lot of magazines for teenagers that often offer questionnaires, quizzes or surveys to help young people to see their interests and abilities more clearly and to make a decision concerning their future occupation.
Frankly speaking at present I have a very vogue idea about my future career and I am unable to give a detailed account of the activities it will involve.
But I am convinced that for every trade, profession or occupation you have to acquire necessary skills and practical experience. Not all professions require higher education and they are of great demand now and satisfy the needs of society. But I see things a little differently, because it is my firm belief that learning is the greatest of all adventures, and being a highly educated person gives you top priority and a position in society and what is most important – self-satisfaction. And now being not so far from leaving school the career sounds interesting to me if I have a higher education, good working conditions, if I can get steady salary, if it suits my interests, if it is not monotonous and gives me promotion in the future, if it helps me to establish myself in life and can give me independence and opportunities to develop special abilities and of course if I’m able to take it up and my interests can be channeled in to this work.
As for me in future I would like to become an interpreter. I know that interpreters have opportunities to visit different countries and continents. It attracts me, because I’ll get acquainted with various peoples and I’ll learn their customs, rituals and traditions. I’m sure that this creative profession enriches our mind and we become more educated. I think that an interpreter is a very useful profession, because it helps people to communicate. But of course if you want to be an interpreter, you will need definite qualification. At first you must know one foreign language at least. It’s good, if you know English (the language of the planet) and any other language. Also you should know colloquial expressions and slang. You should know the history of the country the language of which you are studying, ways of life that are typical for this country, etc. And of course you must be a sociable, communicative and patient person. I think that this kind of career will suit me because I have almost all qualifications that are needed. But I must continue to work with English grammar and vocabulary as well and German pronunciation. I like this job and I hope that I’ll become an interpreter. I hope that my dream will be realized. I try to read English books in the original, learn 10 words at a time and listen to English songs every day, because I want to fulfill my ambitions.
The matter of choosing a career
I’m going to tell you about my future profession. There are two most important things in anyone’s life: choosing a career and getting a job. Some pupils know what they are going to do after leaving school but for others it’s difficult to give a definite answer about their future profession. We get to know about a wide range of professions from magazines and advertisements and then we make either our own choice or follow our parents’ advice as they are also concerned about our future.
Choosing a career
When choosing a career one should take into consideration all the possibilities that it might provide. First of all, it should be interesting. Secondly, one has to be sure to be able to find a good and well-paid job after graduating. Another important factor that influences the choice of the profession is our abilities to different disciplines. One has to analyze thoroughly which things or subjects he or she is good at, and only then make a final choice.
I want to be an interpreter
As for me, since my childhood I’ve known I want to be an interpreter. My choice is closely connected with the importance of foreign languages and cultures which is growing nowadays. Foreign languages are needed for communication with people on our planet. I believe that among all, English is the most universal and widely spread. It’s an official language in a vast number of countries. Besides, it’s the language of international aviation, sports, medicine, the language of science and technology, trade, cultural and business relations.
Conclusion
I’m quite aware that the job of an interpreter isn’t an easy one. You have to be very communicative and responsible. Moreover, be prepared to work long hours and move around a lot. But on the other hand you’ll have a chance to travel to different foreign countries and to meet a lot of interesting people. I think this profession is worth taking up. Being a student of the University I pay special attention to English and try to work hard. I hope I’ve made the right decision.

“If you don’t think about your future, you can’t have one”, — I agree with these words said by John Galsworthy. I’m convinced that today everyone worries much about the problems of the future alongside with the problems of getting along with their family and friends. Of course, it is not simple to choose an occupation at my age. It is not an easy to choose a profession out of more than two thousand existing in the world.
We are well aware of the situation in our society and we realize that the situation around forces us to do well at school. It gives you a goal for working hard. The role played by school in our life is hard to overestimate. It teaches us many subjects and other important things, helps to discover special talents. I personally believe that a young person can better approach his future if he manages to widen his outlook while at school and the teachers expand to great extent the boundaries of our world. For sure, our minds should be enriched with a decent level of knowledge in the vast branches of science and humanities: maths, physics, foreign languages.
As for me, I like languages, and I consider that the choice of my occupation will be connected with them. I’d like to study languages not only because I found myself extremely keen on foreign places, culture and traditions. Nowadays, English is to be learned because it’s already become the international language, pushing aside French and German.
Nearly 50 % of all the companies in Europe communicate in English. 80 % of all information in the world’s in English. It’s the language of the United Nations. The latest ideas in medicine and science appear in special international magazines also in English. That’s because both of these subjects are now completely international, for doctors and scientists everywhere are trying to answer the same questions. Every pilot and ship’s captain has to speak English. It’s the language of the sky and the sea.
So, to be honest, I haven’t decided whom to become yet, still I know that my profession will be connected with the English language.

Я убежден(а), что сегодня все очень волнуются о собственном будущем — никак не меньше, чем о взаимоотношениях с членами семьи и друзьями. Конечно, не просто выбрать будущее занятие в моем возрасте. Не легко выбрать профессию из более двух тысяч существующих в мире.
Мы хорошо осведомлены о ситуации в нашем обществе, и мы понимаем, что ситуация вокруг вынуждает нас хорошо учиться в школе. Перед нами поставлена цель – упорно трудиться . Роль, которую играет школа в нашей жизни, сложно переоценить. Здесь нам преподают множество предметов, помогают раскрыть таланты. Я лично полагаю, что молодой человек/девушка может лучше подготовиться к будущему, если ему/ей удастся расширить свой кругозор, а в школе учителя помогают расширяют границы наших познаний. Естественно, мы должны обладать приличным уровнем знаний в различных отраслях естественных и гуманитарных наук: в математике, физике, иностранных языках.
Что касается меня, то мне нравится изучать языки, и я полагаю, что выбор моей профессии будет связан с ними. Я хотел бы изучить языки не только потому, что меня чрезвычайно увлекает информация о зарубежных странах, культуре и традициях. В наше время английский язык нужно изучать еще и потому, что он уже стал международным языком, потеснив даже французский и немецкий языки.

My future career
What do you want to be when you grow up? We have heard this question many times during our school years. Perhaps, it was difficult for us to give a definite answer earlier. But now we understand that the time to choose our future profession has come. Finishing school is the beginning of an independent life for millions of school-leavers. Many roads are open before us: technical schools, colleges and universities. Centuries ago there were only a few jobs: people were farmers, bakers, butchers or carpenters. Today there are thousands of different kinds of jobs, and new ones are constantly appearing. No wonder that it is not an easy thing to make the right choice.
When choosing a future career, we should consider different factors. In my opinion, money is one of the most important factors when you make a choice. There are highly paid jobs and low-paid jobs. For example, a businessman, a president or a film star, are highly paid jobs. A worker, a doctor or an engineer, are low-paid jobs. I think everybody wants to earn as much money as possible. Training, promotional prospects and conditions should be also taken into account.
On the other hand, it’s good when you get satisfaction from your job. It is very important to choose a profession that suits your interests. In my opinion, a job should be interesting and socially important. Some jobs are considered to be more suitable for men and others for women. For example, the professions of secretary or nurse are more suitable for women. A lifeguard or a pilot are more likely the jobs for men. You should also decide whether you want to work indoors or outdoors.
To make the right choice, you should take into account your traits of character. It goes without saying that to become a good doctor you must be patient, caring and kind. Teacher’s work requires love for children, profound knowledge of subjects, and the ability to explain. A secretary has to be efficient and careful in order to do her work quickly and accurately. Salespeople need to be friendly and persuasive, to get people buy their products.
There are so many people who influence us in choosing our occupation. Parents and friends play a very important role in our choices.
My father works for an international company as a managing director. It is a highly paid job and it offers a lot of opportunities. You can travel abroad and meet different people. My father is a friendly person and he is easy to talk to. He thinks that I must choose my future profession according to my taste and preferences. I respect him and I want to become a businessman, too.
I have always been interested in economics and I am good at Maths. I have an aptitude for working with people, and I think I’m rather communicative and have good social skills. I have good analytical abilities and I am good at problem-solving. Besides, I am good at English. English has become the standard language for all kinds of international business communications. To know English today is absolutely necessary for every businessman.
To become a successful businessman you should know a lot. So after finishing school I want to enter the university and to study marketing or management. Management deals mainly with people. A manager is a person who directly supervises people in an organization. Managers spend a great deal of time communicating, coordinating and making decisions affecting the daily operations of their organization. Almost everything, a manager does, involves decisions, and in decision-making there is always uncertainty and risk. So managing is a very interesting, but difficult, job.
Marketing deals with market research and commercial activity in general. It involves analyzing business situations, evaluating market opportunities, developing market strategies and controlling their implementation. It is important for a specialist in marketing to be flexible and prepared to make adjustments where necessary, as it is unlikely that any marketing plan will succeed exactly as planned.
I haven’t decided yet what to study. But I still have time to think and to choose.
When you leave school you understand that the time to choose your future profession, your future life has become. It’s not an easy to make the right choice of a job. I have known for long time that leaving school is the beginning of my independent life, the beginning of a far more serious examination of my abilities and character.
What do I want to be when I leave school? It’s very important question for me. A few years ago it was difficult for me to give a definite answer. As the years passed I changed my mind a lot of times about what science or field of industry to specialize in. It’s difficult to make up my mind and choose one of the hundreds jobs to which I might be better suited. A coupe of years ago I wanted to become a doctor, you know I wanted to help people who had problems with health. Then I wanted to become a policeman, then a spaceman, I even wanted to become a professional football player. But all of them now are in the past; they were like children’s dreams and nothing more. Now I have already decided what to do. I’d like to be an aviator. I know that it’s very difficult. I should know perfectly everything about the planes, airports, weather and other things. You know that the weather is very important thing for the flights too. I must be well educated and well informed. So that’s why at first I am going to go to the Aviation University in Moscow, then when I finish studding I’ll go to my country to try to get a job in the air companies. You know may be something will be not OK, because I don’t know what will happen tomorrow, but I know that I’ll do everything to realize my plane and my dreams.
I also want to say that the profession should be chosen according to the character and hobbies of the person. That’s why parents mustn’t make their children choose the thing they like (parents like). Children must do it themselves. Because they must love the thing they do, believe that people need them and their job will bring them more pleasure.

Тогда я хотел стать полицейским, то космонавтом, я даже хотел стать профессиональным футболистом.
Но все эти мысли сейчас находятся в прошлом, они были похожи на детские мечты и не более того. Теперь я уже решил, что делать. Я бы хотел быть летчиком. Я знаю, что это очень трудно. Я прекрасно знаю все о самолетах, аэропортах, погоде и других вещах. Вы знаете, что погода очень важная вещь для рейсов тоже. Я должен быть хорошо образован и хорошо информирован. Так вот почему сначала я собираюсь пойти в авиационный университет в Москве, потом, когда я закончу, я пойду в мою страну, чтобы попытаться устроиться на работу в авиакомпании.

Choosing a future career is one of the biggest problems for young people. It does not only depend on some preference or the teenager, but also on some other aspects such as salary, the job s requirements, and others. People start to think about a future job in their early years. But from their childhood, they change their opinions many times. But what is the reason for that?
The main reason is that the speed of change is accelerating rapidly and some jobs which were on the top of most demanding have become some of the most useless or underpaid. That is why some job areas which did well in the past now are doing badly.
As for me there are many vital aspects of choosing my future job. First, and the main reason for choosing my job, is salary. Of course it should give me a decent living wage. But this is not enough for me. I want also to get a job that can give me an opportunity to buy some luxuries, for example, designer clothes. Maybe my job can also give me some perks or benefits.
Then my job should be connected with my interests. They are: communicating with people, using foreign languages, doing some creative tasks, and others. I can`t stand doing menial tasks and running errands.
After that, I want to find a job in which I can realize my potential and move up the company ladder quickly. Maybe these prospects can be a guarantee of my future stability.
Last, but not the least reason, is a flexible schedule. I believe that I could crack the whip with other things, except the work. So I need to have the possibility to get away from work at any time.
Now I am thinking about being a manager. It is rather in demand nowadays, but there is a high turnover of staff in this area, so I should work hard and get a good university degree if I want to get to the top in this field. So I can say that salary, meeting my interests, moving up the corporate ladder, and a flexible schedule are what I am looking for in my future.

Для меня существует несколько жизненно важных аспектов в выборе моей будущей профессии.
Первый и самый важный — это зарплата. Конечно, она должна давать какой-то определенный прожиточный минимум. Но для меня этого недостаточно. Я также хочу иметь работу, которая может дать мне возможность покупать какую-нибудь роскошь, например дизайнерские вещи. Возможно, я также мечтаю о том, чтобы моя работаприносила мне какие-то вещевые награды.
Еще моя работа должна быть сопряжена с моими интересами. Это: общение с людьми, использование иностранных языков, выполнение каких-нибудь творческих заданий и т.п. Я терпеть не могу выполнение каких-либо мелких поручений.
Также я хочу найти работу, где я смогу реализовать свой потенциал и быстро подниматься вверх по карьерной лестнице. Возможно, эти проспекты будут гарантией моего стабильно будущего.
Последняя, но не самая незначительная причина-это гибкий рабочий график. Я думаю, что у меня будет много других забот, помимо работы, тогда у меня должна быть возможность уйти с работы в любое время.
Сейчас я думаю о том, чтобы стать менеджером. На сегодняшний день эта работа очень востребована, и сейчас очень большой поток работников в этой области, так что я должна много работать и иметь хорошие оценки, чтобы добиться чего-нибудь.
