  3. I can’t pretend to be a great idealist or moralist. Thus I like a number of sources of enjoyment- Yes pictures are there. I would lie to enjoy programmes on TV and sometimes of radio too. But I would not like to sit at the idiot box all the time. There are good pictures; I have no liking for the pictures having too much display of sex and violence. There are some good serials and U.G.C programmes on the TV set. I like them. News on the TV is just reflection of His Master’s Voice –praise of government programmes. I have no liking for this propaganda of plans on paper only. They don’t recreate me. They bore me.
I have a liking for poems written by great romantic poets like Keats, Shelley and Wordsworth. I have a liking for the modern couplets too. Materialism is all around us. So I want to be in a land of fancy with birds, rivers, seaside, the little babe, the blue sky, the green fields and the snow clad mountains. I wish to have their close company. As it is not always possible I take resort to the beautiful poems. I like to identify myself with many romantic characters of good plays and poems. I may not like to be a leech gatherer but I have liked him. I like some great tragic heroes like Hamlet and King Lear. Ah! I couldn’t be with them.
I have rather a dislike for a person who talks much about himself. A teacher shifting to his autobiographical pieces has never inspired me. Being my teacher, I just don’t want to use the word dislike for him. But I can use it for my friends and class-mates. I don’t like the people who suffer from sense of superiority complex. Naturally I don’t like a large number of leaders and Ministers who would sing songs of their praise.
I have no liking for a large number of so called religious dignitaries who make their Ashrams, Mosques or Church their fiefdom and exploit the people.
I, of course, dislike the fanatic and fundamentalists who have been killing innocent people anywhere in the world. It is just a pity that they kill people in India, in the region I like the most-the valley below the snow clad Himalayan peaks. I will have to be satisfied with standing at Kanyakumari looking at the Sun diving in the confluence of three oceans and bow to the grace of the Almighty.

  4. I really like listening to music, I like different types of music but I am crazy for electrionic music, my favorite DJ’s are Robin Schulz and Calvin Harris. I also like watching TV and movies. I like drama movies and sitcoms such as two and half men and the Bing Bang Theory. Sometimes I like to go out with my school friends. We go to the movie teather and the mall.
    Food
First, let’s talk about food and drinks. I don’t like fish very much, but I like meat. I really like fast food such as pizza, hamburgers and french fries but my favorite snacks are pizza and hamburgers. Pizza is delicious with coke, but I prefer lemonade and orange juice than coke.
I also like white coffee. I hate alcoholic drinks! When it comes to fruit. I really adore grapes, but pears are not my cup of tea. I like apples and I love oranges! I’m not a fan of vegetables, but my parents and teachers say they’re very important. I think they’re right. I really hate broccoli, but carrots are ok. I detest cucumber salad, but I like mixed salad I’m crazy for mushrooms, but I really don’t like onions.
    School Subjects
I love playing with my friends in the playground. I don’t like History very much and I hate Maths lessons! Anyway, I like Gym and Art, but I prefer Science because I’m crazy for animals. I really like Music and I love Portuguese lessons, but my favorite subject is English, of course!
And you? What are your likes and dislikes?

  6. Each person from childhood have their own dreams, they can be different: the real and the fantastic, but still dreams. To realize these dreams, we must make the long and hard way. One of the first major steps on this path is to determine the future profession. To make this choice, you need to remember one thing: there are no bad or boring occupations, and have the ability and willingness to engage in a particular business. Therefore, in such a serious matter, as the choice of profession, not to succumb to the influence of others, to choose a profession only for Mercantile interests. Aside from the financial interest, the profession needs to meet your inner world and intellectual queries. In my opinion, the profession of a scientist is interesting, unique, and I think her future. In the 21st century, the century of information and information technology, this profession is in demand more than ever and promising. Such a science, as a science, in my opinion, very interesting, and I realized that the strategist is the one profession that I would like to do in my life. This craft is universal, as it covers a wide range of knowledge, requires constant intellectual work and creativity in solving professional challenges. Sociable profession, develops a sense of confidence. The strategist is the person who helps shape policy and the policy that he seeks to carry out. Like any technology, political technology is also constantly evolving. So we need people who would help to shape it. In our country there is a process of formation of civil society, developing political culture, and political scientists contribute to all these processes. And politicians require professional support, from their image and ending with pursued their policy. Gone are the days of leaders who believed that in order to be a politician, «many do not». Irresponsible spending policies in our time is a crime against their own people and humanity as a whole. The lack of professionalism of the heads could trigger local conflicts that threaten to escalate into global. Therefore, policy should deal with competent and responsible people. And the strategists – those who can not just formulate policies but also to guide its policy in the right direction. Preparing to become a consultant, I’m trying to join my chosen profession: participate in the social life of the school and class, take part in various contests and virtual games with the social and political course. For example, in our school the election of President and mayors of classes. In addition, the school team I participated in city competition of leaders of children’s public associations leader of the 21st century. So, political science, political technology is something that have always fascinated me and determined my choice.

I’m going to do a Learning Unit and teach my 12-year-old students how to use verbs and phrases expressing likes and dislikes, for instance “love, like, hate, can’t stand, don’t/doesn’t mind” etc.
I’m aware the topic may be pretty difficult because “love, like and hate” can be followed by either the –ing form or the infinitive.
I’d like to make things easier for my kids. Any suggestions?
    Thank you very much.
    Ernesto
    Answer:
    Hi Ernesto,
The following is taken from Gerunds and Infinitives.
The basic difference between gerunds and infinitives is the following:
Using a gerund suggests that you are referring to real activities or experiences.
Using an infinitive suggests that you are talking about potential or possible activities or experiences.
So let’s say you eat ice cream every day. This is an actual action you are doing. Then you could say, “I like eating ice cream.”
On the other hand, if you are on a diet, and you don’t usually eat ice cream, then you are talking about a potential action. You could say, “I like to eat ice cream.”
Does it describe a concrete action? Then you could use a gerund.
Does it describe a general or potential action? Then you could use an infinitive.
    Examples:
“As a painter, I truly love painting.”
“I love to paint. I wish I would paint more often.”
