  1. I live in the outskirts of Moscow in a block of flats. It is a grey 12-storey building. Our flat is on the second floor. I live with my parents, my little sister and a dog, Lucky by name. It is a three bedroom flat, rather comfortable. It faces south, so it is often sunny and light. I like the place where I live. In my neighbourhood you can find everything you need: a supermarket, a hospital, two cinema houses, several schools and kindergartens, a fitness centre and 2 libraries. Everything is quite close to me and easy to reach. Help is always at hand! The transport system is rather developed in my district. But sometimes public transport does not come on time. Usually it takes me about 45-50 minutes to get here from the centre of Moscow by underground. It is a bit far, I would say. What is more, the traffic is heavy in the rush hours and we lack parking places. Also there is no park to take my dog for a walk. Unfortunately all my friends live downtown, so we can meet only at weekends. IT is a new district, there are no buildings of historical or architectural interest .
-Would you like to move to another district of Moscow?
-What do you think is needed to improve the climate in your neighbourhood?
    Act out a dialogue.
Imagine you meet a passer-by who wants to get to the centre of Moscow. Explain him how to get there from your house. Ask him what place he needs, when he has to be there.

” Home is where the heart is.”

  2. MY NEIGHBOURS
Neighbours are those people who stay near my home. Most of my neighbours are come from many different countries. To the right side of my home is the home of the Kiangs. To the left side is the home of the Lams, and in the front is the home of the Grants. When my family arrived in their community, I used to think that they were best friend of my family. After living in this neighborhood for five years, I have to realize that my neighbors can be described in three specific groups: those who concentrate on study; those who deal with creative ventures and those who organize, systematic, and understandable.
The first group in my neighbours tends to concentrate on study these proper. An example of this type of neighbors is child psychology and preschool education. Mr. Kiang is my neighbor and known to my family ever since we have shifted to our present home, about five years ago. He arrived from Frank in 1960. He has become nationally recognized for his contributions in the fields of pre-school education and parent teacher relationships. His voice is not just of the immigrant South Asian community but also of an immigrant community of the millions who have stayed in ancestral culture. His pleasure is derived from helping those who need help. He can paint, white wash, mow the lawn, trim the plants, wash clothes and do carpentry. He is a good Christian and seldom misses his Sunday church attendance. He is called by the people in the neighborhood, the second “Rip-van- winkle.” A good Samaritan, indeed, he is.
The second group of good neighbour is those who deal with creative ventures. Mr. Lam is the most the opposite of Mr. Kiang. He arrived from China in 1962. He is found in artsy creative at the university of Chungchi. When he came in new place, he expresses identical views in politics, social issue, love, and marriage in the same C…

  3. I was born on the 3rd of July 1990 in Moscow. Like many other children I went to a kindergarten. At the age of 6 I went to school. My school was next to my house. Many pupils of our primary school were my neighbours. I was very proud when I became a pupil.
But very soon I realized that this was not a game, and I had to work hard if I wanted my parents to be pleased with me. Now, when the school years have passed so quickly I see clearly that sometimes I succeeded and sometimes I failed in my intention.
I am an outgoing person. I think I took after my father. As a matter of fact my parents are friendly and hospitable. They like to invite our friends and neighbours.
I like to go to discos, to parties with my friends. We like to dance, have coffee and soft drinks. I like when somebody plays the guitar or the piano. But I myself don’t play any musical instrument. Certainly we talk a lot about life, our problems. But now I cant afford to spend much time for entertainment.
Sometimes I like to stay home alone, especially when I need some relaxation. Then I listen to music, watch television or read books. 1 am fond of reading. I prefer historical novels. Some detective stories are very interesting too. It is considered that detective stories can t be regarded as the real literature. I don’t agree with this. Everything depends on the skill and gift of the writer.
I don’t go in for sport regularly. But if I have a possibility, I go to the swimming pool. I also like to play different ball games such as volleyball, basketball.
I am a school leaver now. I have good marks. I am going to enter the university. Our teachers say I am good at Literature. It seems to me that in fact I have some attitude for it.
My parents think that after graduating from the university it will be difficult to find a job I’ll be trained for. But as for me it’s early to discuss this question. The most important thing now is to pass the entrance exams well and to enter the university.
