Our planet is not the only one in the universe but is supposedly the only one which is inhabited by living creatures. We have all the necessary resources to live a happy life: clean water, fresh air, good nature, eatable plants. However, during the last century most scientists are worried that nature is under danger. Thus, people and all the living creatures that surround us are also endangered. The water in the global ocean is not so clean any more due to human reckless actions. Many useful plants are being cut down for creating newer industrial areas. Some animal species are disappearing from the surface of the Earth and that’s sorrowful. Knowing this, people from all the existing countries should remember that we are rather fragile. The human race can easily vanish leading such a reckless and carefree life. That’s why certain groups of intelligent people build new eco-towns with vast green space, zero carbon, car-free zones, pedestrian and cycle-friendly areas, recycling facilities and many other environmentally friendly goods. Other than that, lots of work is done to make housing in such towns or settlements affordable. I would also like to add some facts about our planet and its features. First of all, it is proven that it’s the third planet from the Sun. Another interesting fact is that the Earth is the only planet which is not named after ancient gods or goddesses. At the moment there are seven other planets in the solar system besides the Earth. For example, Mars, Venus, Jupiter, Saturn. We always polluted our surroundings. But until now pollution was not such a huge problem. People lived in the countryside and couldn’t produce such amount of pollution that would lead to a dangerous situation on a global scale.
With the development of industrial cities, which create huge amounts of pollutants, the problem has become real. Nowadays our planet is in serious danger. Global warming, acid rains, air and water pollution, overpopulation are the problems that threaten human lives on the Earth.
Every year world industry pollutes the air that we breathe with. A great number of cities suffer from smog. Rainforests are cut down. Their disappearance upsets the oxygen balance. As a result, some rare species of animals, birds, fish and plants are extinct. A lot of seas, rivers and lakes are filled with poison like industrial and nuclear wastes, chemical fertilizers and pesticides. The pollution of air and the world’s ocean, destruction of the ozone layer is the result of man’s careless interaction with nature, a sign of the ecological crisis.
People should consider their attitude to the environment. Some progress has already been made in this direction. Numerous conferences have been held by a lot of agencies to discuss problems facing ecologically poor regions including the Aral Sea, the South Urals, Kuzbass, Donbass and Chernobyl. Greenpeace is also doing much to preserve the environment.
What can we do to save our planet? First of all, people should switch to alternative forms of power, such as solar power or wind power. Secondly, the use of atomic power must be banned. Thirdly, we need to recycle. It’s the art of turning waste into new products. It would be a good idea if people started riding bicycles instead of driving cars. We are obliged to protect nature. If everybody cares, it will make a difference.

The Aral Sea is on the brink of extinction. If nothing is done about it, one day nothing will be able to live in the seas.
Every ten minutes one kind of animal, plant or insect dies out for ever. If nothing is done about it, one million species that are alive today may soon become extinct.
Air pollution is another serious problem. In Cairo just breathing the air is dangerous — equivalent to smoking two packs of cigarettes a day. The same holds true for many Russian cities. Factories emit tons of harmful chemicals. These emissions have disastrous consequences for our planet. They are the main reason for the greenhouse effect and acid rains. An even greater threat are nuclear power stations. We all know how tragic the consequences of the Chernobyl disaster are.
Fortunately, it’s not too late to solve these problems. We have the time, the money and even the technology to make our planet a better, cleaner and safer place. We can plant trees and create parks for endangered species. We can recycle litter. We can support green parties and put pressure on those in power. Together we can save the planet and all of us with it.

К счастью, еще не слишком поздно, чтобы решить эти проблемы. У нас есть время, деньги и даже технологии для того, чтобы сделать нашу планету лучше, чище и безопаснее. Мы можем посадить деревья и создать парки для вымирающих видов. Мы можем утилизировать мусор. Мы можем поддерживать партии зеленых в их давлении на власть имущих. Вместе мы сможем спасти планету и всех нас с нею.

I really like travelling with my parents, especially by car. I like preparing for journey, planning route. I like the feel of excitement and feel of how huge our world is. So, in 2012 when I was preparing for our tour to Odessa, Ukraine, the civil war started and my preparations became useless. Then I’ve been to Jerusalem, and there I felt how tight our world is. I was surprised of how close to this point have converged such countries as Iran, Iraq, Syria, Turkey and Egypt. And how they can live together in such proximity.
Not much time ago Turkish military forces shot down Russian aircraft near their border, and it seemed to me that I felt the cold breath of starting war, my parents were very worried about the situation. And I couldn’t understand why had Turks done this? Why does war in the Ukraine still last? Why did the Syrian war start? Why are wars happening if they brings only death and destruction for everyone, especially for civilians like me. I was very excited when I could fly to Turkey and relax at the hotel, swim in the sea and enjoy the bright hot sun. But now I couldn’t because of relationship between our countries, which became worse after the Turks shot down our aircraft. Who needs it? Our government doesn’t think about ordinary people. Turkish hotels suffer material losses, Russian people can’t enjoy nice climate. Who wins in this situation? Nobody. And it’s just one example of similar events, which periodically happens in our world.
Then I was thinking a lot about relationship of people from different countries. How they act when countries where they live have confrontations of interests and even conflicts. I think, in situations like this, people should not listen to propaganda and prevent different attempts to set us against people of other country or nationality. To prevent their fear or aggressiveness we should know them more. We should respect them, their traditions and lifestyle, communicate with them manually to understand them and their attitude to happening events. Only by listening to our own heart and mind we could prevent aggressiveness, conflicts and wars. We want to live in peace, be happy and healthy.

The Aral Sea is on the brink of extinction. If nothing is done about it, one day nothing will be able to live in the seas.
Every ten minutes one kind of animal, plant or insect dies out for ever. If nothing is done about it, one million species that are alive today may soon become extinct.
Air pollution is another serious problem. In Cairo just breathing the air is dangerous — equivalent to smoking two packs of cigarettes a day. The same holds true for many Russian cities. Factories emit tons of harmful chemicals. These emissions have disastrous consequences for our planet. They are the main reason for the greenhouse effect and acid rains. An even greater threat are nuclear power stations. We all know how tragic the consequences of the Chernobyl disaster are.
Fortunately, it’s not too late to solve these problems. We have the time, the money and even the technology to make our planet a better, cleaner and safer place. We can plant trees and create parks for endangered species. We can recycle litter. We can support green parties and put pressure on those in power. Together we can save the planet and all of us with it.

Планета Земля лишь малая часть Вселенной, но это единственное место, где человеческие существа могут жить.
В настоящее время наша планета находится в серьезной опасности. Кислотные дожди, глобальное потепление, загрязнение воздуха и воды, перенаселенность – это проблемы, которые угрожают жизни человека на Земле.
Кто виноват в катастрофе? Ответ прост: мы все. Наши леса исчезают, потому что они вырубаются или сжигаются. Если эта тенденция сохранится, то в один прекрасный день у нас не будет достаточно кислорода, чтобы дышать.
Моря находятся в опасности. Они заполнены ядом: индустриальные и ядерные отходы, химические удобрения и пестициды. Средиземноморье уже почти мертво; Северное море следующее. Аральское море находится на грани вымирания. Если ничего не делать, однажды ничего не сможет жить в открытом море.
Каждые десять минут один вид животных, растений или насекомых умирает навсегда. Если ничего не делать, то 1 млн видов, которые живы сегодня, могут исчезнуть очень скоро.
Загрязнение воздуха является еще одной серьезной проблемой. В Каире даже дышать воздухом опасно – это эквивалентно курению двух пачек сигарет в день. То же самое верно и для многих городов России. Фабрики испускают тонны вредных химических веществ. Эта эмиссия имеет бедственные последствия для нашей планеты. Они являются основной причиной парникового эффекта и кислотных дождей. Еще большей угрозой, являются атомные электростанции. Мы все знаем о трагических последствиях Чернобыльской катастрофы.
К счастью, еще не слишком поздно, чтобы решить эти проблемы. У нас есть время, деньги и даже технологии для того, чтобы сделать нашу планету лучше, чище и безопаснее. Мы можем посадить деревья и создать парки для вымирающих видов. Мы можем утилизировать мусор. Мы можем поддерживать партии зеленых в их давлении на власть имущих. Вместе мы сможем спасти планету и всех нас с нею.

Peace on Earth depends from us
We can only change the world by changing men.

I really like travelling with my parents, especially by car. I like preparing for journey, planning route. I like the feel of excitement and feel of how huge our world is. So, in 2012 when I was preparing for our tour to Odessa, Ukraine, the civil war started and my preparations became useless. Then I’ve been to Jerusalem, and there I felt how tight our world is. I was surprised of how close to this point have converged such countries as Iran, Iraq, Syria, Turkey and Egypt. And how they can live together in such proximity.
Not much time ago Turkish military forces shot down Russian aircraft near their border, and it seemed to me that I felt the cold breath of starting war, my parents were very worried about the situation. And I couldn’t understand why had Turks done this? Why does war in the Ukraine still last? Why did the Syrian war start? Why are wars happening if they brings only death and destruction for everyone, especially for civilians like me. I was very excited when I could fly to Turkey and relax at the hotel, swim in the sea and enjoy the bright hot sun. But now I couldn’t because of relationship between our countries, which became worse after the Turks shot down our aircraft. Who needs it? Our government doesn’t think about ordinary people. Turkish hotels suffer material losses, Russian people can’t enjoy nice climate. Who wins in this situation? Nobody. And it’s just one example of similar events, which periodically happens in our world.
Then I was thinking a lot about relationship of people from different countries. How they act when countries where they live have confrontations of interests and even conflicts. I think, in situations like this, people should not listen to propaganda and prevent different attempts to set us against people of other country or nationality. To prevent their fear or aggressiveness we should know them more. We should respect them, their traditions and lifestyle, communicate with them manually to understand them and their attitude to happening events. Only by listening to our own heart and mind we could prevent aggressiveness, conflicts and wars. We want to live in peace, be happy and healthy.
