In recent years the number of environmental problems has increased greatly. One of the most dangerous problems for our planet is global warming which means that most climates all over the world are changing and getting warmer. It happens because we burn too much petrol resources, such as oil and coal, and the Earth heats up. This process can cause melting of the polar ice and the sea level rising in the future. If the climate changes there will be floods, heavy storms or severe droughts in different areas of the world. Cutting down on exhaust fumes from vehicles could help solve this serious problem.
Our planet is overpopulated, that’s why we are using up our natural resources – they are not endless. So the scientists have started looking for some alternate forms of energy such as water, wind, sunlight and even tides. These resources are clean, natural and unlimited. I’m glad that modern automobile industries make hybrids which use electric or solar energy instead of petrol. It would definitely help protect our environment from pollution.

Nowadays the high development of the industry leads to the inevitable pollution of the environment all over the world. First of all, it has a negative effect on the hydrosphere because, anyway, waste water falls into a reservoir or go into the ground water through the soil.

The problem of water pollution is a global one. So it considerably complicates the ways of its solution, because different countries have to cooperate in solving such problems. However there are some problems connected with such cooperation. For example, the Mediterranean Sea is the most polluted sea in the world, perhaps, because there are 22 different countries with coastlines on the Mediterranean Sea. There is a similar problem connected with the Atlantic Ocean. There is a huge number of countries using it for the transportation of goods. So it somehow pollutes the ocean. One of the main sources of this type of pollution is industry. Numerous factories and plants release into the atmosphere a lot of waste such as poisonous chemicals and, what is worse, particles of heavy metals. This process not only produces harmful effects on the atmosphere, but influences man’s health as well. People are suffering from lung diseases more and more often or have headaches, breathing such polluted air.
Waste
Waste, created by people may occur in the form of gases or particles of solid and liquid matter which appear as a result of burning fossil fuels. Burning of garbage also contributes to the problem.
Means of transport
One more dramatic thing is an increasing number of cars and other means of transport as their fumes penetrate into the atmosphere and destroy the ozone layer which protects the Earth from the dangerous light of the Sun.
Acid rain
There is also a close connection between air and water pollution. Please pay attention to acid rain. It happens when sulphur and nitrogen compounds mix with moisture of the air and fall to Earth in rain or snow. After that acid water flows into rivers and lakes, which become so polluted that no fish or plants can survive.

In recent years the number of environmental problems has increased greatly. One of the most dangerous problems for our planet is global warming which means that most climates all over the world are changing and getting warmer. It happens because we burn too much petrol resources, such as oil and coal, and the Earth heats up. This process can cause melting of the polar ice and the sea level rising in the future. If the climate changes there will be floods, heavy storms or severe droughts in different areas of the world. Cutting down on exhaust fumes from vehicles could help solve this serious problem.
Our planet is overpopulated, that’s why we are using up our natural resources – they are not endless. So the scientists have started looking for some alternate forms of energy such as water, wind, sunlight and even tides. These resources are clean, natural and unlimited. I’m glad that modern automobile industries make hybrids which use electric or solar energy instead of petrol. It would definitely help protect our environment from pollution.
There are different kinds of environmental pollution: air pollution, water pollution, land pollution. Sadly, not all human beings realize or admit that we are the ones who cause these problems and we should be the first to stop them and protect our environment. People have always polluted their surroundings. But until now pollution was not such a serious problem. People lived in uncrowded rural areas and did not have pollution — causing machines. With the development of crowded industrial cities which put huge amounts of pollutants into small areas, the problem has become more important.
Automobiles and other new inventions make pollution steadily worse. Since the late 1960’s people have become alarmed with the danger of pollution.
Air, water, and soil are necessary for existence of all living things. But polluted air can cause illness, and even death. Polluted water kills fish and other marine life. On polluted soil, food can not be grown. In addition environmental pollution spoils the natural beauty of our planet.
Pollution is as complicated as serious problem. Automobiles are polluting the air but they provide transportation for the people. Factories pollute the air and the water but they provide jobs for people and produce necessary goods. Fertilizers and pesticides are important for growing crops but they can ruin soil.
Thus, people would have to stop using many useful things if they wanted to end pollution immediately. Most people do not want that of course. But pollution can be reduced gradually.
Scientists and engineers can find the ways to reduce pollution from automobiles and factories. Government can pass the laws that would make enterprises take measures for reducing of pollution. Individuals and groups of people can work together to persuade enterprises to stop polluting activities.

Истощение озонового слоя
Озоновый слой защищает нашу планету от вредных солнечных лучей. Вследствие выброса в атмосферу так называемых фреонов, озоновый слой истончается. Из-за этого в озоновом слое появляются дыры.
В настоящее время, фреоны практически не используются в производстве. Однако стоит помнить, что если эта проблема не будет взята под контроль, вредные солнечные лучи смогут беспрепятственно проникать в атмосферу. Крупнейшая озоновая дыра находится над Антарктидой.

Nowadays the high development of the industry leads to the inevitable pollution of the environment all over the world. First of all, it has a negative effect on the hydrosphere because, anyway, waste water falls into a reservoir or go into the ground water through the soil.

The problem of water pollution is a global one. So it considerably complicates the ways of its solution, because different countries have to cooperate in solving such problems. However there are some problems connected with such cooperation. For example, the Mediterranean Sea is the most polluted sea in the world, perhaps, because there are 22 different countries with coastlines on the Mediterranean Sea. There is a similar problem connected with the Atlantic Ocean. There is a huge number of countries using it for the transportation of goods. So it somehow pollutes the ocean. It should be mentioned that the oil industry have a negative effect on the hydrosphere.

The common problem is the pollution of fresh water. People must understand that polluted drinking water is not only dangerous for people’s health and the environment, but also causes economic problems, because purification of it requires a lot of money.

The most horrible ecological disaster befell Ukraine after the Chernobyl tragedy in April 1986. A great damage has been done to people’s health, the agriculture and forests. The consequences of this explosion at the atomic power-station are tragic for both the Ukrainians and other nations.
The problem of environmental pollution is rather complicated and serious. Automobiles pollute the air but they provide transportation for people. Enterprises pollute the air and the water but they provide jobs for people and produce necessary goods. Therefore, the protection of the environment should be approached comprehensively.
The protection of the environment requires the cooperation of all nations. Nowadays government of many countries and the international organizations, like Greenpeace, Green Cross International and Friends of Earth, use direct actions to stop the destruction of the natural environment.
