twinkled, and his usually pale face was flushed and animated. The
fire burned brightly, and the soft radiance of the incandescent
lights in the lilies of silver caught the bubbles that flashed and
passed in our glasses. Our chairs, being his patents, embraced and
caressed us rather than submitted to be sat upon, and there was that
luxurious after-dinner atmosphere when thought roams gracefully
free of the trammels of precision. And he put it to us in this
way — marking the points with a lean forefinger — as we sat and lazily
admired his earnestness over this new paradox (as we thought it)

‘You must follow me carefully. I shall have to controvert one or two
ideas that are almost universally accepted. The geometry, for
instance, they taught you at school is founded on a misconception.’
‘Is not that rather a large thing to expect us to begin upon?’ said
Filby, an argumentative person with red hair.
‘I do not mean to ask you to accept anything without reasonable
ground for it. You will soon admit as much as I need from you. You
know of course that a mathematical line, a line of thickness _nil_,
has no real existence. They taught you that? Neither has a
mathematical plane. These things are mere abstractions.’
‘That is all right,’ said the Psychologist.
‘Nor, having only length, breadth, and thickness, can a cube have a
real existence.’
‘There I object,’ said Filby. ‘Of course a solid body may exist. All
real things — ‘
‘So most people think. But wait a moment. Can an _instantaneous_
cube exist?’
‘Don’t follow you,’ said Filby.
‘Can a cube that does not last for any time at all, have a real
existence?’
Filby became pensive. ‘Clearly,’ the Time Traveller proceeded, ‘any
real body must have extension in _four_ directions: it must have
Length, Breadth, Thickness, and — Duration. But through a natural
infirmity of the flesh, which I will explain to you in a moment, we
incline to overlook this fact. There are really four dimensions,
three which we call the three planes of Space, and a fourth, Time.
There is, however, a tendency to draw an unreal distinction between
the former three dimensions and the latter, because it happens that
our consciousness moves intermittently in one direction along the
latter from the beginning to the end of our lives.’
‘That,’ said a very young man, making spasmodic efforts to relight
his cigar over the lamp; ‘that … very clear indeed.’
‘Now, it is very remarkable that this is so extensively overlooked,’
continued the Time Traveller, with a slight accession of
cheerfulness. ‘Really this is what is meant by the Fourth Dimension,
though some people who talk about the Fourth Dimension do not know
they mean it. It is only another way of looking at Time. _There is
no difference between Time and any of the three dimensions of Space
except that our consciousness moves along it_. But some foolish

For me, I like to go to the supermarket once per week and normally buy many foods at one time. Can you imagine that I need to carry a lot of foodstuff and maybe take a crowded bus to reach home? How inconvenient it is! Suppose that I have a car, and then I will feel very easy because what I need to do is to put all my stuff at the back of the car.
On the other hand, automobiles can save our time and energy. Driving the automobile, we can go wherever we want to go. We can reach the destination faster than other transportation means. We can use the saved hours to enjoy the views or do anything that we want. After all, time means a lot to modern people. It can mean money to businessmen, knowledge to school students and profit to companies. By means of cutting time with the help of automobiles, we can increase the efficiency of our society.
Of course, I must admit that automobiles bring a lot of problems such as traffic jam and air pollution. But these outcomes cannot be avoided during the development of a society. I believe we will have a better solution to solve all these problems soon .
Generally speaking, I would like to say automobiles have improved modern life through providing more convenience to people and increasing efficiency. We should encourage the society to support the automobile industry and develop different kinds of automobiles to meet various needs. Перевод:

For example, if you need to get to some place fast you can choose a plane. However many people are afraid of flights. It is possible to choose a train though it takes more time to get somewhere.

One more problem connected with such travel is that the driver needs a rest during the road trip, especially, if it takes much time. Besides, it is dangerous to travel by car because of the possibility of an accident.

There is no doubt, that transport plays a significant role in our everyday life. In the 17th and 18th centuries, the majority of people have never dared to think and dream about traveling farther than a few miles. A great bulk of humans, wherever they would like to go, had to reach their destinations on horseback or by carriage. Nowadays, nobody is able to imagine our modern world without different means of transport. Hundreds and thousands of people travel every day either on business or simply for pleasure. These humans have a possibility to travel by air, rails, road or by sea. Unfortunately, if supplies of oil run out in the nearest future, it will be pretty much impossible to do.
So, what will transport be like then? In any case, this topic is utterly disputable though curious. To my mind, human beings will have to tackle this obstacle by using an electric engine, for instance, and by implementing sophisticated technology, which is based on alternative energy sources. It includes wind, ocean, solar, geothermal and bio energy. It gives an opportunity to evolve compact vehicles that don’t damage the ecology of the planet. Anyway, there is no point to use vestiges of the past and rely on that old transportation forms, because they don’t meet the requirements of humanity in general.
Frankly speaking, in conclusion, I could admit, there is probably no clear–cut answer to this question, ’cause there is a variety of choices and options. Nonetheless, everyone could agree, those future ways of transportation depend on many factors like government, the welfare of one particular nation, development level etc. So many men, so many minds. Our future is a great mystery and nobody knows what will be tomorrow.

Это позволяет создавать малогабаритные транспортные средства, которые не наносят ущерб экологии планеты. Since the first automobile was introduced to our life, we can notice that there are a lot of changes happened around us. As a modern transportation, it not only brings convenience to our daily life, but also enhances the efficiency.
One of advantages of using automobiles is that it can give the users much more convenience compared with other transportations, such as bikes or buss. For me, I like to go to the supermarket once per week and normally buy many foods at one time. Can you imagine that I need to carry a lot of foodstuff and maybe take a crowded bus to reach home? How inconvenient it is! Suppose that I have a car, and then I will feel very easy because what I need to do is to put all my stuff at the back of the car.
On the other hand, automobiles can save our time and energy. Driving the automobile, we can go wherever we want to go. We can reach the destination faster than other transportation means. We can use the saved hours to enjoy the views or do anything that we want. After all, time means a lot to modern people. It can mean money to businessmen, knowledge to school students and profit to companies. By means of cutting time with the help of automobiles, we can increase the efficiency of our society.
Of course, I must admit that automobiles bring a lot of problems such as traffic jam and air pollution. But these outcomes cannot be avoided during the development of a society. I believe we will have a better solution to solve all these problems soon .
Generally speaking, I would like to say automobiles have improved modern life through providing more convenience to people and increasing efficiency. We should encourage the society to support the automobile industry and develop different kinds of automobiles to meet various needs.

Travelling, people discover many interesting and fascinating things and meet new people. Nowadays we have many opportunities to travel. Everyone chooses the way of travelling which he or she prefers. For example, if you need to get to some place fast you can choose a plane. However many people are afraid of flights. It is possible to choose a train though it takes more time to get somewhere.

One more way to travel is to travel by car. Many people like it because it can be cheaper than plane or train. Of course there are some disadvantages. There are places where you cannot get to by car. For example, if you live in Europe and need to go to America you obviously cannot go there by car. One more problem connected with such travel is that the driver needs a rest during the road trip, especially, if it takes much time. Besides, it is dangerous to travel by car because of the possibility of an accident.

However there are also advantages of such travel. If you are not a driver, you will see many places. Besides, travelling by car you feel free and it improves the mood. You do not depend on the schedule, as when you travel by plane or by train, for example, so you will not be late. You can stop where you like and after that continue the journey.

There is no doubt, that transport plays a significant role in our everyday life. In the 17th and 18th centuries, the majority of people have never dared to think and dream about traveling farther than a few miles. A great bulk of humans, wherever they would like to go, had to reach their destinations on horseback or by carriage. Nowadays, nobody is able to imagine our modern world without different means of transport. Hundreds and thousands of people travel every day either on business or simply for pleasure. These humans have a possibility to travel by air, rails, road or by sea. Unfortunately, if supplies of oil run out in the nearest future, it will be pretty much impossible to do.
So, what will transport be like then? In any case, this topic is utterly disputable though curious. To my mind, human beings will have to tackle this obstacle by using an electric engine, for instance, and by implementing sophisticated technology, which is based on alternative energy sources. It includes wind, ocean, solar, geothermal and bio energy. It gives an opportunity to evolve compact vehicles that don’t damage the ecology of the planet. Anyway, there is no point to use vestiges of the past and rely on that old transportation forms, because they don’t meet the requirements of humanity in general.
Frankly speaking, in conclusion, I could admit, there is probably no clear–cut answer to this question, ’cause there is a variety of choices and options. Nonetheless, everyone could agree, those future ways of transportation depend on many factors like government, the welfare of one particular nation, development level etc. So many men, so many minds. Our future is a great mystery and nobody knows what will be tomorrow.

Большая часть людей, куда бы они не направлялись, вынуждены были добираться до места назначения верхом на лошади или в карете. В настоящее время никто не может представить наш современный мир без различных транспортных средств. Сотни и тысячи людей путешествуют каждый день из–за работы или просто для удовольствия. У этих людей имеется возможность путешествовать на самолете, поезде, машине или морем. К сожалению, если запасы нефти истекут в ближайшем будущем, то это окажется практически невозможным.
Итак, что же будет с транспортом? В любом случае, эта тема обсуждения является спорной, хотя и любопытной. На мой взгляд, людям придется преодолевать это препятствие, используя, например, электрический двигатель и внедряя передовые технологии, основанные на альтернативных источниках энергии. Они включают в себя: энергию океана, энергию ветра, солнечную энергию, геотермальную энергию и биоэнергию. Это позволяет создавать малогабаритные транспортные средства, которые не наносят ущерб экологии планеты. Во всяком случае, нет смысла использовать пережитки прошлого и полагаться на старые транспортные средства, потому что они не отвечают требованиям человечества в целом.
Честно говоря, в заключение я могла бы признать, что, вероятно, нет однозначного ответа на вопрос, потому что существует множество альтернатив и вариантов.
