Reading has been an effective tool to discover the life for many centuries. Books can be your guide to living, can develop your understanding of the world around and are also one of the most popular leisure time activities of all.
As for me, I discovered the wonderful world of reading when I was 10. I had read several books before but the book I was presented for my tenth birthday changed my attitude to reading and I started doing it for pleasure. I still remember this story in all details and treat it as my favourite one.
The title of this book is “Five go to Smuggler’s Top” and it is written by Enid Blyton, a famous British writer who wrote series of adventure books for children. My favourite book belongs to one of the most well-known series “The famous five” and tells about the adventures of four children and their faithful dog.
The main characters of the book are siblings Julian, Dick and Ann and their cousin George who is actually a girl whose full name is Georgina. She is my favourite character of this book because of her extremely interesting personality and identity. She has a dog called Timmy who plays an important role in this story. The adventures of these children begin as soon as they arrive to live in Mr. Lenoir’s house. There they meet Mr. Lenoir’s son Sooty who quickly becomes their friend. The key point is that Timmy is not allowed to live in this house so the children have to keep him secretly in the tunnels beneath the house. Using these tunnels to walk Timmy they find out the mystery of smugglers and their criminal activity.
I find this book really fascinating. It keeps your attention from the first page and it’s difficult to predict what is going to happen next. It’s especially interesting to understand who is who and find out the criminals in the end. The children get into troubles constantly and you’re worried about them all the time. I recommend reading this book to all teenagers who are keen on such kind of literature. It is going to blow you away.

I have many favourite books but the most favourite one is the book “The Count of Monte Cristo” written by French author Alexandre Dumas in 1844. It is an adventure novel and one of the most popular works of Alexandre Dumas.

When I read this book for the first time, I completely agreed with all actions of Dantes. Then I was only 16 years old. However many years later I read this book one more time. And as an adult I would say that sometimes the revenge of Dantes was too severe. I changed my point of view concerning many problems raised in the book.

My favourite book
It’s impossible to be an educated person without good books. Most of the books are to be read just once, others can be read plenty of times. And each time you find something new and useful as you turn the same pages of your favourite books. I am fond of books about adventures and great people, detective stories and science fiction. I enjoy reading them when I have spare time.
But my favorite book of all times is a novel “Three comrades” written by a German writer Erich Maria Remarque. This book was recommended to me by my elder sister and I’m grateful to her for that advice. It was really worth reading.
“Three comrades” is a book about love and friendship of three common people (Robert, Otto and Gottfried) who lived in Germany between the two World wars. The main characters are real friends who struggle together with poverty and violence and they manage to preserve their dignity and humanity. The story of beautiful and tragic love between Robert and Pat is heart-breaking because the girl dies of tuberculosis.
I find the book very powerful and deeply moving. It teaches people to find the inner strength to live in a tough world. It often helps me when I find myself in a difficult situation and I need an answer to some question. It is my great friend and teacher.

I like to read very much. I read every day in the evening. I usually read adventure stories. But sometimes I also read historic books. One of my favourite books is about Tom Soyer. The author of the story is Mark Twain. He wrote this book in 1876. But it is still interesting for children and for me. The story is about one boy Tom. He lives in his aunt’s house and he doesn’t like to stay at home. He is very smart, because he always has a lot of brilliant ideas. Tom is very curious too. He wants to know about everything in the village. One day Tom gets into trouble. He is afraid of one man. So he runs away. But at the end of the story he comes back home. And everybody is happy! And there is a story of that kind I am eager to read over and over again. Its name is “Harry Potter.” The story was written by a popular British writer J. K. Rowling. And it tells us about a little boy Harry who lives in a family of his aunt. One day he finds out that he is a wizard and should go to study to a school of magic — Hogwarts. And that’s where the story begins. In the following 7 parts we get to know what a great wizard Harry is. He meets new friends, studies, does sport and conquer the most evil magician in the world. These books teach how to be friendly, loyal and strong. They show us how to face difficulties and how important a family and friends are. I love this book for all of this. I read always everything and everywhere. If you ask any of my friends about my hobby, everyone will tell you how much I like to read. For me there is no difference between novel, detective or historical books. There was a period when I read only psychological literature or some horror stories. But in general I like to read a lot. This love came to me because of my grandparents. They were reading fairytales for me when I was a child and now I read and share my opinion with them about the last books.
Speaking about different kind of literature I honestly prefer classical literature. There are some good books of modern literature as well. But normally I don’t feel desire to read it over again. Classical literature is completely different. Especially I like Russian classics. I read everything according my school program and sometimes I ask a teacher: what else can I read. They also know about my passion.
It’s difficult to say what is my favorite book, because many of them have changed my ideas, vision and opinion about some things. My favorite writers are Dostievskii, Gogol, Bulgakov, Turgenev, Nabokov, Chekhov, Bunin. I think their books I can read over and over again. The last book that impressed me a lot is “Master and Margharita” by Bulgakov. When I finished to read I was really sorry, that I hadn’t read it earlier. Somebody says that there is nothing special there, just another crazy story. But for me it is a very good example there is good and bad in our world. And unfortunately very often we can not make the right decision from the first time. We trust and love the wrong people but don’t pay attention on those who loves us. Maybe the story is little bit crazy, but I like it a lot.
Another book that I love so much is “The picture of Dorian Gray” by Oscar Wilde. It is a philosophical novel. I advised this book to all my friends. It’s a mystical story that happens to a young man. All his life he was attractive, charming, handsome and young. But he had a secret that could destroyed all this beautiful life. The moral for me is: we have to appreciate every moment and rely only on ourselves. Our life can finish very fast on the moment when we are happy.
The role of books in our life
First of all, I would like to say a few words about the role of books in our life. I think books are our best friends. While reading we have an opportunity to look into the future or into the past. Books form our values and character. Besides, they help us in self-education. What is more important, books teach us to be kind, hard-working, brave and honest and to understand each other better.
My favourite book
I’m really fond of reading. Whenever I have got free time I spend it with a book. There are a lot of famous writers in the world known for their wonderful books but my favourite one is “Oliver Twist” written by Charles Dickens in 1838. This is a very sad story with a happy end though. In his novel Dickens wrote about poverty and an unromantic criminal world. The book also exposed the cruelty with which poor children were treated in London at that time.
Content of the novel
It tells us about an orphan who was born into a life of poverty and misfortune. He came across lots of terrible events in the early years of his life and it can be stated that “he died several times” but the desire to live and to find justice in this world helped him to survive, to reunite with his lost relatives and to finally become happy. In this book a constant struggle of good and evil is described. You can’t help crying when reading it as you start to live the life of the main character. I truly believe that “Oliver Twist” is a masterpiece of English literature.
Conclusion
Summing up I want to say that a book is one of the wonders of the world. We must treat them with great care.
My favourite book is “The Old Man and the Sea” by Ernest Hemingway. This story is one of the well-known works of the writer. The author depicts the characters of the old man and the boy and their relations very vividly and skillfully. Santiago, the old man, was one of the writer’s beloved characters. The old man was a born fisherman, but he was not a butcher and fished only for a living. He was very lonely. He had a devoted friend – the boy, Manolin. The boy loved the old man for his kind heart, his devotion to the sea. Manolin was like a son to Santiago. He took care of the old man’s food and his belongings. The old man was glad to pass his experience to the boy. He looked forward to going to the sea together with the boy. All Santiago’s life had been in preparation for the battle with big fish. He knew that he had been born for this and it was time to prove it. A strong man at last had met a strong fish. The battle was a difficult one and full of danger. Though the sharks had eaten the fish and nothing had left but the backbone, the old man had morally won the battle. Santiago’s words “man can be destroyed but not defeated” are the main idea of this story. “The Old Man and the Sea” is a masterpiece for its imaginative language and the description of nature.

is “Robinson Crusoe” by Daniel Defoe. D. Defoe (1660—1731) was a
great master of realistic detail. The novel “Robinson Crusoe”
was written in 1719. The novel is praise to human labour and the
triumph of man over nature.
Defoe shows the
development of his hero. At the beginning of the story we see an
inexperienced youth, a rather frivolous boy, who then becomes a
strong-willed man.
Robinson Crusoe’s
most characteristic trait is his optimism. His guiding principle
in life become “never say die” and “in trouble to be troubled is
to have your troubles doubled”.
He had confidence
in himself and in man. He believed it was within the power of
man to overcome all difficulties. Crusoe was an enthusiastic
worker and always hoped for the best.
Defoe is a writer
of the Enlightenment. He teaches people how to live, he tries to
teach what’s good and what’s bad. His novel “Robinson Crusoe” is
not only a work of fiction, an account of adventures, a
biography and an educational pamphlet.
It is a study of
man, a great work showing man in relation to nature and
civilization as well as in relation to labour and private

I’ve recently read a book which has made a very deep impression on me. It’s called Gone with the Wind and it makes really unforgettable reading. The author of the book is Margaret Mitchell. She was born in Atlanta, Georgia, into a family of the president of the Atlanta Historical Society. All the family were interested in American history and she grew up in an atmosphere of stories about the Civil War.
After graduating from college Margaret Mitchell worked for a time for the Atlanta Journal. In 1925 she got married. In the following ten years she put on paper all the stories she had heard about the Civil War. The result was Gone with the Wind. It was first published in 1936 and became the talking point of all America. In 1939 it was made into a highly successful film. Vivien Leigh and Clark Gable played the leading roles. Vivien Leigh won the Oscar. Everyone loved her high-spirited and beautiful heroine, Scarlett O’Hara.
The story is set around the time of the American Civil War (1861-65) when the Southern States went to war with the North to defend their way of life. It was a way of life in which rich gentry lived in large houses and owned huge areas of land, cultivated by black slaves. Scarlett O’Hara was born into one of these rich houses. When this way of life was destroyed and all her family’s wealth taken away by the advancing Northerners, the spoilt, willful Scarlet had to grow up and use all her wit and intelligence — and beauty — to build a new life.
But Gone with the Wind is also about a love triangle. While Scarlett loves the quiet, gentlemanly Ashley Wilkes, the wild and decidedly ungentlemanly Rhett Butler is in love with her. After Ashley marries someone else, and after many adventures of her own, Scarlett does marry Rhett — but only for money.
The marriage is stormy and eventually Rhett walks out on her, but by that time Scarlett has realized that she loves him after all. Scarlett thinks of some way of getting him back, but we never know if she does.
Margaret Mitchell never wrote a sequel to answer this burning question.
She died in 1949 in a car crash.
In 1991 a publishing company asked Alexandra Ripley, a historical novelist to do the job. Her novel Scarlett was not in the same class as the original. Critics have been writing very bad reviews of Scarlett, but the book is popular with the public. Перевод:

“Home Night”, published in 2000, is one of my favourite novels. It was written by remarkable authors, Filin Kristina and her daughter Kristin Kast. They are outstanding, creative, imaginative writers, who use their imagination to write “Home Night”. The book is full of mystery and suspense.
It is set in a city school. This story is about sixteen- year-old Zoi Redberd. Zoi`s father died and her mother married John. He did not like Zoi. Only one person in her family liked her. It was her grandmother. She helped Zoi.
When Zoi studied in nine classes she was made a vampire. She movedto Home Night, a school for vampires. Stivi Rey, Dem`en, Shoni, Erin were her new friends. They endured many dangerous and sad events together. But book has a happy end.
“Home Night” is an outstanding teenager`s fantasy story. Once I picked up this book, I could not put it down. I would like to read this book again and again.
I would recommend this book to everyone who has a very good imagination.

me. It is named “Gone with the Wind” The author of the book is
Margaret Mitchell. She was born in Atlanta, Georgia, in a family
of the president of the Atlanta Historical Society.
All the family
was interested in American history and she grew up in an
atmosphere of stones about the Civil War.
After graduating
from the college Margaret Mitchell worked for a time for the
Atlanta Journal. In 1925 she got married. In the following ten
years she put on paper all the stories she had heard about the
Civil War.
The result was
Gone with the Wind. It was first published in 1936 and became
the talking point of all America.
In 1939 the book
was made into a highly successful film. Vivien Leigh and Clark
Gable played the leading roles. Vivien Leigh won the Oscar.
Everyone loved her high-spirited and beautiful heroine, Scarlett
O’Hara.
The story is set
around the time of the American Civil War (1861-1865), when the
Southern states went to war with the North to defend their way
of life.
It was a way of
life in which rich gentry lived in large houses and owned huge
areas of land, cultivated by black slaves. Scarlett O’Hara was
born in one of those rich houses.
But “Gone with
the Wind” is also about a love triangle. While Scarlett loves
the quiet, gentlemanly Ashley Wilkes, the wild and decidedly
ungentlemanly Rhett Butler is in love with her.
Not so long ago,
in 1991, a publishing company asked Alexandra Ripley, a
historical novelist, to write the continuation of the story. Her
novel “Scarlett” was not in the same class as the original.
Critics have been writing very bad reviews of “Scarlett” but the

is “The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes” by Sir Arthur Conan
Doyle.
I first
discovered these stories when I was about twelve and I’ve loved
them ever since. They’re brilliantly written, full of bizarre
crimes and they’ve got a terrific Victorian atmosphere.
When you read
them you really feel like you’ve been carried back to
nineteenth-century London.
All the twentieth
century detectives like Miss Marple and Inspector Morse seem
really boring compared to Sherlock Holmes.
That’s where
Conan Doyle, really makes you believe that Holmes is unique — a
genius with amazing mental powers.
Normally I only
read detective stories once. I mean, why read them again when
you know what happens in the end?
With the Sherlock
Holmes stories, though, its different.
Each time I

I am fond of reading. I like to read books about adventures, great people and famous travelers, stories about animals and birds, fairy-tales and fables.
I have read a lot of interesting books, but my favourite book is “The Adventures of Tom Sawyer” by Mark Twain. This well- known book is popular with the children all over the world. The main character of the book is Tom Sawyer, who lived in a small town on the Mississippi River. He was a boy with a wild imagination. He liked to play games with his friends. They often dreamed of different adventures. Tom was sometimes naughty and never quiet. But his friends liked him because he was kind and brave. Besides, he was noble.
I liked Tom Sawyer very much because he was always bright and full of ideas. Tom teaches us to be noble, kind and brave. He also teaches us to be a true friend. I have learnt a lot about the life of children in America from this book.

My favourite book is “Robinson Crusoe” by Daniel Defoe. D. Defoe (1660—1731) was a great master of realistic detail. The novel “Robinson Crusoe” was written in 1719. The novel is praise to human labour and the triumph of man over nature.
Defoe shows the development of his hero. At the beginning of the story we see an inexperienced youth, a rather frivolous boy, who then becomes a strong-willed man.
Robinson Crusoe’s most characteristic trait is his optimism. His guiding principle in life become “never say die” and “in trouble to be troubled is to have your troubles doubled”.
He had confidence in himself and in man. He believed it was within the power of man to overcome all difficulties. Crusoe was an enthusiastic worker and always hoped for the best.
Defoe is a writer of the Enlightenment. He teaches people how to live, he tries to teach what’s good and what’s bad. His novel “Robinson Crusoe” is not only a work of fiction, an account of adventures, a biography and an educational pamphlet.
It is a study of man, a great work showing man in relation to nature and civilization as well as in relation to labour and private property.

Reading has been an effective tool to discover the life for many centuries. Books can be your guide to living, can develop your understanding of the world around and are also one of the most popular leisure time activities of all.
As for me, I discovered the wonderful world of reading when I was 10. I had read several books before but the book I was presented for my tenth birthday changed my attitude to reading and I started doing it for pleasure. I still remember this story in all details and treat it as my favourite one.
The title of this book is “Five go to Smuggler’s Top” and it is written by Enid Blyton, a famous British writer who wrote series of adventure books for children. My favourite book belongs to one of the most well-known series “The famous five” and tells about the adventures of four children and their faithful dog.
The main characters of the book are siblings Julian, Dick and Ann and their cousin George who is actually a girl whose full name is Georgina. She is my favourite character of this book because of her extremely interesting personality and identity. She has a dog called Timmy who plays an important role in this story. The adventures of these children begin as soon as they arrive to live in Mr. Lenoir’s house. There they meet Mr. Lenoir’s son Sooty who quickly becomes their friend. The key point is that Timmy is not allowed to live in this house so the children have to keep him secretly in the tunnels beneath the house. Using these tunnels to walk Timmy they find out the mystery of smugglers and their criminal activity.
I find this book really fascinating. It keeps your attention from the first page and it’s difficult to predict what is going to happen next. It’s especially interesting to understand who is who and find out the criminals in the end. The children get into troubles constantly and you’re worried about them all the time. I recommend reading this book to all teenagers who are keen on such kind of literature. It is going to blow you away.

When I read this book for the first time, I completely agreed with all actions of Dantes. Then I was only 16 years old. However many years later I read this book one more time. And as an adult I would say that sometimes the revenge of Dantes was too severe. I changed my point of view concerning many problems raised in the book.

My favourite book
It’s impossible to be an educated person without good books. Most of the books are to be read just once, others can be read plenty of times. And each time you find something new and useful as you turn the same pages of your favourite books. I am fond of books about adventures and great people, detective stories and science fiction. I enjoy reading them when I have spare time.
But my favorite book of all times is a novel “Three comrades” written by a German writer Erich Maria Remarque. This book was recommended to me by my elder sister and I’m grateful to her for that advice. It was really worth reading.
“Three comrades” is a book about love and friendship of three common people (Robert, Otto and Gottfried) who lived in Germany between the two World wars. The main characters are real friends who struggle together with poverty and violence and they manage to preserve their dignity and humanity. The story of beautiful and tragic love between Robert and Pat is heart-breaking because the girl dies of tuberculosis.
I find the book very powerful and deeply moving. It teaches people to find the inner strength to live in a tough world. It often helps me when I find myself in a difficult situation and I need an answer to some question. It is my great friend and teacher.

He lives in his aunt’s house and he doesn’t like to stay at home. He is very smart, because he always has a lot of brilliant ideas. Tom is very curious too. He wants to know about everything in the village. One day Tom gets into trouble. He is afraid of one man. So he runs away. But at the end of the story he comes back home. And everybody is happy! I love this book, because it is exciting. And Tom is a very nice boy.

And it tells us about a little boy Harry who lives in a family of his aunt. One day he finds out that he is a wizard and should go to study to a school of magic — Hogwarts. And that’s where the story begins. In the following 7 parts we get to know what a great wizard Harry is. He meets new friends, studies, does sport and conquer the most evil magician in the world. These books teach how to be friendly, loyal and strong. They show us how to face difficulties and how important a family and friends are. I love this book for all of this. I have already read it a few times. And I know that I will definitely read it once again.

I read always everything and everywhere. If you ask any of my friends about my hobby, everyone will tell you how much I like to read. For me there is no difference between novel, detective or historical books. There was a period when I read only psychological literature or some horror stories. But in general I like to read a lot. This love came to me because of my grandparents. They were reading fairytales for me when I was a child and now I read and share my opinion with them about the last books.
Speaking about different kind of literature I honestly prefer classical literature. There are some good books of modern literature as well. But normally I don’t feel desire to read it over again. Classical literature is completely different. Especially I like Russian classics. I read everything according my school program and sometimes I ask a teacher: what else can I read. They also know about my passion.
It’s difficult to say what is my favorite book, because many of them have changed my ideas, vision and opinion about some things. My favorite writers are Dostievskii, Gogol, Bulgakov, Turgenev, Nabokov, Chekhov, Bunin. I think their books I can read over and over again. The last book that impressed me a lot is “Master and Margharita” by Bulgakov. When I finished to read I was really sorry, that I hadn’t read it earlier. Somebody says that there is nothing special there, just another crazy story. But for me it is a very good example there is good and bad in our world. And unfortunately very often we can not make the right decision from the first time. We trust and love the wrong people but don’t pay attention on those who loves us. Maybe the story is little bit crazy, but I like it a lot.
Another book that I love so much is “The picture of Dorian Gray” by Oscar Wilde. It is a philosophical novel. I advised this book to all my friends. It’s a mystical story that happens to a young man. All his life he was attractive, charming, handsome and young. But he had a secret that could destroyed all this beautiful life. The moral for me is: we have to appreciate every moment and rely only on ourselves. Our life can finish very fast on the moment when we are happy.
The role of books in our life
First of all, I would like to say a few words about the role of books in our life. I think books are our best friends. While reading we have an opportunity to look into the future or into the past. Books form our values and character. Besides, they help us in self-education. What is more important, books teach us to be kind, hard-working, brave and honest and to understand each other better.
My favourite book
I’m really fond of reading. Whenever I have got free time I spend it with a book. There are a lot of famous writers in the world known for their wonderful books but my favourite one is “Oliver Twist” written by Charles Dickens in 1838. This is a very sad story with a happy end though. In his novel Dickens wrote about poverty and an unromantic criminal world. The book also exposed the cruelty with which poor children were treated in London at that time.
Content of the novel
It tells us about an orphan who was born into a life of poverty and misfortune. He came across lots of terrible events in the early years of his life and it can be stated that “he died several times” but the desire to live and to find justice in this world helped him to survive, to reunite with his lost relatives and to finally become happy. In this book a constant struggle of good and evil is described. You can’t help crying when reading it as you start to live the life of the main character. I truly believe that “Oliver Twist” is a masterpiece of English literature.
Conclusion
Summing up I want to say that a book is one of the wonders of the world. We must treat them with great care.
My favourite book is “The Old Man and the Sea” by Ernest Hemingway. This story is one of the well-known works of the writer. The author depicts the characters of the old man and the boy and their relations very vividly and skillfully. Santiago, the old man, was one of the writer’s beloved characters. The old man was a born fisherman, but he was not a butcher and fished only for a living. He was very lonely. He had a devoted friend – the boy, Manolin. The boy loved the old man for his kind heart, his devotion to the sea. Manolin was like a son to Santiago. He took care of the old man’s food and his belongings. The old man was glad to pass his experience to the boy. He looked forward to going to the sea together with the boy. All Santiago’s life had been in preparation for the battle with big fish. He knew that he had been born for this and it was time to prove it. A strong man at last had met a strong fish. The battle was a difficult one and full of danger. Though the sharks had eaten the fish and nothing had left but the backbone, the old man had morally won the battle. Santiago’s words “man can be destroyed but not defeated” are the main idea of this story. “The Old Man and the Sea” is a masterpiece for its imaginative language and the description of nature.

great master of realistic detail. The novel “Robinson Crusoe”
was written in 1719. The novel is praise to human labour and the
triumph of man over nature.
Defoe shows the
development of his hero. At the beginning of the story we see an
inexperienced youth, a rather frivolous boy, who then becomes a
strong-willed man.
Robinson Crusoe’s
most characteristic trait is his optimism. His guiding principle
in life become “never say die” and “in trouble to be troubled is
to have your troubles doubled”.
He had confidence
in himself and in man. He believed it was within the power of
man to overcome all difficulties. Crusoe was an enthusiastic
worker and always hoped for the best.
Defoe is a writer
of the Enlightenment. He teaches people how to live, he tries to
teach what’s good and what’s bad. His novel “Robinson Crusoe” is
not only a work of fiction, an account of adventures, a
biography and an educational pamphlet.
It is a study of
man, a great work showing man in relation to nature and
civilization as well as in relation to labour and private
property.

I’ve recently read a book which has made a very deep impression on me. It’s called Gone with the Wind and it makes really unforgettable reading. The author of the book is Margaret Mitchell. She was born in Atlanta, Georgia, into a family of the president of the Atlanta Historical Society. All the family were interested in American history and she grew up in an atmosphere of stories about the Civil War.
After graduating from college Margaret Mitchell worked for a time for the Atlanta Journal. In 1925 she got married. In the following ten years she put on paper all the stories she had heard about the Civil War. The result was Gone with the Wind. It was first published in 1936 and became the talking point of all America. In 1939 it was made into a highly successful film. Vivien Leigh and Clark Gable played the leading roles. Vivien Leigh won the Oscar. Everyone loved her high-spirited and beautiful heroine, Scarlett O’Hara.
The story is set around the time of the American Civil War (1861-65) when the Southern States went to war with the North to defend their way of life. It was a way of life in which rich gentry lived in large houses and owned huge areas of land, cultivated by black slaves. Scarlett O’Hara was born into one of these rich houses. When this way of life was destroyed and all her family’s wealth taken away by the advancing Northerners, the spoilt, willful Scarlet had to grow up and use all her wit and intelligence — and beauty — to build a new life.
But Gone with the Wind is also about a love triangle. While Scarlett loves the quiet, gentlemanly Ashley Wilkes, the wild and decidedly ungentlemanly Rhett Butler is in love with her. After Ashley marries someone else, and after many adventures of her own, Scarlett does marry Rhett — but only for money.
The marriage is stormy and eventually Rhett walks out on her, but by that time Scarlett has realized that she loves him after all. Scarlett thinks of some way of getting him back, but we never know if she does.
Margaret Mitchell never wrote a sequel to answer this burning question.
She died in 1949 in a car crash.
In 1991 a publishing company asked Alexandra Ripley, a historical novelist to do the job. Her novel Scarlett was not in the same class as the original. Critics have been writing very bad reviews of Scarlett, but the book is popular with the public.

“Home Night”, published in 2000, is one of my favourite novels. It was written by remarkable authors, Filin Kristina and her daughter Kristin Kast. They are outstanding, creative, imaginative writers, who use their imagination to write “Home Night”. The book is full of mystery and suspense.
It is set in a city school. This story is about sixteen- year-old Zoi Redberd. Zoi`s father died and her mother married John. He did not like Zoi. Only one person in her family liked her. It was her grandmother. She helped Zoi.
When Zoi studied in nine classes she was made a vampire. She movedto Home Night, a school for vampires. Stivi Rey, Dem`en, Shoni, Erin were her new friends. They endured many dangerous and sad events together. But book has a happy end.
“Home Night” is an outstanding teenager`s fantasy story. Once I picked up this book, I could not put it down. I would like to read this book again and again.
I would recommend this book to everyone who has a very good imagination.

My favourite book
is “The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes” by Sir Arthur Conan
Doyle.
I first
discovered these stories when I was about twelve and I’ve loved
them ever since. They’re brilliantly written, full of bizarre
crimes and they’ve got a terrific Victorian atmosphere.
When you read
them you really feel like you’ve been carried back to
nineteenth-century London.
All the twentieth
century detectives like Miss Marple and Inspector Morse seem
really boring compared to Sherlock Holmes.
That’s where
Conan Doyle, really makes you believe that Holmes is unique — a
genius with amazing mental powers.
Normally I only
read detective stories once. I mean, why read them again when
you know what happens in the end?
With the Sherlock
Holmes stories, though, its different.
Each time I
re-read them I discover more and more to enjoy.

I am fond of reading. I like to read books about adventures, great people and famous travelers, stories about animals and birds, fairy-tales and fables.
I have read a lot of interesting books, but my favourite book is “The Adventures of Tom Sawyer” by Mark Twain. This well- known book is popular with the children all over the world. The main character of the book is Tom Sawyer, who lived in a small town on the Mississippi River. He was a boy with a wild imagination. He liked to play games with his friends. They often dreamed of different adventures. Tom was sometimes naughty and never quiet. But his friends liked him because he was kind and brave. Besides, he was noble.
I liked Tom Sawyer very much because he was always bright and full of ideas. Tom teaches us to be noble, kind and brave. He also teaches us to be a true friend. I have learnt a lot about the life of children in America from this book.
