Sometimes, people don’t know what they could talk about, especially if there is a language barrier between them. But there are some simple topics, which could be discussed even if you have small knowledge of the language you try to speak or culture, religion and some personal interest of your interlocutor. One of these topics is weather.
The weather is uncertain, but people learned to forecast it. We can see the forecast on TV or in the Internet. Scientists get all data from planes, ships, space stations, etc. This information doesn’t let us forget to take an umbrella or a hat, gloves and scarf to avoid a flue.
In the place where I live it’s very changeable and variable. Sometimes it’s not possible to predict the weather with no mistakes because it’s changing all time in spite of all special forecasts. It could bring cold and mist, rain and sunshine, thunder and clear sky on the same date. My city is situated in European part of the country and it’s considered to be one of the most beautiful cities in Russia.
We have four seasons there. The summer isn’t too hot but so oppressively warm. Autumn brings a grand variety of rains, draughts and winds. When it starts it looks amazing: gold woods, honey grass, cozy atmosphere. But starting from the end of the October it’s getting muddy and gloomy. Winter is mild and brings a lot of snow. The spring comes with green grass and birds, which come back from the southern countries.
There are a lot of English proverbs and idioms about the weather. For example, “When two Englishmen meet, they first talk about weather”, “There is no bad weather, there are bad clothes”, “fair-weather friends”, etc. There also many quotations of famous writers about the weather. My favorite one is quotation of M. Twain:” It is best to read the weather forecast before praying for rain.”

We sometimes have blizzards in January and there is often ice on our roads. February is quite cold, but we usually have a thaw at the end of the months.
The beginning of March is usually cold and snowy. But at the end of March and in April the weather becomes warmer. These months are usually windy and foggy. The beginning of May is often quite cool. There are heavy rains and thunderstorms. But the end of May is usually dry and often even hot.

Sunny days are very useful because sunlight starts production of vitamin D which helps in assimilation of other vitamins. Many people from north are heading south for vacation with great sunny days.
And rainy days of autumn are best for gathering of friends, drinking tea and watch favorite movie. In addition sound of drumming raindrops is the great thing before sleep. Winter offers numerous ways of having fun with snow. How great it can be to crawl under the blankets with cup of hot tea and listen to howling wind outside the window. Due to the fact that Russia is the largest country in the world, weather conditions there vary in different regions considerably. Mostly there is a continental climate on the territory of the Russian Federation.
Foreigners believe that winters in Russia are really long and cold. Partially it is true, but there are some regions, where the weather conditions are not so unfavourable in winter time.

The best weather conditions are considered to be in the south. Climate in this part of the country is really gentle. Summers are quite hot with some rainfall, while autumns and springs are warm and sunny, which stimulates agriculture in this area and makes it the most convenient to live in. Snow is unusual for south region even in winter. Normally it rains in this season and it is rather cloudy and gloomy. However, there is some snow in mountainous areas.

It is necessary to dress according to the weather, not to allow hypothermia, always have an umbrella with you. In order not to depend on weather changes, doctors recommend eating foods rich in vitamins, playing sports, breathing fresh air as much as possible, and tempering. With such approach to your health, your immunity will protect you from all weather conditions.

In the spring the first shoots appear from the ground, as if taking the first steps. All nature returns to life. Brooks purl, drip of thawing snow, animals in the forest enjoy the sunshine, the first snowdrops peep through the snow. But not only the nature puts on bright colours, people also take off their warm coats. One feels like going along the street and smiling .
Summer takes us into a fantastic world. In summer the sun is bright, the sky is blue and bottomless.
In autumn, we can observe various beautiful landscapes. With the beginning of the early fall the crowns of trees become yellow. Indian summer comes. Trees are thoughtful, just remember the last days of summer, watching high mountains into the distance, as if trying to see the future.

My name is Marta. I’m sixteen years old. I would like to tell you about my favourite weather.
There are four seasons in a year: spring, summer, autumn and winter. Each season brings its weather. For example, in summer it’s usually hot, dry and sunny. We often go to the Spain at this time of the year.
The weather in autumn turns cooler and often windy and rainy. I like watching how red and yellow leaves fall down from trees and cover the ground. Winter in my region is rather cold. It snows a lot and the average temperature is about 20 degrees below zero. The first part of spring is still chilly. However starting from the middle of April it gets warmer. I like all seasons and all kinds of weather. I can find an interesting pastime at any weather condition.
In summer I go swimming in the river Volga. In autumn I prefer spending time at home. I read books, do my homework, do some knitting and invite friends over. In winter I go skiing and sledding. In spring I often go for a walk in woods to pick flowers and listen to birds’ singing. However, my favourite weather is 20 or 25 degrees above zero.
Most of all seasons I like summer. There are many reasons for that. Firstly, it’s the time of the longest holidays during the academic year. Starting from June I know that I have three months ahead to do whatever I like. Secondly, I’m really fond of swimming and sunbathing. Sometimes I go swimming with my friends in the nearest lake. At other times my parents and I go to the seaside. Apart from swimming, I play lots of outdoor games with my peers. We play volleyball, ping-pong, hide-and-seek, etc.
One or two time a week I visit my grandparents, who live in the countryside. That’s an especially beautiful place. It’s always quiet and peaceful there. The air is also much cleaner than in the city. I have a couple of friends there, who are happy to see me. I usually stay for a couple of days to help my grandparents with their garden and to spend enough time playing, swimming and horse riding. In conclusion, I’d like to say that all weather conditions are good, but sun and heat are definitely the best for me.

Every season is wonderful in its own way. In spring the air is refreshing, the trees are in blossom, the ground is covered with the first tender flowers. The birds start singing heavenly songs. In summer it can be really dry and sultry, there are thunders and lightnings during the heavy showers. People go sunbathing, fishing and sailing and enjoy all kinds of fruits and berries. In autumn the trees turn golden, it often rains cats and dogs and it’s quite muddy. The sky is overcast with grey clouds, sometimes it’s foggy and chilly and the days become shorter. In winter the snow covers the ground, the air is frosty, the roads are slippery. It is mainly freezing and there are periods of severe colds and heavy snowfalls. The temperature can fall down to 35 degrees below zero.
I prefer not to complain about the weather but generally I enjoy mild and calm weather with a moderate breeze. I don’t quite like damp and gloomy weather and it’s hard for me to stand windy or hot summer days with mosquitoes and flies and oppressive heat. But so many men, so many minds.
Our country is so huge and the weather is not the same in different parts of Russia. It depends on the geographical position and the type of climate. We must admit that the climate has changed much due to global warming and winters have become much warmer. It looks rather strange and disappointing when there is little snow in winter and sometimes it even sleets or drizzles.
Frankly speaking, I don’t trust our misleading weather forecasts as they don’t come true as a rule. The weather is changeable and it is a thing that is beyond us, so it’s better to keep an umbrella in your bag all the year round.

Наша страна такая огромная, и погода отличается в разных частях России. Она зависит от географического положения и типа климата. Мы должны признать, что климат сильно изменился вследствие глобального потепления, и зимы стали намного теплее. Выглядит довольно странно и печально, когда зимой мало снега, и иногда идет мокрый снег или моросит.
Честно говоря, я не верю нашим обманчивым прогнозам погоды, так как они, как правило, не сбываются. Погода изменчива, и она не зависит от нас, поэтому лучше держать в сумке зонт круглый год.

Our winter is cold, sometimes there is severe frost or hoarfrost, it is often snowing, the river is covered with ice, and there is ice-slick on roads. I like when snow lies everywhere, trees are covered with hoarfrost and the sun shines, everything sparkles in the different colours as if the earth is covered with diamonds.
Spring comes early enough, at the end of March buds begin to swell. On the streets of our city is warm, everything begins to turn green and to bloom. From time to time there are steady rains, during the rains it is sad in our city, but then the sun comes up and all people go out to breathe fresh air.
Summer is hot and solar, sometimes happens stuffy, air temperature reaches 40 degrees. In such weather we eat a lot of ice cream, take cold shower, and go to the city beach. Wind is different: cool, hot, easy and strong. Sometimes there are rains with thunder-storms after which smells of freshness and breeze coolness.
Most of all I love summer. In summer there is vacation and I have a birthday, moreover it is possible to bathe and to stay long on the street because days are long and it darkens late. In summer birds sing their marvelous songs. But I love our city at all seasons of the year, because it the best on the earth.

Sometimes, people don’t know what they could talk about, especially if there is a language barrier between them. But there are some simple topics, which could be discussed even if you have small knowledge of the language you try to speak or culture, religion and some personal interest of your interlocutor. One of these topics is weather.
The weather is uncertain, but people learned to forecast it. We can see the forecast on TV or in the Internet. Scientists get all data from planes, ships, space stations, etc. This information doesn’t let us forget to take an umbrella or a hat, gloves and scarf to avoid a flue.
In the place where I live it’s very changeable and variable. Sometimes it’s not possible to predict the weather with no mistakes because it’s changing all time in spite of all special forecasts. It could bring cold and mist, rain and sunshine, thunder and clear sky on the same date. My city is situated in European part of the country and it’s considered to be one of the most beautiful cities in Russia.
We have four seasons there. The summer isn’t too hot but so oppressively warm. Autumn brings a grand variety of rains, draughts and winds. When it starts it looks amazing: gold woods, honey grass, cozy atmosphere. But starting from the end of the October it’s getting muddy and gloomy. Winter is mild and brings a lot of snow. The spring comes with green grass and birds, which come back from the southern countries.
There are a lot of English proverbs and idioms about the weather. For example, “When two Englishmen meet, they first talk about weather”, “There is no bad weather, there are bad clothes”, “fair-weather friends”, etc. There also many quotations of famous writers about the weather. My favorite one is quotation of M. Twain:” It is best to read the weather forecast before praying for rain.”

The beginning of March is usually cold and snowy. But at the end of March and in April the weather becomes warmer. These months are usually windy and foggy. The beginning of May is often quite cool. There are heavy rains and thunderstorms. But the end of May is usually dry and often even hot.

Sunny days are very useful because sunlight starts production of vitamin D which helps in assimilation of other vitamins. Many people from north are heading south for vacation with great sunny days.
And rainy days of autumn are best for gathering of friends, drinking tea and watch favorite movie. In addition sound of drumming raindrops is the great thing before sleep. It helps to get calm and fall asleep peacefully. While sitting aside fireplace and listening crackling of burning logs comes this special sort of comfort.
Winter offers numerous ways of having fun with snow. How great it can be to crawl under the blankets with cup of hot tea and listen to howling wind outside the window. Winter is the time of numerous holydays with lots of celebrations and presents. But spring brings the best weather. Due to the fact that Russia is the largest country in the world, weather conditions there vary in different regions considerably. Mostly there is a continental climate on the territory of the Russian Federation.
Foreigners believe that winters in Russia are really long and cold. Partially it is true, but there are some regions, where the weather conditions are not so unfavourable in winter time.

Snow is unusual for south region even in winter. Normally it rains in this season and it is rather cloudy and gloomy. However, there is some snow in mountainous areas.

They constantly feel headaches, apathy, weakness, loss of appetite.
It is necessary to dress according to the weather, not to allow hypothermia, always have an umbrella with you. In order not to depend on weather changes, doctors recommend eating foods rich in vitamins, playing sports, breathing fresh air as much as possible, and tempering. With such approach to your health, your immunity will protect you from all weather conditions.

In the spring the first shoots appear from the ground, as if taking the first steps. All nature returns to life. Brooks purl, drip of thawing snow, animals in the forest enjoy the sunshine, the first snowdrops peep through the snow. But not only the nature puts on bright colours, people also take off their warm coats. One feels like going along the street and smiling .
Summer takes us into a fantastic world. In summer the sun is bright, the sky is blue and bottomless.
In autumn, we can observe various beautiful landscapes. With the beginning of the early fall the crowns of trees become yellow. Indian summer comes. Trees are thoughtful, just remember the last days of summer, watching high mountains into the distance, as if trying to see the future.
Winter is peculiar in its own way. The trees stand in the snow, like apple trees in bloom. Pure white. The snow glitters in the sun, sparkling and glistening. Frost draws the patterns on the glass.

My name is Marta. I’m sixteen years old. I would like to tell you about my favourite weather.
There are four seasons in a year: spring, summer, autumn and winter. Each season brings its weather. For example, in summer it’s usually hot, dry and sunny. We often go to the Spain at this time of the year.
The weather in autumn turns cooler and often windy and rainy. I like watching how red and yellow leaves fall down from trees and cover the ground. Winter in my region is rather cold. It snows a lot and the average temperature is about 20 degrees below zero. The first part of spring is still chilly. However starting from the middle of April it gets warmer. I like all seasons and all kinds of weather. I can find an interesting pastime at any weather condition.
In summer I go swimming in the river Volga. In autumn I prefer spending time at home. I read books, do my homework, do some knitting and invite friends over. In winter I go skiing and sledding. In spring I often go for a walk in woods to pick flowers and listen to birds’ singing. However, my favourite weather is 20 or 25 degrees above zero.
Most of all seasons I like summer. There are many reasons for that. Firstly, it’s the time of the longest holidays during the academic year. Starting from June I know that I have three months ahead to do whatever I like. Secondly, I’m really fond of swimming and sunbathing. Sometimes I go swimming with my friends in the nearest lake. At other times my parents and I go to the seaside. Apart from swimming, I play lots of outdoor games with my peers. We play volleyball, ping-pong, hide-and-seek, etc.
One or two time a week I visit my grandparents, who live in the countryside. That’s an especially beautiful place. It’s always quiet and peaceful there. The air is also much cleaner than in the city. I have a couple of friends there, who are happy to see me. I usually stay for a couple of days to help my grandparents with their garden and to spend enough time playing, swimming and horse riding. In conclusion, I’d like to say that all weather conditions are good, but sun and heat are definitely the best for me.

В году 4 времени года: весна, лето, осень и зима. Каждому сезону характерна своя погода. Например, летом, как правило, жарко, сухо и солнечно. Мы часто едем в Испанию в это время года.
Осенью погода становиться холодней, становится ветренно и идут частые дожди. Мне нравится смотреть, как красные и желтые листья падают с деревьев и покрывают землю. Зима в моем регионе довольно холодная. Выпадает много снега и средняя температура около 20 градусов ниже нуля. В первой половине весны все еще прохладно. Однако, начиная с середины апреля, становится теплее. Мне нравятся все времена года и все разновидности погоды. Я могу найти интересное занятие в любую погоду.
p>Летом я купаюсь в Волге. Осенью я предпочитаю проводить время дома. Я читаю книги, делаю уроки, занимаюсь вязанием и приглашаю в гости друзей. Зимой я катаюсь на лыжах и санках. Весной я часто хожу на прогулку в лес, чтобы нарвать цветов и послушать пение птиц. Тем не менее, моя любимая погода 20 или 25 градусов выше нуля.
Из всех сезонов мне больше всего нравится лето. На это есть много причин. Во-первых, в это время самые длительные каникулы учебного года. Every season is wonderful in its own way. In spring the air is refreshing, the trees are in blossom, the ground is covered with the first tender flowers. The birds start singing heavenly songs. In summer it can be really dry and sultry, there are thunders and lightnings during the heavy showers. People go sunbathing, fishing and sailing and enjoy all kinds of fruits and berries. In autumn the trees turn golden, it often rains cats and dogs and it’s quite muddy. The sky is overcast with grey clouds, sometimes it’s foggy and chilly and the days become shorter. In winter the snow covers the ground, the air is frosty, the roads are slippery. It is mainly freezing and there are periods of severe colds and heavy snowfalls. The temperature can fall down to 35 degrees below zero.
I prefer not to complain about the weather but generally I enjoy mild and calm weather with a moderate breeze. I don’t quite like damp and gloomy weather and it’s hard for me to stand windy or hot summer days with mosquitoes and flies and oppressive heat. But so many men, so many minds.
Our country is so huge and the weather is not the same in different parts of Russia. It depends on the geographical position and the type of climate. We must admit that the climate has changed much due to global warming and winters have become much warmer. It looks rather strange and disappointing when there is little snow in winter and sometimes it even sleets or drizzles.
Frankly speaking, I don’t trust our misleading weather forecasts as they don’t come true as a rule. The weather is changeable and it is a thing that is beyond us, so it’s better to keep an umbrella in your bag all the year round.

Я предпочитаю не жаловаться на погоду, но, в основном, мне нравится мягкая и спокойная погода с легким ветерком. Я не совсем люблю влажную и мрачную погоду, и я с трудом переношу ветреные или жаркие летние дни с комарами и мухами и угнетающей жарой. Но сколько людей, столько и мнений.
Наша страна такая огромная, и погода отличается в разных частях России. Она зависит от географического положения и типа климата. Мы должны признать, что климат сильно изменился вследствие глобального потепления, и зимы стали намного теплее. Выглядит довольно странно и печально, когда зимой мало снега, и иногда идет мокрый снег или моросит.
Честно говоря, я не верю нашим обманчивым прогнозам погоды, так как они, как правило, не сбываются. Погода изменчива, и она не зависит от нас, поэтому лучше держать в сумке зонт круглый год.
