Air pollution is one of the major problems of today. Millions of people all over the world live in areas in which the air is not safe to breathe. As for Russia, it is estimated that Altai is the region with the largest percent of harmful substances in the air. In most cases air pollution is caused by people.
Main sources of air pollution
Industry
One of the main sources of this type of pollution is industry. Numerous factories and plants release into the atmosphere a lot of waste such as poisonous chemicals and, what is worse, particles of heavy metals. This process not only produces harmful effects on the atmosphere, but influences man’s health as well. People are suffering from lung diseases more and more often or have headaches, breathing such polluted air.
Waste
Waste, created by people may occur in the form of gases or particles of solid and liquid matter which appear as a result of burning fossil fuels. Burning of garbage also contributes to the problem.
Means of transport
One more dramatic thing is an increasing number of cars and other means of transport as their fumes penetrate into the atmosphere and destroy the ozone layer which protects the Earth from the dangerous light of the Sun.

always polluted their surroundings. But until now pollution was
not such a serious problem. People lived in uncrowned rural
areas and did not have pollution — causing machines. With the
development of crowded industrial cities which put huge amounts
of pollutants into small areas, the problem has become more

other new inventions make pollution steadily worse. Since the
late 1960’s people have become alarmed with the danger of
pollution.
Air, water, and
soil are necessary for existence of all living things. But

be grown. In addition environmental pollution spoils the natural

Pollution is as

Factories pollute the air and the water but they provide jobs for people and produce necessary goods. Fertilizers and pesticides are important for growing crops but they can ruin soil.
Thus, people would have to stop using many useful things if they wanted to end pollution immediately. Most people do not want that of course. But pollution can be reduced gradually.

Our planet Earth is only a tiny part of the universe, and it is so far the only place where human beings can live.

Air Pollution is one of the most worrying problems of our time. This problem surfaced during the industrial revolution. The great industrial revolution brought about many positive changes to the world; better transportation, cheaper products, and a better life. However, with it’s riches came the price, pollution. At the beginning of the industrial revolution, no one paid any attention to the problem of pollution. As the science, progressed people started to realize this problem.
Air pollution arises from many sources. The burning of gasoline in automobiles produces harmful gases and incineration of products. From various factories come millions of particles that are carried off in the air. Chemical plants produce gaseous by-products that are toxic when their concentration is high enough. As parts of the world become more industrialized, air pollution has generally increased and new health hazards have developed. Air pollution can result from causes that we can not control. For example, forest fires, dust storms, and volcanoes.
So, all in all Air pollution is actually the addition of any harmful substances to the atmosphere, which causes the damaging of the environment, human health and the quality of life. With the development in industry, came along the increase in air polution, which occurs inside homes, schools, offices even in the countryside. Consequently there has been an increase in the death rates resulting from various diseases caused by air pollution varying from breathing problem to lung cancer. Air pollution does not only affect people but it also damages the whole ecological system in which plants and animals are harmed as well. Air pollution has reached such a critical stage where it affects the earth’s atmosphere as it lets in more harmful radiation from the sun. Consequently, our polluted atmosphere is becoming a better insulator, thus, preventing heat from escaping back into space. That is why there is a global rise in temperature which scientists refer to as “the very global warming”. As a result of this rise in temperature the world food supply and sea level will be affected, also there is the probability of increase in the tropical disease.

Our planet Earth is only a tiny part of the universe, and it is so far the only place where human beings can live.

What can we do to save our planet? First of all, people should switch to alternative forms of power, such as solar power or wind power. Secondly, the use of atomic power must be banned.
