Urban and rural life: advantages and
disadvantages
Some people
prefer hustle and bustle of big cities, while others prefer
peaceful lifestyle of rural areas. Tastes differ. There is no
definite answer which lifestyle is better. In my opinion,
everything depends on personality. Let us examine more
thoroughly some advantages and disadvantages of both rural and
urban life.
Living in a city
can be very convenient. There are a lot of opportunities of
education, career and social life. If you live in a big city,
you have many education options to choose from. You can graduate
from the most renowned and reputed universities or educational
institutions, find a well-paid job and have more opportunities
for personal development. Besides, the social life is so
diverse. There are lots of theatres, museums, cinemas,
exhibitions and art galleries. Urban life will definitely suit
an individual who prefers to lead an active lifestyle and who
think that there are too few hours in a day.
However, there
are lots of disadvantages of urban life. One of the most burning
problems a city dweller faces every day is heavy traffic. People
who stuck in traffic jams have to delay their plans or even miss
important meetings. People are always in a hurry and pressed for
time. Besides, big cities are overcrowded and its population is
growing with every passing day. Another problem of big cities is
air and water pollution caused by industrial plants, domestic
heating and traffic. It is generally agreed that air pollution
as well as smog have harmful impacts on health. Thus, in recent
years people are getting more and more concerned about
ecological problems. I am sure all people must unite efforts to
save our Planet. Moreover, urban poverty can be the reason of
many crimes, such as burglary, pickpocketing and robbery. The
last but not the least, gambling, drug addiction, unemployment
are just few biggest problems that have become acute in almost
all big cities.
There are a lot of advantages of rural life. The rural areas are
not as crowded as urban ones. People live in the harmony with
nature.
Just imagine, how
awesome is to wake up with birds singing and the first rays of
sunlight and go fishing. You can walk barefoot or sleep in a
hammock. Village people keep the livestock and do gardening.
Undoubtedly, all homemade products, like sour cream or cottage
cheese, do taste better. Moreover, people who live in the
country are more open, friendly and warm-hearted. They are one
big family. The last but not the least, living in a country is
good for health. People eat fresh fruit, vegetables, dairy
products and meat. The air is fresh and less polluted. The roads
are less dangerous and you can safely ride a bike.
However, there
are also some disadvantages of living in the village. First of
all, it is a commuting problem. There is a lack of public
transport in the country and that can be a great problem for
people who need emergency assistance. Besides, if you want to
make a career or get a higher education, you’ll have to commute
between your home in the country and your office in the city.
Taking into
consideration all mentioned above, I think that people should
choose where to live, in or out of town, according to their

возможностей для личностного роста. Кроме того, социальная жизнь
очень разнообразна. Есть множество театров, музеев, кинотеатров
и художественных выставок. Жизнь в большом городе определенно
подойдет тому, кто предпочитает активный образ жизни и кому не
хватает двадцати четырех часов в сутках.
Однако у жизни в большом городе есть
также свои недостатки. Одной из самых актуальных проблем, с
которыми ежедневно сталкивается городской житель, является
интенсивное дорожное движение. Тем, кто вынужденно стоит в
пробках, приходится откладывать свои планы или даже пропускать
важные встречи. Людям вечно не хватает времени, и все куда-то
спешат. Кроме того, еще одной проблемой больших городов является
перенаселенность, в то время как численность населения
продолжает расти. Ко всему прочему, основные источники
загрязнения воды и атмосферного воздуха — промышленные
предприятия, домашнее отопление и транспорт. А ведь всеобще
известно, что загрязненный воздух, так же как и смог, оказывает
губительное воздействие на организм человека в целом. Однако в
последнее время люди все больше и больше стали интересоваться
экологическими проблемами. Я уверена, если все люди объединят
усилия, то нам удастся спасти планету. Кроме того, городская
беднота может стать причиной таких преступлений, как квартирные,
карманные кражи, а также ограбления. И последнее, но не менее
важное: азартные игры, наркомания, безработица — вот всего
несколько актуальных проблем, с которыми вынуждены сталкиваться
городские жители.
Жизнь в деревне имеет свои
преимущества. Сельская местность является не такой населенной,
как городские территории. Люди живут в гармонии с природой.
Только представьте себе, как приятно просыпаться с первыми
лучами солнца под пение птиц и идти на рыбалку. Можно ходить
босиком и спать в гамаке. Селяне содержат домашний скот и
занимаются садоводством. Вне всяких сомнений, все домашние
продукты, такие как сметана или творог, намного вкуснее. Более
того, деревенские жители обычно более открытые, дружелюбные и
добродушные. Они все живут одной большой семьей. И последнее, но
не менее важное: жизнь в деревне полезна для здоровья. Ведь люди
едят свежие фрукты, овощи, молочные продукты и мясо. Воздух тоже
свежий и менее загрязненный. На дорогах не так опасно и можно
безопасно передвигаться на велосипеде.
Однако жизнь в деревне тоже имеет
свои недостатки. Прежде всего, это проблема с транспортом. Из-за
нехватки общественного транспорта эта проблема может стать
особенно острой для людей, нуждающихся в неотложной медицинской
помощи. Кроме того, если вы хотите построить карьеру или
получить высшее образование, то вам придется ежедневно ездить из
пригорода в город и обратно.
Принимая во внимание все
вышесказанное, я считаю, что людям следует выбирать между жизнью
в городе и деревне, исходя из их предпочтений, образа жизни и
призвания.

Many people discuss this topic often: is the life better in a city or in the village? Well my family used to live in a village before and I had beautiful and interesting life. Few years ago we moved to the city and now I see many advantages and disadvantages.
Well first of all life in the country gives you possibility to eat fresh fruit and vegetables, to pick up mushrooms and berries in the forest. I went to the forest every year and our fridge was always full of different natural products.
Another thing is fresh air. I don’t have any problems with my health, but many people come here in summer. Fresh air, forest, river can help you to rest and relax.
In the village we all know each other. It’s a good and bad thing. Imagine you can not make new friends, meet new people and so on.
A city is another story because every day you can meet new people. You can also have more possibilities to entertain your life after school: dancing classes, gym, photo lessons and so on.
All the shops, schools and libraries are close. You take a bus or metro and in few minutes you are there. In a village you need first travel by train to reach the city.
As you can see both lifestyles have pros and cons. I like the life in the city more. Here I am trying to do what I want and what I like. But in summer I like to visit my grandparents and stay in the village for few weeks. I think person who has never got this experience will never understand this point of view.

В деревне мы все знаем друг друга. Это, вроде, и хорошо и плохо сразу. Представьте только, вы не можете завести новых друзей, познакомиться с интересными людьми и так далее.
А вот город – это совсем другая история, ведь каждый день вы можете встречать новых людей. У вас также есть больше возможностей, чтобы развлечься после школы: уроки танцев, спортивный зал, уроки фотографии и так далее.
Все магазины, школы и библиотеки совсем близко. Вы садитесь в автобус или на метро и через несколько минут вы на месте. А в деревне вам нужно сначала на поезде доехать до города.
Как видите, оба образа жизни имеют плюсы и минусы. Жизнь в городе мне нравится больше. Тут я могу делать то, что мне нравится. Но летом я езжу к бабушке и дедушке в деревню, чтобы пожить там несколько недель. Я думаю, что человек, который никогда не менял место жительства, никогда не поймёт мою точку зрения.
My Village

My grandparents live in a country house in a small village not far from Moscow. Very often my parents and I visit them on the weekends. Moreover, I spend most part of my summer holidays there. I love my village. The air there is really fresh and there are lots of things to do.

In my village, there is a lake. I swim there with my friends when the weather is good.
My granny has a small garden and I always enjoy an opportunity to eat fresh vegetables, fruit, and berries, when I am in the country. Sometimes my grandfather and I go to the forest and pick up mushrooms. I find this activity really interesting. From time to time we also go fishing. Honestly, I am not really good at it, but my grandfather is a professional. In the Lake there a lot of different species of fish. After the fishing, my granny normally cooks a fish soup. It is one of my favorite dishes and my granny cooks very delicious.

In summer there are a lot of people in my village. Some of them are living there
on aregular basis, like mygrandparents. Everybody knows each other there and I really appreciate it that there I can go for a walk with my friends at any time and my relatives would not worry about me. My village is a place, where I have a lot of friends and enjoy spending time!

The opinions about living in the city and country are different. There are advantages and disadvantages in both, so you have to think properly before choosing where to live.
As for me, I prefer living in the country, because it is more comfortable, soothing and the pace of living is slower, than i the city. The air is clean and the neighbours are very friendly, and being close to nature is good for health.
In the mornings you can enjoy the twittering of birds, the smells of flowers and the breathtaking sight of the rising sun. Suburban dwellers are relaxed and have a more optimistic attitude to life and good relationships with other people.

There are career and study opportunities, there is central heating and running water. Towns and cities attract people of different cultures, so you can have various interesting friends.
Nevertheless, I want to live in the country when I grow up. I will buy a house in the countryside and enjoy my wonderful and healthy life in the village.

People can live in the city or in rural regions. People decide where they want to live and move there. Sometimes they have to change the place of living because the work requires it. Some people prefer to live in isolation from the rest of the world. They choose places which are located far from cities and rural regions. Sometimes it is quite difficult to get there.

disadvantages
Some people
prefer hustle and bustle of big cities, while others prefer
peaceful lifestyle of rural areas. Tastes differ. There is no
definite answer which lifestyle is better. In my opinion,
everything depends on personality. Let us examine more
thoroughly some advantages and disadvantages of both rural and
urban life.
Living in a city
can be very convenient. There are a lot of opportunities of
education, career and social life. If you live in a big city,
you have many education options to choose from. You can graduate
from the most renowned and reputed universities or educational
institutions, find a well-paid job and have more opportunities
for personal development. Besides, the social life is so
diverse. There are lots of theatres, museums, cinemas,
exhibitions and art galleries. Urban life will definitely suit
an individual who prefers to lead an active lifestyle and who
think that there are too few hours in a day.
However, there
are lots of disadvantages of urban life. One of the most burning
problems a city dweller faces every day is heavy traffic. People
who stuck in traffic jams have to delay their plans or even miss
important meetings. People are always in a hurry and pressed for
time. Besides, big cities are overcrowded and its population is
growing with every passing day. Another problem of big cities is
air and water pollution caused by industrial plants, domestic
heating and traffic. It is generally agreed that air pollution
as well as smog have harmful impacts on health. Thus, in recent
years people are getting more and more concerned about
ecological problems. I am sure all people must unite efforts to
save our Planet. Moreover, urban poverty can be the reason of
many crimes, such as burglary, pickpocketing and robbery. The
last but not the least, gambling, drug addiction, unemployment
are just few biggest problems that have become acute in almost
all big cities.
There are a lot of advantages of rural life. The rural areas are
not as crowded as urban ones. People live in the harmony with
nature.
Just imagine, how
awesome is to wake up with birds singing and the first rays of
sunlight and go fishing. You can walk barefoot or sleep in a
hammock. Village people keep the livestock and do gardening.
Undoubtedly, all homemade products, like sour cream or cottage
cheese, do taste better. Moreover, people who live in the
country are more open, friendly and warm-hearted. They are one
big family. The last but not the least, living in a country is
good for health. People eat fresh fruit, vegetables, dairy
products and meat. The air is fresh and less polluted. The roads
are less dangerous and you can safely ride a bike.
However, there
are also some disadvantages of living in the village. First of
all, it is a commuting problem. There is a lack of public
transport in the country and that can be a great problem for
people who need emergency assistance. Besides, if you want to
make a career or get a higher education, you’ll have to commute
between your home in the country and your office in the city.
Taking into
consideration all mentioned above, I think that people should
choose where to live, in or out of town, according to their
preferences, lifestyle and vocation.

как городские территории. Люди живут в гармонии с природой.
Только представьте себе, как приятно просыпаться с первыми

Many people discuss this topic often: is the life better in a city or in the village? Well my family used to live in a village before and I had beautiful and interesting life. Few years ago we moved to the city and now I see many advantages and disadvantages.
Well first of all life in the country gives you possibility to eat fresh fruit and vegetables, to pick up mushrooms and berries in the forest. I went to the forest every year and our fridge was always full of different natural products.
Another thing is fresh air. I don’t have any problems with my health, but many people come here in summer. Fresh air, forest, river can help you to rest and relax.
In the village we all know each other. It’s a good and bad thing. Imagine you can not make new friends, meet new people and so on.
A city is another story because every day you can meet new people. You can also have more possibilities to entertain your life after school: dancing classes, gym, photo lessons and so on.
All the shops, schools and libraries are close. You take a bus or metro and in few minutes you are there. In a village you need first travel by train to reach the city.
As you can see both lifestyles have pros and cons. I like the life in the city more. Here I am trying to do what I want and what I like. But in summer I like to visit my grandparents and stay in the village for few weeks. I think person who has never got this experience will never understand this point of view.

My grandparents live in a country house in a small village not far from Moscow. Very often my parents and I visit them on the weekends. Moreover, I spend most part of my summer holidays there. I love my village. The air there is really fresh and there are lots of things to do.

As for me, I prefer living in the country, because it is more comfortable, soothing and the pace of living is slower, than i the city. The air is clean and the neighbours are very friendly, and being close to nature is good for health.

I have always wanted to spend more time in the countryside. My family and I live in the suburbs of a big city. My grandparents live in the village not far from us. There is a spacious garden and a chicken coop behind the house. Life in the city is boring for me. It consists of school and several friends. Whereas in the country I can swim in the local lake, pick berries and mushrooms, help my grandparents with the garden, go for a walk in the woods, read a book under the shed, go camping with friends and do many other interesting activities. I think that life in the village is fantastic! I really enjoy spending my weekends and holidays there. If I grow up I’d like to have a house in the countryside instead of a city flat. I prefer old-fashioned, wooden houses with traditional Russian ornaments in it. I’d like to plant many fruit trees and colourful flowers around my house. If there is a river or a pond nearby, it would be perfect. I like swimming and sunbathing in summer. To make my life complete there, I need some pets. Most of all I like cats and dogs but I can also keep a dozen of chickens in the village. They will supply me with fresh eggs every day. The best thing about living in the countryside is the fresh air and relaxing atmosphere.
