Russia … What do you imagine when you hear this word? Someone imagines a great country that occupies the largest part of the continent, the others think about the largest exporter of oil, another people imagine large industrial cities with factories. I imagine a small village, which is located in the heart of the Siberia.
If you are just passing this village in transport, you can notice nothing extraordinary, but if you take a closer look, you’ll never want to go away. The nature is wonderful there. Clean air, which every citizen dreams about, and the mountains and the forest in the background of the blue almost transparent sky, seem to be fabulous. There are a lotof lakes, where you can fish, go boating or just swim. There are a lot of mushrooms and berries in the forests. Walking along the paths, you can collect a bunch of flowers or just watch and take picture of other ones, which are in The Red Book. Children like to get together and go to the nearest creek to swim in a hot day, and there you can dissolve a fire and bake the potatoes with bacon. And in winter, they build a snow fortress, or take a big horse sleigh; the whole crowds drag them up to the hill and then laugh and go down through the village…
I love the village. Everyone knows you, your parents and grandparents. It seems the village to be a big family… I like “Molodetskie games” most of all. They are always held on Maslenitsa festival. Everybody in the village come to look at them. The teams arrive and the competitions in different kinds of sport take place. They pull rope, then lift weights, sing and dance … It’s very funny! … And then people burn a strawman and eat pancakes.
It is often said that a village inhabitant is different from a city man, and I do not deny it. People grown in village are much kinder and they like to communicate with other people. Just because they used to. I think it`s very good, because people are stronger together! Перевод:

Люблю деревню. Все знают и тебя и родителей и бабушек с дедушками, такое впечатление, что это одна большая семья… Больше всего мне нравятся «молодецкие игры». Они всегда проводятся на масленицу. Вся деревня собирается посмотреть. Собирают команды и проводятся соревнования по различным видам спорта, то они канат перетягивают, то гири поднимают, то на столб залазают, кто быстрее, то поют, то танцуют… Весело.…А потом соломенную бабу сжигают и блины едят.
Часто говорят, что деревенского в городе сразу видно, а я не скрываю этого. Те, кто в деревне вырос намного добрее, и с другими людьми им общаться нравится. Просто они привыкли так. Мне кажется это очень хорошо, ведь вместе люди сильнее!

My name is Maxim and I’m 14 years old. I’d like to tell you a few facts about my motherland – Russia. I was born in Atkarsk, but grew up in Saratov. My parents moved to the larger city when I was five years old. So, my school years are connected with Saratov. It’s a large city, which is a major port on Volga River. We have relatives in other cities of Russia, so we often travel around the country to see them. I’ve already been to Moscow, to Kursk, to Vladimir, to Samara and several other places. And I should say I liked all these cities. Once again they prove that Russia is a great country that offers a wide range of attractions. When I look at the map of our country, I understand that it is immense. To travel the whole country, to see its southern and northern parts, to explore its riches and sights one needs to spend years. Even Winston Churchill said about Russia that it’s a riddle wrapped in a mystery. I think he meant the charming nature and atmosphere that distinguishes Russia among other European or Asian countries. All in all, my motherland spans 11 time zones and has the population over 140 million people. The capital of the country is Moscow. It was founded in 1147 by Yuri Dolgoruky. Today it’s considered to be of the largest and most beautiful cities in the world. I’m lucky to have visited it. There are many remarkable rivers in Russia, among them, the Yenisei, the Lena, the Angara, the Neva, etc. In fact the deepest freshwater lake is also situated in Russia. It’s the lake Baikal in south-eastern Siberia. My motherland gave the world lots of famous people, among them, Yuri Gagarin, Isaak Levitan, Alexander Pushkin, Georgy Zhukov and many others. I`d like to tell you some words about my country.
I live in Russia. Russia is the largest country in the world. The official name of our country is the Russian Federation. The first President of Russia was Boris Eltcin. At the moment the Russian President is Dmitri Medvedev. The Prime Minister of my country is Vladimir Putin. V.Putin is a very popular politic. The highest law of our country is the Constitution of the Russian Federation. Moscow is the capital of our country.
The St. Petersburg is a very important city. Rostov Veliky, Suzdal, Vladimir, Zvenigorod and Yaroslavl are very important cities too. They are known as Zolotoe Koltso (the Golden Ring of Russia).
Our symbols are the threecoloured flag and the Two head eagle. The Two head eagle symbolises wisdom and strength. Colours of the flag are white, blue and red. Another our symbol is the anthem. His authors are the composer V.Aleksandrov and poet S.Mihalkov.
Russia is the famous for its people. They are Pushkin, Tchaikovsky, Levitan. Gagarin.
There is a wonderful nature in Russia. The main mountains are the Caucasus and the Altai. Volga, Yenisei, Ob are the most important rivers of my country. The Lake Baikal is situates in Russia. It is the deepest and the purest lake in the world. Our country is washed by the Atlantic ocean, Artic ocean and Pacific ocean.
What a wonderful country is my Russia! I am proud of it.
I love my Homeland. My relatives, friends and colleagues live here too, I also love them. All the inhabitants of my Homeland understand Russian, so they can communicate without any problems.
Russia is the largest state in the world. It is washed by two oceans at once. They are the Pacific and Arctic oceans and there are much more seas in Russia. On these seas Russia has a large fleet, and has the huge reserves of natural resources, such as gas, oil, gold and others. In Siberia and the Far East Russia has a large forest area with wildlife. But, despite the enormous resources, the majority part of Russia’s population is not living a wealthy life.

And Moscow is the capital of my country, it is bigger than some European countries.
Russia is a multinational country, therefore divided into federated Republics, Autonomous provinces and districts. There are about two hundred different Nations who live here. They are Russians, Tatars, Bashkirs, Kazakhs, Azeris, Ukrainians, Jews, Chukchas and many others. They are all called the Russian citizens. They should live together peacefully, because they have one and the same country. Unfortunately, it is often different. But I hope that by the time I grow up quarrels between the people of my country will finish.

Russia is unique country. Our country is well known around the world with its enormous territory, various and beautiful landscapes. In addition we have great history and cultural heritage. From generation to generation stories of great event and personalities are told. So thinking of native land we think about modern and former heroes: artists, musicians, writers and poets. I love my Russia and I proud with its endless fields, fertile forests, seas, rivers, lakes, cities and villages.
I could never leave my country. I was born here, same raised here so it became part of my life. I’m very glad to live in peaceful time. It is the opportunity to visit great school to get education, do my favorite things and stay close to my family and friends. Because homeland is not only land it’s also people that surround us in daily life. It’s bigger than one can imagine.
Deep knowledge about my country is my priority. I know it takes lots of efforts and there will be many difficulties but I’m confident about myself. As they say man is happy knowing his destination, where his should follow and how make his dreams into real. I will decorate my life with dreams having bright future ahead. And I’m really glad to live in Russia.
It’s believed that the place where we were born is significantly important for us. First of all, we are greatly influenced by people around us and we are formed by moral and cultural values existing in a particular country. Moreover, we reflect the history of our nation and experience gained through the centuries. So, I can say that “motherland” is not only the word, but it’s in fact who we are.
As for me, I was born in Russia and I’m absolutely convinced that it’s the best place for living. To start with, Russia is the largest country in the world. It is famous for its natural sources such as oil and gas as well as its cultural inheritance for the reason that Russian music, art and literature are well-known all over the world. Thus, the masterpieces of Pushkin, Chekhov, Repin, Malevich and Tchaikovsky have charmed millions of people in different parts of our planet.
However, Russia is also quite a multinational country, though all nations have a common history. In spite of the fact that the country is divided into federal republics and autonomous regions and areas, they are all united by common goals and ideology that leads to peaceful coexistence and productive collaboration of so different parts of our diverse country.
Furthermore, Russian nature dramatically varies too. One can find everything imaginable here. From enormous endless fields and forests with their unique beauty of flowers and trees to fascinating mountains, pure lakes and rivers. Here we can also see one of the symbols of our country, birch. Unity with nature brings us internal balance and energy.
Thus, I can say that I’m really proud of my country, of its history and culture. I like travelling and visiting other countries, understanding other cultures, but there is no such amazing and diverse country as Russia which is so comfortable to live in.

It is the opportunity to visit great school to get education, do my favorite things and stay close to my family and friends. Because homeland is not only land it’s also people that surround us in daily life. It’s bigger than one can imagine.
Deep knowledge about my country is my priority. I know it takes lots of efforts and there will be many difficulties but I’m confident about myself. As they say man is happy knowing his destination, where his should follow and how make his dreams into real. I will decorate my life with dreams having bright future ahead. And I’m really glad to live in Russia.

I`d like to tell you about my small Motherland. My small settlement differs little from other quiet settlement of Central Russia. Everything is simple. But the nature is nice, with wonderful and impressive landscapes. That is why the air is clean and fresh. There is a big forest, impressive and beautiful rivers. You can admire swimming and sunbathing in summer, skating and skiing in winter. The name of our settlement is Znamenka.
Znamenka was founded in 1700. In the beginning of 17 century near the river Tsna and Karian the brave people began to land this beautiful place.
In 18 century this land was presented tothe general Zagryaskiy by the Tsar for the special awards before the Motherland.
There is a museum in our settlement where Pushkin`s wife Nataly Goncharova was born.
In 1812 the Goncharovs came to Zagryaskiy saving from Napoleon. On the 27 of Augusts in 1812 in this house the future Pushkin`s wife N.N Goncharova was born.
There is the Blue Hall in our museum. It is famous for its unique acoustics system. Now there are a lot of pictures of local painters here.
There is the ancient park near the museum. It was organized by the Zagryaskiy in the 18 century in 1857. It was rebuilt by graph Stroganov. There is magnificent scenery in the park. You can admire the singing of the birds and a beauty of the landscape.
We have a nice school in our settlement. We shall celebrate the 50-th anniversary of our school in this year.
I like English very much, because we have not only good lessons but a lot of English parties. I like my English teacher Lebedeva N.V. and want to be like her. We have a nice club, where we can dance, sing songs, act. I like to dance very much. What’s more, I take an active part in the concerts of our school and our settlement.
I like my settlement and I’m proud of my small Motherland.
Я бы хотела рассказать о моей малой Родине. Мой маленький посёлок мало, чем отличается от тихих посёлков Центральной России. Всё здесь просто. Но природа прекрасная, с чудесными и восхитительными пейзажами, вот поэтому и воздух здесь чистый и свежий.
Большой лес, чудесные и прекрасные реки. Вы можете наслаждаться плаванием и загоранием летом и катанием на лыжах и коньках зимой.
Наш посёлок называется Знаменка.
Знаменка была основана 1700 году. В начале 17 века, около реки Цна храбрые люди начали заселять это прекрасное место.
В 18 веке этуземлю получил в награду от царя генерал Загряжский за особые заслуги перед Родиной.
В нашем посёлке есть музей, где родилась жена А.С. Пушкина – Натали Гончарова.
В 1812 году Гончаровы прибыли к Загряжским, спасаясь от армии Наполеона. 27 августа 1812 года, в этом доме родилась будущая жена А.С. Пушкина – Натали Гончарова.
В нашем музее есть Голубой Зал. Он знаменит своей необыкновенной акустикой. Сейчас здесь очень много выставок картин местных художников.
Около музея находится старинный парк. Он был заложен Загряжским в 18 веке в 1857 году и перестроен графом Строгановым. Великолепные пейзажи в парке. Вы можете наслаждаться пением птиц и красотой пейзажа.
У нас в посёлке прекрасная школа. Мы будем праздновать пятидесятилетие нашей школы в этом году.
Я очень люблю английский, не только потому, что у нас хорошие уроки английского языка, но и много хороших вечеров на английском.
Я люблю моего учителя английского языка Лебедеву Н.В. и хочу быть похожей на неё.
У нас есть хороший клуб, где мы можем танцевать, петь песни и заниматься театральным делом.
Я очень люблю танцевать. Более того, я принимаю активное участие в концертах школы и посёлка.

It’s believed that the place where we were born is significantly important for us. First of all, we are greatly influenced by people around us and we are formed by moral and cultural values existing in a particular country. Moreover, we reflect the history of our nation and experience gained through the centuries. So, I can say that “motherland” is not only the word, but it’s in fact who we are.
As for me, I was born in Russia and I’m absolutely convinced that it’s the best place for living. To start with, Russia is the largest country in the world. It is famous for its natural sources such as oil and gas as well as its cultural inheritance for the reason that Russian music, art and literature are well-known all over the world. Thus, the masterpieces of Pushkin, Chekhov, Repin, Malevich and Tchaikovsky have charmed millions of people in different parts of our planet.
However, Russia is also quite a multinational country, though all nations have a common history. In spite of the fact that the country is divided into federal republics and autonomous regions and areas, they are all united by common goals and ideology that leads to peaceful coexistence and productive collaboration of so different parts of our diverse country.
Furthermore, Russian nature dramatically varies too. One can find everything imaginable here. From enormous endless fields and forests with their unique beauty of flowers and trees to fascinating mountains, pure lakes and rivers. Here we can also see one of the symbols of our country, birch. Unity with nature brings us internal balance and energy.
Thus, I can say that I’m really proud of my country, of its history and culture. I like travelling and visiting other countries, understanding other cultures, but there is no such amazing and diverse country as Russia which is so comfortable to live in.

Всем известно, что место, где мы родились, является чрезвычайно важным для нас. Прежде всего, мы подвержены большому влиянию со стороны окружающих нас людей и мы формируемся под влиянием моральных и культурных ценностей той или иной страны. Кроме того, мы отражаем историю нашей нации и опыт достигнутый веками. Так, я могу сказать, что родина, это не просто слово, но и то кем мы на самом деле являемся.
Что касается меня, то я родилась в России и считаю, что это лучшая страна для проживания. Для начала, Россия — самая большая страна в мире. Она известна своими природными ресурсами, такими как нефть и газ, а также своим культурным наследием, так как русская музыка, искусство и литература хорошо известны во всем мире. Так, шедевры Пушкина, Чехова, Репина, Малевича и Чайковского очаровали миллионы людей в разных уголках нашей планеты.
Впрочем, Россия также довольно таки многонациональная страна, хотя все национальности имеют общую историю. Не смотря на тот факт, что страна разделена на федеральные республики и автономные регионы и края, все они объединены общими целями и идеологией, что ведет к мирному сосуществованию и продуктивному сотрудничеству таких разных частей нашей разнообразной страны.
К тому же, природа России отличается большим разнообразием. Здесь можно найти все, что только возможно представить. От огромных, бесконечных полей и лесов с их уникальной красотой цветов и деревьев до захватывающих гор, чистых озер и рек. Здесь также можно найти один из символов нашей страны — березу. Единение с природой приносит нам душевное равновесие и энергию.
Итак, я могу сказать, что я действительно горжусь своей страной, ее историей и культурой. Мне нравится путешествовать и посещать другие страны, узнавать другие культуры, но такой удивительной, разнообразной и комфортной для жизни страны, как Россия, нет больше нигде.
Кстати, мы открыли курсы английского языка для жителей Москвы, Санкт-Петербурга, Новосибирска! Спеши, мест не так уж много!
