The future of our planet is vague. At the same there are many down-to-earth predictions, which seem to work. At the moment we live in the new era – the 21st century. Many centuries before people have lived in harmony with nature and its riches. Today, we are facing lots of global problems, which should be approached seriously. Otherwise, our planet can turn into an uninhabited space. Most of these problems are the result of technological progress and rapid scientific development. On the one hand, it’s good to have modern advances, such as newer computers, house robots, and office equipment. On the other hand, to launch and maintain all these machines, we need lots of natural resources. Besides, the growing number of plants is extremely harmful for the surrounding nature. As I see the future of our planet, we’ll have an over-polluted environment. That’s why we’ll have to spend most of the time locked in our flats and houses. These are my personal speculations, which might be right or wrong. I see lots of mighty skyscrapers in the future. They will be equipped with all the necessary facilities, for example, with grocery stores, kindergartens and schools, fitness centers and hairdressing saloons. They will remind a city of full value in one building. Speaking about transport, I think that with such technological progress we will soon have flying cars and taxis, which will pick up the passengers from their own flats. Moreover, I think that vehicles will be computerized and self-operated, which will leave the drivers unemployed. There will be lots of new professions in the future, for example, a telesurgeon, a robot counselor, a space tourist guide, a cloning regulator etc. It sounds bizarre, but this can be our nearest future, and we should think about it today.

I guess there is no person who has never thought about what life will be in future. Future is something that worries every person, we think about our own future, the future of our family, our world and planet.
We all have very different ideas about what our future will look like. There are hundreds of films which describe various theories about this. Some of them are of course fantastic, but many are quite realistic. Many people wait for robots to do the household chores, flying cars to appear, computers to take most of the work which people do today. As for me, I hope that in future people will solve many problems of today such as discrimination, homeless people and unemployment. It will be difficult to solve environmental problems because of the growing industry but I still hope that the technical progress will make it possible to stop global warming and pollution. Talking about the distant future, maybe we can even find one more planet to live, which would be incredible. But for now it sounds like a pure fiction.
It would be wonderful if people stopped making wars. I think this is my biggest wish for the future. As John Lennon sang in his famous song Imagine: “Imagine all the people living life in peace…” – I suppose it is a good aim for humanity, to have no conflicts, nothing to kill for.

My future profession
As for me, I would like to become an interior decorator. From my point of view, it is a very creative and unusual profession. I paint very well and in addition I have a great role-model: my father is an architect and I have always wanted to follow his footsteps.

What is more, I guess, as every girl on the Earth I would like to have a big and united family. As my both parents have brothers and sisters my desire is to have two or three children. It is great to spent family weekends and holidays together with relatives and family.
My future house
Speaking about our future house, I want it to be a big, comfortable and bright one with lots of windows and 2 floors. It would be really great if we had something like forest or a lake near our cottage.
I think that it is nice and romantic to have a terrace with a wonderful look-out over the lake. I also like pets, so I am absolutely sure that we will have a dog and a cat, and maybe even a horse.
That is how I imagine my life in future. Now I must work really hard to become the person I want to be.

The question, whether our future is optimistic or not, is very urgent. It causes debates between politicians, scientists and all the mankind in common. All the points of view are understandable, but am rather pessimistic than optimistic about it.
I can`t judge about the whole world, but my environment (it`s Moscow) doesn`t give me the reason to doubt in my opinion. As far as I am concerned, the longer I live in Moscow, the more problems I face with. Firstly, it`s environmental problem, which is getting worse and worse. The new century, new technologies are turning our city into a filthy polluted mega police, where life is impossible. Maybe in future progress will be able to solve this problem, but I`m not sure. Secondly, bad life and poverty in eastern counties make their citizens immigrate to big cities and, for example, in Moscow, there are many more immigrants than native inhabitants. Because of this, the country is losing the state as a county of traditions and a cultural default is unavoidable. It also won`t be exaggeration to mention that our country is losing interest in the developments of science, which (who knows?) could save our planet.
I consider all these reasons to be true and can`t totally agree with the opposite point of view. I express my opinion on regard to Russia and there is no hope that anything will change to the better side.
To conclude everything, my attitude to our future isn`t positive. In my view, all the attempts of government to make our life better do more harm than good. Even though I try to be optimistic, I cannot help seeing that, if a miracle doesn`t happen and nothing changes, therewon`t be any hope on bright future.

To begin with, I`d like to say a few words about myself. I am thirteen. I have brown eyes and long hair. I am diligent, purposeful, and curious. I would like to be braver, better, and quieter.
I am from the north of the Caucasus. My Motherland is the Chechen Republic. I am a Kumyk. It is a small nation in the Caucasus. My religion is Islam. I have a sister and a brother. My family is large, and we are very friendly. The motto I like best is “If I know too little, I`ll strive for learning more”.
It seems to me that scientific and technological revolution will develop faster on our planet. Wars between the countries will stop, and peace between different nations will come to the world.

I hope human beings will give up bad habits, and they will realize that smoking tabacco, drinking alcohol, and using drugs are bad for their health. I believe that cigarettes, alcohol, and drugs won`t be sold on our planet in ten years.
Our planet will become cleaner if people protect the invironment. People should participate in clearing up cities. I dream of pavements and paths for people becoming wider. Parks will be built instead of factories, and a lot of new forests will be planted. The air on our planet will become cleaner and fresher.
There will be many safari parks on the Earth. People will treat animals with care. There will be agreement and balance between people and animals. I hope that poachers won`t kill endangeredand dissppearing animals. Many species are included into the Red Book of the planet now. I feel sorry for the animals which are extinct in the nature. Animals are our “lesser brothers”. People should defend animals because on the Earth there are very few rare species of animals left. If we want to have the Future, we should take care of our Present! And we should always keep it in our minds: the wildlife treats us the way we treat it.
This is what I dream of, and I want to help the planet I live on.
Для начала я хотела бы немного рассказать о себе. Мне 13 лет. У меня карие глаза и длинные волосы. Я – старательная, целеустремленная и любознательная. Мне бы хотелось быть посмелее, получше и поспокойнее.
Родом я из Северного Кавказа. Моя родина – Чеченская Республика. Я – кумычка. Кумыки – это маленький народ, проживающий на Кавказе. Моя религия называется ислам. У меня есть сестра и брат. Моя семья большая, и мы – очень дружные. Девиз, который мне нравится больше всего, это – “Если я знаю слишком мало, я буду стремиться узнать больше”.
Мне кажется, что научно-технологическая революция будет развиваться быстрее на нашей планете. Войны между странами прекратятся, и наступит мир между разными странами.
Если люди изменят свой характер, они не будут ссориться. Они будут действительно заботиться друг о друге и относиться к другим людям с уважением. Я надеюсь, что люди оставят плохие привычки и поймут, что курение табака, употребление алкоголя и наркотиков вредит их здоровью. Думаю, что через 10 лет на нашей планете сигареты, алкоголь и наркотики уже не будут продаваться.
Наша планета станет чище, если люди будут охранять окружающую среду. Люди должны участвовать в уборке городов. Я мечтаю, что тротуары и пешеходные дорожки станут шире. Вместо заводов построят парки, и посадят много новых лесов. Воздух на планете станет чище и свежее.
На Земле будет много сафари-парков. Люди будут относиться к животным с любовью. Между людьми и животными наступит согласие и равновесие. Я надеюсь, что браконьеры не будут больше убивать исчезающих и охраняемых животных. Ведь многие виды животных включены в Красную Книгу нашей планеты. Я сочувствую животным,которые исчезли как вид в природе. Ведь животные – наши “меньшие братья”. Люди должны защищать животных, потому что на Земле уже мало осталось редких животных. Если мы хотим иметь будущее, мы должны заботиться о нашем настоящем! И мы должны всегда помнить: как мы относимся к природе, так и она относится к нам!
Это – то, о чем я мечтаю, и я хочу помогать планете, на которой я живу.

На английском языке. Future Of Our Planet
The future of our planet is vague. At the same there are many down-to-earth predictions, which seem to work. At the moment we live in the new era – the 21st century. Many centuries before people have lived in harmony with nature and its riches. Today, we are facing lots of global problems, which should be approached seriously. Otherwise, our planet can turn into an uninhabited space. Most of these problems are the result of technological progress and rapid scientific development. On the one hand, it’s good to have modern advances, such as newer computers, house robots, and office equipment. On the other hand, to launch and maintain all these machines, we need lots of natural resources. Besides, the growing number of plants is extremely harmful for the surrounding nature. As I see the future of our planet, we’ll have an over-polluted environment. That’s why we’ll have to spend most of the time locked in our flats and houses. These are my personal speculations, which might be right or wrong. I see lots of mighty skyscrapers in the future. They will be equipped with all the necessary facilities, for example, with grocery stores, kindergartens and schools, fitness centers and hairdressing saloons. They will remind a city of full value in one building. Speaking about transport, I think that with such technological progress we will soon have flying cars and taxis, which will pick up the passengers from their own flats. Moreover, I think that vehicles will be computerized and self-operated, which will leave the drivers unemployed. There will be lots of new professions in the future, for example, a telesurgeon, a robot counselor, a space tourist guide, a cloning regulator etc. It sounds bizarre, but this can be our nearest future, and we should think about it today.

Будущее нашей планеты немного расплывчато. В то же время есть много реалистичных прогнозов, которые сбываются. На данный момент мы живем в новой эре – 21-м веке. Много веков назад люди жили в гармонии с природой и ее богатствами. Сегодня мы сталкиваемся со многими глобальными проблемами, к которым нужно подходить серьезно. В противном случае, наша планета может превратиться в необитаемое пространство. Большинство из этих проблем являются результатом технического прогресса и быстрого развития науки. С одной стороны, современные достижения, такие как новейшие компьютеры, домашние роботы и офисная оргтехника, это хорошо. С другой стороны, для создания и поддержания всех этих машин требуется много природных ресурсов. Помимо этого, возрастающее число заводов чрезвычайно вредно для окружающей природы. Я вижу, что в будущем наша планета станет загрязненной. Вот почему мы будем проводить большую часть времени в своих квартирах и домах. Это мои личные догадки, которые могут быть правильными или нет. Я вижу в будущем множество могучих небоскребов. Они будут оснащены всеми необходимыми удобствами, например, продуктовыми магазинами, детскими садами и школами, фитнес-центрами и парикмахерскими. Они будут напоминать полноценный город в одном здании. Говоря о транспорте, я думаю, что с таким техническим прогрессом у нас скоро будут летающие автомобили и такси, которые будут забирать пассажиров из собственных квартир. Более того, я думаю, что транспортные средства будут компьютеризированы и самоуправляемы, что оставит водителей без работы. В будущем будет много новых профессий, таких как удаленный хирург, советник по роботам, космический гид, регулятор клонирование и т.д. Возможно, это звучит странно, но это может быть наше ближайшее будущее, и мы должны подумать об этом сегодня.

I guess there is no person who has never thought about what life will be in future. Future is something that worries every person, we think about our own future, the future of our family, our world and planet.
We all have very different ideas about what our future will look like. There are hundreds of films which describe various theories about this. Some of them are of course fantastic, but many are quite realistic. Many people wait for robots to do the household chores, flying cars to appear, computers to take most of the work which people do today. As for me, I hope that in future people will solve many problems of today such as discrimination, homeless people and unemployment. It will be difficult to solve environmental problems because of the growing industry but I still hope that the technical progress will make it possible to stop global warming and pollution. Talking about the distant future, maybe we can even find one more planet to live, which would be incredible. But for now it sounds like a pure fiction.
It would be wonderful if people stopped making wars. I think this is my biggest wish for the future. As John Lennon sang in his famous song Imagine: “Imagine all the people living life in peace…” – I suppose it is a good aim for humanity, to have no conflicts, nothing to kill for.
I believe every person can contribute to our common future and make it better.

Я считаю, что нет такого человека, который никогда бы не думал о том, какой будет наша жизнь в будущем. Будущее – это то, что волнует каждого, мы думаем о своем будущем, будущем нашей семьи и всего мира и планеты.
У нас совершенно разные идеи о том, как будет выглядеть наше будущее. Существуют сотни фильмов, описывающих различные теории об этом. Некоторые, конечно, фантастические, но многие достаточно реалистичны. Большое количество людей ждут пока роботы начнут выполнять работу по дому, пока появятся летающие машины, пока компьютеры начнут выполнять большинство работы, которую сегодня выполняют люди. Лично я надеюсь, что в будущем люди решат многие проблемы сегодняшней жизни, такие как дискриминация, бездомные люди и безработица. Будет сложно решить экологические проблемы из-за развития индустрии, но я все же надеюсь, что технический прогресс даст возможность остановить глобальное потепление и загрязнение. Говоря о далеком будущем, может быть, мы даже найдем другую планету для жизни, что было бы невероятно здорово. Но сейчас это больше похоже на фантастику.
Было бы здорово, если бы люди перестали воевать. Думаю, это самое большое мое пожелание о будущем. Как пел Джон Леннон в своей знаменитой песне «Imagine»: «Представьте, что все люди живут в мире…» – думаю, это хорошая цель для человечества – чтобы не было конфликтов, нет было причин убивать.
Думаю, каждый человек может внести что-то хорошее в наше общее будущее и сделать его лучше.
My future profession
As for me, I would like to become an interior decorator. From my point of view, it is a very creative and unusual profession. I paint very well and in addition I have a great role-model: my father is an architect and I have always wanted to follow his footsteps.
My future family
What is more, I guess, as every girl on the Earth I would like to have a big and united family. As my both parents have brothers and sisters my desire is to have two or three children. It is great to spent family weekends and holidays together with relatives and family.
My future house
Speaking about our future house, I want it to be a big, comfortable and bright one with lots of windows and 2 floors. It would be really great if we had something like forest or a lake near our cottage.
I think that it is nice and romantic to have a terrace with a wonderful look-out over the lake. I also like pets, so I am absolutely sure that we will have a dog and a cat, and maybe even a horse.
That is how I imagine my life in future. Now I must work really hard to become the person I want to be.

My planet is called Catherine, and it is always warm there. The sun shines brightly, and there is very little wind. People are happy here. They have comfortable homes, villas and cars that fly in the sky. People are working four days a week and have rest. Everyone has his own garden or vegetable garden, full of exotic and sometimes unusual fruits and vegetables, for example: pineapple guavas, apples, chili peppers, big peppers, mangos, citrus and some others. Children go to school and sports sections. On my planet there are a lot of interesting and exciting games that are similar to Earth`s: football – manyball, football – handball and so on. People almost never get sick here, because they protect themselves from viruses: drink vitamins and do exercises. People`s favorite holiday is new year. They love to decorate their homes, put Christmas tree and give each other gifts because they are very friendly and amicable.
Моя планета называется Катрин, и на ней всегда тепло. Здесь солнце светит ярко, и очень мало ветра. Люди здесь счастливы. У них есть удобные дома, дачи и автомобили, которые летают в небе. Люди работают четыре дня в неделю, а остальные три дня отдыхают. У каждого человека есть свой сад или огород, с экзотическими, а иногда и необычными фруктами и овощами, например: фейхоа, яблоки, красный стручковый перец, большой перец, манго, цитрусовые и многие другие. Дети ходят в школу и спортивные секции. На моей планете есть много интересных и захватывающих игр, которые похожи на земные: футбол – многоболл, гандбол – рукоболл и так далее. Люди здесь, почти никогда не болеют, потому что они защищают себя от вирусов: пьют витамины и делают физические упражнения. Любимый праздник людей – это новый год. Они любят украшать свои дома, ставить елку и дарить друг другу подарки, потому что они очень дружелюбны и дружны.

The question, whether our future is optimistic or not, is very urgent. It causes debates between politicians, scientists and all the mankind in common. All the points of view are understandable, but am rather pessimistic than optimistic about it.
I can`t judge about the whole world, but my environment (it`s Moscow) doesn`t give me the reason to doubt in my opinion. As far as I am concerned, the longer I live in Moscow, the more problems I face with. Firstly, it`s environmental problem, which is getting worse and worse. The new century, new technologies are turning our city into a filthy polluted mega police, where life is impossible. Maybe in future progress will be able to solve this problem, but I`m not sure. Secondly, bad life and poverty in eastern counties make their citizens immigrate to big cities and, for example, in Moscow, there are many more immigrants than native inhabitants. Because of this, the country is losing the state as a county of traditions and a cultural default is unavoidable. It also won`t be exaggeration to mention that our country is losing interest in the developments of science, which (who knows?) could save our planet.
I consider all these reasons to be true and can`t totally agree with the opposite point of view. I express my opinion on regard to Russia and there is no hope that anything will change to the better side.
To conclude everything, my attitude to our future isn`t positive. In my view, all the attempts of government to make our life better do more harm than good. Even though I try to be optimistic, I cannot help seeing that, if a miracle doesn`t happen and nothing changes, therewon`t be any hope on bright future.

Я не могу судить обо всем мире, но моя окружающая среда (это Москва) не дает мне оснований сомневаться в моем мнении. Насколько я могу судить, чем дольше я живу в Москве, тем с большим количеством проблем я сталкиваюсь. Во-первых это экологическая проблема, которая становится все хуже и хуже. Новое столетие, новые технологии превращают наш город в грязный мегаполис, где жизнь невозможна. Может быть в будущем прогресс сможет решить эту проблему, но я не уверена. Во-вторых, плохая жизнь и нищета в восточных странах заставляют их граждан иммигрировать в большие города, и, например, в Москве, намного больше иммигрантов, чем коренных жителей. Из-за этого страна теряет статус государства с традициями и культурный упадок является неизбежным. Также не будет преувеличением упомянуть, что наша страна теряет интерес к развитию науки, которая (кто знает?) могла бы спасти нашу планету.
Я считаю все эти причины быть правдивыми и не могу полностью согласиться с противоположной точки зрения. Я выражаю мое мнение в отношении России, и нет никакой надежды, что что-нибудь изменится в лучшую сторону.
В заключение, мое отношение к нашему будущему не позитивно. На мой взгляд, все попытки правительства сделать нашу жизнь лучше приносят больше вреда, чем пользы. Даже несмотря на то, что я пытаюсь быть оптимистичной, я не могу не видеть, что, если не произойдет чудо и ничего не изменится, не будет никаких надежд на светлое будущее.
