I think that nowadays English studying is a very important phenomenon. English language became an international language. English occupies leading position among such languages as Russian, Chinese, Spanish, Arabic and French – it is the official languages of the UN. All large companies such as air and sea companies use this language. I guess that in future all people will speak English. My mother says that every educated person should know foreign language or may be some foreign languages. I think that people who know English can visit different countries without problems, because English gives a possibility to communicate with foreign people. Today many people study English. Some of them because of work necessity, they need to make agreements and many different documents. Also a lot of people travel abroad. And for other people language studying is a hobby. They just want to wide their outlook.
My father says that English is widespread. English is a very useful language, because, 80 percent of communications between a person and a computer are in English. Also, nearly half of all business deals in Europe are conducted in English. I guess that English is studied as foreign language in many schools all over the world.
As for me, I study English because I want to be an interpreter. I guess that it is an interesting work. If you work as an interpreter you can met new people, communicate with them and make friend with some of them. Also I study English because I want to understand many people from different countries, I want to read English books in the original, I want to listen songs of foreign groups and to understand them, I want to watch different TV programs. I think that in future I`ll get a possibility to visit USA or England. It would be interesting experience. I like to study English. I like to find out the origin of words, also I like to compare English and Russian words, often they are almost identical. English studying is very interesting and informative.

I love reading and I love English. Reading in English allows me to meet both of my interests. It is such a wonderful feeling to plunge into the world of fiction. Reading in English enlarges one’s vocabulary and teaches to think differently.
I also like watching English films. This gives me an opportunity to listen to different people and get to know different dialects of the English language. Watching films in English also helps me learn spoken language which people use in their everyday life.
Apart from that, I love talking to other people in English. I do not often meet foreigners in my day-to-day life, but I try to make friends with them when I go on holidays or attend some events. I also look for friends online. This communication gives me an opportunity to practise my speaking. I must say that sometimes it is not easy. It is hard work to express your own thoughts and make other people understand you. But I am doing well.
Writing is another aspect of the English language which requires attention. I enjoy writing in English. Unlike speaking, writing is a chance to express your thoughts in a more profound way. When you write, you can polish every word to perfection.
I believe that whatever your hobby is, it inspires and opens up possibilities. Everything you achieve gives you motivation for further move. I love English. I will learn it and I will go deep into it because there is so much more in it!
Английский – интернациональный язык. На нем говорит большое количество людей во всем мире. Английский преподают в школах, университетах и даже детских садах. Я начала учить английский в школе. Мне нравилось знакомиться с английской культурой и узнавать традиции англичан. Очень скоро мои знания вышли за рамки школьной программы. С тех пор английский язык стал моим любимым.
Я люблю читать, и я люблю английский. Чтение на английском позволяет мне удовлетворить оба интереса. Это такое удивительное ощущение погрузиться в мир художественной литературы. Чтение на английском расширяет словарный запас и учит мыслить по-другому.

Я считаю, каким бы ни было хобби, оно окрыляет и открывает новые возможности. Все, чего достигаешь, дает мотивацию для дальнейшего движения. Я люблю английский. Я буду учить его и углубляться в него, потому что в нем есть еще столько всего!

Мой любимый предмет в школе – это английский язык. Я изучаю английский уже 5 лет. Сегодня английский занимает особое место в моей жизни. Изучение английского означает получение обширных знаний о целой культуре. Мы не только учимся, как писать, читать и говорить, но также узнаем о привычках и традициях англичан, открываем для себя разные страны, города и другое.
Я также хожу на дополнительные занятия по английскому языку. Благодаря им я теперь могу читать некоторые книги в оригинале. Чтение книг на английском помогает увеличить словарный запас и обогатить знания. Я надеюсь, что однажды я смогу прочитать мои любимые книги о Гарри Поттере на английском.
Я также люблю смотреть фильмы на английском языке. Устная речь и письменная речь – два совершенно разных понятия. Каждый человек имеет свою особенность речи. Иногда можно услышать диалекты, которые не так легко понять. Дома у меня есть небольшая коллекция фильмов на английском языке. Я уже просмотрел их несколько раз. Каждый раз, когда я смотрю фильм, я понимаю больше и больше. Я считаю, что просмотр фильмов на английском является отличным упражнением для тренировки слуха.
Помимо этого, я люблю слушать музыку. Я так рад, что сейчас я могу не только наслаждаться своей любимой музыкой, но и стараться понять, о чем эти песни.
Недавно я вступил в английский клуб. Это место, куда может прийти каждый, кому интересен английский язык. Там у меня уже появилось несколько друзей. Там есть небольшая библиотека с книгами и DVD-дисками, которые можно брать домой. Там также есть доска информации, на которой можно найти сообщения о предстоящих событиях на английском языке, которые будут происходить в городе. Скоро по исторической части города будут проводится прогулки с гидом на английском языке.
Я очень счастлив, что английский язык сделал мою жизнь такой интересной!

Мне нравиться одна пословица Йогана Гете: “Тот, кто не знает иностранных языков, не знает ничего про свой родной язык”. Я разговариваю на украинском, русском, английском, немного на итальянском и испанском. И я очень горжусь этим, потому что языки – это моя вторая жизнь. Также, я бы хотела выучить немецкий, французский и сербский, но в этом году я посвящаю себя изучению итальянского. Вы знаете, мечта моего детства – быть переводчиком и я уверенна я буду.
Лично я думаю, что знать иностранные языки сегодня это абсолютно необходимо для каждого образованного человека, для каждого хорошого специалиста. Поэтому, давайте учить иностранные языки и открывать с ними много интересных вещей в нашей жизни!

Let me introduce myself, my name is Olga Petrova. I was born in the 19 th of February, 1994 in Kursk, which is the town of Russia. I am sixteen. I am a pupil. I study in the 11 th form. Our family is big. There are four of us: mother, father, little brother and me.
My brother`s name is Anton. He is 11. Anton is nice and funny.
My parents are young. My mom is a good-looking woman. She is 39. She has two high educations. She works as economist. My mother likes reading books and magazines and she knows a lot of interesting things. She always helps me with my problems.
My father is 41. He is a journalist. He likes his work very much. My father cooks well too. He always makes new dishes and they are very tasty.
In the evening all members of our family like to watch TV. Sometimes we go to the theater or concert. We are a friendly family. We are deeply attached to each other, and we get on very well.
I study well. My favorite school subjects are English, Russian, Literature and others. I want to learn Spanish and French too.
It is important to have friends. My friends name is Oksana. She lives not far from me. It’s not easy to meet a true and faithful friend. I am happy that I have got Oksana. I trust her and I’m sure that I can rely on her in any situation. She is the single person who can ask for help and advice in unhappy moments of my life and whom I can tell all my problems. She never lets people down. I miss Oksana when we don’t see each other for a long time. I think our friendship makes me feel confident; share to over feelings and opinions. Personally, I think that friendship is a great force.
There are many interesting and exciting things to do when you are spending your free time. Each person has his interests and hobbies such as reading books, watching TV, going in for sports. As for me, I have many hobbies: they are – cooking, dancing, singing, and English language. I also fond of reading books. My favorite books are adventures and horror, love stories. When I am reading book I live the character`s life, suffer, and enjoy with them. My favorite hobby is studying English. I think it is necessary to have a hobby. Your free time is not wasted.
Everybody likes music – some people enjoy classical music, others are fond of popular music. Open-minded, I like all kinds of music. I am a meloman. Some music is happy, and some is sad. Some is serious, and some can make people laugh.
My family likes holidays a lot. We usually celebrate each of them with a lot of food and presents and big groups of relatives and friends.
I like New Year very much. My mother and I usually decorate a New Year tree with colorful glass balls and toys. I also cook New Year supper, especially salads. At night we have a real feast.
My other favorite celebration is my birthday which is in February. This day I am in the centre of attention. My parents and friends give me presents, and I usually have birthday party. I invite my friends and we have fun together. I really enjoy holidays and celebrations.
In early childhood it does not take children much time to answer the question «what do you want to be when you grow up?». They mentioned many interesting and exciting professions, the most popular ones are a pilot, a cosmonaut, a businessman. As the years pass, they change their minds.
I know there are many interesting and useful professions but most of all I like the profession of an interpreter. Why? Because I like English language. It is necessary to learn foreign languages. That is why pupils have got such subject as a foreign language at school. Everybody knows his own language but it is useful to know foreign languages too. I want to read in original literature.
I like to travel, but it is difficult to visit countries, when you do not know the language spoken there. If I know the language of the country which I am going to visit it will be easy to travel there. If I want to ask something, I can do it in English. There are international friendship camps in the world. If you can speak foreign languages, it will be easy for you to visit such camps and speak with people there. I think that English will be my future career because I am good at this language.

In addition, animals become very aggressive and unpredictable as they get older and often attack zoo keepers and other people.
However, most people think that zoos help endangered species survive. But this is not true because most rare animals are extremely difficult to breed in captivity. Besides, in zoos, it is almost impossible to meet the animals’ natural needs. Another argument for keeping animals in zoos is that people learn something new about these animals. Actually, zoos do not teach us much because animals do not act the way they would in the wild. I think we can learn more about animals by watching wildlife programs on TV.
In conclusion, I would argue that zoos do not seem to help endangered species and keeping animals behind bars only for the sake of our entertainment is not quite fair. In my opinion, people must create nature reserves, where wild animals will be able to live in their natural environment.

What is more, English teachers do not speak Russian so if you don’t know English well, you will not understand their explanation.

However, I doubt that we will have lots of opportunities to speak abroad as we do not know many people there. It is also believed that Russian teachers are not as qualified as those in England. I totally disagree with this opinion because Russian teachers can compare two languages and explain grammar rules better.
To sum up, I would argue that the best way to learn a language is to study it in your native country because you can always get the necessary help from your teachers. To begin with, computers can store lots of books in their memory and modern software allows us to find quickly the necessary information. Besides, with the interactive programs on computers studying will be much more exciting. What is more, electronic books will not degrade overtime like their printed counterparts. On the other hand, lots of disbelievers argue that computers will not replace printed books because a printed book is better for human eyes than a computer screen. In addition, books are cheaper and easier to use since they do not need electricity or the Internet connection. I cannot agree with this because modern computer screens emit no radiation and allow us to read even in low light conditions. Of course we will have to pay for electricity but I think it will be cheaper than to pay for printed books, which are very expensive nowadays.
To sum up, I think computers and printed books will peacefully coexist for years to come, but in the future technological progress will make it possible for students to carry laptops or even palmtops instead of traditional bags with lots of heavy books.

So, to improve my English I listen to the radio programmes, listen to the English songs and poems, I watch Englishfilms on TV, communicate with my English friend on the Internet, read compositions on the Internet and now as a result I am participating in the International competition in English. But the most important thing ,in my opinion, is speaking fluently. But it`s not an easy task as it might seen. That`s why I do all my best to learn English grammar well and to have good speaking skills.Certainly I haven`t mustered everything in English but I am absolutely sure that in a few years my command of the language will be perfect.
English is a wondreful language. The great German poet Goethe once said “He, who knows no foreign language, does not know his own one”.Indeed, knowledge of foreign language expands the knowledge of native one.And I fully agree that native language enrriches the knowledge of foreign languages.
So, if you want to be a well educated person and to succeed in your career study English and your world will become wider.

Изучение иностранных языков особенно важно в нашей стране. Можно сделать вывод, что сегодня английский очень важен для каждого человека. Что касается меня я очень люблю английский. Я начала изучать его 9 лет назад и я получаю удовольствие от изучения этого языка. Мне все нравится в ангийском: произношение, интонация, песни и лирика. Жаль ,что очень мало уроков английского в школе. Чтобы улучшить зания в аглийском я слушаю радио передачи, английские песни и читаю стихи,смотрю английские фильмы по телевизору, общаюсь с иностранным другом по интерннету, читаю рассказы на английском, и, как результат, я участвую в международном конкурсе.
На мой взгляд самое важное – это говорить бегло. Это не легкая задача, как кажется на первый взгляд. Вот почему я делаю все возможное, чтобы выучить английскую грамматику и иметь хорошие навыки в говорении. Я еще не очень хорошо знаю язык, но я думаю, что через несколько лет я буду хорошо владеть им.
Английский – замечательный язык. Великий поэт Гетте однажды сказал:” Тот,кто не знает иностранного языка, тот не знает своего родного”. И в самом деле, знание иностранных языков расширяет знание родного. Я полностью согласна,что родной язык обогащает знание иностранного языка.

God gave language to people for communication. For a while there was one language, and it served its purpose. Later when the mankind decided to build the Tower of Babel, God got angry, and made people speak different languages. At first it seemed to be bad, but in fact it was a chance to study different languages.
«How many languages you know – that many times you are a person», ancient wise men said. And it is so, for command of other languages, along with one`s native language, gives the chance not only to get acquainted with the culture of different nations, but also to learn more deeply the beauty and uniqueness of one`s own heritage. And all this makes a person`s life richer and more brightly coloured.
Today English is one of the most widespread languages of our Universe. There is no airport or a flight service, technology or sports in the world that isn`t dominated by English. It is also the universal language of the Internet as the majority of electronic books and information can be found in this language.
Why do I study English language? For me this question has several answers and each of them is important to me. I want to learn English to visit those places of the United Kingdom where films of my idol, Harry Potter, were shot.
I plan to study at a foreign university, and the majority of educational institutions admit foreign students on the basis of English proficiency. And the abundant majority of educational information is in English, so the knowledge of this language is necessary for me.
These are my ambitious plans. Now my knowledge of English allows me to have friends abroad, but tomorrow I will need to know English better to find friends on a professional level, to get acquainted with culture and history of their countries. And I will be happy to open my world, my ancient native land to them. Having studied English, I will be able to read my favourite books in the original, to attend film screenings without translation, to understand TV and radio programs in authentic English.
English language is my future. It will make my world more interesting and pleasant.
Learning A new language
Learning a new language is not easy. So when we want to learn the language, we should be confident and should not be shy. Therefore, we should practice language as much as we can. To learn language we should follow certain steps.
As matter as fact, students who wish to learn the language should follow certain steps. First, we should listen to the new language as much as possible. We have better listening to a native speaker that because we will learn pronunciation correctly. Also, we can use radio, audio programmes and watching T.V in listening language. Moreover, we should try ad much as possible listening to the language four hours everyday.
Second, to speak a new language we should be confident. For example, we should be confident and do not fear of our mistakes when we speak. Therefore, If we shy and do not want to make a mistake, we can not speak because we are afraid to make a mistake.
Third, read in the language as much as we can. For instance, read from general books which have topics we like it. Also, read from children’s books and read from magazines.
Fourth, to learn writing we should draw our planning and think of what we want to write about. In addition to that we can learn writing by writing our daily.
To conclude, we should practice these skills as much as we can. In addition to that if we have desire we can overcome the abstracts that we face when learning language.

I think that any educated person must learn foreign languages. But I prefer English to other foreign languages. Why? English is becoming a global language. A half of billion people in the world use English at home or work. English is the language which is known for the most part of our fine, magnificent and surprising world. English is so widespread that it has become the standard language for all kinds of international communication.
A lot of problems of the 21st century, such as the problems of war and peace, ecology, can not be solved without speaking the same language.
The English language is now the first language of about 350 million people, the native language of 12 nations and the official language of more than 33 nations. It means that one of seven people in the world speaks English.
Some people learn English because they need it in their work; others to travel aboard and for lots of people learning English is just a hobby.
I have been learning English since the age of 11. I like learning English very much. But I like and know well my native language, Russian. The great German poet Goethe once said: “He, who knows no foreign language, does not know his own one.” I agree with him. The knowledge of English helps me to learn Russian. I do test and listen to English speech on the disks. At home I’ve got more than one book in English. Every day I learn many words, that is, enrich my vocabulary. Язык необходим для путешествий, для общения с иностранцами. Если ты будешь знать язык, то тебе не придется задавать много вопросов иностранцам, посещать разные скучные экскурсии, а ты сможешь путешествовать самостоятельно.
Благодаря знанию языка, можно подружиться с друзьями из других стран. Ты сможешь с ними общаться, узнавать что-то новое, улучшать свои навыки знания языка.
Сейчас многие фильмы и книги выходят на английском, но пока их переводят, проходит много времени. Поэтому при знании английского можно сразу смотреть оригиналы фильмов, ведь это гораздо интереснее и увлекательнее, да и к тому же переводы бывают неточными. Я решаю тесты, слушаю английскую речь на дисках. Дома у меня есть не одна книга по английскому языку. Каждый день я учу как можно больше слов, то есть обогащаю свой словарный запас. Я хожу к реиетитору, совершенствую знание языка. Также участвую в конкурсах и в моей копилке уже есть несколько грамот.
Вместо того чтобы долгое время проводить в социальных сетях, я смотрю разные сайты по английскому, выполняю интересные тесты.
Пока мой багаж знаний еще не очень велик, но я уверена, что при регулярных занятиях и тренировках он увеличится. Я уверена, что у меня все получится!

I think that nowadays English studying is a very important phenomenon. English language became an international language. English occupies leading position among such languages as Russian, Chinese, Spanish, Arabic and French – it is the official languages of the UN. All large companies such as air and sea companies use this language. I guess that in future all people will speak English. My mother says that every educated person should know foreign language or may be some foreign languages. I think that people who know English can visit different countries without problems, because English gives a possibility to communicate with foreign people. Today many people study English. Some of them because of work necessity, they need to make agreements and many different documents. Also a lot of people travel abroad. And for other people language studying is a hobby. They just want to wide their outlook.
My father says that English is widespread. English is a very useful language, because, 80 percent of communications between a person and a computer are in English. Also, nearly half of all business deals in Europe are conducted in English. I guess that English is studied as foreign language in many schools all over the world.
As for me, I study English because I want to be an interpreter. I guess that it is an interesting work. If you work as an interpreter you can met new people, communicate with them and make friend with some of them. Also I study English because I want to understand many people from different countries, I want to read English books in the original, I want to listen songs of foreign groups and to understand them, I want to watch different TV programs. I think that in future I`ll get a possibility to visit USA or England. It would be interesting experience. I like to study English. I like to find out the origin of words, also I like to compare English and Russian words, often they are almost identical. English studying is very interesting and informative.

I love reading and I love English. Reading in English allows me to meet both of my interests. It is such a wonderful feeling to plunge into the world of fiction. Reading in English enlarges one’s vocabulary and teaches to think differently.
I also like watching English films. This gives me an opportunity to listen to different people and get to know different dialects of the English language. Watching films in English also helps me learn spoken language which people use in their everyday life.
Apart from that, I love talking to other people in English. I do not often meet foreigners in my day-to-day life, but I try to make friends with them when I go on holidays or attend some events. I also look for friends online. This communication gives me an opportunity to practise my speaking. I must say that sometimes it is not easy. It is hard work to express your own thoughts and make other people understand you. But I am doing well.
Writing is another aspect of the English language which requires attention. I enjoy writing in English. Unlike speaking, writing is a chance to express your thoughts in a more profound way. When you write, you can polish every word to perfection.
I believe that whatever your hobby is, it inspires and opens up possibilities. Everything you achieve gives you motivation for further move. I love English. I will learn it and I will go deep into it because there is so much more in it!

Мой любимый предмет в школе – это английский язык. Я изучаю английский уже 5 лет. Сегодня английский занимает особое место в моей жизни. Изучение английского означает получение обширных знаний о целой культуре. Мы не только учимся, как писать, читать и говорить, но также узнаем о привычках и традициях англичан, открываем для себя разные страны, города и другое.
Я также хожу на дополнительные занятия по английскому языку. Благодаря им я теперь могу читать некоторые книги в оригинале. Чтение книг на английском помогает увеличить словарный запас и обогатить знания. Я надеюсь, что однажды я смогу прочитать мои любимые книги о Гарри Поттере на английском.
Я также люблю смотреть фильмы на английском языке. Устная речь и письменная речь – два совершенно разных понятия. Каждый человек имеет свою особенность речи. Иногда можно услышать диалекты, которые не так легко понять. Дома у меня есть небольшая коллекция фильмов на английском языке. Я уже просмотрел их несколько раз. Каждый раз, когда я смотрю фильм, я понимаю больше и больше. Я считаю, что просмотр фильмов на английском является отличным упражнением для тренировки слуха.

Скоро по исторической части города будут проводится прогулки с гидом на английском языке.

Мне нравиться одна пословица Йогана Гете: “Тот, кто не знает иностранных языков, не знает ничего про свой родной язык”. Я разговариваю на украинском, русском, английском, немного на итальянском и испанском. И я очень горжусь этим, потому что языки – это моя вторая жизнь. Также, я бы хотела выучить немецкий, французский и сербский, но в этом году я посвящаю себя изучению итальянского. Вы знаете, мечта моего детства – быть переводчиком и я уверенна я буду.
Лично я думаю, что знать иностранные языки сегодня это абсолютно необходимо для каждого образованного человека, для каждого хорошого специалиста. Поэтому, давайте учить иностранные языки и открывать с ними много интересных вещей в нашей жизни!

Let me introduce myself, my name is Olga Petrova. I was born in the 19 th of February, 1994 in Kursk, which is the town of Russia. I am sixteen. I am a pupil. I study in the 11 th form. Our family is big. There are four of us: mother, father, little brother and me.
My brother`s name is Anton. He is 11. Anton is nice and funny.

There are many interesting and exciting things to do when you are spending your free time. Each person has his interests and hobbies such as reading books, watching TV, going in for sports. As for me, I have many hobbies: they are – cooking, dancing, singing, and English language. I also fond of reading books. My favorite books are adventures and horror, love stories. When I am reading book I live the character`s life, suffer, and enjoy with them. My favorite hobby is studying English. I think it is necessary to have a hobby. Your free time is not wasted.
Everybody likes music – some people enjoy classical music, others are fond of popular music. Open-minded, I like all kinds of music. I am a meloman. Some music is happy, and some is sad. Some is serious, and some can make people laugh.
My family likes holidays a lot. We usually celebrate each of them with a lot of food and presents and big groups of relatives and friends.
I like New Year very much. My mother and I usually decorate a New Year tree with colorful glass balls and toys. I also cook New Year supper, especially salads. At night we have a real feast.
My other favorite celebration is my birthday which is in February. This day I am in the centre of attention. My parents and friends give me presents, and I usually have birthday party. I invite my friends and we have fun together. I really enjoy holidays and celebrations.
In early childhood it does not take children much time to answer the question «what do you want to be when you grow up?». They mentioned many interesting and exciting professions, the most popular ones are a pilot, a cosmonaut, a businessman. As the years pass, they change their minds.
I know there are many interesting and useful professions but most of all I like the profession of an interpreter. Why? Because I like English language. It is necessary to learn foreign languages. That is why pupils have got such subject as a foreign language at school. Everybody knows his own language but it is useful to know foreign languages too. I want to read in original literature.
I like to travel, but it is difficult to visit countries, when you do not know the language spoken there. If I know the language of the country which I am going to visit it will be easy to travel there. If I want to ask something, I can do it in English. There are international friendship camps in the world. If you can speak foreign languages, it will be easy for you to visit such camps and speak with people there. I think that English will be my future career because I am good at this language.

Используйте формальный стиль письма:
не пользуйтесь сокращениями (don’t, can’t, I’m, it’s),
не используйте скобки или восклицательные знаки — это свойственно неформальному стилю письма;
не начинайте предложения со слов and, but или also; в разговорном языке вы можете их использовать, но избегайте этого в сочинении;
не употребляйте вводные слова, характерные для неформального стиля (well, to tell the truth и др.);
избегайте слишком простых предложений; объединяйте их в сложные, используя логические средства связи.

Разделите текст на смысловые абзацы в соответствии с предложенным в задании планом.
В первом абзаце сформулируйте проблему, которую вы будете обсуждать, однако не повторяйте тему сочинения слово в слово. Представьте, что ваш читатель не знает, о чем пойдет речь, и попытайтесь объяснить ему проблему другими словами.
Выделите положительные и отрицательные стороны проблемы, подумайте о разумных аргументах, в поддержку обеих точек зрения. Структура по частям
Заголовок — название эссе, которое отражает тему повествования.
Введение — 2-4 коротких предложения, которые раскрывают тему эссе.
Основная часть — 2-3 абзаца, которые описывают суть сочинения. Максимально полно и грамотно раскройте тему, приведите доводы и аргументируйте их.
Заключение — 2-4 предложения, которые подводят итог. Общий вывод по теме.
В основной части сочинения все абзацы начинаются с вводного предложения (Topic Sentence) – введения. Далее мысль Topic Sentence развивается и подтверждается.
Объем сочинения должен составлять 200-250 слов. При этом артикль – это тоже слово, поэтому не слишком увлекайтесь с развитием идей, постарайтесь удержаться в заданных рамках.

No doubt that learning languages takes up a lot of time. That is why some people think that it would be better to have only one language on our planet. But will it be really beneficial for mankind?
In my opinion, the reduction of the number of languages is a disaster because it will totally destroy our great cultural heritage. With each loss of a language comes a loss of a culture, a loss of a way of life that deserves to be protected and treated as valuable. I also believe that leaving one language for communication will greatly reduce the linguistic diversity of our planet, which is the key to our survival. What is more, it will be rather difficult to choose which language to use and it may even lead to wars.
Many people think that if we have only one language, communication will become easier and there will be no need to learn foreign languages. I cannot agree with them because knowledge of foreign languages makes a person educated and well rounded. You cannot broaden your mind if you see the world only from the perspective of your own culture. Besides, people are a lot more helpful if you speak their language.
In conclusion, I would argue that we should try our best to preserve the linguistic diversity of our planet. I think that larger cultures should have a respect for minority languages, but first of all the younger generation must want to preserve their native language.

I strongly believe that we should not keep animals in zoos because captivity is not natural for them and it is a constant stress to a wild animal. Keeping animals in zoos harms them by denying them freedom of movement and association. What is more, zoos are like prisons for animals as they live in small cages and do not get necessary food. In addition, animals become very aggressive and unpredictable as they get older and often attack zoo keepers and other people.
However, most people think that zoos help endangered species survive. But this is not true because most rare animals are extremely difficult to breed in captivity. Besides, in zoos, it is almost impossible to meet the animals’ natural needs. Another argument for keeping animals in zoos is that people learn something new about these animals. Actually, zoos do not teach us much because animals do not act the way they would in the wild. I think we can learn more about animals by watching wildlife programs on TV.
In conclusion, I would argue that zoos do not seem to help endangered species and keeping animals behind bars only for the sake of our entertainment is not quite fair. In my opinion, people must create nature reserves, where wild animals will be able to live in their natural environment.

In my opinion, cars should not be allowed into the city centers as they add to pollution and poison the air we breathe. We must also think about the people who live in the center and suffer from the noise made by cars. Moreover, the streets in the center are usually narrow therefore people are often stuck in traffic for many hours and, as a result, arrive late at their destination. Final-ly, with ho cars in city centers, there would be no need for large ugly car parks, which would allow more space for parks. However, many people believe we would not be able to survive without cars because most of the products for shops and other businesses are transported by cars. Besides, they are afraid that public transport would be overloaded. I am sure it is possible to solve these problems by introducing a reliable high frequency tram service as well as developing the underground. As for goods, we could use electric vehicles for their delivery.
To sum up, I believe that a clean, reliable and environmentally friendly public service would encourage people to use public transport and help smooth the transition to a car-free zone.

Nowadays people spend lots of money in order to go to an English-speaking country to improve their language skills. But is it really the most effective way of learning a language? In my view, studying in a foreign country has certain drawbacks. Firstly, this way is very expensive as the tuition fee for overseas students is rather high. Besides, when you study abroad, you have to adapt to a very different way of life, which can be quite stressful. What is more, English teachers do not speak Russian so if you don’t know English well, you will not understand their explanation.
It is often assumed that it is better to study a language abroad because you can always use it speaking with native speakers. However, I doubt that we will have lots of opportunities to speak abroad as we do not know many people there. It is also believed that Russian teachers are not as qualified as those in England. I totally disagree with this opinion because Russian teachers can compare two languages and explain grammar rules better.
To sum up, I would argue that the best way to learn a language is to study it in your native country because you can always get the necessary help from your teachers. Moreover, today we have lots of opportunities to improve our skills such as communicating with English pen-friends over the Internet. I think that we should travel abroad so as to practise a language but not to study it.

We cannot broaden our minds if we see the world only from the perspective of our own culture. In addition, learning languages is a good exercise for the intellect. Moreover, if pupils know at least one foreign language, they learn new languages much faster. Besides, some languages are tricky enough to learn. For example, in English there are more exceptions than rules. In this case, children can be overloaded with homework. In conclusion, I want to say that learning languages is extremely beneficial and I would like to know different foreign languages. Another worry is the activities of cybercriminals. What is more, leaders of different terrorist or oppositional organizations can use the Internet to find new followers.
In conclusion, I strongly believe that despite the criticisms by some and the fears of others, the Internet seems to have changed our world to the better and we must try to make the best use of it.

Moreover, if clones have been made, they will obviously have serious psychological problems connected with their unusual birth. Finally, there is no doubt that human cloning will change our perception of what is the value of a human life as we might change from having children to manufacturing them. However, scientists claim that human cloning could be very beneficial as therapeutic cloning could provide stem cells for regenerative medicine and tissues for transplantation. Besides, re-productive cloning will probably give parents who are both infertile an opportunity to have children. I am afraid that this technology is not safe enough to use on humans. It is also possible that clones will age quicker since the cell used in the cloning procedure has already been used in a real life individual.
To sum up, we must question whether human cloning is really worth it when weighed against the problems it raises. From my point of view, human reproductive cloning should be under the tight control of the government and the UN because it is dangerous to interfere with nature and the consequences can be really disastrous.

The latest advances in information technology make people think that schools of the future will use computers instead of printed books. Although electronic books have not been widely accepted yet, they have certain advantages over traditional paper volumes. But will they be able to replace printed books? In my opinion, students will be widely using computers for studying in the future. To begin with, computers can store lots of books in their memory and modern software allows us to find quickly the necessary information. Besides, with the interactive programs on computers studying will be much more exciting. What is more, electronic books will not degrade overtime like their printed counterparts. On the other hand, lots of disbelievers argue that computers will not replace printed books because a printed book is better for human eyes than a computer screen. In addition, books are cheaper and easier to use since they do not need electricity or the Internet connection. I cannot agree with this because modern computer screens emit no radiation and allow us to read even in low light conditions. Of course we will have to pay for electricity but I think it will be cheaper than to pay for printed books, which are very expensive nowadays.
To sum up, I think computers and printed books will peacefully coexist for years to come, but in the future technological progress will make it possible for students to carry laptops or even palmtops instead of traditional bags with lots of heavy books.

However, adults consider computer games a complete waste of time. As for me, I believe computer games are more than mindless entertainment. To begin with, computer games can teach people to achieve their aims as they regularly put obstacles and traps in the way of players which are necessary to overcome in order to progress through the rest of the game. Additionally, computer games can be a valuable source of accidental learning that can be applied to school, home, and social events. Moreover, teachers have also started to appreciate educational games as an opportunity to make their lessons more exciting. Nevertheless, quite a few people are against this activity as they find it rather addictive and harmful for children’s health. They argue that computer games make students neglect their school work. However, if we learn to control our computer use and play games for an hour just to relax after a hard day at school, this will not do us any harm. What is more, modern technology made it possible to eliminate the bad effect of computers on our eyes.
To sum up, I believe that computer games have more advantages than drawbacks. They make us persistent, develop our logical reasoning and help us to escape from everyday problems. The thing is to find a right balance between virtual reality and everyday reality.

Space exploration can mean a major leap for mankind. However, it is often criticized because the price for these space experiments is too high, especially while poverty still exists in many parts of the world. On the one hand, space research is extremely beneficial as it advances technology. As a result of this work, we have lots of inventions, which have made our lives much more comfortable. In addition, through the exploration of space, we could find new elements, minerals or even discover new laws of physics and eventually learn more about ourselves. What is more, space exploration will allow us to establish a human civilization on another planet as a hedge against the catastrophe that might occur on the Earth. On the other hand, the benefits of space exploration are not self-evident, no matter how real they are. It costs billions of dollars to fund the projects of space science whereas this money should rather be spent on meeting the needs of the underprivileged. Besides, some of the technology we develop through space science can be used in a destructive manner if it is in the wrong hands. Finally, a travel to space can be dangerous as we may discover something that is extremely harmful for the living beings on Earth.
To conclude, I want to say that space exploration satisfies the human desire for adventure therefore most people are interested in space research. Nevertheless, I believe our governments should find the right balance between social and space programs.

Long ago studying a foreign language was not necessary and people weren`t in need of it.In Shakespeare`s time English was spoken only by six million people and was a “provincial ” language. But now at the beginning of the 21st millenium probably one billion people speak English.But the situation has changed greatly thanks to the expansion of all types of ties between countries in the world. A person who has a good command of a foreign language feels at ease not only in his native country but abroad too.I remember a good quatation said by Gohnson ” language is the dress of thought”. These words dress our thoughts better. A foreign language will enable a person to read English books in the original, to communicate with foreigners, to participate in cultural and educational exchanges with other countries.
So, English plays a great role in our lives.People, who know foreign languages are necessary for the development of technics,economy and arts in modern society. People want to learn foreign languages to write their pen-friends or to communicate with them personally. People also want to read the works written by famous writers and also magazines in the original. Learning a foreign language is especially important in our country. As for me I am fond of English. I began studying it nine years ago and I have enjoyed my lessons since that time. I like everything in English: its pronunciation, its intonation, its songs and poetry. It`s a pity there is very few English classes at school. God gave language to people for communication. For a while there was one language, and it served its purpose. Later when the mankind decided to build the Tower of Babel, God got angry, and made people speak different languages. At first it seemed to be bad, but in fact it was a chance to study different languages.
«How many languages you know – that many times you are a person», ancient wise men said. And it is so, for command of other languages, along with one`s native language, gives the chance not only to get acquainted with the culture of different nations, but also to learn more deeply the beauty and uniqueness of one`s own heritage. And all this makes a person`s life richer and more brightly coloured.
Today English is one of the most widespread languages of our Universe. There is no airport or a flight service, technology or sports in the world that isn`t dominated by English. It is also the universal language of the Internet as the majority of electronic books and information can be found in this language.
Why do I study English language? For me this question has several answers and each of them is important to me. I want to learn English to visit those places of the United Kingdom where films of my idol, Harry Potter, were shot.
I plan to study at a foreign university, and the majority of educational institutions admit foreign students on the basis of English proficiency. And the abundant majority of educational information is in English, so the knowledge of this language is necessary for me.
These are my ambitious plans. Now my knowledge of English allows me to have friends abroad, but tomorrow I will need to know English better to find friends on a professional level, to get acquainted with culture and history of their countries. And I will be happy to open my world, my ancient native land to them. Having studied English, I will be able to read my favourite books in the original, to attend film screenings without translation, to understand TV and radio programs in authentic English.
English language is my future. It will make my world more interesting and pleasant.
Learning A new language
Learning a new language is not easy. So when we want to learn the language, we should be confident and should not be shy. Therefore, we should practice language as much as we can. To learn language we should follow certain steps.
As matter as fact, students who wish to learn the language should follow certain steps. First, we should listen to the new language as much as possible. We have better listening to a native speaker that because we will learn pronunciation correctly. Also, we can use radio, audio programmes and watching T.V in listening language. Moreover, we should try ad much as possible listening to the language four hours everyday.
Second, to speak a new language we should be confident. For example, we should be confident and do not fear of our mistakes when we speak. Therefore, If we shy and do not want to make a mistake, we can not speak because we are afraid to make a mistake.
Third, read in the language as much as we can. For instance, read from general books which have topics we like it. Also, read from children’s books and read from magazines.
Fourth, to learn writing we should draw our planning and think of what we want to write about. In addition to that we can learn writing by writing our daily.
To conclude, we should practice these skills as much as we can. In addition to that if we have desire we can overcome the abstracts that we face when learning language.

I think that any educated person must learn foreign languages. But I prefer English to other foreign languages. Why? English is becoming a global language. A lot of problems of the 21st century, such as the problems of war and peace, ecology, can not be solved without speaking the same language.

Some people learn English because they need it in their work; others to travel aboard and for lots of people learning English is just a hobby.
I have been learning English since the age of 11. I like learning English very much. But I like and know well my native language, Russian. The great German poet Goethe once said: “He, who knows no foreign language, does not know his own one.” I agree with him. The knowledge of English helps me to learn Russian.

Английский — это международный язык, на котором общаются большя половина всего мира.
Язык необходим для путешествий, для общения с иностранцами. Если ты будешь знать язык, то тебе не придется задавать много вопросов иностранцам, посещать разные скучные экскурсии, а ты сможешь путешествовать самостоятельно.
Благодаря знанию языка, можно подружиться с друзьями из других стран. Ты сможешь с ними общаться, узнавать что-то новое, улучшать свои навыки знания языка.
Сейчас многие фильмы и книги выходят на английском, но пока их переводят, проходит много времени.
