I think that Russia is one of the dirtiest countries in the world. In Russia almost every family has a car. And fumes of cars are very dangerous. Our factories, cars, trains and planes make the air dirty, so the atmosphere is polluted.
Many cities suffer from smog. Vast forests are cut and burnt in fire. Their disappearance upsets the oxygen balance. As a result some rare species of animals, birds, fish and plants disappear forever, a number of rivers and lakes dry up. When you use water wisely, you help the environment.
People always polluted their surroundings. But until now pollution was not such a serious problem. People lived in rural areas and did not produce such amount of polluting agents that would cause a dangerous situation in global scale. I do not want my family to live in polluted environment.
Fortunately, it’s not too late to solve these problems . I find many simple ways to help our planet in everyday life. We can plant trees and create parks for endangered animals.
We can recycle our wastes; persuade enterprises to stop polluting activities, because it is apparent that our careless use of fossil fuels and chemicals is destroying this planet. And it is now more than ever apparent that at the same time we are destroying our bodies and our future.

Various organizations (for example, Greenpeace and WWF) call for environment protection, take measures to rescue endangered species of animals and plants. Some companies transform manufacturing processes of their factories to reduce polluting emissions. Scientists invent models of environmentally friendly cars and buses. The waste processing industry has developed, and many people have already got used to sort rubbish.

However, the pollution level of air and water is still so high that living in cities is harmful for human health; besides, it is impossible to revitalize extinct species (tur or Javanese tiger) and to recover all the cut down forests. It is obvious that humanity had used nature mindlessly and violently from the very birth of modern civilization. Global ecological crisis is a result of our unacceptable disrespect to the Earth: oil outflows in oceans, toxic waste burial, poaching with commercial goals – for leather, fur, ivory trade… Even the clearest places of the Earth (the Amazon basin, Alaska) were hurt by industry and urbanization. Environmental destructions made by humans are very serious, but their recognition began too late. For this reason, the situation, unfortunately, cannot change quickly.

Nevertheless, we have to continue our attempts to protect the planet; otherwise, the threat of a global catastrophe will grow. As a result, some rare species of animals, birds, fish and plants are extinct. A lot of seas, rivers and lakes are filled with poison like industrial and nuclear wastes, chemical fertilizers and pesticides. The pollution of air and the world’s ocean, destruction of the ozone layer is the result of man’s careless interaction with nature, a sign of the ecological crisis.
People should consider their attitude to the environment. Some progress has already been made in this direction. Numerous conferences have been held by a lot of agencies to discuss problems facing ecologically poor regions including the Aral Sea, the South Urals, Kuzbass, Donbass and Chernobyl. Greenpeace is also doing much to preserve the environment.
What can we do to save our planet? First of all, people should switch to alternative forms of power, such as solar power or wind power. Secondly, the use of atomic power must be banned. Thirdly, we need to recycle. It’s the art of turning waste into new products. It would be a good idea if people started riding bicycles instead of driving cars. We are obliged to protect nature. There are new diseases and viruses that mutate and are not amenable to treatment. Mortality is increasing across the planet. Nowadays we name with the term “ecology” different fields connected with the environment. Let us start with the describing ecology as a science.

The other term is closer to the original definition and in that case ecology studies relations between living organisms.

Pollution is as complicated as serious problem. Automobiles are polluting the air but they provide transportation for the people. Factories pollute the air and the water but they provide jobs for people and produce necessary goods. Fertilizers and pesticides are important for growing crops but they can ruin soil.
Thus, people would have to stop using many useful things if they wanted to end pollution immediately. Most people do not want that of course. But pollution can be reduced gradually.
Scientists and engineers can find the ways to reduce pollution from automobiles and factories. Government can pass the laws that would make enterprises take measures for reducing of pollution. Individuals and groups of people can work together to persuade enterprises to stop polluting activities.

Автомобили и другие новые изобретения делают загрязнение все интенсивнее. В конце 60-х годов люди начали ощущать тревогу в связи с опасностью загрязнения окружающей среды.
Воздух, вода и почва необходимы для существования всех живых существ. Однако загрязненный воздух может послужить причиной болезни и даже смерти. In recent years the number of environmental problems has increased greatly. One of the most dangerous problems for our planet is global warming which means that most climates all over the world are changing and getting warmer. It happens because we burn too much petrol resources, such as oil and coal, and the Earth heats up. This process can cause melting of the polar ice and the sea level rising in the future. If the climate changes there will be floods, heavy storms or severe droughts in different areas of the world. Cutting down on exhaust fumes from vehicles could help solve this serious problem.
Our planet is overpopulated, that’s why we are using up our natural resources – they are not endless. So the scientists have started looking for some alternate forms of energy such as water, wind, sunlight and even tides. These resources are clean, natural and unlimited. I’m glad that modern automobile industries make hybrids which use electric or solar energy instead of petrol. It would definitely help protect our environment from pollution.
There are different kinds of environmental pollution: air pollution, water pollution, land pollution. Sadly, not all human beings realize or admit that we are the ones who cause these problems and we should be the first to stop them and protect our environment. Because of the industrial revolution the air is polluted with awful chemicals; seas and oceans are poisoned with oil spills. Many rare species of flora and fauna are threatened with extinction.
We should be proud to live on our wonderful planet and understand that the consequences of pollution might be terrible and affect us and our children later. We should start recycling things made of glass, paper, plastic and aluminium. We should stop smoking and plant as many trees as we can because they can give us more oxygen. We need to drive less and use public transport in order to reduce fuel burning. We are responsible for the situation.

I believe that one day somebody will invent energy that hasn’t fumes. Or people will use renewable energy, for example solar energy, wind energy or hydro-electric dams. I know that these energies aren’t so powerful, but we can use it sometimes, for example for cookers.

I know that the world is getting hotter because of us! When the sun shines, everything gets hot and the dirt stops the hot air from going up to the sky. Because the hot air has nowhere to go, everything gets hotter.
Our world is warmer than it was one hundred years ago. Hot countries may become drier and the people who live there won’t be able to grow enough food. Ice in cold areas is changing to water because of higher temperatures. When this happens, the sea levels become bigger. Some towns near the sea may have a problem soon.
We can help if we stop making the air dirty but we must do something fast!
In addition, not many people understand that they are polluting environment. They are dropping litter on the streets. In my opinion drop litter or rubbish in the dustbin isn’t hard it’s easy.
I think that there must be group of people who will follow the people whodrop litter in the streets. Finally there must be more bins in the streets. And, of course, don’t cut down trees!!! Grow trees, they clean the air!

I always drop litter in bins and call up my friends to do the same. Maybe when I grow up somebody will have already invented clean and powerful energy.

I think that Russia is one of the dirtiest countries in the world. In Russia almost every family has a car. And fumes of cars are very dangerous. Our factories, cars, trains and planes make the air dirty, so the atmosphere is polluted.
Many cities suffer from smog. Vast forests are cut and burnt in fire. Their disappearance upsets the oxygen balance. As a result some rare species of animals, birds, fish and plants disappear forever, a number of rivers and lakes dry up. When you use water wisely, you help the environment.
People always polluted their surroundings. But until now pollution was not such a serious problem. People lived in rural areas and did not produce such amount of polluting agents that would cause a dangerous situation in global scale. I do not want my family to live in polluted environment.
Fortunately, it’s not too late to solve these problems . I find many simple ways to help our planet in everyday life. We can plant trees and create parks for endangered animals.
We can recycle our wastes; persuade enterprises to stop polluting activities, because it is apparent that our careless use of fossil fuels and chemicals is destroying this planet. And it is now more than ever apparent that at the same time we are destroying our bodies and our future.
I’m sure all is in hands of people. I call up: Protect environment, save nature!

Modern society is trying to resolve great number of ecological problems that have appeared during last centuries. Various organizations (for example, Greenpeace and WWF) call for environment protection, take measures to rescue endangered species of animals and plants. Some companies transform manufacturing processes of their factories to reduce polluting emissions. Scientists invent models of environmentally friendly cars and buses. The waste processing industry has developed, and many people have already got used to sort rubbish.

However, the pollution level of air and water is still so high that living in cities is harmful for human health; besides, it is impossible to revitalize extinct species (tur or Javanese tiger) and to recover all the cut down forests. It is obvious that humanity had used nature mindlessly and violently from the very birth of modern civilization. Global ecological crisis is a result of our unacceptable disrespect to the Earth: oil outflows in oceans, toxic waste burial, poaching with commercial goals – for leather, fur, ivory trade… Even the clearest places of the Earth (the Amazon basin, Alaska) were hurt by industry and urbanization. Environmental destructions made by humans are very serious, but their recognition began too late. For this reason, the situation, unfortunately, cannot change quickly.

Nevertheless, we have to continue our attempts to protect the planet; otherwise, the threat of a global catastrophe will grow. People must remember that they depend on environmental balance inevitably. Careful and reasonable attitude to environment may help not only nature, but also the humanity itself to survive.

With the development of industrial cities, which create huge amounts of pollutants, the problem has become real. Nowadays our planet is in serious danger. Global warming, acid rains, air and water pollution, overpopulation are the problems that threaten human lives on the Earth.
Every year world industry pollutes the air that we breathe with. A great number of cities suffer from smog. Rainforests are cut down. Their disappearance upsets the oxygen balance. As a result, some rare species of animals, birds, fish and plants are extinct. A lot of seas, rivers and lakes are filled with poison like industrial and nuclear wastes, chemical fertilizers and pesticides. The pollution of air and the world’s ocean, destruction of the ozone layer is the result of man’s careless interaction with nature, a sign of the ecological crisis.
People should consider their attitude to the environment. Some progress has already been made in this direction. Numerous conferences have been held by a lot of agencies to discuss problems facing ecologically poor regions including the Aral Sea, the South Urals, Kuzbass, Donbass and Chernobyl. Greenpeace is also doing much to preserve the environment.
What can we do to save our planet? First of all, people should switch to alternative forms of power, such as solar power or wind power. Secondly, the use of atomic power must be banned. Thirdly, we need to recycle. It’s the art of turning waste into new products. It would be a good idea if people started riding bicycles instead of driving cars. We are obliged to protect nature. If everybody cares, it will make a difference.

Lawless testing of nuclear and chemical weapons completely destroy the ecosystem.
Such negligent behavior of people leads to environmental disasters, such as acid precipitation, intensive melting of glaciers. There are new diseases and viruses that mutate and are not amenable to treatment. Mortality is increasing across the planet. Nature cannot self-purify, so people must understand the seriousness of the problem and avoid catastrophic situations.

Противозаконные испытания ядерного и химического оружия уничтожают полностью экосистему.
Подобное халатное поведение людей приводит к экологическим катастрофам, таким как выпадение кислотных осадков, интенсивное таяние ледников. Появляются новые болезни и вирусы, которые мутируют и не поддаются лечению. Увеличивается смертность по всей планете. Сегодня человечество сталкивается со множеством экологических проблем. Если вовремя не обратить на них внимания, мы рискуем столкнуться с гораздо более серьезными бедствиями в будущем.
Загрязнение
Загрязнение – одна из самых больших проблем. Заводы и автомобили являются самыми злостными загрязняющими факторами. Разливы нефти и кислотные дожди загрязняют Мировой океан.
Глобальное потепление
Глобальное потепление – результат деятельности человека. Оно характеризуется повышением температуры океанов и поверхности земли, что приводит к повышению уровня воды и таянию ледникового покрова. Кроме того, наводнения, опустынивание и чрезмерное выпадение снега, также являются признаками глобального потепления.
Климатические изменения
Глобальное потепление влечет за собой другую серьезную проблему – изменение климата. Изменение климата может стать причиной появления других вредных влияний на нашу жизнь, в том числе появления новых болезней и изменения погодных условий.
Вырубка лесов
На сегодняшний день 30% поверхности земли покрыто лесами. С каждым годом их становится все меньше. Человек вырубает леса, освобождая площадь под строительство новых домов, заводов и предприятий. Мы должны задуматься о том, что вырубка лесов приводит к вымиранию животных и исчезновению растений.
Истощение озонового слоя
Озоновый слой защищает нашу планету от вредных солнечных лучей. Вследствие выброса в атмосферу так называемых фреонов, озоновый слой истончается. Из-за этого в озоновом слое появляются дыры.
В настоящее время, фреоны практически не используются в производстве. Однако стоит помнить, что если эта проблема не будет взята под контроль, вредные солнечные лучи смогут беспрепятственно проникать в атмосферу. Крупнейшая озоновая дыра находится над Антарктидой.
The first one is air pollution. Air is a substance we can’t live without. Our atmosphere consists of oxygen, ozone and carbon dioxide in a certain proportion. This proportion is ideal for healthy and comfortable breath and it shouldn’t be changed. Various contaminants in air violate the percentage of gases and add poisonous impurities. One of the most widely known drawbacks of air pollution is stratospheric ozone depletion, due to which the climate of our planet changes and terrible natural disasters happen more frequently. The Earth is our home. We must protect it. People are the part of nature. Unfortunately, often we forget about it. People with their technologic progress are often accused of environmental pollution. However, for example, some scientists believe that the first air pollution happened when the ancient people controlled fire. Anyway, human activities are the main source of pollution.

Fortunately, many people understand the importance of the improvement of the state of the environment. So, nowadays people often speak about the environmental protection. What is the environmental protection? It is the set of measures aimed to improve the environment. They are realesed at different levels. They are state, local and even individual levels.

State measures include resolutions and agreements, for example, on using or restriction of chemicals, on emissions and so on. Government regulates and controls it. If a company breaks these resolutions or agreements, it may be even closed. Local measures include the same things but at the local level. They are controled by local authorities.

People and all living organisms are the huge part of the nature. As they react upon each other, the necessity of studying it exists. So in the late 19th century ecology as a science was formed, though particular parts of it were studied in antiquity. The term “ecology” was introduced by German biologist Ernst Haeckel. Nowadays we name with the term “ecology” different fields connected with the environment. Let us start with the describing ecology as a science.

Ecology as a science studies how living organisms react upon each other and the environment. Of course, nowadays the definition of the term “ecology” is quite broader than it was when the science had just been formed. There are many definitions of it. For example, one of them is connected with biology and in that case ecology studies populations and ecological systems. The other term is closer to the original definition and in that case ecology studies relations between living organisms.

Many scientists think that people should not mix up ecology and the environmental protection because ecology is a science. Of course, they are closely connected with each other. If people pollute the environment and, consequently, some population of animals extinct, all these things will affect the ecology as science.

Ecology is a very interesting science. When I went to school, it was my favourite subject. In my opinion, it is very important to study it.

People have always polluted their surroundings. But until now pollution was not such a serious problem. People lived in uncrowded rural areas and did not have pollution — causing machines. With the development of crowded industrial cities which put huge amounts of pollutants into small areas, the problem has become more important.
Automobiles and other new inventions make pollution steadily worse. Since the late 1960’s people have become alarmed with the danger of pollution.
Air, water, and soil are necessary for existence of all living things. But polluted air can cause illness, and even death. Polluted water kills fish and other marine life. On polluted soil, food can not be grown. In addition environmental pollution spoils the natural beauty of our planet.
Pollution is as complicated as serious problem. Automobiles are polluting the air but they provide transportation for the people. Factories pollute the air and the water but they provide jobs for people and produce necessary goods. Fertilizers and pesticides are important for growing crops but they can ruin soil.
Thus, people would have to stop using many useful things if they wanted to end pollution immediately. Most people do not want that of course. But pollution can be reduced gradually.
Scientists and engineers can find the ways to reduce pollution from automobiles and factories. Government can pass the laws that would make enterprises take measures for reducing of pollution. Individuals and groups of people can work together to persuade enterprises to stop polluting activities.

In recent years the number of environmental problems has increased greatly. One of the most dangerous problems for our planet is global warming which means that most climates all over the world are changing and getting warmer. It happens because we burn too much petrol resources, such as oil and coal, and the Earth heats up. This process can cause melting of the polar ice and the sea level rising in the future. If the climate changes there will be floods, heavy storms or severe droughts in different areas of the world. Cutting down on exhaust fumes from vehicles could help solve this serious problem.
Our planet is overpopulated, that’s why we are using up our natural resources – they are not endless. So the scientists have started looking for some alternate forms of energy such as water, wind, sunlight and even tides. These resources are clean, natural and unlimited. I’m glad that modern automobile industries make hybrids which use electric or solar energy instead of petrol. It would definitely help protect our environment from pollution.
There are different kinds of environmental pollution: air pollution, water pollution, land pollution. Sadly, not all human beings realize or admit that we are the ones who cause these problems and we should be the first to stop them and protect our environment. Because of the industrial revolution the air is polluted with awful chemicals; seas and oceans are poisoned with oil spills. Many rare species of flora and fauna are threatened with extinction.
We should be proud to live on our wonderful planet and understand that the consequences of pollution might be terrible and affect us and our children later. We should start recycling things made of glass, paper, plastic and aluminium. We should stop smoking and plant as many trees as we can because they can give us more oxygen. We need to drive less and use public transport in order to reduce fuel burning. We are responsible for the situation.

I think that Russia is one of the dirtiest countries in the world. In Russia almost every family has a car. And fumes of cars are very dangerous. Our factories, cars, trains and planes make the air dirty, so the atmosphere is polluted.
I believe that one day somebody will invent energy that hasn’t fumes. Or people will use renewable energy, for example solar energy, wind energy or hydro-electric dams. I know that these energies aren’t so powerful, but we can use it sometimes, for example for cookers.
I think that right now we need new energy, because oil and coal are disappearing. All countries will be in the economiccrisis, if we don’t find new energy!
I know that the world is getting hotter because of us! When the sun shines, everything gets hot and the dirt stops the hot air from going up to the sky. Because the hot air has nowhere to go, everything gets hotter.
Our world is warmer than it was one hundred years ago. Hot countries may become drier and the people who live there won’t be able to grow enough food. Ice in cold areas is changing to water because of higher temperatures. When this happens, the sea levels become bigger. Some towns near the sea may have a problem soon.
We can help if we stop making the air dirty but we must do something fast!
In addition, not many people understand that they are polluting environment. They are dropping litter on the streets. In my opinion drop litter or rubbish in the dustbin isn’t hard it’s easy.
I think that there must be group of people who will follow the people whodrop litter in the streets. Finally there must be more bins in the streets. And, of course, don’t cut down trees!!! Grow trees, they clean the air!
I’m sure all is in hands of people. I call up: Protect environment, save nature!
I always drop litter in bins and call up my friends to do the same. Maybe when I grow up somebody will have already invented clean and powerful energy.

Я верю, что кто-нибудь изобретёт энергию, которая не имела бы выхлопов. Или люди использовали бы восстанавливаемую энергию, например солнечную энергию, ветряную энергию или гидро-электро станцию. Я знаю,что эти энергии не такие мощные, но мы можем использовать их для групп вещей, например для плит, использовалась солнечная энергия и т.д.
Я думаю, что прямо сейчас нам нужна новая энергия, потому что нефть и уголь исчезают. Все страны будут в экономическом кризисе, если мы не найдем новую энергию!
