Problems of Youth
Life used to be
fun for ‘teenagers’. They used to have money to spend, and free
time to spend it in. They used to wear teenage clothes, and meet
in teenage coffee bars and discos. Some of them still do. But
for many young people, life is harder now. Jobs are difficult to
find. There’s not so much money around. Things are more
expensive, and it’s hard to find a place to
live.
Teachers say that
students work harder than they used to. They are less interested
in politics, and more interested in passing exams. They know
that good exam results may get them better jobs.
Most young people
worry more about money than their parents did twenty years ago.
They try to spend less and save more. They want to be able to
get homes of their own one day.
For some, the
answer to unemployment is to leave home and look for work in one
of Britain’s big cities. Every day hundreds of young people
arrive in London from other parts of Britain, looking for jobs.
Some find work, and stay. Others don’t find it, and go home
again, or join the many unemployed in London. There used to be
one kind of teenage fashion, one style, one top pop group. Then,
the girls all wore mini-skirts and everyone danced to the music
of the Beatles and the Rolling Stones.
But now an
eighteen-year-old might be a punk, with green hair and chains
round his legs, or a skin head, with short, short hair and right
wing politics, or a ‘rasta’, with long uncombed hair and a love
for Africa. There’s a lot of different music around too. There’s
reggae, the West Indian sound, there’s rock, there’s heavy
metal, country and western, and disco. All these kinds of music
are played by different groups and listened to by different
fans.
When you read the
newspapers and watch the news on television, it’s easy to get
the idea that British young people are all unemployed, angry and
in trouble.
But that’s not
true. Three quarters of them do more or less what their parents
did. They do their best at school, find some kind of work in the
end, and get married in their early twenties. They get on well
with their parents, and enjoy family life. They eat fish and
chips, watch football on TV, go to the pub, and like reading
about pop stars. After all, if they didn’t, they wouldn’t be

Теперь же, подросток может быть
зеленоволосым панком с цепями на ногах или скин-хэдом с очень
короткой стрижкой и правыми политическими убеждениями, или же
растаманом с длинными нечесаными волосами и любовью к Африке.
Существует масса различной музыки. Есть регги, западно-индийский
«саунд», рок, хэви-метал, кантри и вестерн, диско. Все эти стили
музыки исполняются разными группами и их слушают разные
поклонники.
Когда читаешь газеты и смотришь
телевизор, очень легко может сложиться впечатление, что в Англии
вся молодежь без работы, обозленная и имеет неприятности.
Это не так. Три четверти из них
более или менее занимаются тем же, чем занимались их родители.
Они пытаются хорошо учиться в школе, найти хорошую работу и
жениться после 20 лет. Они ладят с родителями и наслаждаются
семейной жизнью. Они едят рыбу и чипсы, смотрят футбол по
телевизору, ходят в бар и любят читать о поп-звездах. В конце
концов, если бы они этим не занимались, они не были бы

People think that the age of teenagers is the most difficult and even dangerous. There are a lot of scientific studies made to know whether it is so andб if it is so, what parents and teenagers should do.

The most frequent problem of teenagers is misunderstanding between parents and teenagers. Sometimes parents really do not understand that their children are growing up and, for example, want them to wear nice and cute clothes. However, in most cases teenagers just want to protest but actually they even do not know against what this protest is. So parents should help their children, support them and know about their interest.

Another problem is teenagers’ dissatisfaction with their appearance. They think that they are not so beautiful as film stars or singers. For example, girls keep diet or try to use a lot of cosmetics. Sometimes such behaviour causes many health problems. It is very important to explain teenagers that they are beautiful in his or her way and that people they compare themselves with are not as ideal in everyday life as they are on the stage.
Еще одной проблемой является неудовлетворенность подростков своим внешним видом. Они думают, что они не так красивы, как звезды кино или певцы. One more problem is education. Sometimes teenagers are under pressure. Society or parents may demand that they should have the first place in everything. Of course, it causes many psychological problems. Teenagers should endeavour to achieve high results but it does not mean that if they fail to do that, their life will be ruined.

It has never been easy to be a teenager. I believe that the teenage period is the most important one in our life. It is the time when we receive our education and try to learn the right from the wrong.
Teenage hormones make young people more sensitive and emotional than usual. They feel quite miserable, hurt and rejected when they split up with their friends. Young boys and girls often suffer from depressions. Moreover, they constantly have serious arguments with their overprotective parents who try to control everything their children do and do not allow everything they want. Strong parents’ pressure to do well in school can also be really annoying for teens.
Teens often face a lot of problems in their relations with parents, teachers and friends. Sometimes they are teased or bullied by their elder brothers or other peers. They also need to be free and independent, so they can feel ashamed while going shopping with their mothers, for example. Some young people get jealous when their friends own a more expensive smart-phone model or a more fashionable piece of clothes.
There are young people who join teenage groups or gangs in order to express their individuality, to increase their self-esteem and to feel accepted and secure. However some subcultures are quite aggressive and opposed to the normal standards in our society. In many gangs teens start using drugs or alcoholic drinks and committing crimes.
One of the main problems among teenage girls is their worry about the body image. They compare themselves with other beautiful and fit girls in their class or even some celebrities and they strongly wish to look like them. This unhealthy self-esteem leads to serious eating disorders and such illnesses as anorexia and bulimia. Girls refuse to eat food in order to change their body shape and to become skinny and then gradually they can’t eat at all.
Most teenagers don’t know how to cope with their problems because they don’t feel like sharing their emotions and discussing them with their parents or friends. Young people are usually afraid of disapproval and misunderstanding. In this case it may be useful to consult a professional psychologist who can offer some good advice and probably give a helping hand.

Девушки отказываются принимать пищу для того, что изменить свои формы и стать худыми и затем, постепенно, они вообще не могут есть.
Большинство подростков не знают, как справиться со своими проблемами, поскольку им не хочется делиться своими чувствами и обсуждать их с родителями или друзьями. Молодежь обычно боится осуждения и непонимания. В этом случае, возможно будет полезной консультация профессионального психолога, который сможет предложить хороший совет и протянуть руку помощи.

Youth is a period of life which is of utmost importance in the life of man. First, man’s entire life is rooted in his early years. The morals and beliefs, range of interests, education, health and habits are all laid in childhood and youth, the personality is shaped. Second, youth is a time when a person is trying to find his place in the world. This period is usually associated with problems: young people ‘struggle’ to fit themselves into society. Difficult decisions and adjustments face young people in today’s society. There are several problems the young generation face. They are the eternal problems of choosing a career and getting education, the problem of independence and money, the problem of unemployment of young people, the generation gap. Young people have many problems of emotional and personal character which may look silly and unimportant in the eyes of grown-ups but appear to be extremely important to the young. They are the problems of friendship and loneliness, as well as the problem of the first love.
Probably the most vital problem is choosing a career, which is really difficult. One thing that makes it so difficult is the responsibility you have to take on — it is widely known that your future life depends on the choice made early in life when your personal experience is not so great. Sometimes you may even be not quite certain about the field of knowledge you are interested in. The second reason is that to make this choice you have to get some idea of the labour market and job opportunities. Third, there are parents who usually have their own idea of your future career and, in many cases, try to make their child choose the career path they prefer.
Perhaps one of the most fundamental problems faced by young people today is unemployment. Young people today have certain needs and aspirations. Because of the universal downturn in the economy combined with technology when particular jobs and skills are made obsolete, many youths today are experiencing problems in obtaining jobs. Unemployment means financial worries, frustration and discouragement. To solve the problem of unemployment, young people should strive for higher education. Then they would be qualified for skilled labour required by industrialized society.
Another problem facing young people today is the tension which exists between parents and children, or the ‘generation gap’. In their eagerness to achieve adult status and live their own life, young people may resent any restrictions. They believe that their parents are overanxious and overprotective, which usually creates tension. The ‘generation gap’ problem is really inevitable. Firstly, every generation is unique in its experience, and young people have always rejected or at least questioned the values of their parents. They have always wanted to learn from their own experience, not from their parents’ standards. Secondly, every younger generation tends to be more educated and better-informed than the previous one; they grow more quickly and enjoy freedom more. Thirdly, parents tend to aggravate the situation: they try to impose their ideas upon their children. It results in young people’s revolt against adult authority. Parents should exercise control over young people, and try to overcome the differences but with sympathy and understanding.
An area which poses a problem for young people and their parents is love and dating. Some parents today are prepared to give their children some freedom, others are overprotective, restricting their children from going out with the opposite sex. Thus, many young people today can’t get the valuable experience of adjusting to other people.
Many youths may not be mature enough to cope with such problems, that is why they go in the direction of crime, drugs, vandalism, drinking etc. Often young people are forced either consciously or unconsciously to become involved in those antisocial activities by people of their own age group. Moreover, they compensate for their feelings by revolting against society and adult authority.
The second one is the problem of friendship. Youth is the time when a person is vulnerable to opinions of different people, especially to the opinions of his peer group. Another problem is problem of love and dating. Some parents are democratic in this respect, and allow their children considerable freedom in their relations with the opposite sex. Others are overprotective and forbid their teenage children to go out with people they like, which, in my opinion, can result in many psychological problems as they prevent their children from getting an experience of communicating with representatives of the opposite sex, and this can lead to serious family problems later.
Grown-ups should work together with young people to help them solve these problems. We must remember that the young people are the leaders of tomorrow.

For me, the most important and difficult problem is that of friendship. Firstly, in spite of the fact I have some conflicts with my parents, I have always known they love me, and I love them, too, and will always do my best to help them and make them happy. Friends are people whose trust and affection you have to win; friendship is art for me. Secondly, my friends normally are my peers, we have common interests, likes and dislikes, so having friends is of utter importance to me. As to dating and love, I don’t think much about it yet. I think I have to solve the problems which seem most important to me at the moment, that is choosing the career and entering the university I have chosen.

What Are the Main Problems the Teens Are Facing Today?

Speaking about challenges in a teen’s life I’d say first that nowadays young people are facing a lot of problems, which primarily were associated with adult life.
How do you feel about a teen sitting on a bench in the park drinking beer and smoking? Unfortunately, this caricature image has got into our life and the question in fact is why.
I think all that smoking, drugs use and violence among youth are the ways that teens take in trying to escape from their problems. It may sound absurdly, but I believe that the most important thing, which leads young people to stress and depression, is relationships. Naturally I mean all kinds of relationships not only those between boys and girls. We live in the society, not in a desert! Everyone wants people to listen to him/her and to do what he/she wants, and sometimes it’s very hard to contact with the people around.
It’s clear that relations may be of various types: between kids and parents or teachers, between mates or beloveds… And they all bring troubles!
I regret to say that there is no understanding in many families. Parents are not interested in their kids’ lives and let them do anything they want. On the one hand, it’s ok as teenagers are mature enough to make their own decisions. But on the other hand, I think there should be some control in the family, because what kids do can sometimes be not just foolish but totally wrong. They start drinking or taking drugs in trying to express their protest, instead ruining their own lives.
In my opinion, the most important thing for teenagers is school. In fact, school is a model of the real life, the place, where kids learn not only how to square numbers or write correctly, but how to communicate with absolutely different people. At school children have to contact with their mates and teachers and this experience is what they have when entering the grown-up world.
Today such things as discrimination or intolerance at schools are not unusual. Some students find no common themes to discuss with their classmates; not everybody is interested, for example, in fashion news or modern gadgets. So they escape to their own world and often become outsiders. An incapability to contact with people around can lead to a lot of problems such as depression or neurosis and even they end up with suicide, which nowadays becomes, so to say, a normal way to die. Suicides among teenagers often happen as a result of their failures in private affairs. Although there are a lot of books, magazines and films dwelling on the subject, parting with a girl- or boyfriend can be a serious trouble in the young age. Besides, most teens are maximalists and see things in black and white… but – who says we must be wise?! To be a teen means to learn how to live, and it’s impossible to make no mistakes on the way.
Last year I wrote a poem about teens’ problems. It characterizes our life clearly.
Youth
Life is the way that we all have to go,
Life is the mixture of sadness and happiness.
You say, all teens are depressed and alone,
But isn’t youth also the time to be careless?
Tears all the nights, feeling lonely and bad,
Problems with teachers, with friends and with relatives.
Our teen’s life is not only for that!
Don’t paint the World into black, don’t be negative!
Try to be open to parents and friends,
Life will be better and life will be easier.
Youth is the time to have fun, to have rest..
All of your problems are not very serious.

There are many young people in our country. Each of them has his own point of view on his life and his future. There are many problems which are common for all young people. For example how to spend their free time, what to do after school, choosing a profession, how to deal with girl and boy-friends and so on.
The problem number one of most of the young people is the problem of fathers and sons. All young people want to be independent, they want their parents to listen to their opinion, not to interfere in their private life. Some parents neglect their children, because they can’t find a common language with each other.
Many problems were hushed up, but now we can speak openly about them. I think that the most difficult and serious problem of modern teen-ages is drugs. Some young men take drugs, because they think that will be cool. But they don’t understand, that it’s wrong. Some of them can’t stop that, and they become dependent on drugs. And they commit different crimes, because they need some money to buy drugs. There are also many other problems: alcoholism, smoking and so on.
There are many youth organizations in our country, wich unite young men on different principles. Members of every organisation have their own world outlook. Each of them has his own moral qualities. There are some informal organizations, for example: skinheads, hippies, panks and so on. Now there is also the problem of misunderstanding beetwen different youth groups.
We also face the problem of managing free time. We can do it in different ways. Some of teenagers spend their free time in different night clubs. Other young people spend their free time on the streets.
As for me, I spend my free time at home or in night clubs. I also have some problems with my parents. But every time then i have them I try to slove them without quarrel.
We are young people and we are the future of our country. Teenagers play an important role in the modern society. Grownups must remember that we are the future of our country and in present moment our character is only being formed and that’s why our parents must not assert pressure on us.
There are many different sources of conflict between teenagers and their parents such as dishonesty, smoking, messy room, grades.
Fear of loneliness
Teenagers often have low self-esteem; many of them are not satisfied with their appearance. Sometimes they have to deal with rudeness and intolerance of their coevals.

The problem of coming into adulthood
Most teenagers see adult life as a life full of freedom, independence and great opportunities. Only very few of them realize how much responsibility they would have.
But teenagers often get into trouble because for many of them being adult means staying out at night, trying “adult things” like smoking, drinking alcohol etc.
Physiological problems
During the teenage period the body undergoes a lot of changes. Teenagers usually grow very fast, and sometimes it causes clumsiness and poor coordination. Due to the hormonal changes a lot of young people have problems with their skin and hair.

But we should admit, there are some dangerous temptations of the youth and only parents can preserve their children from such social evil as alcohol, smoking and even early sex and killing oneself by using drugs.
For example, the former Soviet Union admitted that it had over 200,000 drug addicts. Because of this the government opened several special hospitals for these addicts. There’s a big anti-drugs campaign in the country’s schools too. Usually drugs come from several places including Western Europe and Afghanistan. Also, some addicts use glue or steal medical drugs from hospitals.
This problem is closely connected with gang-violence. As well as gangs of punks, rockers and hippies, there are ultra conservative gangs, too. They want to stop “the dangerous” influence of teenage culture in our country. But actually they follow the ideas of nationalism and even fascism.
One more acute problem for many young people is smoking. Millions of teenagers know it’s bad for them, but they still do it. I think it is rather easy to withstand the influence of those who smoke. We should be simply strong enough to say “no”.
Many people offer their way out. Some of them say that teenagers should not be let to the discos because of the danger of drugs; others say that young people should be given more money and more freedom, because everything that is forbidden astonishes.

Everybody says your youth is probably the best time of your life, that being young means romance, love, new discoveries and so on. But it is also the most difficult time because you have to make some very important decisions which will influence all your future life.
Things are not easy nowadays even for adults, but for teenagers who have to find their own place in society, it’s very difficult. It is necessary not only to adapt to your society, but also to be confident about your position in five, ten or twenty years time.
For your future it is essential to have a good job. And to get a really good job you have to be well-educated. Emotional problems for young people can be far more difficult than financial ones. The typical teenager problem is that «nobody understands me». The parents often continue to treat their teenage children as if they were infant, when they probably consider themselves to be grown up.

Some of them still do. But for many young people, life is harder now. Jobs are difficult to find. There’s not so much money around. Things are more expensive, and it’s hard to find a place to live.
Teachers say that students work harder than they used to. They are less interested in politics, and more interested in passing exams. They know that good exam results may get them better jobs.
Most young people worry more about money than their parents did twenty years ago. They try to spend less and save more. They want to be able to get homes of their own one day.
For some, the answer to unemployment is to leave home and look for work in one of Britain’s big cities. Every day hundreds of young people arrive in London from other parts of Britain, looking for jobs. Some find work, and stay. Others don’t find it, and go home again, or join the many unemployed in London. There used to be one kind of teenage fashion, one style, one top pop group. Then, the girls all wore mini-skirts and everyone danced to the music of the Beatles and the Rolling Stones.
But now an eighteen-year-old might be a punk, with green hair and chains round his legs, or a skin head, with short, short hair and right wing politics, or a ‘rasta’, with long uncombed hair and a love for Africa. There’s a lot of different music around too. There’s reggae, the West Indian sound, there’s rock, there’s heavy metal, country and western, and disco. All these kinds of music are played by different groups and listened to by different fans.
When you read the newspapers and watch the news on television, it’s easy to get the idea that British young people are all unemployed, angry and in trouble.
But that’s not true. Three quarters of them do more or less what their parents did. They do their best at school, find some kind of work in the end, and get married in their early twenties. They get on well with their parents, and enjoy family life. They eat fish and chips, watch football on TV, go to the pub, and like reading about pop stars. After all, if they didn’t, they wouldn’t be British, would they?

People think that the age of teenagers is the most difficult and even dangerous. There are a lot of scientific studies made to know whether it is so andб if it is so, what parents and teenagers should do.
Люди думают, что возраст подростков является самым трудным и даже опасным. Существует много научных исследований, проведенных для того, чтобы узнать, так ли это, и если это так, то, что родители и подростки должны делать.
The most frequent problem of teenagers is misunderstanding between parents and teenagers. Sometimes parents really do not understand that their children are growing up and, for example, want them to wear nice and cute clothes. However, in most cases teenagers just want to protest but actually they even do not know against what this protest is. So parents should help their children, support them and know about their interest.
Наиболее частая проблема подростков – непонимание между родителями и подростками. Иногда родители действительно не понимают, что их дети взрослеют и, например, хотят, чтобы подростки носили милую одежду. Another problem is teenagers’ dissatisfaction with their appearance. They think that they are not so beautiful as film stars or singers. For example, girls keep diet or try to use a lot of cosmetics. Sometimes such behaviour causes many health problems. It is very important to explain teenagers that they are beautiful in his or her way and that people they compare themselves with are not as ideal in everyday life as they are on the stage.

One more problem is education. Sometimes teenagers are under pressure. Society or parents may demand that they should have the first place in everything. Of course, it causes many psychological problems. Teenagers should endeavour to achieve high results but it does not mean that if they fail to do that, their life will be ruined.

It has never been easy to be a teenager. I believe that the teenage period is the most important one in our life. It is the time when we receive our education and try to learn the right from the wrong.
Teenage hormones make young people more sensitive and emotional than usual. They feel quite miserable, hurt and rejected when they split up with their friends. Young boys and girls often suffer from depressions. Moreover, they constantly have serious arguments with their overprotective parents who try to control everything their children do and do not allow everything they want. Strong parents’ pressure to do well in school can also be really annoying for teens.
Teens often face a lot of problems in their relations with parents, teachers and friends. Sometimes they are teased or bullied by their elder brothers or other peers. They also need to be free and independent, so they can feel ashamed while going shopping with their mothers, for example. Some young people get jealous when their friends own a more expensive smart-phone model or a more fashionable piece of clothes.
There are young people who join teenage groups or gangs in order to express their individuality, to increase their self-esteem and to feel accepted and secure. However some subcultures are quite aggressive and opposed to the normal standards in our society. In many gangs teens start using drugs or alcoholic drinks and committing crimes.
One of the main problems among teenage girls is their worry about the body image. They compare themselves with other beautiful and fit girls in their class or even some celebrities and they strongly wish to look like them. This unhealthy self-esteem leads to serious eating disorders and such illnesses as anorexia and bulimia. Girls refuse to eat food in order to change their body shape and to become skinny and then gradually they can’t eat at all.
Most teenagers don’t know how to cope with their problems because they don’t feel like sharing their emotions and discussing them with their parents or friends. Young people are usually afraid of disapproval and misunderstanding. In this case it may be useful to consult a professional psychologist who can offer some good advice and probably give a helping hand.

Девушки отказываются принимать пищу для того, что изменить свои формы и стать худыми и затем, постепенно, они вообще не могут есть.
Большинство подростков не знают, как справиться со своими проблемами, поскольку им не хочется делиться своими чувствами и обсуждать их с родителями или друзьями. Молодежь обычно боится осуждения и непонимания. В этом случае, возможно будет полезной консультация профессионального психолога, который сможет предложить хороший совет и протянуть руку помощи.
Nowadays every person understands that our world has changed very much in comparison with the last years. But the main thing is not that humanity has undergone scientific and technical revolution, but the change of the inner world of people. Especially it concerns young people.
Youth is the part of society who saves and follows the traditions of preceding generations. They possess such powerful force that is able to invert this world heels over head. Sure, this force must be directed at peaceful aims and be embodiment only of true values. However, modern youth do not keep their culture in such way. Thus, the new age is the newyoung people.
In my opinion, there are some basis factors influencing on it. One of them is our society. It influences the formation of the teenagers’ true values more than their families do. A child grows in a family where he gets education and there is his primary socialization. But he or she has to make contacts with other people and their influence is not far always positive. Besides, there are different youth subcultures. Not all their values are true values. Many of them have the aim to oppose public foundations. Thus they damage teenagers’ minds and can incite them against the whole world.
Another factor influencing young people is mass media. There are a lot of violent programmes and articles on TV and in printed press. Negative characters become the ideal heroes for children who try to imitate their behavior in real life. Teenagers become more nervous and aggressive, their psyche is seriously damaged and very often some of them commit crimes. So I considerthat crime is one of the main problems of modern youth.
It is known that children and teenagers crime is growing. Practically all the criminals are young people .It is caused by social inequality, poverty, availability of alcohol and drugs. As the aim of all public debates is getting material welfare, young people try to get it at any price without making efforts. They steal, violate and kill other people. In these cases the number of criminals among teenagers increases and that is natural and inevitable.
Alcohol and drugs are also among the most actual problems nowadays. Children get their first experience in alcohol or drug use while studying at school. They do not understand how dangerous it is, how harmful it is for their health. Children see beautiful life with cigarettes and drugs in films and try to behave like their heroes. They become addicted to these things and degraded later.
However, I think not all the youth are such bad people without any moral standards and behavior who doesn’t think about their future. The most of them have true values, they are ready to study and work hard to enjoy the life. But young people cannot do it without the help of the adults. They need their strong support and advices. Therefore the adults should lead the youth on to the right way of life, teach them to overcome difficulties and always be close to them.
В современное время каждый человек осознает, что мир очень сильно изменился по сравнению с прошлыми годами. И главное не то, что человечество претерпело научно-техническую революцию, а то, как изменился внутренний мир людей. Особенно это касается молодежи.
Молодежь – часть общества, которая сохраняет и следует традициям предшествующих поколений. Она обладает такой мощной силой, что способна перевернуть этот мир с ног на голову. Безусловно, эта мощь должна быть направлена на мирные цели и воплощать только истинные ценности. Однако современная молодежь не сохраняет культуру подобным образом. Новый век, таким образом, новая молодежь.
По моему мнению, существует несколько основных факторов , влияющих на это. Один из них – наше общество. Оно больше, чем семья, влияет на формирование истинных ценностей у подростков. Ребенок растет в семье, где получает воспитание и где происходит его первичная социализация. Но он или она должны общаться и с другими людьми, и их влияние далеко не всегда положительное. Кроме того, существует различные молодежные субкультуры. Не все их ценности являются правильными ценностями. Цель многих из них – противостояние общественным устоям. Таким образом, они вредят разумам подростков и могут настроить их против всего мира.
Другим фактором, влияющим на молодежь, являются средства массовой информации. На телевидении и в газетах, журналах содержится множество программ и статей насильственного характера. Отрицательные персонажи становятся идеальными героями для детей, которые пытаютсяповторять их поведение в реальной жизни. Подростки становятся более нервными и агрессивными, их психика серьезно нарушается, и очень часто некоторые из них совершают преступления. Поэтому, я считаю, что преступность – одна из основных проблем современной молодежи.
Известно, что детская и подростковая преступность растет. Практически все преступники – это молодые люди. Это вызвано социальным неравенством, бедностью, доступностью алкоголя и наркотиков. Так как цель общественной идеологии заключается в достижении материального блага, то молодые люди пытаются получить это любой ценной, не прикладывая усилий. Они крадут, насилуют, убивают других людей. В этих условиях количество преступников среди молодежи увеличивается, и это явление естественное и неизбежное.
Алкоголь и наркотики также находятся среди самых актуальных проблем на сегодня. Дети впервые пробуют алкоголь и наркотики, еще учась в школе. Они не понимают насколько опасно это, насколько вредно это для их здоровья. Дети видят в фильмах красивую жизнь посредством сигарет и наркотиков и ведут себя так же, как их герои. Позже они становятся зависимыми от этих вещей и деградируют.
Однако, я думаю, что не вся молодежь – такие плохие люди, у которых отсутствуют моральные качества и достойное поведение, которые не думают о своем будущем. Многие из них обладают истинными ценностями, они готовы усиленно учиться и работать, чтобы получать наслаждение от жизни. Но без помощи старшего поколения молодые люди не смогут этого сделать. Им нужны их крепкая поддержка и советы. Поэтому взрослым необходимо вести молодежь по правильной дороге жизни, учить преодолевать трудности и всегда быть рядом.

Youth is a period of life which is of utmost importance in the life of man. First, man’s entire life is rooted in his early years. The morals and beliefs, range of interests, education, health and habits are all laid in childhood and youth, the personality is shaped. Second, youth is a time when a person is trying to find his place in the world. This period is usually associated with problems: young people ‘struggle’ to fit themselves into society. Difficult decisions and adjustments face young people in today’s society. There are several problems the young generation face. They are the eternal problems of choosing a career and getting education, the problem of independence and money, the problem of unemployment of young people, the generation gap. Young people have many problems of emotional and personal character which may look silly and unimportant in the eyes of grown-ups but appear to be extremely important to the young. They are the problems of friendship and loneliness, as well as the problem of the first love.
Probably the most vital problem is choosing a career, which is really difficult. One thing that makes it so difficult is the responsibility you have to take on — it is widely known that your future life depends on the choice made early in life when your personal experience is not so great. Sometimes you may even be not quite certain about the field of knowledge you are interested in. The second reason is that to make this choice you have to get some idea of the labour market and job opportunities. Third, there are parents who usually have their own idea of your future career and, in many cases, try to make their child choose the career path they prefer.
Perhaps one of the most fundamental problems faced by young people today is unemployment. Young people today have certain needs and aspirations. Because of the universal downturn in the economy combined with technology when particular jobs and skills are made obsolete, many youths today are experiencing problems in obtaining jobs. Unemployment means financial worries, frustration and discouragement. To solve the problem of unemployment, young people should strive for higher education. Then they would be qualified for skilled labour required by industrialized society.
Another problem facing young people today is the tension which exists between parents and children, or the ‘generation gap’. In their eagerness to achieve adult status and live their own life, young people may resent any restrictions. They believe that their parents are overanxious and overprotective, which usually creates tension. The ‘generation gap’ problem is really inevitable. Firstly, every generation is unique in its experience, and young people have always rejected or at least questioned the values of their parents. They have always wanted to learn from their own experience, not from their parents’ standards. Secondly, every younger generation tends to be more educated and better-informed than the previous one; they grow more quickly and enjoy freedom more. Thirdly, parents tend to aggravate the situation: they try to impose their ideas upon their children. It results in young people’s revolt against adult authority. Parents should exercise control over young people, and try to overcome the differences but with sympathy and understanding.
An area which poses a problem for young people and their parents is love and dating. Some parents today are prepared to give their children some freedom, others are overprotective, restricting their children from going out with the opposite sex. Thus, many young people today can’t get the valuable experience of adjusting to other people.
Many youths may not be mature enough to cope with such problems, that is why they go in the direction of crime, drugs, vandalism, drinking etc. Often young people are forced either consciously or unconsciously to become involved in those antisocial activities by people of their own age group. Moreover, they compensate for their feelings by revolting against society and adult authority.
The second one is the problem of friendship. Youth is the time when a person is vulnerable to opinions of different people, especially to the opinions of his peer group. Another problem is problem of love and dating. Some parents are democratic in this respect, and allow their children considerable freedom in their relations with the opposite sex. Others are overprotective and forbid their teenage children to go out with people they like, which, in my opinion, can result in many psychological problems as they prevent their children from getting an experience of communicating with representatives of the opposite sex, and this can lead to serious family problems later.
Grown-ups should work together with young people to help them solve these problems. We must remember that the young people are the leaders of tomorrow.

For me, the most important and difficult problem is that of friendship. Firstly, in spite of the fact I have some conflicts with my parents, I have always known they love me, and I love them, too, and will always do my best to help them and make them happy. Friends are people whose trust and affection you have to win; friendship is art for me. Secondly, my friends normally are my peers, we have common interests, likes and dislikes, so having friends is of utter importance to me. As to dating and love, I don’t think much about it yet. What Are the Main Problems the Teens Are Facing Today?

Speaking about challenges in a teen’s life I’d say first that nowadays young people are facing a lot of problems, which primarily were associated with adult life.
How do you feel about a teen sitting on a bench in the park drinking beer and smoking? Unfortunately, this caricature image has got into our life and the question in fact is why.
I think all that smoking, drugs use and violence among youth are the ways that teens take in trying to escape from their problems. It may sound absurdly, but I believe that the most important thing, which leads young people to stress and depression, is relationships. Naturally I mean all kinds of relationships not only those between boys and girls. We live in the society, not in a desert! Everyone wants people to listen to him/her and to do what he/she wants, and sometimes it’s very hard to contact with the people around.
It’s clear that relations may be of various types: between kids and parents or teachers, between mates or beloveds… And they all bring troubles!
I regret to say that there is no understanding in many families. Parents are not interested in their kids’ lives and let them do anything they want. On the one hand, it’s ok as teenagers are mature enough to make their own decisions. But on the other hand, I think there should be some control in the family, because what kids do can sometimes be not just foolish but totally wrong. They start drinking or taking drugs in trying to express their protest, instead ruining their own lives.
In my opinion, the most important thing for teenagers is school. In fact, school is a model of the real life, the place, where kids learn not only how to square numbers or write correctly, but how to communicate with absolutely different people. At school children have to contact with their mates and teachers and this experience is what they have when entering the grown-up world.
Today such things as discrimination or intolerance at schools are not unusual. Some students find no common themes to discuss with their classmates; not everybody is interested, for example, in fashion news or modern gadgets. So they escape to their own world and often become outsiders. An incapability to contact with people around can lead to a lot of problems such as depression or neurosis and even they end up with suicide, which nowadays becomes, so to say, a normal way to die. Suicides among teenagers often happen as a result of their failures in private affairs. Although there are a lot of books, magazines and films dwelling on the subject, parting with a girl- or boyfriend can be a serious trouble in the young age. Besides, most teens are maximalists and see things in black and white… but – who says we must be wise?! To be a teen means to learn how to live, and it’s impossible to make no mistakes on the way.
Last year I wrote a poem about teens’ problems. It characterizes our life clearly.
Youth
Life is the way that we all have to go,
Life is the mixture of sadness and happiness.
You say, all teens are depressed and alone,
But isn’t youth also the time to be careless?
Tears all the nights, feeling lonely and bad,
Problems with teachers, with friends and with relatives.
Our teen’s life is not only for that!
Don’t paint the World into black, don’t be negative!
Try to be open to parents and friends,
Life will be better and life will be easier.
Youth is the time to have fun, to have rest..
All of your problems are not very serious.

Problems of Youth
Life used to be fun for ‘teenagers’. They used to have money to spend, and free time to spend it in. They used to wear teenage clothes, and meet in teenage coffee bars and discos. Some of them still do. But for many young people, life is harder now. Jobs are difficult to find. There’s not so much money around. Things are more expensive, and it’s hard to find a place to live.
Teachers say that students work harder than they used to. They are less interested in politics, and more interested in passing exams. They know that good exam results may get them better jobs.
Most young people worry more about money than their parents did twenty years ago. They try to spend less and save more. They want to be able to get homes of their own one day.
For some, the answer to unemployment is to leave home and look for work in one of Britain’s big cities. Every day hundreds of young people arrive in London from other parts of Britain, looking for jobs. Some find work, and stay. Others don’t find it, and go home again, or join the many unemployed in London. There used to be one kind of teenage fashion, one style, one top pop group. Then, the girls all wore mini-skirts and everyone danced to the music of the Beatles and the Rolling Stones.
But now an eighteen-year-old might be a punk, with green hair and chains round his legs, or a skin head, with short, short hair and right wing politics, or a ‘rasta’, with long uncombed hair and a love for Africa. There’s a lot of different music around too. There’s reggae, the West Indian sound, there’s rock, there’s heavy metal, country and western, and disco. All these kinds of music are played by different groups and listened to by different fans.
When you read the newspapers and watch the news on television, it’s easy to get the idea that British young people are all unemployed, angry and in trouble.
But that’s not true. Three quarters of them do more or less what their parents did. They do their best at school, find some kind of work in the end, and get married in their early twenties. They get on well with their parents, and enjoy family life. They eat fish and chips, watch football on TV, go to the pub, and like reading about pop stars. After all, if they didn’t, they wouldn’t be British, would they?

Существует масса различной музыки. Есть регги, западно-индийский «саунд», рок, хэви-метал, кантри и вестерн, диско. Все эти стили музыки исполняются разными группами и их слушают разные поклонники.
Когда читаешь газеты и смотришь телевизор, очень легко может сложиться впечатление, что в Англии вся молодежь без работы, обозленная и имеет неприятности.
Это не так. Три четверти из них более или менее занимаются тем же, чем занимались их родители. Они пытаются хорошо учиться в школе, найти хорошую работу и жениться после 20 лет. Они ладят с родителями и наслаждаются семейной жизнью. Они едят рыбу и чипсы, смотрят футбол по телевизору, ходят в бар и любят читать о поп-звездах. В конце концов, если бы они этим не занимались, они не были бы англичанами, не так ли?

До сих пор существует проблема «отцов и детей», недопонимание в семье. Очень большая проблема – наркотики, ведь чтобы достать на них деньги, подростки иногда идут и на преступления. Наряду с наркотиками, существуют зависимости от алкоголя и сигарет. Появилось много неформальных молодежных организаций: скинхеды, хиппи, панки и т.д., среди которых много противоречий. В общем, подросткам негде провести свое свободное время, остаются только ночные клубы или улица.
There are many young people in our country. Each of them has his own point of view on his life and his future. There are many problems which are common for all young people. For example how to spend their free time, what to do after school, choosing a profession, how to deal with girl and boy-friends and so on.
The problem number one of most of the young people is the problem of fathers and sons. All young people want to be independent, they want their parents to listen to their opinion, not to interfere in their private life. Some parents neglect their children, because they can’t find a common language with each other.
Many problems were hushed up, but now we can speak openly about them. I think that the most difficult and serious problem of modern teen-ages is drugs. Some young men take drugs, because they think that will be cool. But they don’t understand, that it’s wrong. Some of them can’t stop that, and they become dependent on drugs. And they commit different crimes, because they need some money to buy drugs. There are also many other problems: alcoholism, smoking and so on.
There are many youth organizations in our country, wich unite young men on different principles. Members of every organisation have their own world outlook. Each of them has his own moral qualities. There are some informal organizations, for example: skinheads, hippies, panks and so on. Now there is also the problem of misunderstanding beetwen different youth groups.
We also face the problem of managing free time. We can do it in different ways. Some of teenagers spend their free time in different night clubs. Other young people spend their free time on the streets.
As for me, I spend my free time at home or in night clubs. I also have some problems with my parents. But every time then i have them I try to slove them without quarrel.
We are young people and we are the future of our country. Teenagers play an important role in the modern society. Grownups must remember that we are the future of our country and in present moment our character is only being formed and that’s why our parents must not assert pressure on us.
There are many different sources of conflict between teenagers and their parents such as dishonesty, smoking, messy room, grades.
Fear of loneliness
Teenagers often have low self-esteem; many of them are not satisfied with their appearance. Sometimes they have to deal with rudeness and intolerance of their coevals.
A lot of teenagers are afraid of loneliness. They want other people to appreciate them. That is why young people tend to join some groups or copy particular models of behaviour.
The problem of coming into adulthood
Most teenagers see adult life as a life full of freedom, independence and great opportunities. Only very few of them realize how much responsibility they would have.
But teenagers often get into trouble because for many of them being adult means staying out at night, trying “adult things” like smoking, drinking alcohol etc.
Physiological problems
During the teenage period the body undergoes a lot of changes. Teenagers usually grow very fast, and sometimes it causes clumsiness and poor coordination. Due to the hormonal changes a lot of young people have problems with their skin and hair.

We can describe all the amazing attractions of this only period in life, which is usually remembered during all lifetime, but many youngsters say that their life is followed by numerous troubles. Really, there is no life without problems, but we can’t make little account of youth problems.
Unfortunately, most of the problems are connected with family relations.
Moms and dads say that teenage rebels just growing up normal. Their parents said it, just as parents say it today.
“Damn kids these days”. This phrase is the fad of the adults of all times.
To my mind, each new generation of kids receives negative reviews because of two entwined social dynamics: surliness and rebellion in youth; fear and loathing by parents, whose youth has passed them by.
It’s called the generation gap, which pits the impertinence of youth against the attitudes of people over 30, who forget what a pain in the butt they were as kids.
If you look at history, youth has always looked bad from the adult perspective. Sometimes it’s because they don’t remember all the stupid, dangerous things they did as kids.
Adults always tend to glorify their own past. It explains the reason why they often look down their noses at the next generations. Basically, what these critical adults are saying is, “why can’t these kids be like us.” It is amazing, but every generation goes through this.
I’m deeply convinced that if some parents are ready to write off the next generation, they should remember how they behaved as young teenagers and recognize rebellion as a sign of growing up.
But we should admit, there are some dangerous temptations of the youth and only parents can preserve their children from such social evil as alcohol, smoking and even early sex and killing oneself by using drugs.
For example, the former Soviet Union admitted that it had over 200,000 drug addicts. Because of this the government opened several special hospitals for these addicts. There’s a big anti-drugs campaign in the country’s schools too. Usually drugs come from several places including Western Europe and Afghanistan. Also, some addicts use glue or steal medical drugs from hospitals.
This problem is closely connected with gang-violence. As well as gangs of punks, rockers and hippies, there are ultra conservative gangs, too. They want to stop “the dangerous” influence of teenage culture in our country. But actually they follow the ideas of nationalism and even fascism.
One more acute problem for many young people is smoking. Millions of teenagers know it’s bad for them, but they still do it. I think it is rather easy to withstand the influence of those who smoke. We should be simply strong enough to say “no”.
Many people offer their way out. Some of them say that teenagers should not be let to the discos because of the danger of drugs; others say that young people should be given more money and more freedom, because everything that is forbidden astonishes.
But in my opinion, one thing is clear: after decades of silence in the Soviet Union we face a lot of urgent problem, which should be solved as soon as it is possible.

же, чем занимались их родители. Они пытаются хорошо учиться в школе,
найти хорошую работу и жениться после 20 лет. Они ладят с родителями
и наслаждаются семейной жизнью. Они едят рыбу и чипсы, смотрят
футбол по телевизору, ходят в бар и любят читать о поп-звездах. В
конце концов, если бы они этим не занимались, они не были бы
англичанами, не так ли?
Everybody says your youth is probably the best time of your life, that being young means romance, love, new discoveries and so on. But it is also the most difficult time because you have to make some very important decisions which will influence all your future life.
Things are not easy nowadays even for adults, but for teenagers who have to find their own place in society, it’s very difficult. It is necessary not only to adapt to your society, but also to be confident about your position in five, ten or twenty years time.
For your future it is essential to have a good job. And to get a really good job you have to be well-educated. Every girl or boy leaving secondary school should choose an institution of higher education or, if he or she doesn’t want to study any more, choose a job straight way. In planning your future you have to think about the possibility of finding a job after finishing your education.
But even if you are studying, you need some money of your own. Your parents probably will provide you with home, food and necessary clothes, but you will have your own tastes, and your parents won’t pay for them. To pay for extra clothes, tapes, books, things necessary for your hobbies, you have to work, and in our country it is very difficult for a teenager to find a job without any qualification. You’re lucky if you can do something that others can’t; for example, if you’re good at Maths or English, you can give lessons.
Emotional problems for young people can be far more difficult than financial ones. The typical teenager problem is that «nobody understands me». The parents often continue to treat their teenage children as if they were infant, when they probably consider themselves to be grown up.
Youth is also the time to meet your first love. It is, of course, wonderful, but, as it is widely known that first love often has an unhappy end, this also encreases young people’s problems.
Even friends cannot always stay friends. When young people begin to understand themselves a little bit better, old friends sometimes just grow apart.
So, as you see, it is very difficult to be young nowadays, as, indeed, it always was. But you only can be young once, and some wonderful things can happen only when you’re young. So, it is better to enjoy youth while it lasts.

Some of them still do. But for many young people, life is harder now. Jobs are difficult to find. There’s not so much money around. Things are more expensive, and it’s hard to find a place to live.
Teachers say that students work harder than they used to. They are less interested in politics, and more interested in passing exams. They know that good exam results may get them better jobs.
Most young people worry more about money than their parents did twenty years ago. They try to spend less and save more. They want to be able to get homes of their own one day.
For some, the answer to unemployment is to leave home and look for work in one of Britain’s big cities. Every day hundreds of young people arrive in London from other parts of Britain, looking for jobs. Some find work, and stay. Others don’t find it, and go home again, or join the many unemployed in London. There used to be one kind of teenage fashion, one style, one top pop group. Then, the girls all wore mini-skirts and everyone danced to the music of the Beatles and the Rolling Stones.
But now an eighteen-year-old might be a punk, with green hair and chains round his legs, or a skin head, with short, short hair and right wing politics, or a ‘rasta’, with long uncombed hair and a love for Africa. There’s a lot of different music around too. There’s reggae, the West Indian sound, there’s rock, there’s heavy metal, country and western, and disco. All these kinds of music are played by different groups and listened to by different fans.
When you read the newspapers and watch the news on television, it’s easy to get the idea that British young people are all unemployed, angry and in trouble.
But that’s not true. Three quarters of them do more or less what their parents did. They do their best at school, find some kind of work in the end, and get married in their early twenties. They get on well with their parents, and enjoy family life. They eat fish and chips, watch football on TV, go to the pub, and like reading about pop stars. After all, if they didn’t, they wouldn’t be British, would they?

The youth is the future, therefore at all times to it was given particular attention. But if now to look at our young generation it seems not such cloudless. Now I look at young men with a heavy heart. On many of those who don`t have reference points, definite purposes in the life, have no present concept of culture and value. It would be desirable to note a word many as among youth there are people whom with pride it is possible to name the country future. But, nevertheless, the picture appears as the sad.
Looking back in the past, we can compare generations of a century of the past and a century of the present. That seemed inadmissible earlier, unfortunately, in present time is norm. This is the predilection of young to alcohol, to drugs, to loose life. To senior generation it is difficult to adapt in present conditions (sensations of hopelessness, uncertainty in tomorrow) and to keep former system of values. I think that to young generation it is much more difficult in this plan so they still don`t have system of values.
Recently the percent of criminal reports with participation of absolutely young people grows. Among offenses attract attention profit-motivated crimes – larceny, extortion of money, swindle. It is connected with that parents can`t satisfy all inquiries of the child as at the young such concept «all and at once» is developed. And teenagers can`t earn on the wished: many simply don`t have desire studies, to reach something by own strength. Even having got education it is difficult for the young to find work, to find the place in a society. The share of young men as a part of the unemployed remains high. The modern youth possesses such line which shows that the most part from it wishes to have a good income, thus, having no trades and no desires to work. It occurs because the youth doesn`t have stimulus to work. The majority has appeared without reliable social reference points. The choice of a course of life began to be defined not by abilities and interests of a young man, and concrete circumstances. From a hopelessness of realization of the possibilities young men, as a rule, follow a wrong way.
It would be desirable to note and some negative influence of technologies. Now it is quite often to meet that children prefer to spend time in the virtual world, for a place of a real dialogue with contemporaries, productive leisure or sports employment. Display of immoral, cruel cartoon films and serials also make negative impact. Sometimes characters of films, instead of parents, grandmothers and grandfathers tell about good and harm representation, that such is good and that such is bad. Perhaps, therefore all of us should face cruelty of children, their disrespect to each other, to the senior generation is more often. I had to meet cruel treatment of children to animals.
In my opinion, the problem of employment of children, teenagers can be solved by their attraction in public works, in sports, to help them to develop their interests, to open talents. It is necessary no to build the big shopping centers, but sports complexes, the centers of employment of children. It is necessary to give more attention to children from unsuccessful families. Support of the state to students, young families, young men which search for work is important also. Formation of viable growing up young generation becomes one of the main strategic problems of development of the country.
Youth is the finest time in life of each person. It is the time, when the person especially feels surplus of physical strengths and flexibility of a body, fast rate enriches mind, the horizon of its knowledge extends. If mind, force and will of young men to direct to the necessary way, to help them to develop their interests and the initiative our country will go on the way to prosperity, force and to the light future.
Молодежь – это будущее, поэтому во все времена к ней уделялось особое внимание. Но если сейчас посмотреть на наше молодое поколение, то оно кажется не таким безоблачным. В настоящее время я смотрю на молодых людей с болью в сердце. На многих из тех, у которых нет ориентиров, определенных целей в жизни, нет понятия культуры и ценности. Хотелось бы отметить слово многие, так как в ряду молодежи есть люди, которых с гордостью можно назвать будущее страны. Но, тем не менее, картина предстает печальной.
Оглядываясь в прошлое, мы можем сравнить поколения века минувшего и века настоящего. То, что раньше казалось недопустимым, в наше время, к сожалению, является нормой. Это пристрастие молодых к алкоголю, к наркотикам, к разгульной жизни. Старшему поколению сложно адаптироваться в нынешних условиях (ощущения бесперспективности, неуверенности в завтрашнем дне) и сохранить прежнюю систему ценностей. Я думаю, что молодому поколению гораздо сложнее в этом плане, так у них еще нет своей системы ценностей.
В последнее время растет процент криминальных сводок с участием совсем юных людей. Среди правонарушений обращают на себя внимание корыстные преступления – воровство, вымогательство денег, мошенничество. Это связано с тем, что родители не могут удовлетворить все запросы своего ребенка, так как у молодых развито такое понятие «все и сразу». И сами же подростки не могут заработать на желаемое: у многих просто нет желания учится, достигать чего-то своими силами. Даже получив образование молодым трудно найти работу, найти свое место в обществе. Доля молодых людей в составе безработных остается высокой. Современная молодежь обладает такой чертой, которая показывает, что большая часть из нее желает иметь хороший доход, при этом, не имея не профессии не желания работать. Это происходит в связи с тем, что у молодежи отсутствуют стимулы к труду. Большинство оказалось без надежных социальных ориентиров. Выбор жизненного пути стал определяться не способностями и интересами молодого человека, а конкретными обстоятельствами. От безысходности реализации своих возможностей молодые люди, как правило, встают на неправильный путь.
Хотелось бы отметить и некоторое негативное влияние технологий. Сейчас нередко можно встретится с тем, что дети предпочитают проводить время в виртуальном мире, за место реального общения со сверстниками, активного отдыха или занятием спорта. Показ безнравственных, жестоких мультфильмов и сериалов также оказывают отрицательное влияние. Подчас именно персонажи фильмов, а не родители, бабушки и дедушки рассказывают о представлении добра и зла, о том, что такое хорошо и что такое плохо. Может быть, поэтому нам все чаще приходится сталкиваться с жестокостью детей, их неуважением друг к другу, к старшему поколению. Не раз мне приходилось встречаться с жестоким обращением детей к животным.
На мой взгляд, проблему занятости детей, подростков можно решить путем привлечения их в общественные работы, в спорт, помочь им развить их интересы, раскрыть таланты. Нужно строить не большие торговые центры, а спортивные комплексы, центры занятости детей. Нужно больше уделять внимания детям из неблагополучных семей. Немаловажна также поддержка государства студентам, молодым семьям, молодым людям, которые ищут работу. Формирование жизнеспособного подрастающего молодого поколения становится одной из главных стратегических задач развития страны.
Молодость – это самая прекрасная пора в жизни каждой личности. Пора, когда человек особенно чувствует избыток физических сил и гибкость тела, быстрым темпом обогащается ум, расширяется горизонт его познания. Если ум, силу, волю молодых людей направить в нужное русло, помочь им развить их интересы, инициативу, то наша страна будет идти по пути к процветанию, силе и к светлому будущему.
