Today, our planet is in serious danger. Acid rains, global warming, air and water pollution, overpopulation are the problems that threaten human life on Earth.
Who is to blame for the disaster? The answer is simple: all of us. Our forests are disappearing because they are cut down or burnt. If this trend continues, one day we won’t have enough oxygen to breathe.
The seas are in danger. They are filled with poison: industrial and nuclear waste, chemical fertilizers and pesticides. The Mediterranean is already nearly dead; the North Sea is following. The Aral Sea is on the brink of extinction. If nothing is done about it, one day nothing will be able to live in the seas.
Every ten minutes one kind of animal, plant or insect dies out for ever. If nothing is done about it, one million species that are alive today may soon become extinct.
Air pollution is another serious problem. In Cairo just breathing the air is dangerous — equivalent to smoking two packs of cigarettes a day. The same holds true for many Russian cities. Factories emit tons of harmful chemicals. These emissions have disastrous consequences for our planet. They are the main reason for the greenhouse effect and acid rains. An even greater threat are nuclear power stations. We all know how tragic the consequences of the Chernobyl disaster are.
Fortunately, it’s not too late to solve these problems. We have the time, the money and even the technology to make our planet a better, cleaner and safer place. We can plant trees and create parks for endangered species. We can recycle litter. We can support green parties and put pressure on those in power. Together we can save the planet and all of us with it.

Every year world industry pollutes the air that we breathe with. A great number of cities suffer from smog. Rainforests are cut down. Their disappearance upsets the oxygen balance. As a result, some rare species of animals, birds, fish and plants are extinct. A lot of seas, rivers and lakes are filled with poison like industrial and nuclear wastes, chemical fertilizers and pesticides. The pollution of air and the world’s ocean, destruction of the ozone layer is the result of man’s careless interaction with nature, a sign of the ecological crisis.
People should consider their attitude to the environment. Some progress has already been made in this direction. Numerous conferences have been held by a lot of agencies to discuss problems facing ecologically poor regions including the Aral Sea, the South Urals, Kuzbass, Donbass and Chernobyl. Greenpeace is also doing much to preserve the environment.
What can we do to save our planet? First of all, people should switch to alternative forms of power, such as solar power or wind power. Secondly, the use of atomic power must be banned. Thirdly, we need to recycle. It’s the art of turning waste into new products. It would be a good idea if people started riding bicycles instead of driving cars. We are obliged to protect nature. If everybody cares, it will make a difference.

They are earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, floods, tsunami, tornadoes, droughts and so on.
Природные катастрофы являются очень опасными явлениями. Стихийное бедствие может произойти отдельно или быть следствием другой природной катастрофы. В большинстве случаев из-за них погибают много людей и разрушаются места проживания людей. Природа могущественна, поэтому часто люди не могут ничего сделать, чтобы противостоять ей. Существует много видов стихийных бедствий. К ним относятся землетрясения, извержения вулканов, наводнения, цунами, торнадо, засухи и т.д.
Tsunami is a very powerful disaster. It is a displacement of a large volume of water. The term “tsunami” is borrowed from the Japanese language and literally means “harbour wave”. Tsunami often happen in Japan and one of the most powerful tsunami happened in Japan in 2011. Thousands of people were killed, injured or missing.
Цунами является очень мощным бедствием. Это смещение большого объема воды. Термин «цунами» заимствован из японского языка и в буквальном переводе означает «порт, волна». Цунами часто случаются в Японии, и одно из самых мощных цунами произошло в Японии в 2011 году, тогда тысячи людей погибли, были ранены или пропали без вести.
Tsunami often follows earthquakes. An earthquake is one more natural disaster. It is a sudden release of energy in the Earth’s crust. People know about the earthquakes by shaking or displacement of the ground. Earthquakes, just as all natural disasters, can kill a lot of people and destroy buildings and roads. For example, the Great East Japan Earthquake that caused the tsunami is one of the most powerful earthquakes ever happened in the world since 1900.
Цунами часто следует за землетрясением. Землетрясения – еще одна природная катастрофа. Это внезапное высвобождение энергии в земной коре. Люди узнают о землетрясениях из-за дрожания земли или смещения грунта. Землетрясения, как и все стихийные бедствия, могут унести жизни многих людей и разрушить здания и дороги. Например, Великое восточно-японское землетрясение, которое вызвало тогда же цунами, является одним из самых мощных землетрясений, когда-либо происходивших в мире, начиная с 1900 года.
Fortunately, people have invented many systems which warn about coming natural disasters and they keep developing these inventions and systems. Warning systems and timely evacuation help to avoid many deaths and injuries.
К счастью, люди изобрели множество систем, которые предупреждают о предстоящих стихийных бедствиях, и ученые продолжают развивать эти изобретения и системы. Системы предупреждения и своевременная эвакуация помогают предотвращать множество смертельных случаев.

I want to tell you about our Earth. I want to say what people ruins and want they can lose.
Many people want to save the Earth, but they don`t know how to do it. They don`t know how to protect wild animals, plants, and how to keep water clean and air fresh. Water is very important in the life of people. There is a lot of water on our planet. It is in rivers, oceans, lakes and seas.
At the same time there is a little water on the planet. In many lakes and rivers the water is very dirty. Sometimes people can`t swim in seas, rivers and lakes because water is dirty. In many places water is not able to drink and it is dangerous to use it when you cook. Even fish die in such water.
Some people`s activities do a lot of harm to the forests. People cut down trees to build farms, homes and roads. Many animals and plants lose their homes. Many of them die. This is bad for the air of the Earth too. Modern plants and factories send a lot of smoke in the atmosphere. This is very bad, because nowadays it`s difficult to breathe in big cities.
So, the problem now is to protect life on the Earth, and to save our planet for the future. I believe that we must think about our planet and we mustn`t cut down trees, dump to the rivers. Then in the future our world will be beautiful.
Я хочу рассказать вам о нашей Земле. Я хочу сказать, что люди разрушают и что они могут разрушить.
Много людей хотят спасти планету, но они не знают, как это сделать. Они не знают как защищать животных, растения и как сохранить воду чистой, а воздух свежим. Вода очень важна в жизни людей. Много воды на нашей планете. Она находится в реках, океанах, озёрах и морях.
В настоящее время воды на планете мало. Во многих озёрах и реках вода очень грязная. Иногда люди не могут плавать в морях, реках и озёрах потому, что вода грязная. Во многих местах вода не употребительна и это опасно, когда ты готовишь. Даже рыба умирает в загрязнённой воде.
Некоторые действия людей наносят много вреда лесам. Люди вырубают деревья, строят фабрики, дома и дороги. Многие животные и растения теряют свои дома. Многие из них погибают. Это плохо для воздуха на земле тоже. Современные заводы и фабрики посылают много дыма в атмосферу. Это очень плохо, потому что сейчас сложно дышать в больших городах.
Итак, сейчас проблема защищать жизнь на земле, и спасти нашу планету для будущего. Я думаю, что мы должны думать о нашей планете, и мы не должны срубать деревья, мусорить в реки. Тогда в будущем мир будет красивым.

Природа
Mother-Nature is so varied. We usually divide it into two types: wildlife and inorganic nature. Animals, plants, weather, water or earth, all is the part of nature. People are also the part of nature. Sometimes we forget about it and do harm to the nature. Nature is our home. We live here. It is the main reason why we must not pollute the nature and do harm to it. We must protect it from air or water pollution or unauthorized disposal fields, for example.
Мать-природа так разнообразна. Мы обычно делим природу на два типа: живая и неживая. Животные, растения, погода, вода или земля — все это часть природы. Люди также являются частью природы. Иногда мы забываем об этом и причиняем вред природе. Природа — наш дом. Мы живем здесь. Это главная причина, по которой мы не должны загрязнять природу и причинять ей вред. Например, мы должны защищать ее от загрязнения воздуха или загрязнения воды или несанкционированных свалок.
Nature is beautiful. We enjoy and admire it. All over the world we can find unique places that seem to be from a fairy tale. Fascinating waterfalls and unusual landscapes attract millions tourists from every part of our planet. I want to travel a lot in my life to see as many places as possible. Even in one place you may find a lot of interesting.
Природа прекрасна. Мы наслаждаемся и восхищаемся ею. Во всем мире мы можем найти уникальные места, которые, кажется, словно из сказки. Чарующие водопады и необычные пейзажи привлекают миллионы туристов со всех уголков нашей планеты. Я хочу много путешествовать, чтобы увидеть как можно больше мест. Даже в одном месте планеты вы можете найти много интересного.
I want to travel through Russia. Nature here varies from city to city. I like pine woods in Siberia, warm and sunny weather of the Black sea areas, volcanoes in Kamchatka. There are so many fascinating and wonderful places!
Я хочу путешествовать по России. Природа здесь меняется от города к городу. Мне нравятся хвойные леса в Сибири, теплая и солнечная погода в районе Черного моря, вулканы на Камчатке. Так много увлекательных и замечательных мест!
You will definitely enjoy nature in every country, in every part of the Earth. Nature may be beautiful with its waterfalls and landscapes or awful and powerful with its disasters. Anyway it is our home and we are the part of it. Enjoy nature and keep it.
Вы обязательно насладитесь природой в любой стране, во всех уголках Земли. Она может завораживать водопадами и пейзажами или ужасать мощью природных катастроф. Так или иначе, природа – это наш дом, и мы ее часть. Наслаждайтесь природой и берегите ее.
