My family lives in a big house. This house was built by my great grandfather and all my family used to live here before.
We have a nice garden outside with flowers and trees, fresh vegetables and fruit. In summer our relatives like to come here and enjoy vacation. In winter we decorate our Christmas tree outside, so everyone can see how wonderful it is to have own house.
We have a big dining-room, big kitchen, 4 bedrooms ( for my parents, me, my sister and some guests). My mom likes flowers so in one room we have many different flowers. My mom made it like a winter garden. There is a lot of light and space there. So it’s nice to come here in the winter and relax in quite place.
I like to invite my friends here. They say my home is huge and the most beautiful one. If we are celebrating any holidays with relatives or friends, we celebrate here. We have enough space for everyone.
My house is not in the center of the town. Shops and markets are not really close, but it’s even better. Close to our house we have a big nice park and river.
Summer is especially great and fantastic here. We put swimming pool outside and play around. I can say that my relatives did a great job building a wonderful house for many years ahead. Sometime people ask if we want to sell the house and my parents always laughed and say no. When I was a child I didn’t understand why. Now I can say in future I would like to stay in our big beautiful family house forever.

I live in a 10-storeyed brick block of flats in a peaceful district, not so far from the centre of the city. I moved here 6 years ago with my parents and a little sister. Our house is surrounded by a children’s park and some shops. Our flat is on the top floor and it’s 80 square meters, so it’s very light and spacious. It is also well-planned and comfortable. There are all necessary modern conveniences in the flat: hot and cold water, gas, heating, television and internet connection, electricity, a refuse chute.
We have a living-room, a kitchen, a bathroom, two bedrooms and a pantry. The biggest room is our kitchen. We cook there and have meals at a big wooden table. The gas-stove, the fridge and the sideboard for dishes and glassware are built-in. We use all modern kitchen gadgets here: an electric kettle, a microwave oven, a dish-washer, a coffee machine, a food processor, a toaster.
The view from the windows in our living-room is amazing. Our guests admire the picturesque scenery of the wood and the river. There is an artificial fire-place in the wall and a fluffy carpet on the parquet floor in the middle of the room. We often lie on it watching some good movie on TV. My mother is fond of growing plants, so the living-room is full of palm-trees and blooming plants. It looks fantastic.
I have a room of my own. According to my taste I chose the wallpaper for the walls and the furniture: a sofa with lovely cushions, a wardrobe, a writing desk and a floor lamp. The window is framed with peach silk curtains. The floor in my room is covered with wall-to-wall carpeting. I love my bedroom, it’s very cozy and warm.
Probably my flat isn’t ideal to someone’s mind. But for me it’s the best place to relax and meet my family. They say: “East or West, home is best”. My parents are very hospitable and we keep our house open for friends and relatives.

Everyone dreams of his or her ideal house. I am not an exception. I dream of a house which is placed on the outskirts of the big city. The house should be a two-storey one and have an attic. There should also be a big yard surrounded by the fence.

We have a nice flat in a new block of flats. Our flat is on the fourth floor. It has all modern conveniences: central heating, gas, electricity, cold and hot water, a lift and a chute to carry rubbish down There are three rooms, a kitchen, a bathroom and a hall in our flat.
The living-room is the largest and most comfortable room in the flat. In the middle of the room we have a square-table with six chairs round it. To the right of the dinner-table there is a wall-unit which has several sections: a sideboard, a wardrobe and some shelves. At the opposite wall there is a piano and stool before it. Between the two large windows there is a little table with a colour TV set on it. Near the TV set there are two cosy armchairs. A small round table, a divan-bed and a standard lamp are in the left-hand corner. This small table is for newspapers and magazines. My father is used to having a rest sitting on this divan-bed reading books, newspapers, magazines or watching TV.
The bedroom is smaller than the living-room and not so light as there is only one window in it. In this room there are two beds. An alarm-clock and a small lamp with a pink lamp-shade are on the table. In the left-hand corner there is a dressing-table with a big mirror.. In this room we have a built-in wardrobe with coat-hangers to-hang clothes on. There is a thick carpet on the floor and plain light-brown curtains on the window. The third room is my study. It is not large but very cosy. There isn’t much furniture in it, only the most necessary. It has a writing-table and an armchair before it. In the right-hand corner there is a bookcase full of books, magazines and newspapers. A small table with a radio is standing in the left-hand corner. Near it there is a sofa with some cushions. In my opinion, the study is the best room in our flat.
But the warmest place in our flat is the kitchen, I think — the place where the whole family gathers every evening not only to have supper together, but also to speak and rest. I like the English proverb: “My home is my castle” because my flat is, indeed, my castle.
The ground floor of the house is much busier than the first one. Here you can find a hall, a large living-room with a fireplace, a cosy dining-room connected with a kitchen, a bathroom. The unique feature of the ground floor and the real pride of our house is its winter garden where tropical kinds of plants and flowers grow all year round. We should be thankful to our mother for this garden which is the most beautiful corner in the whole house. Undoubtedly, she has a green thumb.
The first floor is a calm and quiet place. There are three small bedrooms, a library, a bathroom and a balcony upstairs. The library is equipped with lots of bookshelves, two comfortable armchairs, a desk and an office chair. In the bedrooms there are beds, wardrobes, mirrors. When the weather is fine we bring chairs and a table to the balcony and enjoy warm evenings outside.

My parents got married in 1983 when the Soviet Union still existed. As you know, at Soviet Union times almost all young couples were given flats free of charge, which looked absolutely similar. The same happened to my parents. They were given a three-roomed flat in one of the sleeping quarters of our town. But my mother tried to make our flat unlike the others.
There are three rooms, a hall, a kitchen, a bathroom, a toilet and two balconies in my flat. When you enter my flat, you appear in a long hall where you can find a set of wardrobes and a big mirror.
On the right hand there is a kitchen. Our kitchen is not very big but it is very cozy. There you can find all the appliances you need in a modern kitchen. There is a fridge, a gas cooker, a microwave oven, a food processor, a mixer, a coffee maker and so on. Also there is modern furniture, a kitchen table and four chairs. The walls are decorated with embroidered pictures. There is a big window in the kitchen and that’s why this room is always full of sunlight. My family likes to spend time in the kitchen because it is the warmest and the most comfortable place in my flat.
Going along the hall, you will enter a living room (also on the right hand). This room is my father’s favourite. He likes to have a rest there, lying on the sofa and watching TV. There is a set of wardrobes and bookcases on the right side of the room. On the left side there is a sofa, two armchairs and a coffee table between them. Also there is a big TV set in front of the sofa. There is a big window and a balcony in this room. My mother likes plants very much and that’s why this room and the balcony are full of plants.
Next to the living-room you can find a children’s room. It used to be my sister’s and my room but as my sister lives separately, this room is mine now. This is the smallest room in the flat but it doesn’t diminish its advantages. There is a wardrobe, a sofa, a bookcase, a desk with a computer on it and a dressing table. There is a fluffy carpet on the floor. There are posters on the walls and pot plants on the windowsill.
Our bathroom is painted in green colours. Our bathtub and a wash basin are yellow. Our towels and bathrobes are of different colours, the rug is blue, so that’s why when you enter this room you have an impression that you are inside a rainbow.
The toilet-room is really very small. There is nothing except a toilet and a small cabinet next to it.
So, let’s move to the last room in my flat. It is at the end of the hall on your left hand. This is my parents’ room. There is a double-bed, two bedside cabinets and a big wardrobe in this room. It is painted in warm colours and it is always a pleasure to rest there, reading a book or watching TV, which is on the wall. There is the second balcony in this room.
As they say, “My home is my castle”. So my home is a real castle for me and I don’t want to have another one. Оя квартира и мой дом / My Flat and my houseI live in a comfortable city flat in a 9-stored block of flats not far from the centre of Samara. It is not a very green place, but still there are many trees around the house and in summer the yard looks very beautiful and cozy. The house is located comfortably because there a few supermarkets, pharmacies around and a cinema.My flat is on the fourth floor. It’s very comfortable and well-planned. There are three rooms, a kitchen, a bathroom and a balcony overlooking the yard.We have all modern conveniences, such as central heating, electricity, cold and hot running water and a telephone. The largest room in our flat is the living room. My family uses it as a sitting room. There is a sofa, two armchairs, a small glass coffee table, a TV set on the wall and a DVD player in it. We use this room to meet the guests and to celebrate all holidays and important family occasions.Two other rooms are a bedroom of my parents and my bedroom. My room is rather small but it is very cozy. I like it so much, because this is my own place, my own corner.I have all the things that I need there – a soft bed at the right corner, a table near the window with a computer and a wardrobe near the wall.Our kitchen is not very large but it’s light. It’s very well-equipped. We have got a refrigerator, a microwave oven, an electric teapot, a coffee maker and a toaster and a lot of other household stuff. My mum likes cooking very much and in the evenings my family likes having dinner together in the kitchen – it’s our family tradition.
My family lives in a big house. This house was built by my great grandfather and all my family used to live here before.
We have a nice garden outside with flowers and trees, fresh vegetables and fruit. In summer our relatives like to come here and enjoy vacation. In winter we decorate our Christmas tree outside, so everyone can see how wonderful it is to have own house.
We have a big dining-room, big kitchen, 4 bedrooms ( for my parents, me, my sister and some guests). My mom likes flowers so in one room we have many different flowers. My mom made it like a winter garden. There is a lot of light and space there. So it’s nice to come here in the winter and relax in quite place.
I like to invite my friends here. They say my home is huge and the most beautiful one. If we are celebrating any holidays with relatives or friends, we celebrate here. We have enough space for everyone.
My house is not in the center of the town. Shops and markets are not really close, but it’s even better. Close to our house we have a big nice park and river.
Summer is especially great and fantastic here. We put swimming pool outside and play around. I can say that my relatives did a great job building a wonderful house for many years ahead. Sometime people ask if we want to sell the house and my parents always laughed and say no. When I was a child I didn’t understand why. Now I can say in future I would like to stay in our big beautiful family house forever.

Иногда люди интересуются, хотим ли мы продать наш дом, а родители всегда смеются и отвечают нет. Когда я была ребёнком, я не понимала причину отказа. А сейчас заявляю: я бы хотела остаться в нашем большом, красивом семейном доме навсегда.
I live in a 10-storeyed brick block of flats in a peaceful district, not so far from the centre of the city. I moved here 6 years ago with my parents and a little sister. Our house is surrounded by a children’s park and some shops. Our flat is on the top floor and it’s 80 square meters, so it’s very light and spacious. It is also well-planned and comfortable. There are all necessary modern conveniences in the flat: hot and cold water, gas, heating, television and internet connection, electricity, a refuse chute.
We have a living-room, a kitchen, a bathroom, two bedrooms and a pantry. The biggest room is our kitchen. We cook there and have meals at a big wooden table. The gas-stove, the fridge and the sideboard for dishes and glassware are built-in. We use all modern kitchen gadgets here: an electric kettle, a microwave oven, a dish-washer, a coffee machine, a food processor, a toaster.
The view from the windows in our living-room is amazing. Our guests admire the picturesque scenery of the wood and the river. There is an artificial fire-place in the wall and a fluffy carpet on the parquet floor in the middle of the room. We often lie on it watching some good movie on TV. My mother is fond of growing plants, so the living-room is full of palm-trees and blooming plants. It looks fantastic.
I have a room of my own. According to my taste I chose the wallpaper for the walls and the furniture: a sofa with lovely cushions, a wardrobe, a writing desk and a floor lamp. The window is framed with peach silk curtains. The floor in my room is covered with wall-to-wall carpeting. I love my bedroom, it’s very cozy and warm.
Probably my flat isn’t ideal to someone’s mind. But for me it’s the best place to relax and meet my family. They say: “East or West, home is best”. My parents are very hospitable and we keep our house open for friends and relatives.

Наша квартира довольно просторная. В ней есть прихожая, гостиная, кухня, ванная и туалет. Ванная комната и туалет совершенно обыкновенные: ванна, раковина, зеркало, пара полок с косметикой и унитаз. В прихожей огромный шкаф со всей нашей одеждой, обычно мы одеваемся там.
Половина гостиной – это место для отдыха с двухъярусной кроватью, диваном и компьютерным столом. Вторая половина – это мамина мастерская. Там она работает над своими картинами и скульптурами. Наша кухня – это «несколько комнат в одной»: в ней мы готовим, едим и занимаемся учебой. Там есть буфет, кухонный стол, газовая плита, духовка, раковина и обеденный стол с четырьмя стульями. Нам также пришлось поставить сюда книжный шкаф, потому что в гостиной оказалось недостаточно места. Так что мы также используем обеденный стол, когда читаем или что-то пишем. Это довольно удобно. Everyone dreams of his or her ideal house. I am not an exception. I dream of a house which is placed on the outskirts of the big city. The house should be a two-storey one and have an attic. There should also be a big yard surrounded by the fence.

As the house is located on the outskirts there should be a garage for two cars. It would be wonderful to have a garden with fruit trees, a playground, a bath-house and a workshop. There should be a porch where I can have tea with my friends.

There is a kitchen near the dining room. It is very modern. We have a lot of household appliances: a fridge, a stove, a dishwasher, a mixer, a blender, a bread maker and a microwave in it.
We have a bathroom and a toilet. I have got my own room and there is my parents’ bedroom next to my room. My room is wonderful, it is large and bright. I have everything I need: a computer desk, a sofa, two armchairs, a wardrobe, a large mirror and a lot of posters on the walls.

We have a nice flat in a new block of flats. Our flat is on the fourth floor. It has all modern conveniences: central heating, gas, electricity, cold and hot water, a lift and a chute to carry rubbish down There are three rooms, a kitchen, a bathroom and a hall in our flat.
The living-room is the largest and most comfortable room in the flat. In the middle of the room we have a square-table with six chairs round it. To the right of the dinner-table there is a wall-unit which has several sections: a sideboard, a wardrobe and some shelves. At the opposite wall there is a piano and stool before it. Between the two large windows there is a little table with a colour TV set on it. Near the TV set there are two cosy armchairs. A small round table, a divan-bed and a standard lamp are in the left-hand corner. This small table is for newspapers and magazines. My father is used to having a rest sitting on this divan-bed reading books, newspapers, magazines or watching TV.
The bedroom is smaller than the living-room and not so light as there is only one window in it. In this room there are two beds. An alarm-clock and a small lamp with a pink lamp-shade are on the table. In the left-hand corner there is a dressing-table with a big mirror.. In this room we have a built-in wardrobe with coat-hangers to-hang clothes on. There is a thick carpet on the floor and plain light-brown curtains on the window. The third room is my study. It is not large but very cosy. There isn’t much furniture in it, only the most necessary. It has a writing-table and an armchair before it. In the right-hand corner there is a bookcase full of books, magazines and newspapers. A small table with a radio is standing in the left-hand corner. Near it there is a sofa with some cushions. In my opinion, the study is the best room in our flat.
But the warmest place in our flat is the kitchen, I think — the place where the whole family gathers every evening not only to have supper together, but also to speak and rest. I like the English proverb: “My home is my castle” because my flat is, indeed, my castle.
The ground floor of the house is much busier than the first one. Here you can find a hall, a large living-room with a fireplace, a cosy dining-room connected with a kitchen, a bathroom. The unique feature of the ground floor and the real pride of our house is its winter garden where tropical kinds of plants and flowers grow all year round. We should be thankful to our mother for this garden which is the most beautiful corner in the whole house. Undoubtedly, she has a green thumb.
The first floor is a calm and quiet place. There are three small bedrooms, a library, a bathroom and a balcony upstairs. The library is equipped with lots of bookshelves, two comfortable armchairs, a desk and an office chair. In the bedrooms there are beds, wardrobes, mirrors. When the weather is fine we bring chairs and a table to the balcony and enjoy warm evenings outside.

A person’s home is as much a reflection of his personality as the clothes he wears, the food he eats and the friends he spends his time with. Everybody has in mind an “ideal house” and an “ideal home”. How do I see my “ideal house”, how do I see my life there?
There are many kinds of dwellings, from town houses, which include terraced houses, semi-detached, detached houses, to country houses.
I want to live in my own house, maybe in a cottage in the suburbs. My house will consist of the ground and the first floor. There will be six rooms in it. In front of the house I will have a small garden with different flowers. I’ll also have a garage for my car.
Here is a brief description of the house I dream of. My bathroom is very good-looking: the walls are tiled in cream, the washbasin, the toilet are pastel pink. My towels are also pink. Then I go to the kitchen to have breakfast. It is always pleasant to cook in it because it is very comfortable. I make my tea and sandwiches and have breakfast. Then I go to my work, but in the evening “there is no place like home”. I have rest in the living-room. I can sit on the sofa and read or watch TV. Then I go to the bedroom. It is my favourite room. Here I sleep and see my sweet dreams.

We all live somewhere: in an apartment, in a house, etc. As the English say, “My home — my castle!”. Our house is a place where we spend most of our life, in addition to work, study and travel. We strive to set up our home and make it as comfortable as possible. Whether it’s a room, apartment or house, this is a reflection of our preferences and desires. We demonstrate our home to others and try to know how other people live.
I would like to describe my apartment, my “castle”. Our family lives in the apartment with two bedrooms and a living room. Our apartment is bright and cozy, though small. Each room is good in its own way.
Living-room is the largest room in the apartment. There is a large sofa and a coffee table there. There are the bookshelves on the walls. In front of the sofa there is a TV set. This is where our family spends the evening time and welcomes visitors.
My parent”s bedroom is furnished by my mother’s taste. There is a simple wardrobe and a big soft bed in it. The window is decorated with beautiful burgundy curtains. Everything is very simple and rustic.
Finally, let me describe my room. It is very light. I sleep on the couch of a light color. In my room, there are two cases, one for clothing and one for the books. Between them there is the computer table. I decorated the room with posters and photographs. In the bookcase there are souvenirs and gifts from my friends. It seems to be a usual room, but for me my room is the dearest.

Родительская спальня обставлена по маминому вкусу. Простой шкаф для одежды и большая мягкая кровать. Окно украшают красивые бордовые гардины. Все очень просто и уютно.
Ну и наконец, моя комната. Она очень светлая. Я сплю на мягком диване светлого цвета. В моей комнате стоят два шкафа, один для одежды, другой для книг. Между ними находится компьютерный стол. Свою комнату я украсил плакатами и фотографиями. В шкафу стоят сувениры и подарки моих друзей. Вроде бы обычная комната, но для меня самая родная.

My parents got married in 1983 when the Soviet Union still existed. As you know, at Soviet Union times almost all young couples were given flats free of charge, which looked absolutely similar. The same happened to my parents. They were given a three-roomed flat in one of the sleeping quarters of our town. But my mother tried to make our flat unlike the others.
There are three rooms, a hall, a kitchen, a bathroom, a toilet and two balconies in my flat. When you enter my flat, you appear in a long hall where you can find a set of wardrobes and a big mirror.
On the right hand there is a kitchen. Our kitchen is not very big but it is very cozy. There you can find all the appliances you need in a modern kitchen. There is a fridge, a gas cooker, a microwave oven, a food processor, a mixer, a coffee maker and so on. Also there is modern furniture, a kitchen table and four chairs. The walls are decorated with embroidered pictures. There is a big window in the kitchen and that’s why this room is always full of sunlight. My family likes to spend time in the kitchen because it is the warmest and the most comfortable place in my flat.
Going along the hall, you will enter a living room (also on the right hand). This room is my father’s favourite. He likes to have a rest there, lying on the sofa and watching TV. There is a set of wardrobes and bookcases on the right side of the room. On the left side there is a sofa, two armchairs and a coffee table between them. Also there is a big TV set in front of the sofa. There is a big window and a balcony in this room. My mother likes plants very much and that’s why this room and the balcony are full of plants.
Next to the living-room you can find a children’s room. It used to be my sister’s and my room but as my sister lives separately, this room is mine now. This is the smallest room in the flat but it doesn’t diminish its advantages. There is a wardrobe, a sofa, a bookcase, a desk with a computer on it and a dressing table. There is a fluffy carpet on the floor. There are posters on the walls and pot plants on the windowsill.
Our bathroom is painted in green colours. Our bathtub and a wash basin are yellow. Our towels and bathrobes are of different colours, the rug is blue, so that’s why when you enter this room you have an impression that you are inside a rainbow.
The toilet-room is really very small. There is nothing except a toilet and a small cabinet next to it.
So, let’s move to the last room in my flat. It is at the end of the hall on your left hand. This is my parents’ room. There is a double-bed, two bedside cabinets and a big wardrobe in this room. It is painted in warm colours and it is always a pleasure to rest there, reading a book or watching TV, which is on the wall. There is the second balcony in this room.
As they say, “My home is my castle”. So my home is a real castle for me and I don’t want to have another one.

Оя квартира и мой дом / My Flat and my houseI live in a comfortable city flat in a 9-stored block of flats not far from the centre of Samara. It is not a very green place, but still there are many trees around the house and in summer the yard looks very beautiful and cozy. The house is located comfortably because there a few supermarkets, pharmacies around and a cinema.My flat is on the fourth floor. It’s very comfortable and well-planned. There are three rooms, a kitchen, a bathroom and a balcony overlooking the yard.We have all modern conveniences, such as central heating, electricity, cold and hot running water and a telephone. The largest room in our flat is the living room. My family uses it as a sitting room. There is a sofa, two armchairs, a small glass coffee table, a TV set on the wall and a DVD player in it. We use this room to meet the guests and to celebrate all holidays and important family occasions.Two other rooms are a bedroom of my parents and my bedroom. My room is rather small but it is very cozy. I like it so much, because this is my own place, my own corner.I have all the things that I need there – a soft bed at the right corner, a table near the window with a computer and a wardrobe near the wall.Our kitchen is not very large but it’s light. It’s very well-equipped. We have got a refrigerator, a microwave oven, an electric teapot, a coffee maker and a toaster and a lot of other household stuff.
