It was founded in 1703 by Peter the Great. One can only imagine how rich its history is. For a long time St. Petersburg was the capital of Russia. Nowadays it is the second largest city in Russia and the third largest city in Europe, with the population of more than 5 million people (2015).
St. Petersburg is an important economic, scientific and cultural centre of the country. A lot of enterprises and international companies are located here. Tourism also plays a great role in the economic development of the city. St. Petersburg is not only beloved by Russian citizens, it is the place which foreigners will never forget.
St. Petersburg is a major transport hub. The city has an extensive network of public transport with buses, trams and underground. St. Petersburg is served by Pulkovo International Airport which is located on the outskirts of the city. Apart from that there are some seaports.
Everyone knows that St. Petersburg is usually referred to as the cultural capital of Russia. It is the city of great monuments, historical museums and other sites which belong to the World Heritage. There are a lot of museums in Moscow. I like to go to the State Tretyakov Gallery and watch the paintings. My city is rich in cultural places. There are a lot of theatres, showrooms and concert halls in Moscow. I visited Bolshoi Theatre with my parents. The performance was very exciting and I was full of unforgettable impressions.
Many people think that Moscow is noisy city but there are a lot of quiet parks and public gardens in it. I love my city very much because it is fine and majestic. I’m proud of my city and I’m glad that I live here.

People like travelling. They visit different countries and different continents. Some people move to different cities because they change a work place or they just want to experience something new in their lives. However, wherever people go, native city is always in the inmost recesses of the heart.

Since that time Moscow was destroyed several times. However people reconstructed it and it became even more beautiful.

I was born in a small town where my granny lived. But a few years later my parents decided to move to another place because they got jobs there. So, now I live in a wonderful town of Kamenets-Podolskyi, which is located in Khmelnitsky region and is very famous among Ukrainians. The population of the town is approximately 120,000 inhabitants.
The town is divided into several parts but the main division may be as follows: the new town and the old town. All the historical monuments, memorials and museums are concentrated in the old town where you can meet tourists from all over the world. Different concerts and international festivals are held here. However, the main tourist attraction is the large fortress, which, according to the historical records, was founded in the 11th century as a defensive fort by Cossacks. This fortress has become a great tourist attraction of my town.
The new part of the town is quite modern and busy. The streets are full of people; the roads are full of cars as in any other town or city. It is the place where you can easily find lots of cafes, restaurants and hotels.
In general, the town is highly industrially developed. There are a lot of plants and factories. At the same time it is a student town due to many educational establishments and schools. In addition, if you like to do outdoor activities or relax in the nature, there are a lot of parks and gardens, which, by the way, make the town look green and fresh. I am sure that people of ages can find what to do in Kamenets-Podilskyi because there is a lot of entertainment there, which varies from disco clubs and cinemas to art galleries and libraries.
This is the town of contrasts where the past is tightly connected with the present. I am really glad that I am its citizen. My hometown is Veidelevka. The Veidelevka district boarders the Rovenki district in the south-east and Veidelevka is situated in the South-East of Belgorod region. The coat of arms of Veidelevka is three wild peonies (called vorontsy). Wild peonies are rare flowers that you can find in the Red Book rareness. My hometown district is 81 year old. The settlement Veidelevka was named in honor of Vedel who inherited the land in 1742. A church was opened on the 13th of February 1748. It was the beginning of the settlement.
Things to see you there are Pokrovsky Cathedral, a new hospital, the Sunflowers Institute, the Monument to an Unknown Soldier, a local museum, a new Palace of Culture, the Alley of Glory, the Central Park. The new Pokrovsky Cathedral was built in Veidelevka in 2002. The Sunflowers Institute was opened in 1998. It was an institute of scientific research.
There are a lot of things to do, for example to visit a local museum, to walk in the park and to enjoy shopping. People like playing or watching sports in the stadium.
In my town there are a lot of famous people. Such as Sophia Vladimirovna Panina. Her great grandfather was the general Vedel.
I like my hometown. It is a great settlement. It is always clean. There is no traffic jam. It has beautiful weather. I`m proud that I`m from Veidelevka.

My remarkable mountain kingdom is one of the jewels on the Russian crown. Moreover, Dagestan strikes with its cultural diversity neighbouring with unique monuments of antiquity which add some irresistible and unforgettable charm. Furthermore, anything a person can imagine is here within its territory. It`s a place that offers impressive natural wonders, ancient historical buildings, great history, best cuisine, multiethnic diversity and hospitable people. In addition to this, Dagestan in famous for its ctaftmen: goldsmiths from Kubachi, jewelers from Gozatl, porters from Balkhar, woodworkers from Untsukul, carpetmakers from Tabasaran. As Rasul Gamzatov said: “But Dagestan is the dearest for the soul”. Dagestan is my fate, my heart treasure. I really want to be useful for my republic, my native town Derbent. Last year we celebrated two thousand years anniversary of Derbent welcoming guests from all over the world. Derbent- the pearl of Russia is a peaceful and ancient city with great architectural sights like fortress Naryn Kala, the Juma Mosque and the Armenian Temple. Naryn Kala is Unesco`s heritage. In conclusion, I want to say that each has only one native land and only one mother. I am proud of my homeland.
I was born in a small city named Hong Kong, which is located in the South coast and enclosed by the Pearl River Delta and South China Sea of China. Although Hong Kong is a part of China, it is a special region. The landmass of Hong Kong is 426 square miles, and a landscape consists mostly of mountains. Because Hong Kong is a peninsula, it is surrounded by oceans. In my hometown, there are about seven million people, which is almost double the number of the people who live in Seattle. Even though Hong Kong is a terribly small city, the density of population is one of the highest in the world. We can see plenty of people on the streets in Hong Kong, so sometimes it is really complicated because of crowds people; however, I think Hong Kong is one of the most beautiful cities in the world. The entire city has been instilled into my memory.
If I could go back to a certain time and place in the past, I would choose to go back to my hometown. There are no earthquakes, no tsunamis and no tornados even though it is adjacent to the ocean. I always went to the beach with family or friends on weekends; sometime we had many different kinds of foods on the barbecue. When I went to the beach, there were a lot of other people. Some people just lay down to take sunbaths on the sandy beach in the burning sun. Many kids were making sand castles with their families, and about two groups of five teenagers were playing volleyball. It was already five o'clock; the fiery sun was still shining in the sky. People were still not willing to go back and continued to swim. Sunset is one of the best parts of the beach; many couples wait until about 6 o'clock, and walk on the beach and imprint their footprints into the sand and take pictures to remind themselves of their memory.

У нас есть большая столовая, огромная кухня, четыре спальни (для моих родителей, меня, моей сестры и для наших гостей). Моя мама очень любит цветы, поэтому, в одной из комнат особенно полно зелени. Мама сделала из этой комнаты зимний сад. Здесь всегда так много света и места. Так здорово приходить сюда зимой, посидеть в тишине и насладиться этой красотой.
Я очень люблю приглашать друзей сюда. Они говорят, что мой дом очень огромный и самый красивый. Если мы празднуем какие-то торжества с родственниками и друзьями, то отмечаем только у нас дома. У нас достаточно места для каждого гостя.
Мой дом находится далеко от центра города. Все магазины и продуктовые не совсем близко, но это даже лучше. Зато рядом с нашим домом есть большой красивый парк и речка поблизости. Летом здесь очень здорово жить. Мы устанавливаем бассейн во дворе и отдыхаем. Я уверена, что мои родственники проделали грандиозную работу, построив такой шикарный дом на много лет вперёд. Иногда люди интересуются, хотим ли мы продать наш дом, а родители всегда смеются и отвечают нет. Когда я была ребёнком, я не понимала причину отказа. А сейчас заявляю: я бы хотела остаться в нашем большом, красивом семейном доме навсегда.
Dagestan – my homeland
A person without a motherland is like a nightingale without a song. I am grateful to God for being born in Dagestan. It`s my motherland! I remember my childhood full of adventures spent in green valleys with my grandfather. He used to say: “Homeland is more worth than gold”.
Some people think Dagestan is a dangerous place for living and visiting. I strongly believe that visiting Dagestan means entering humanities purest traditional roots. My remarkable mountain kingdom is one of the jewels on the Russian crown. Moreover, Dagestan strikes with its cultural diversity neighbouring with unique monuments of antiquity which add some irresistible and unforgettable charm. Furthermore, anything a person can imagine is here within its territory. It`s a place that offers impressive natural wonders, ancient historical buildings, great history, best cuisine, multiethnic diversity and hospitable people. In addition to this, Dagestan in famous for its ctaftmen: goldsmiths from Kubachi, jewelers from Gozatl, porters from Balkhar, woodworkers from Untsukul, carpetmakers from Tabasaran. As Rasul Gamzatov said: “But Dagestan is the dearest for the soul”. Dagestan is my fate, my heart treasure. I really want to be useful for my republic, my native town Derbent. Last year we celebrated two thousand years anniversary of Derbent welcoming guests from all over the world. Derbent- the pearl of Russia is a peaceful and ancient city with great architectural sights like fortress Naryn Kala, the Juma Mosque and the Armenian Temple. Naryn Kala is Unesco`s heritage.
In conclusion, I want to say that each has only one native land and only one mother. I am proud of my homeland.
I was born in a small city named Hong Kong, which is located in the South coast and enclosed by the Pearl River Delta and South China Sea of China. Although Hong Kong is a part of China, it is a special region. The landmass of Hong Kong is 426 square miles, and a landscape consists mostly of mountains. Because Hong Kong is a peninsula, it is surrounded by oceans. In my hometown, there are about seven million people, which is almost double the number of the people who live in Seattle. Even though Hong Kong is a terribly small city, the density of population is one of the highest in the world. We can see plenty of people on the streets in Hong Kong, so sometimes it is really complicated because of crowds people; however, I think Hong Kong is one of the most beautiful cities in the world. The entire city has been instilled into my memory.
If I could go back to a certain time and place in the past, I would choose to go back to my hometown. There are no earthquakes, no tsunamis and no tornados even though it is adjacent to the ocean. I always went to the beach with family or friends on weekends; sometime we had many different kinds of foods on the barbecue. When I went to the beach, there were a lot of other people. Some people just lay down to take sunbaths on the sandy beach in the burning sun. Many kids were making sand castles with their families, and about two groups of five teenagers were playing volleyball. It was already five o'clock; the fiery sun was still shining in the sky. People were still not willing to go back and continued to swim. Sunset is one of the best parts of the beach; many couples wait until about 6 o'clock, and walk on the beach and imprint their footprints into the sand and take pictures to remind themselves of their memory.
