Let me introduce my grand-grandmother Olga to you. She was born in 1912 and died two years ago at the age of 97. She was a long-liver. Her life was rather long. She took part in World War II and was awarded many medals for heroism. Her life was not easy: the war, diseases, hunger and hardships. But she was able to overcome difficulties and to live a long and rather happy life.
What is the secret of her long living? The secret is in her way of life. She had been working hard all her life – at the factory and at home. She knew the saying: “By doing nothing we learn to do ill”. Everybody knows that people really get into trouble when they do not have enough work to do. Besides, her life style was rather healthy – no smoking and no drinking. My grand-grandmother Olga was always ready to help people. She was very kind and generous.

My Village

My grandparents live in a country house in a small village not far from Moscow. Very often my parents and I visit them on the weekends. Moreover, I spend most part of my summer holidays there. I love my village. The air there is really fresh and there are lots of things to do.

In my village, there is a lake. I swim there with my friends when the weather is good.
My granny has a small garden and I always enjoy an opportunity to eat fresh vegetables, fruit, and berries, when I am in the country. Sometimes my grandfather and I go to the forest and pick up mushrooms. I find this activity really interesting. From time to time we also go fishing. Honestly, I am not really good at it, but my grandfather is a professional. In the Lake there a lot of different species of fish. After the fishing, my granny normally cooks a fish soup. It is one of my favorite dishes and my granny cooks very delicious.
В моей деревне есть озеро. Я плаваю там с моими друзьями, когда погода хорошая.

on aregular basis, like mygrandparents. Everybody knows each other there and I really appreciate it that there I can go for a walk with my friends at any time and my relatives would not worry about me. My village is a place, where I have a lot of friends and enjoy spending time!

In spite of all the troubles with my sister she always manages to do everything: to tidy our flat, cook delicious dinner and she always has time for talking to me. My mother is kind, loving, affectionate and caring. She can give me a piece of advice and help at any time. It feels cosy and cordial next to her. My mother is a good housewife. She teaches me how to sew, knit and bake pies. I missed her when I was staying with my grandfather and grandmother. I can’t live without her. She is the dearest person in my life. I love them all. When we come to their place they are always happy to see us. My granny has candies and biscuits for me and my little sister. My father’s dad is a pensioner, but he knows everything about modern radio sets and likes to repair old ones. He is also handy with many things. He can take everything to pieces and then put it all back again. He can fix almost everything: a vacuum cleaner, a washing machine, a fridge and what not. He has got a few shelves where he keeps everything he needs. And there is always a radio in pieces on his table.
My father’s mum is a pensioner too. She is good at cooking. She is so practical. In their house everything is in its place. When we visit them we gather in the kitchen, drink tea with home-made tarts. I must admit that our granny bakes wonderful cakes.
As I have already mentioned my mother’s parents live in village. Our arrival is a real occasion for them. They are pensioners too but they full of life and energy. We are always welcomed in their house.
At the end of my story I’d like to add that we are a very friendly family, we love each other and never forget to congratulate all the members of our family on the eve of the holidays.

My Dad`s name is Boris. He`s forty-three years old. He is very kind. He is generous, warm-hearted and lively. Dad is tall and has got short dark hair and blue eyes. He is very handsome.
My Mum`s name is Ann. She is thirty-six. She has got long dark hair and dark eyes. She is very friendly and has got a good sense of humour. Mum is very beautiful. She looks after the house and takes care of all of us.
My sister Ann is twelve. She is at school. She is in the sixth form. Sheis kind and friendly.
My Granny is retired. She helps Mum to take care of the family. My Granny cooks very well. All of us try to help her. She likes to surprise us with little unexpected gifts.
We all get together for holidays, weddings, birthdays and other celebrations. We love each other dearly and help each other. We are a happy family!
I study in the fourth form. My school is quite big. There are many pupils in our school. We like our school very much. My classes begin at half past eight in the morning and end at half past one in the afternoon.
All pupils learn some foreign languages – English, German or French. I learn English. I have three English classes a week – on Tuesdays, Fridays and Saturdays. At the lessons we check our homework. We ask and answer questions, read English texts and translate sentences both from Russian into English and from English into Russian. We speak English, of course.

Since I was a baby, my dear granny has been inspiring and encouraging me. She has taught me everything: from reading skills to working under pressure. Today I am quite a success in dancing, painting, winning various competitions and I appreciate her for every my award.
My granny’s life has always been like a roller coaster ride. She was born in small Siberian village in 1948. She experienced hard work during her childhood, lack of food and others in cause of the end of the Second World War. But in spite of those troubles she has always been so cheerful and peaceful. I have always been astonished how she can be calm and humorous even if something bad had happened. Once she said me, “My dear, if you are in trouble or you are irritated with someone, try to work hard and all your problems will fly away. Look at me – I have never lost my temper and here is the result.” It really works! When you are annoyed and emotions take you control, just try to wash up or clear up your room. It is so easy.
I am happy to have such a wonderful person in my life. My grandma is able to create not only an atmosphere of good; she can make up the beauty by herself. She has dreamed about painting since her childhood, but her family hadn’t got enough money. Now my grandmother draws…with a needle and thread! It is so wonderful! Kindness and peace are felt in each of her work. Recently she has learnt making funny dolls, embroidering ribbons and decorating dishes. Her unforgettable works constantly take part in various exhibitions. Her masterpieces are published in local newspapers and showed on TV. I’m very proud of her.
If you fortunately meet her, you will never forget!
С раннего детства моя дорогая бабушка вдохновляет и поддерживает меня. Она научила меня всему: от умения читать до сложной работы. Сегодня я довольно успешна в танцах, рисовании, побеждаю в различных конкурсах, и я обязана ей за каждую свою награду.
Жизнь моей бабушки всегда как американская горка. Она родилась в небольшой сибирской деревне в 1948 году. Будучи ребенком, она уже тяжело работала, пережила нехватку продовольствия и другие последствия послевоенного периода. Но, несмотря на все трудности, она всегда была жизнерадостной и миролюбивой. Я всегда удивляюсь, как она может быть спокойной и веселой, даже если случилось что-то плохое. Однажды она сказала мне: «Моя дорогая, если у тебя неприятности или тебя кто-то обидел, просто поработай и все твои проблемы исчезнут. Посмотри на меня – я никогда не теряю самообладания и вот результат». Это действительно работает! Когда ты раздражен и эмоции переполняют тебя, просто попробуй помыть посуду или убрать квартиру. Это так просто.
Я рада, что в моей жизни есть такой замечательный человек. Моя бабушка умеет создавать не только атмосферу добра, она может творить красоту своими руками. С самого детства она мечтала рисовать, но в ее семье не хватало денег. Сейчас моя бабушка рисует…с помощью иглы и нити! Это так замечательно! В каждой ее работе ощущается доброта и умиротворенность. Недавно она научилась делать смешные куклы, вышивать ленточками и разрисовывать посуду. Ее незабываемые работы постоянно принимают участие в различных выставках. Ее произведения публикуют в местных газетах и показывают по телевидению. Я очень горжусь ею.
