Places of Interest in Russia
Russia is the largest country in the world. It has a long and interesting history. The country is famous for its numerous places of interest. The capital of Russia is Moscow, and it’s the biggest city in the country. Another big and famous city in Russia is Saint Petersburg. It has once been a capital of the country. These two cities have the majority of Russian sights. For example, the Kremlin, which is situated in the heart of Moscow, the Bolshoi Theater, which is also in Moscow and many others.
Also, tourists can take part in some authentic festivals when visiting these cities. Another famous sight in Russia is situated in the center of Asia. It’s called Altay. Many tourists want to see this amazing region, which is known for its crystal clear lakes, high mountains and other natural wonders. I love my Homeland. My relatives, friends and colleagues live here too, I also love them. All the inhabitants of my Homeland understand Russian, so they can communicate without any problems.
Russia is the largest state in the world. It is washed by two oceans at once. They are the Pacific and Arctic oceans and there are much more seas in Russia. On these seas Russia has a large fleet, and has the huge reserves of natural resources, such as gas, oil, gold and others. In Siberia and the Far East Russia has a large forest area with wildlife. But, despite the enormous resources, the majority part of Russia’s population is not living a wealthy life.
My country is the Republic and the Federation.
And Moscow is the capital of my country, it is bigger than some European countries.
Russia is a multinational country, therefore divided into federated Republics, Autonomous provinces and districts. There are about two hundred different Nations who live here. They are Russians, Tatars, Bashkirs, Kazakhs, Azeris, Ukrainians, Jews, Chukchas and many others. They are all called the Russian citizens. They should live together peacefully, because they have one and the same country. Unfortunately, it is often different. But I hope that by the time I grow up quarrels between the people of my country will finish.

В Сибири и на Дальнем Востоке России сохранились большие лесные территории с дикой природой. Но, несмотря на огромные ресурсы, большая часть населения России живет небогато.
Еще моя Родина — республика и федерация.
А Москва — столица моей страны, она сама по населению больше, чем некоторые страны Европы.
Россия — многонациональная страна, поэтому поделена на федеративные республики, автономные края и округа. В них живут почти две сотни разных народов. Это русские, татары, башкиры, чуваши, азербайджанцы, украинцы, евреи, чукчи и много других. Все они называются россиянами. Все они должны жить дружно, потому что у них одна страна. К сожалению, часто бывает по-другому. Но я надеюсь, что к тому времени, когда я вырасту, ссоры между народами в моей стране прекратятся.
People of different nationalities live on the territory of Russia. Russian is the state language. However, there are a lot of people speaking various dialects.
Approximately half of the territory of the country is covered with forests. Its flora and fauna are quite diverse.
Russia is agricultural and industrial country. Russia has a developed economy with enormous natural resources, particularly natural gas and oil. Russia is one of the leading countries in the space industry.
Russia is the country with great cultural heritage. There are historic and cultural monuments nearly in every city and town.

Russia is unique country. Our country is well known around the world with its enormous territory, various and beautiful landscapes. In addition we have great history and cultural heritage. From generation to generation stories of great event and personalities are told. So thinking of native land we think about modern and former heroes: artists, musicians, writers and poets. I love my Russia and I proud with its endless fields, fertile forests, seas, rivers, lakes, cities and villages.
I could never leave my country. I was born here, same raised here so it became part of my life. I’m very glad to live in peaceful time. It is the opportunity to visit great school to get education, do my favorite things and stay close to my family and friends. Because homeland is not only land it’s also people that surround us in daily life. It’s bigger than one can imagine.
Deep knowledge about my country is my priority. I know it takes lots of efforts and there will be many difficulties but I’m confident about myself. As they say man is happy knowing his destination, where his should follow and how make his dreams into real. I will decorate my life with dreams having bright future ahead. And I’m really glad to live in Russia.

About Russia
Location
Russia is also officially known as the Russian Federation. It’s the largest country in the world with the total area of about 17 million square kilometers. Russia is situated in Europe and in Asia. It is washed by 12 seas. Russia borders on Norway, Finland, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Belarus, Ukraine, Georgia, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, China, Mongolia and North Korea. It also has a sea border with Japan and the United States. The population of Russia is about 142 million people. It’s the ninth most populous nation in the world. Landscapes
Russia has a great variety of landscapes. There are plains and forests, highlands and deserts, tundra and taiga. There are lots of mountains and over two million rivers in the country. The main ones are the Volga, which is the longest river in Europe, the Ob, the Yenisei and the Lena. Russia’s lakes contain one-quarter of the world’s fresh water. The deepest and the purest lake Baikal is situated in Russia.
Industrial country
Russia is a highly developed industrial country. It has the world’s largest reserves of mineral and energy resources. The country is rich in oil, coal, iron ore, natural gas, copper, nickel and other mineral resources. Despite the economic problems that Russia is facing nowadays, the country remains one of the leading countries in the world.
System
Russia is a parliamentary republic with the President being the Head of the State. The legislative powers are exercised by the Duma.
Culture
Russia is a country of unique culture. Its largest and most beautiful cities are Moscow and St. Petersburg where one can find numerous museums, parks, theatres, monuments, churches and lots of other interesting places.

Russia … What do you imagine when you hear this word? Someone imagines a great country that occupies the largest part of the continent, the others think about the largest exporter of oil, another people imagine large industrial cities with factories. I imagine a small village, which is located in the heart of the Siberia.
If you are just passing this village in transport, you can notice nothing extraordinary, but if you take a closer look, you’ll never want to go away. The nature is wonderful there. Clean air, which every citizen dreams about, and the mountains and the forest in the background of the blue almost transparent sky, seem to be fabulous. There are a lotof lakes, where you can fish, go boating or just swim. There are a lot of mushrooms and berries in the forests. Walking along the paths, you can collect a bunch of flowers or just watch and take picture of other ones, which are in The Red Book. Children like to get together and go to the nearest creek to swim in a hot day, and there you can dissolve a fire and bake the potatoes with bacon. And in winter, they build a snow fortress, or take a big horse sleigh; the whole crowds drag them up to the hill and then laugh and go down through the village…
I love the village. Everyone knows you, your parents and grandparents. It seems the village to be a big family… I like “Molodetskie games” most of all. They are always held on Maslenitsa festival. Everybody in the village come to look at them. The teams arrive and the competitions in different kinds of sport take place. They pull rope, then lift weights, sing and dance … It’s very funny! … And then people burn a strawman and eat pancakes.
It is often said that a village inhabitant is different from a city man, and I do not deny it. People grown in village are much kinder and they like to communicate with other people. Just because they used to. I think it`s very good, because people are stronger together! Перевод:

Здесь очень много озёр, на которых здорово порыбачить, покататься на лодке или просто поплавать. В лесах очень много грибов и ягод, гуляя по тропинкам, можно набрать букет цветов или просто посмотреть и сфотографировать такие, которые другие люди могут увидеть лишь в красной книге. Ребятня любит собираться все вместе и идти на ближайший ручей купаться в знойный день, а там можно костёр развести и картофель с салом испечь. Ну а зимой, строим крепости из снега или берём большие конские сани, всей гурьбой затаскивали их на гору, а потом смеёмся и едем через всю деревню…
Люблю деревню. Все знают и тебя и родителей и бабушек с дедушками, такое впечатление, что это одна большая семья… Больше всего мне нравятся «молодецкие игры». Они всегда проводятся на масленицу. Вся деревня собирается посмотреть. Собирают команды и проводятся соревнования по различным видам спорта, то они канат перетягивают, то гири поднимают, то на столб залазают, кто быстрее, то поют, то танцуют… Весело.…А потом соломенную бабу сжигают и блины едят.
Часто говорят, что деревенского в городе сразу видно, а я не скрываю этого. Те, кто в деревне вырос намного добрее, и с другими людьми им общаться нравится. Просто они привыкли так. Мне кажется это очень хорошо, ведь вместе люди сильнее!

USA. It is faraway country, on the other side of the world. It is country of contrasts and great opportunities. There are a number of time zones and two oceans, the Pacific and the Atlantic, between us. And what attracts me to it?
The US is state with rich cultural heritage and fascinating history. It has passed a long way of formation and has earned respect from other countries. During the Second World War the US had been a reliable support for the Soviet Union because it had helped much in the fight against the fascism.
America gave the world a lot of great people, such as Abraham Lincoln, James Fenimore Cooper, Ernest Hemingway and Martin Luther King. This list is endless. We should not forget about Christopher Columbus, because he had discovered this previously unknown continent.
A lot of cultures, mentalities and nations are intertwined in America. This has formed the current face of the country. Today, the US is a prosperous country, “the first economy of the world”. Many people want to go to the US to get an education, make a career, or just see this truly amazing place.
There are so many beautiful cities in America: big cities such as New York, Los Angeles, Miami as well as little provincial towns. I want to pick out New York City among big cities. I associate New York with lots of yellow taxis on Times Square, crowds of people, who hurry somewhere and of course with skyscrapers and Statue of Liberty. Recently, I wanted to “taste “The Big Apple””. No matter how stupidly it sounds, this ambition appeared, when I was playing video game `Grand theft Auto IV`.
That would be so nice to wake up in the morning and go for a walk on Manhattan, visit the famous Wall Street, see Columbia University, stroll along Broadway, stare at the colorful advertising signs in Times Square. Then, we can go to Central Park for a walk, encountering running people in tracksuits, mummies with prams, people walking their dogs or to sit on green grass. After this we can pop to coffee shop and then go to Liberty Island where a statue with the same name is located, which has become a national symbol of America.
New York is the capital of American fashion. Fashion Weeks are held there. New York City is not only a big beautiful city, but it is one of the world economic centers. Also there is the headquarters of UN.
California will certainly leave nobody indifferent. San Francisco with Cable Cars and Golden Gate Bridge, Silicon Valley and high technologies, San Diego and its Zoo – that`s California.
There are most picturesque beaches of the West coast. I would be glad to be on of these beaches. Lying on golden sand and the sun gently caressing your skin, ocean softly roaring, boys and girls in swimsuits playing beach volleyball and the rescuers attentively watching over what is happening. California is an excellent place for surfing. I would take a lesson from local surfing instructors.
There is also Hollywood in the Golden State, it is the well-known suburbs of Los Angeles. Hollywood had discovered the world-famous stars like Audrey Hepburn, Kirk Douglas, Harrison Ford and Meryl Streep. It is noteworthy, that the governor of California, Arnold Schwarzenegger, is actor too. By the way, I want to visit the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
It is interesting, that there are two towns, which name is Washington, in America except the capital of the US. The capital of the US, Washington D.C., deserves attention too. What can I say about this city? The government of the USA is situated there and a number of government buildings, like United States Capitol, residence of president of the United States, the White House, and Supreme Court of the United States. Washington D.C. is one of the most beautiful cities of America. Architecture of US Capitol and Supreme Court of the US is amazing. In the US capital we can also see The Lincoln Memorial, inside which the statue of sixteenth president is located. You must see this.
United States of America is a truly great country, with special lifestyle, unique people and its own traditions. My cherished dream is to go there and learn how America really is.

Америка подарила миру немало великих и талантливых людей: Авраам Линкольн, Джеймс Фенимор Купер, Эрнест Хемингуэй, Мартин Лютер Кинг. Этот список можно продолжать бесконечно. Не следует забывать о Христофоре Колумбе, ведь именно он открыл этот неизвестный ранее континент.
В Америке переплелись множество культур, наций, менталитетов, которые сформировали нынешний облик страны. Сегодня США – это процветающая страна, “первая экономика мира”. Многие люди стремятся попасть туда: получить образование, сделать карьеру или просто увидеть это поистине удивительное место.
Как много в Америке прекрасных городов. Как мегаполисов: Нью-Йорк, Лос-Анджелес, Майами, так и маленьких провинциальных городков. Среди больших городов хочется отметить Нью-Йорк. Нью-Йорк ассоциируется у меня с множеством жёлтых такси на Таймс-Сквер, толпами людей спешащих куда-то, ну и, конечно же, небоскрёбами и Статуей Свободы. Совсем недавно я загорелся желанием “попробовать “Большое яблоко” на вкус”. Как бы это глупо ни звучало, но это желание появилось у меня после того как я поиграл в игру Grand Theft Auto IV.
Как было бы здорово проснуться утром и пойти гулять по Манхэттену, посетить знаменитую Уолл-стрит, посмотреть на Колумбийский университет, прогуляться по Бродвею, полюбоваться на цветастые вывески на Таймс-Сквер. Пройтись по Центральному парку, встречая на своём пути пробегающих мимо людей в спортивных костюмах, мамочек с колясками, людей, выгуливающих собак, или посидеть на зелёной травке. После можно забежать в кофейню, а затем отправиться на остров свободы, на котором находится одноимённая статуя, ставшая национальным символом Америки.
Нью-Йорк также является американской столицей моды. Там проводятся Недели Моды. Следует сказать о том, что Нью-Йорк – это не просто большой красивый город, а ещё и один из экономических центров мира. Также здесь расположена штаб-квартира ООН.
Калифорния наверняка не оставит никого равнодушным. Сан-Франциско со своими трамвайчиками и мостом “Золотые ворота”, Силиконовая долина с высокими технологиями, Сан-Диего со своим зоопарком – всё это Калифорния.
Именно там находятся самые живописные пляжи Западного побережья. Я был бы очень рад оказаться на одном из них. Лежишь на золотистом песке, а солнце нежно ласкает твою кожу, океан тихо шумит, парни и девушки в купальных костюмах играют в пляжный волейбол, спасатели на своих вышках внимательно следят за происходящим. Калифорния – превосходное место для занятий сёрфингом. Надо бы взять пару уроков у местных инструкторов.
Также в “Золотом штате” находится Голливуд, знаменитый район Лос-Анджелеса. Именно Голливуд открыл миру всемирно известных звёзд, среди которых можно выделить Одри Хепбёрн, Кирк Дуглас, Харрисон Форд, Мэрил Стрип. Примечательно, что губернатор Калифорнии, Арнольд Шварценеггер, тоже актёр. Кстати, обязательно надо посетить “Аллею славы”.
Очень интересен тот факт, что помимо столицы в Америке есть ещё два города с названием Вашингтон. Столица США, Вашингтон, тоже заслуживает внимания. Что же можно сказать о политическом центре страны? Там сосредоточено правительство и ряд правительственных зданий, таких, как Капитолий, резиденция президента США – Белый дом, Верховный суд США. Вашингтон – это один из красивейших городов Америки. Архитектура Капитолия и Верховного суда поражает воображение. Также в столице США можно увидеть мемориал Линкольна, в помещении которого находится статуя шестнадцатого президента. Это нужно видеть вживую.
Соединённые Штаты Америки поистине великая страна, с особым укладом жизни, с уникальными людьми и своими традициями. Моя заветная мечта – побывать там и узнать о том, какая она, настоящая Америка.

Russia is one of the largest countries in the world. It occupies a big part of dry land. The country is known as a Legend Empire, because it has been suffering from foreign invasion and dominance by outsiders from times immemorial, but still strong and alive.
The country divided by Ural mountain range in two big parts is full of controversies. People who live close to Europe are not the same with Russians from the other side of the Ural. Russia is rich in such natural treasures as coal, oil, nickel, copper, natural gas and even diamonds. The oversize of the territory determines a big variety of climates: from arctic to subtropical one. In the centre of the country there is a temperate climate. One of the main sources of pride in Russia is unique nature from East to West. The country is rich in numerous lakes, rivers and woods.
Everybody knows that USA is called “a melting pot of cultures” thanks to its history and national background. This is also true about Russia, because its population consists of many nationalities: Slavs, Tatars, Chuvash, etc. This mix makes the country unique and unusual.
The head of the state is a president who is usually elected every 6 years. The capital of the country is Moscow with population of about 10 million people and it increases every day. This city is like a miniature copy of the whole country.
There are many stereotypes about Russian people and their country. Most of Americans and Europeans suppose that every Russian family lives in severe Siberia, drinks vodka every day, plays balalaika and has its own brown bear instead of a dog. Actually, Russia is a big political, scientific, cultural and industrial centre now and all these stereotypes are no more than fairytales.

Places of Interest in Russia
Russia is the largest country in the world. It has a long and interesting history. The country is famous for its numerous places of interest. The capital of Russia is Moscow, and it’s the biggest city in the country. Another big and famous city in Russia is Saint Petersburg. It has once been a capital of the country. These two cities have the majority of Russian sights. For example, the Kremlin, which is situated in the heart of Moscow, the Bolshoi Theater, which is also in Moscow and many others.
Also, tourists can take part in some authentic festivals when visiting these cities. Another famous sight in Russia is situated in the center of Asia. It’s called Altay. Many tourists want to see this amazing region, which is known for its crystal clear lakes, high mountains and other natural wonders. The deepest lake in the world, Baikal, is also situated in Russia, in the East Siberian region.

I love my Homeland. My relatives, friends and colleagues live here too, I also love them. All the inhabitants of my Homeland understand Russian, so they can communicate without any problems.

They should live together peacefully, because they have one and the same country. Unfortunately, it is often different. But I hope that by the time I grow up quarrels between the people of my country will finish.

Russia is unique country. Our country is well known around the world with its enormous territory, various and beautiful landscapes. In addition we have great history and cultural heritage. From generation to generation stories of great event and personalities are told. So thinking of native land we think about modern and former heroes: artists, musicians, writers and poets. I love my Russia and I proud with its endless fields, fertile forests, seas, rivers, lakes, cities and villages.
I could never leave my country. I was born here, same raised here so it became part of my life. I’m very glad to live in peaceful time. It is the opportunity to visit great school to get education, do my favorite things and stay close to my family and friends. Because homeland is not only land it’s also people that surround us in daily life. It’s bigger than one can imagine.

About Russia
Location

Russia … What do you imagine when you hear this word? Someone imagines a great country that occupies the largest part of the continent, the others think about the largest exporter of oil, another people imagine large industrial cities with factories. I imagine a small village, which is located in the heart of the Siberia.
If you are just passing this village in transport, you can notice nothing extraordinary, but if you take a closer look, you’ll never want to go away. The nature is wonderful there. Clean air, which every citizen dreams about, and the mountains and the forest in the background of the blue almost transparent sky, seem to be fabulous. There are a lotof lakes, where you can fish, go boating or just swim. There are a lot of mushrooms and berries in the forests. Walking along the paths, you can collect a bunch of flowers or just watch and take picture of other ones, which are in The Red Book. Children like to get together and go to the nearest creek to swim in a hot day, and there you can dissolve a fire and bake the potatoes with bacon. And in winter, they build a snow fortress, or take a big horse sleigh; the whole crowds drag them up to the hill and then laugh and go down through the village…
I love the village. Everyone knows you, your parents and grandparents. It seems the village to be a big family… I like “Molodetskie games” most of all. They are always held on Maslenitsa festival. Everybody in the village come to look at them. The teams arrive and the competitions in different kinds of sport take place. They pull rope, then lift weights, sing and dance … It’s very funny! … And then people burn a strawman and eat pancakes.
It is often said that a village inhabitant is different from a city man, and I do not deny it. People grown in village are much kinder and they like to communicate with other people. Just because they used to. I think it`s very good, because people are stronger together!

Чистый воздух, о котором мечтает каждый горожанин, просто кружит голову, а горы и тайга на фоне голубого, почти прозрачного неба, кажутся сказочными. Здесь очень много озёр, на которых здорово порыбачить, покататься на лодке или просто поплавать. В лесах очень много грибов и ягод, гуляя по тропинкам, можно набрать букет цветов или просто посмотреть и сфотографировать такие, которые другие люди могут увидеть лишь в красной книге. Ребятня любит собираться все вместе и идти на ближайший ручей купаться в знойный день, а там можно костёр развести и картофель с салом испечь. Ну а зимой, строим крепости из снега или берём большие конские сани, всей гурьбой затаскивали их на гору, а потом смеёмся и едем через всю деревню…
Люблю деревню. Все знают и тебя и родителей и бабушек с дедушками, такое впечатление, что это одна большая семья… Больше всего мне нравятся «молодецкие игры». Они всегда проводятся на масленицу. Вся деревня собирается посмотреть. Собирают команды и проводятся соревнования по различным видам спорта, то они канат перетягивают, то гири поднимают, то на столб залазают, кто быстрее, то поют, то танцуют… Весело.…А потом соломенную бабу сжигают и блины едят.
Часто говорят, что деревенского в городе сразу видно, а я не скрываю этого. Те, кто в деревне вырос намного добрее, и с другими людьми им общаться нравится. Просто они привыкли так. Мне кажется это очень хорошо, ведь вместе люди сильнее!

USA. It is faraway country, on the other side of the world. It is country of contrasts and great opportunities. There are a number of time zones and two oceans, the Pacific and the Atlantic, between us. And what attracts me to it?
The US is state with rich cultural heritage and fascinating history. It has passed a long way of formation and has earned respect from other countries. During the Second World War the US had been a reliable support for the Soviet Union because it had helped much in the fight against the fascism.
America gave the world a lot of great people, such as Abraham Lincoln, James Fenimore Cooper, Ernest Hemingway and Martin Luther King. This list is endless. We should not forget about Christopher Columbus, because he had discovered this previously unknown continent.
A lot of cultures, mentalities and nations are intertwined in America. This has formed the current face of the country. Today, the US is a prosperous country, “the first economy of the world”. Many people want to go to the US to get an education, make a career, or just see this truly amazing place.
There are so many beautiful cities in America: big cities such as New York, Los Angeles, Miami as well as little provincial towns. I want to pick out New York City among big cities. I associate New York with lots of yellow taxis on Times Square, crowds of people, who hurry somewhere and of course with skyscrapers and Statue of Liberty. Recently, I wanted to “taste “The Big Apple””. No matter how stupidly it sounds, this ambition appeared, when I was playing video game `Grand theft Auto IV`.
That would be so nice to wake up in the morning and go for a walk on Manhattan, visit the famous Wall Street, see Columbia University, stroll along Broadway, stare at the colorful advertising signs in Times Square. Then, we can go to Central Park for a walk, encountering running people in tracksuits, mummies with prams, people walking their dogs or to sit on green grass. After this we can pop to coffee shop and then go to Liberty Island where a statue with the same name is located, which has become a national symbol of America.
New York is the capital of American fashion. Fashion Weeks are held there. New York City is not only a big beautiful city, but it is one of the world economic centers. Also there is the headquarters of UN.
California will certainly leave nobody indifferent. San Francisco with Cable Cars and Golden Gate Bridge, Silicon Valley and high technologies, San Diego and its Zoo – that`s California.
There are most picturesque beaches of the West coast. I would be glad to be on of these beaches. Lying on golden sand and the sun gently caressing your skin, ocean softly roaring, boys and girls in swimsuits playing beach volleyball and the rescuers attentively watching over what is happening. California is an excellent place for surfing. I would take a lesson from local surfing instructors.
There is also Hollywood in the Golden State, it is the well-known suburbs of Los Angeles. Hollywood had discovered the world-famous stars like Audrey Hepburn, Kirk Douglas, Harrison Ford and Meryl Streep. It is noteworthy, that the governor of California, Arnold Schwarzenegger, is actor too. By the way, I want to visit the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
It is interesting, that there are two towns, which name is Washington, in America except the capital of the US. The capital of the US, Washington D.C., deserves attention too. What can I say about this city? The government of the USA is situated there and a number of government buildings, like United States Capitol, residence of president of the United States, the White House, and Supreme Court of the United States. Washington D.C. is one of the most beautiful cities of America. Architecture of US Capitol and Supreme Court of the US is amazing. In the US capital we can also see The Lincoln Memorial, inside which the statue of sixteenth president is located. You must see this.
United States of America is a truly great country, with special lifestyle, unique people and its own traditions. My cherished dream is to go there and learn how America really is.

США – государство с богатым культурным наследием и интересной историей. Оно прошло долгий путь становления и завоевало уважение в мире. Во время второй Мировой Войны США были надёжной опорой Советскому Союзу, также они оказали немалую поддержку в борьбе с фашизмом.
Америка подарила миру немало великих и талантливых людей: Авраам Линкольн, Джеймс Фенимор Купер, Эрнест Хемингуэй, Мартин Лютер Кинг. Этот список можно продолжать бесконечно. Не следует забывать о Христофоре Колумбе, ведь именно он открыл этот неизвестный ранее континент.
В Америке переплелись множество культур, наций, менталитетов, которые сформировали нынешний облик страны. Сегодня США – это процветающая страна, “первая экономика мира”. Многие люди стремятся попасть туда: получить образование, сделать карьеру или просто увидеть это поистине удивительное место.
Как много в Америке прекрасных городов. Как мегаполисов: Нью-Йорк, Лос-Анджелес, Майами, так и маленьких провинциальных городков. Среди больших городов хочется отметить Нью-Йорк. Нью-Йорк ассоциируется у меня с множеством жёлтых такси на Таймс-Сквер, толпами людей спешащих куда-то, ну и, конечно же, небоскрёбами и Статуей Свободы. Совсем недавно я загорелся желанием “попробовать “Большое яблоко” на вкус”. Как бы это глупо ни звучало, но это желание появилось у меня после того как я поиграл в игру Grand Theft Auto IV.
Как было бы здорово проснуться утром и пойти гулять по Манхэттену, посетить знаменитую Уолл-стрит, посмотреть на Колумбийский университет, прогуляться по Бродвею, полюбоваться на цветастые вывески на Таймс-Сквер. Пройтись по Центральному парку, встречая на своём пути пробегающих мимо людей в спортивных костюмах, мамочек с колясками, людей, выгуливающих собак, или посидеть на зелёной травке. После можно забежать в кофейню, а затем отправиться на остров свободы, на котором находится одноимённая статуя, ставшая национальным символом Америки.
Нью-Йорк также является американской столицей моды. Там проводятся Недели Моды. Следует сказать о том, что Нью-Йорк – это не просто большой красивый город, а ещё и один из экономических центров мира. Также здесь расположена штаб-квартира ООН.
Калифорния наверняка не оставит никого равнодушным. Сан-Франциско со своими трамвайчиками и мостом “Золотые ворота”, Силиконовая долина с высокими технологиями, Сан-Диего со своим зоопарком – всё это Калифорния.
Именно там находятся самые живописные пляжи Западного побережья. Я был бы очень рад оказаться на одном из них. Лежишь на золотистом песке, а солнце нежно ласкает твою кожу, океан тихо шумит, парни и девушки в купальных костюмах играют в пляжный волейбол, спасатели на своих вышках внимательно следят за происходящим. Калифорния – превосходное место для занятий сёрфингом. Надо бы взять пару уроков у местных инструкторов.
Также в “Золотом штате” находится Голливуд, знаменитый район Лос-Анджелеса. Именно Голливуд открыл миру всемирно известных звёзд, среди которых можно выделить Одри Хепбёрн, Кирк Дуглас, Харрисон Форд, Мэрил Стрип. Примечательно, что губернатор Калифорнии, Арнольд Шварценеггер, тоже актёр. Кстати, обязательно надо посетить “Аллею славы”.
Очень интересен тот факт, что помимо столицы в Америке есть ещё два города с названием Вашингтон. Столица США, Вашингтон, тоже заслуживает внимания. Что же можно сказать о политическом центре страны? Там сосредоточено правительство и ряд правительственных зданий, таких, как Капитолий, резиденция президента США – Белый дом, Верховный суд США. Вашингтон – это один из красивейших городов Америки. Архитектура Капитолия и Верховного суда поражает воображение. Также в столице США можно увидеть мемориал Линкольна, в помещении которого находится статуя шестнадцатого президента. Это нужно видеть вживую.
Соединённые Штаты Америки поистине великая страна, с особым укладом жизни, с уникальными людьми и своими традициями. Моя заветная мечта – побывать там и узнать о том, какая она, настоящая Америка.

Russia is one of the largest countries in the world. It occupies a big part of dry land. The country is known as a Legend Empire, because it has been suffering from foreign invasion and dominance by outsiders from times immemorial, but still strong and alive.
The country divided by Ural mountain range in two big parts is full of controversies. People who live close to Europe are not the same with Russians from the other side of the Ural. Russia is rich in such natural treasures as coal, oil, nickel, copper, natural gas and even diamonds. The oversize of the territory determines a big variety of climates: from arctic to subtropical one. In the centre of the country there is a temperate climate. One of the main sources of pride in Russia is unique nature from East to West. The country is rich in numerous lakes, rivers and woods.
Everybody knows that USA is called “a melting pot of cultures” thanks to its history and national background. This is also true about Russia, because its population consists of many nationalities: Slavs, Tatars, Chuvash, etc. This mix makes the country unique and unusual.
The head of the state is a president who is usually elected every 6 years. The capital of the country is Moscow with population of about 10 million people and it increases every day. This city is like a miniature copy of the whole country.
There are many stereotypes about Russian people and their country. Most of Americans and Europeans suppose that every Russian family lives in severe Siberia, drinks vodka every day, plays balalaika and has its own brown bear instead of a dog. Actually, Russia is a big political, scientific, cultural and industrial centre now and all these stereotypes are no more than fairytales.

Каждому известно, что США называют плавильным котлом культур благодаря его истории и национальной принадлежности граждан. То же самое можно сказать и о России, потому что ее население состоит из людей многих национальностей: славяне, татары, чуваши и многие другие. Этот микс делает страну уникальной и необычной.
Главой государства является президент, которого обычно избирают каждые 6 лет. Столица страны – город Москва с населением около 10 миллионов человек и каждый день оно растет. Этот город – копия всей страны в миниатюре.
О русских и об их стране существует множество стереотипов. Большинство американцев и европейцев полагают, что каждая русская семья живет в суровой Сибири, пьет каждый день водку, играет на балалайке и имеет своего собственного бурого медведя вместо собаки. На самом деле, Россия является на сегодняшний день крупным политическим, научным, культурным и промышленным центром и все эти стереотипы не более чем сказки.
